It is important for me to stay informed about the news because it allows me to know what is happening in the world I live in. This way, I can give my opinion critically about the news I learn every day. Also, having this information helps me understand current events, identify trends that could affect my future, and be more aware of social, political, and economic issues that impact my community and the world. I can also think critically about how to help with these problems.
If I didn't stay informed, I would live in a bubble of ignorance, which would make me vulnerable to misinformation and manipulation. Not knowing what is happening could affect my safety, education, and even job opportunities. For example, knowing about law changes, technological advances, or economic crises allows me to prepare and adapt better to different situations. Also, I would not be able to talk about the news because I would not have enough knowledge about it.
In addition, staying updated with the news helps me develop critical thinking. It is not just about receiving information, but also about analyzing it, comparing different sources, and understanding its impact. This allows me to take part in conversations with strong arguments, influence my environment, and be an active member of society. It is important to check different sources to see how true the news is. Also, looking at different points of view helps us consider different opinions and a wider perspective.

News are the only way we get information from around the globe. They are the foundation of our world view and opinions.
Therefore it is extremely important to know how and why to use news to our advantage.
In a world of where emotional, misleading
and manipulative news stories get increasingly popular, it will be extremely important to know what is real or not. And this is why it is so important to learn about the news, not only to stay informed about what is happening in the world, which, sure, is a very important feature of the news, but knowing how to use it to not get scammed or to believe false news.
News can and will destroy democracies due to their immense power, if in the hands of people who want to do this.
They are really a fourth power in democracies, able to shift the public's opinion in an instant. This really shows how much of a difference news stories can make.
I think it is not really about getting the information, but rather getting the whole news, with the context behind it. The reporting of a news story can make a big difference. But it shouldn't. Societies in democracies shouldn't be so prone to fake news. And this is where we need to start: Everyone should of course learn about the news, but most importantly, how they can interpret them. It is important that democratic societies can't be affected by how a story is told, rather than by the story itself.
Right now, most of them are just too vulnerable. Therefore, everyone needs to be educated on news and how to use them to our advantage.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news around the world so that I could have a better understanding of what is happening and how I could potentially donate or help solve a problem if there is one learning about the news could also help me in war time if it happens so that I stay careful and make sure where I'm going is safe so that I don't get hurt. Or if there is good news for example Palestine has been freed or the war has stopped I could see how they were freed and maybe use it as advice for the future if Egypt falls into war.

  • Its important for me to learn about the news because the news helps me to understand about the complexities of the world and also helps me to become a more empathetic and informed global citizen.

Learning about the news helps me to stay updated about the current affairs, understand the perspective of different people and form my owm opinions. This knowledge will also help me to make informed decisions whether it's about my career , mu community or my role in facing global challenges.

In addition it helps me to appreciate the inter connectedness of the world and impact of global conflicts on local communities . This will help me to understand their feeling and will foster me to take action and make positive changes .

In the future ,I wish to persue career in journalism and learning about news can help me by providing a strong foundation to reach my goals.

At last, learning about news is crutial for me to become a critically thinking, well informed and responsible person who can make positive impact on world.

    1. That's inspiring to hear that you want to be a journalist! Thanks for sharing.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because the news helps me know and identify problems, tasks, and challenges that are happening around the world. The news raises awareness on recent problems and upcoming problems, so that I know what safety measures to take during the time of that problem. Learning about the news also helps me build my critical thinking skills and understand the world from different perspectives, which will be valuable as I continue to grow and and face new challenges in the future. By understanding what's happening around the world, I can engage in more meaningful conversations, contribute to discussions, and make informed choices about my future.

  • Learning about the news is really important for me, and I believe for everyone. News reports update me about the current affairs, like the various events taking place around. Staying updated helps me to be aware about the recent developments, opportunities (like job vacancies) and challenges; for example poverty, drought or a war. At first, I didn't understand the importance of news and thought that this is just a way of entertainment, but now, I have realised the importance of news in my daily life. Once, my classmates were talking about something that recently happened in our area, and I didn't know anything about it because I didn't feel the importance to read news! I felt so disconnected and unaware. I came to this conclusion that if we don't read the news, we'll NOT be informed of the discussions shaping our society, the decisions that affect our life and will miss out a lot. Learning about the news not only helps one make informed decisions (decisions that are based on relevant and up to date information) but also equips me for the future so that i can actively participate and contribute to my surroundings, making me a responsible and aware citizen!

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it is important to be aware of your surroundings or things that are going around in the world. For instance, something like a virus could happen and you will need to know the symptoms or how to stay safe.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it can help me understand what is going on in the world and it could help me out in Topical Talk whenever I need to make a comment about something recent that can possibly be in the news.

  • It is important for me to be educated by the news because it is like you getting detailed information about what is happening globally and you being able to express your opinions and giving feedback at your own point of view. The news is just like a learning process but the aspect of learning is like global learning or global education. The importance of news is that it helps me to be more aware about my society tells me things that are happening in places that i don't know about . If i don't know what is happening in the world today how would i be able to know if there is a sit at home happening in my country or certain rules have been added to the laws of the land, which can lead me to trouble. So I would like to say that education about the news is very important because if we don't get educated through the news we can actually get in trouble.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it is good to be spatially aware. For example, if there was a dangerous individual in your city, anyone who didn't watch the news would be oblivious and in danger, but if you did watch the news you would be more cautious and keep yourself safe.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it helps me be aware of the things going on in the world around me. The news also informs me when there are any criminals in the area I live in. Furthermore, I am able to know which countries are safe to travel to and which countries that are at war. By knowing what is going on around me, I am able to take the proper procedures to ensure my safety. Without this knowledge, I would be at risk of danger or sickness.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it's a window to the world, revealing the complexities, challenges, and triumphs of humanity. When I stay informed, I feel a deep sense of connection to the global community, and I'm inspired to contribute my voice, my actions, and my compassion.

Imagine waking up one morning, unaware of the world's joys and struggles. It's like being a puzzle piece that doesn't quite fit – I'd feel lost, disconnected, and uncertain about my place in the world. By learning about the news, I can develop my own perspective, engage in meaningful conversations, and support causes that resonate with my heart.

As I grow older, I envision myself as a thoughtful, empathetic, and engaged citizen, equipped to navigate the intricacies of our world. By staying informed and cultivating my critical thinking skills, I'll be able to make informed decisions that align with my values, and contribute to creating a brighter, more compassionate world for all.

For me, learning about the news is not just about staying informed – it's about becoming a more empathetic, engaged, and empowered individual, ready to make a positive impact in the world.

    1. Yes, I agree with you. Learning about the news keeps me informed and also allows me to make a connection with people, especially when I hear about their story. This affords me the opportunity to show love and care towards people. Learning about the news is an excellent way for me to build my vocabulary and be involved in school programs like debates, social events, and club activities. I believe this will help me in whatever career I need to pursue in the future. The news also makes me aware of the economic situation in my country, how high or low the prices of commodities are, and the market trends and patterns. The news does not only make me emotional; it also makes me excited, especially when the things I love are being aired in the news.

  • I believe that it is not just important but FUNDAMENTAL to learn about the news in my life. Growing up, I used to watch the news every day with my parents but I just saw it as boring so for the longest of time I didn't watch it which led to me learning what it truly meant to be ignorant. I was left out of many conversations because I didn't know what they were, I wasn't aware of what was happening around me, and I became single-minded. It felt like I was left in the dark but this was a choice that I chose to change. Now, although I wouldn't say I'm informed on every topic, I try to watch the news whenever I can and I often research about topics I find captivating. I've SEEN the difference of being informed and learning about the news in my life has, i'm able to join in on many conversations about world-wide events, i'm aware of what's going on in my community and I have broaden my vision to all aspects of the news, NOT just my bias. Furthermore, I do Speech and Debate and I know just how important it is to stay on top of the news to do well in my debates. I know that staying informed will keep me at a competitive and competent level during my time left in school and even in my future work place because learning about the news doesn't just help with character development, it is a fundamental tool that will assist me for my entire life as I will have the knowledge and wisdom to advocate for what I believe is the right thing, not just through bias, but through my community that I am informed of an engaged with through the news, that is just how important it is in our lives.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because I am honestly a curious person. I always want to learn new things, want to solve problems and get to know what is happening worldwide. I think it is really very boring if we do not know about the global issues and news. All of us should always stay updated and active. If we know what is happening in the world, then only you are truly the part of the world. Explore, and you will find so many new things. These current news play an important role in my life as they keep me always updated and make me truly a part of the world.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it's like having a magical key to the world! Without the news, I'd be living in a bubble, completely unaware of everything happening around me. Imagine waking up one day and not knowing there's a giant storm coming, or that a new discovery could change how we live forever! The news helps me stay in the loop, like a superhero with the power of knowledge. If I didn’t know what was happening, I would be lost, like a ship without a map, floating aimlessly in the ocean.

Learning about the news helps me prepare for the future, like a knight gearing up for a big adventure. It keeps me from getting surprised or confused when things happen. For example, if I know about a big event or a new invention, I can talk to people about it and share my thoughts. It's like being part of a huge, exciting conversation where everyone is invited.

The news also opens my eyes to new ideas and things I never even imagined. It’s like finding a treasure chest full of stories, from the tiniest ants doing something amazing to the grandest events that change the whole world. Without the news, I would miss out on all these fantastic stories. So, learning about the news is like having a superpower, where I’m always ready for what comes next!

What if the key to understanding the future is hidden in today’s news?

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because I feel that the news is not just a piece of information to be left in the pile, instead it is something which makes our mind aware about the happenings about our own surroundings. This makes us self conscious and gives keeps us updated about any ongoing problems, developmental statuses, Sociological changes and many more crucial topics.Even the word N-E-W-S means North East West South referring to providing the latest information about all directions or in context all regions.News also helps shape our opinions and perspectives towards certain issues instead of just letting us know about the facts and statistics.

I feel that learning about news also educates us further and helps enrich our essential life skills like critical thinking, Problem solving and analytical skills. It also helps view the world from different perspectives and helps in all aspects of life.

To sum up,Learning about news is indeed important and very helpful too as it helps us throughout the life about learning about basic issues faced by the society and the happenings in our area as well as our country. It keeps us up to date on ongoing topics and helps take us actions accordingly and shapes our perspectives.

  • It is very important for me to learn about the news around me & I think it should be for all. With news we can stay updated of things and react to them on time. We can think on the news from different POVs and understand our world better. With better understanding we can make sensible decisions & not regret our choices later. If we know the news we can predict what will happen next staying ahead of most & do the required planning. If we read the cases in news about recent damages, mystery cases, ryots etc. our creativity (to fix the damages), problem solving (to solve the cases) leadership (to guide people to a non-violent path) can increase respectively.
If there is a serious problem like fire or floods & we don't know about it we face deadly consequences of the disaster. We might loose opportunities if there are news about jobs, scholarships etc. & we don't know about it. If we don't know what is going on we can easily believe on mis-info. A person not updated with news is not considered wise as best lessons come from the happenings in our surrounding.
Ex- In 2022 there was a heavy rainfall in Indore. All the roads were water logged but the most was Robert square. I completely ignored the news when my mom persistently told me to check it. After just 30 mins when we went out whole Robert square was water logged & the traffic was still. We were stuck for hours and I catched a cold. Unfortunately next day I had a quiz but could not attend it. Missing my dream opportunity of a lifetime. That day I pledged to check news everyday so I don't have to worry about certain problems.

  • I must stay informed about the news because it keeps me abreast of what is happening in the world and allows me to make better decisions in my life and for the future. The news affects everything from politics and economics to science, technology, and social affairs. If I do not know what is happening, I might miss important developments that could impact my studies, career, or even security.

It makes me think more critically, form well-informed opinions, and engage in reasonable discussions. It makes me understand how things that happen elsewhere in the world connect to my life and how I can contribute to society.

In the future, being informed will serve me personally and professionally. Whether it is understanding market fluctuations for employment, understanding what new legislation might affect me, or staying up on technological breakthroughs, being educated for the future enables me to meet challenges and opportunities head-on. It also conditions me to exercise empathy and world awareness of varying cultures and thought, thus making me a better and active citizen of the world.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because.... It helps us in many ways. For example it gives me ideas when I write school assignments or talk to others. This makes me feel more confident when I share my thoughts.

News also helps me learn about life. It could help me in the future when I start working, enter competitions, or even become a writer. I want to use news in my writing to make it more interesting!!!

If there was no news, the world would feel empty. We wouldn’t know what is happening in other countries, in wars, or even in our own country. That’s why I think it’s very important to know what’s going on all around the world!!!

    1. Thanks for sharing best_jambul!

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it informs me about what is happening around me and in the world. For example now just imagine you didn't know what corona virus was and you went out ''without a mask'' to a coffee shop, then they didn't let you in , wouldn't you be confused I know I would be . When you don't know what is happening in your community you will be unaware on updates and important information due to ignorance of situations and problems.
I also think that not knowing what is happening in the world will affect your relations with friends and family, for example, your friends are talking about the latest things happening in the stock market, and then your just sitting there clueless wandering what their talking about.
In conclusion not knowing what is happening in the world and around you can affect you in many ways. Both positive and

  • It's important for me to learn about the news because the news helps me understand what's going on in the world around me. The news covers topics like, Elon musk, Russia and Ukraine, and Women in Space which impact our lives somehow.Especially with all of the things that have been going on after the fact that I learned more about Elon musk.

By following the news I can see how things far away from me might relate to my community.
For example if there was news about climate change it helps me learn what we should do to take care of our environment, and maybe how I could help.

Being informed could actually help with schoolwork. Discussions in history or social studies can be more interesting and meaningful when i know what the topic is because I read it(commented on a topic related to or is the topic we learned in class.)

Learning about the news will also prepare me for the future, staying informed about the news helps me form my opinions and make the right decisions as I grow older. It also pushes me to contribute positively to my amazing community.

  • It's important for me to learn about the news because it helps me learn more about what happening in the world from wars, treaties, events, and more. It also helps me know the climate changes, Staying informed about politics and global affairs It helps me also know if there is any disasters and security threats in my area. I didn't forgot the social issues, like poverty and human rights.
This is how news helps me in my life in different ways. Hope this comment can make someone's view point change about the importance of the news!
    Thanks for reading.

  • It is important for me to listen to the news because, it helps me to know what is happening in my environment. And it can also inform me of global situations.
    THAN

  • It is important for me to learn the news, because I feel more united with the rest of the world's inhabitants. Distance often prevents people from knowing what the other countrie shave to face and what problems they may be dealing with. For me, it is a reminder of how much suffering exists, but also of how each and every joyous or saddening developpment is not just a person's, or country's problem: it concerns all of the people who share this planet as their home. Being aware of the developments around the world is important to me, so as to develop my empathy and sympathy for people outside my close social circle. It is eye-opening and contributes to seeing the bigger picture, to see outside my own personal life. If I didnt learn what was going on, I would never be able to stop focusing simply on my problems and start thinking more open-mindedly and realistically.

  • I think that news is really important because it describes things that happen all over the world like the war between Ukraine and Russia but social media today make the same thing as news so news became old ,only big persons like grandparents because they adapted on it when they was young so you mostly will find a few of people reading because they can know everything in few minutes, but however news describes the news in more details,I hope that you enjoy my comment

    1. What is the danger of only getting news updates from social media?

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it helps me to understand the world around me better. I can learn about informations from different countries, try to relate with them and their problems. Also we can learn about new projects, inventions or politics that may interest us and help us to choose our career one day. And for me the most important thing is that we need to hear and learn about the wars and the way that we can help or donate to the people that are in big danger.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because if I don't know about it, there can be serious consequences. Imagine there was an earthquake but since you didn't watch the news, you only knew last minute once the earthquake struck where you are. Also, you might miss some things you might never see again like a solar eclipse, blood moon, an event that had your favourite thing in the world. If you knew about these things, wouldn't you want to go there and see it? If we don't now about the news, you might miss something that you really would want to see. Don't just learn something nationally, find something globally so you don't miss out!

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it will help me to know everything that is happening in my community, country and the world at large for example when there is a crisis, war or danger, hearing about the news will make me more alert. An instance that comes to mind is when we had a crisis in my city, hearing the news made people avoid that particular spot, this saved a lot of lives. The news is very important because aside from helping me see what is happening around the world, it can people avoid danger, save lives and property. It can also help improve the economy of any country as people will be able to know where to make investments and where to not.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because... without the news I would not be able to interact with the society and will not know what people are facing.
If I do not know about the news I won't be able to speak out against gender bias, racism, human rights and unfairness, if I do not know about news I won't be able to use creativity and problem solving to think about ways to stop these problems.
In conclusion without the news I won't be able to think about my ideas and solutions to problems affecting me and the society.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it keeps me informed and also helps me express myself better. Listening to the news makes me smarter, this in turn affects my grades in school as I am able to think critically. Sometimes the news makes me sad especially when I listen to news like wildfire in California, natural disasters like the tsunami in Japan, war in Syria, Russia and Ukraine war. There are times news makes me curious, and I am particularly excited when this happens for example learning about breakthroughs in AI, discoveries in science like genetics and even weather patterns. I also love to listen to inspiring stories like when people overcome obstacles, for example learning about the underground hospitals in Ukraine made me excited.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it gives me more understanding about what happened in the past, what is happening right now in the world and what will likely to happen in the future. Learning about the news is good for my education, I get to learn about the laws of a country and how it affects us as individuals for example some countries have strict laws against criticism of the government while others don't, another example is laws regarding marriages, in some countries a man can marry more than one wife while in some other countries it is not allowed. News influences, inspires, and gives people around the world current situations and perspectives about a country. For me I think it is very important to be able to interpret the news in the right way.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it makes me understand what is happening in my surroundings. The weather news for example provides information on weather conditions such as rainy or dry seasons and the precautions we need to take in times of extreme weathers, security news on security of the surrounding so as to know when it is safe to be outside or inside, understanding the surrounding also educate an individual of the current happenings and trends so as to take precaution. News also helps let me know the dangerous situations in countries for example in cases of sickness and diseases, for example the 2014 outbreak of Ebola in Africa especially in Nigeria, my mum is a lab scientist, she talks about how afraid people were, but it is great to know that it was effectively handled in Nigeria. When I listen to news, because I am well informed, I feel safe.

  • I believe that the most important thing about the news is the facts it states in order to broaden our understanding on the world events. Thanks to observing the news, I have been able to greater understand the political standpoints of America and Ukraine as well as the events taking place in wars. This information allows people like myself to comprehend these events and understand the impacts it has on the worlds opinion of events. This is evident in the 12000 missiles England has provided to Ukraine which without the news I would not be able to understand like many in the world. These facts that the news factually check and provide with people allow many to have a greater knowledge on the dangers of the world and how many can support these events. With these facts as well, it challenges young minds in how tackle these issues and improve upon this over time to prevent these events influences others in the future. That's why the most important thing is that the news provides these facts in such a open format.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because aside from teaching me about what is happening in the world, I get to learn more information and facts including the economy for example I did not know much about the economy of my country but after watching the news I became better aware for example I learned that the rate of the dollar against the my country's currency the naira is 1USD =1,499NGN and because Nigeria depends on imports which is often priced in dollars it goes to say a weaker naira means import becomes more expensive. From the news I also know that Nigeria's trade balance is affected by the strength of the dollars. Listening to the news actually increases my knowledge and it also helps me answer history and current affair questions.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because if I don't learn about the news I will not know what is happening around the world and even in my local community. I think following the news has helped me a lot in my studies because I am now better informed and I am able to discuss more topics in the news with my classmates. Learning about security issues has also help us live peacefully in our community. The news about Russia and Ukraine has taught me to show concern towards other people. On February 28th 2025, President Donald Trump and the Ukraine president Volodymyr met to discuss the way forward, although the meeting got heated and did not end well, I was able to learn from the news about the views of both parties. I believe it will do everyone good to listen to news. Thank you

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because news carry and disseminate important information, and the news sometime can save lives if properly distributed. For example, a few months we heard in the news about the collapse of a school building, immediately people heard about the collapse many people went to the scene and joined in the rescuing the students. This wouldn't have been possible if we did not hear about it. The news can help in different ways for example in my education, in relating health issues, economic and environment issues etc. My point here is that the news is very important for our social life and well being.

  • It is very important for me to learn about the news and for everyone. As it helps staying informed about current events and news is crucial for many reasons. As being aware of what’s happening around the world and in our communities enables us to make informed decisions, think critically and develop a deeper understanding of different cultures and perspectives. But when I was a child I didn’t recognise the importance of news . But one day it made me realise . When I was sitting in my classroom and my friends were talking about some news in the local newspaper which I was unaware of which made me feel the importance of news and the news would even help us in many competitions. In last I want say that staying informed ignites personal growth , fuels global understanding and empower us to shape a brighter future.

  • For me News isn’t just something we read—it shapes the way we think, act, and respond to the world. Every story challenges our perspective, making us question what we know.

For me, news has been a game-changer, especially in debates and MUN. I once had to defend my country’s stance on global sanctions, and without staying informed, I wouldn't have been able to build strong arguments. News isn’t just knowledge—it’s power. It teaches us to analyze, connect ideas, and form opinions based on facts, not just assumptions.

But beyond debates, news fuels action. Learning about climate policies made me rethink my daily choices. Reading about global inequality made me realize that awareness alone isn’t enough—we need to act. News isn’t just about what’s happening; it’s about what we do with what we learn. That’s why I believe staying informed isn’t a habit, but a responsibility.

  • Hi everyone,
We should stay informed about the news because it is important for us by providing us with up-date, relevant, and accurate information for us. Being aware of current events, trends, and new developments allows us to offer insights that reflect the world as it is right now, which can enhance the quality of our conversations. Additionally, it enables us to respond to questions that might involve recent changes or topics that are actively evolving, so we can get the best answers possible.
So it is good to be informed about the news around us both globally and countries.
    Thanks.

  • I think it is important for me to learn about the news because it creates awareness for me and also enlightens me
on current happenings in my immediate environment and external environment. It helps to educate me and through this, it is helping me mentally and physically which has helped equip me with different skills and it is adding to my knowledge and understanding. The difference that will be made if I don't know what is happening in the news is that it will reduce my knowledge and understanding and it won't make me know what to do in times of danger and It will hinder me from being alert and cautious of my environment.

  • The reason it is important to listen to the news is mainly because it informs. Watching the news may save your life, for example, those in Ukraine who don't watch the news may not know what's going on and where not to go. The news tells you what's going on and keeps you updated. If you do not watch the news, you would most likely not know what's going on where you live. When people don't watch the news, it limits their view points. When people talk, you wouldn't know what to say and you wouldn't be able to engage in meaningful conversations with your peers. In other words, you would feel left out.

  • It is important to stay updated about the recent news which are connected to your place or country like some might be parents who has a school going children and if the parents are not engaged in seeing the news , in the news they will say like today is a holiday for classes 3 to 8 like this announcement is given but already the parents are not engaged in seeing this newses then there would be a lot of problem in sending the child to school properly and if a country is in a war severe war like Ukraine and Russia the people who are living in near borders of those countries should always be our should always see the news ask because in the new also they might say that an attack is going to happen on there area so they should be alert so that they can escape from their area I say that watching daily news is so good for you, the person who doesn't engaged in seeing news might be in lack of civic engagement, lack of social understanding, they don't know about the current events in there locality or their country they will get some feel, like the friends in that persons group might engaged in news so they will talk about the daily newses while they are in out or hanging out or talking in the mobile phone them I discuss about that but the person who doesn't sea uses in that friends group my seems to be speechless so it is important to see or be updated with the daily news .

  • learning about world news is important as while readding or hearing the news.. You will talk about the topic in your class it helps all of us to share all our opinion...

This help us to think in different point of view that helps in our lessons to think in different perspective...

  • It is important and crucial for not just me, but everyone else to learn about the news. It is important for me to learn about the news because it's a way for me to become updated with what is going on around me or in different countries. Not only this, but I can also have a better understanding of world conflicts and can potentially help people in need. Learning about the news can encourage people to take action, due to their compassion. There have been people who have spread awareness of wars like the one happening between Russia and Ukraine, even celebrities. This has led to outcomes as in charities, donations, etc, which can furthermore help people in need in times of conflict. Another benefit from learning about the news is also to keep myself safe. I can learn about what places in the world are safe and those who aren't. Overall, learning about the news can have many positive outcomes in helping to shape you into an educated and open-minded person.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it enhances my knowledge of the world around me. The wonderful thing about factual and unbiased news, is that it can tell me about events happening locally or worldwide. And events that are happening states or countries away, can affect me just like local news can. The news also gives me insight on places to avoid so that I don't risk my health, or places to go in case I need help. The news is a vital part of life and if the news did not exist, I would not be aware of the catastrophic or life changing events that happen around me.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because if we small kids don't know about what is happening in the news and some times when their country are having war the teacher tell them about the wrong thing to keep their country safe.
An example of a time that the news helped me is when the weather forecast told us that it was going to be rainy that day so i carried an umbrella and another time was when opal news told us about the accident around Lamingo roundabout
    THANK YOU

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because, if I don't know about the news, then I might not know about anything happening around me. The news can also help me to understand more about history, culture, agriculture, social life, and other aspects. I also think that why we should learn about the news is because, it helps us know about our leaders, learning about the news is also important, because it can help us know where the world is, where it is going to, how the world works, and the people making it work the way it works.

  • Hello everybody,
It is important for me to learn about the news as it expands my global knowledge and allows me to be a more rounded and knowledgeable in the future. For example the Syrian war I didn't know to much about and I thought that if you haven't lived in Syria for a long time it may not affect you as much. However when I watched the news and heard accounts from real Syrian refugees I understood that it does affect them as much as people who currently live in Syria. In this case listening to the news allowed me to open my heart and build empathy for those who are currently in this situation. It also allows me to become more knowledgeable on the subject so I understand where people come from. It also allowed me to deepen my understanding and formulate a more in depth and empathetic point of view. When I listen or watch the news it also allows me to build my global understanding and that life is not just about what you are gong through but other people are going through to. I think listening to news has allowed me to become a more empathetic and understanding person as I understand more what people have go through every day and expands my knowledge just from my daily life.
Therefore, watching the news has allowed me to become a more rounded and empathetic person as I grow my global knowledge on issues such as wars and gender inequality which I think is really important as a person.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it connects me to the world and helps me make informed decisions. Without knowing what is happening globally, I might struggle to understand major events that shape my future, from climate change to technological advancements. The news also broadens my perspective, allowing me to see different viewpoints and understand issues beyond my personal experiences. In the future, staying informed will help me navigate my career, vote responsibly and engage in meaningful discussions. News is not just information, it is a tool that empowers me to be an active and aware citizen.

  • It is important for me to learn the news so if there is something bad, I will learn from the people's mistakes and also the news is the window that I look from it through the world. It also helps me to get knowledgeable in the future. Did you know that the subject, history is extremely difficult in my school but because of the news that I gain every day I get the full mark in every. This is also actually because of the Topical talk festival. My class is the best class in History in the school because all of the students there are Topical Talkers so we must brainstorm and do a lot of research.

Really the news is something that I cannot live without it since it is significant.

  • In my perspective, I believe it is very important for me to learn about the news because news is there for everyone to know about your surroundings and what is going on in your society, country, and environment including children. Most times, children aren't interested in the news including me sincerely speaking because I find it boring but I realize that news will actually be helpful right now and in the future.

One aspect that news might be very helpful is by keeping me aware. I didn't really know what Syria was going through but thanks to the news, I was able to get informed and eventually I met the same topic in the festival. Thanks to the information I heard about Syria, I was able to communicate effectively with different hub users on that topic. I can see that listening to news can be very helpful even if you can't see the impact now, it may help you later in life.

A few days ago, a tanker filled with gas had an accident at a major round about in my community which prevented cars from passing. I got to hear about this through the news. Without being informed, I would have headed towards that direction just to be sent back because there was no passage but, since I was aware through the news, it saved my time.

To listen to news doesn't require going on social media platforms, but you can get informed by friends, family, school, teachers and so many other places.

News is very helpful and it's my gate way to know more about the world and keeps me current about happenings around me, and if there is a problem that needs me to respond quickly, I will be informed.

  • It's important for me to learn about the news because it connects me to the world beyond my daily life. Without it I would miss out on crucial events that shape my future, from scientific breakthroughs to global conflicts. Staying informed helps me form my own opinions, think critically and understand different perspectives . It also prepare me for the future by teaching me about the politics , economics and technology the topics that will influence my education and career. In a world where misinformation spreads very quickly , knowing the news allows me to separate facts from opinions and informed decisions. Whether it is about climate change , global trends or the local issues , the news help me stay aware and engaged as a responsible citizen.

  • Learning about the news is important because it helps you understand what’s going on in the world around you. If you didn’t know what was happening, you might miss out on important events that could affect your life, like, changes in your community , school , even things like safety or weather. By learning about the news now , you can be more informed, make better decisions , and stay connected to the world. In the future , knowing about current events can help you in school and with your jobs.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because the news gives me information, events, and things that are currently happening around the world. It is also important because it can also inform me of what is happening in my community. For example, I was on the news and I found out that a man with schizophrenia went missing in my community. So with that being said, I think that it is important for me to learn about the news because the news gives me information, events, and things that are happening not only in my community, but around the world.

  • Its important for me to learn about the news so I can contribute in global/local discussions. Without the news I wouldn't be able to understand any of the topics we talk about here on the Hub or on any other social media platform. Being able to interact with people from all over the world not only gives me a wider and more balanced perspective it makes me happy to know that I can share and receive knowledge, and all of this wouldn't be possible if I don't learn about the news. Aside from even online discussions, knowing the news allows me to engage in discussions with my classmates, friends and peers.

  • News is the only train to board to keep up with the world. It helps everyone keep up with current affairs, working of government and the local trends. Personally, news helps me foster a sense of responsibility for sensitive issues like global diplomacy, wars, or natural disasters and global warming. This responsibility stops me from doing unethical things, like throwing garbage on roads, by being present in the back of mind. News helps me understand both sides of the conflict with ease, fostering an unbiased image. Having to know both sides of the argument has several perks, like it helps me gain confidence in participating in discussions with family. News also helps me curb the news overload on social media, meanwhile people blindly trust that they see from social media platforms. It helps me identify what is fake in a matter of seconds.

If we move away from all the headlines, news feeds us with loads of statistics. Imagine knowing all the pitch reports, stats of your favorite player, head -to-head fixture and all the other insights beforehand. It makes any sports event a LOT more intrusive.

Now let’s talk about the ‘X’ factor, the benefits in school. News helps us connect current affairs with that of history, adding a whole another aspect of the boring history projects. We can’t ignore all the improvements in grammar and vocabulary, can we? Sharing those insights discussed before to your peers makes for some fantastic debates. To end, news have become a priceless weapon in the world of social media overload, and widens your perspective.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it helps me to know what is going around in the world, So that I can discuss with my friend in school or my family and share our opinions together.
Not only this following the news helps me to draw my point of view and to be responsible regarding what is happening around me.
For example if I don't have any information about climate change and its impact on our planet .. I would be harming our planet without even knowing, and also I would miss the chance to be an effective citizen.
    - Learning about the news is very helpful in drawing my future,:
Many careers depends on being knowledgeable
    Being an effective person
Training my brain to think differently

  • It is important for me to learn about news because it helps us to gain new perspectives about the prevailing situations around us and also gain knowledge about the topics related to them.I can get to know about different point of views and how it can impact our lives.
This in turn would help us to relate to the issue and seek creative solutions to the problem.Thereby helping us in developing and boosting our decision making skills.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because I can learn all about the world around me. This can help me discover new things, and learn about the experiences of others. I used to write comics and tell fictional stories before bed with my sister. The stories and experiences of others can give us inspiration to write/tell more diverse stories. Even if I don't use the news to help write stories it doesn't really change much in my life if I listen to the news, only my emotions. I don't want to hear about other people dying cause of events going on in the world because I'll feel bad for them and I'll probably ponder about all the horrors that happen all around the world. Listening to the news can also change my perspective on how I see the world. If major horrific events are going on in the world and I hear about it I'm going to see the world as nothing but a place of gruesome things and a place of sadness. But if something good happens and I hear about it I'm going to see the world as a place where things can be wholesome things can happen and that there is there is some good in this world.

  • Learning about the news is very important to me. When I red and acknowledge the news, it gives me a sense of awareness. The news exist in order to warn and prepare people for upcoming and recent problems arising in our society. This helps me to determine what safety measures I may need to take and account for. LEarning about the news can also help to increase my critical thinking abilities and health. For example, if a certain article list the health benefits that exercising is doing for hundreds of people around the world, I can increase my own health by trying out what was in the news! For critical thinking, I must experience and learn about the different perspectives of different stories which can give me a sense of reasoning and understanding about what others face. By understanding what happens throughout the world and in the news, I can enable more of my thinking abilities and better prepare for the future of our world.

  • It’s important for me to learn about the news, but why should I know what’s happening in my country or the world?
In my perspective, not everyone needs to stay updated, as some feel uncomfortable with the news.
For others, news is essential; without it, they feel uninformed. They believe that staying updated energizes them, but true energy comes from pursuing what you love.
For instance, I aime playing the piano, so I seek news about pianists.
Some believe, knowing the news isn’t crucial, as they prioritize their passions and daily lives over global events, which can be overwhelming and stressful.
However, others feel that staying informed is a responsibility, helping them make decisions and stay aware of important events.
In my opinion, knowing the news is important, but not more important than following your dreams. What truly matters is doing what makes you feel happy and inspired, that’s the real source of energy!
Hush-hush… don’t tell anyone, but passion will always beat the news 😉

  • I believe, its important to learn about what is going on in the news around the world because we need to know what is happening so that we can understand other people's situations and have more empathy towards them. Due to having this knowledge of the news, it could become part of young person's future careers and spark a passion for a particular topic. Not only does it affect careers and interests but can help individuals understand conversations and be able to include their knowledge and opinion in them.

  • I think we as children should know about the news because it could spark an idea or interest.
For example, my dream is to become an accountant. The economics on the news help inform me about what is going on around the world economically. I think money is a very challenging subject that children should know about to help them in their future. For example in the USA the value of the dollar has recently decreased dramatically and as a result this will have an impact around the world. This is an example of why we should know about the news.

  • It is important to see the news because we are the leaders of the future and we need to know what is going on in the world right now so we know what to improve later on in life if it hasn't been fixed already. Another point is if someone comes to one of our schools from Syria we will know what they have been through because we have learnt about it in the news so we can help them. I also believe that if we read the news we would get more knowledge of the world around us so we can be more cautious later in life due to what has happened in the news.

  • I believe that young children should get access to the news because if you over heard somebody talking about the news you could get the wrong idea and misjudge their opinion. The effect it would have on my life is huge because for future children, who are possible future leaders, this news could play an important part in not knowing. This would have big effects. Also, if a child is interested in a job that comes up on the news they would need the knowledge on this topic or they could spread misinformation. In addition to this, we need people who are experts in these topics . If we have random people with no expertise in these topics we could be in a world that isn't very happy about these decisions and misinformation being spread around the world. An example could be about people not knowing about Ukraine and Russia and Trump. Information Is Power!!

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because we are the next generation of leaders. If we don't know about what is going on in our world, the next generation could fail, and that would not be good.

Also, for example, if a Syrian refugee moves to our school, we have empathy and understanding, and the way we treat and communicate with them could be very different to how others may act.

Another reason is if we overhear others talking about fake news, (or other news) we won't be as worried and understand what they may possibly mean.

  • I believe it is important for young people to hear the news as it is essential to understand what happens around the world because it helps develop their opinions or could spark interests for example: climate change and politics. In conclusion, I feel it is crucial to hear the news to be informed and understand the world around you.

  • Because hearing others around and not understanding worming about something. Knowledge is power, young people are more informed. I believe this because they know what is happening around the world. For example some people don’t know that the Ukraine vs Russia war existed or that it is sill going on. Due to this I think that more people should watch the news, also we are the feature Leaders.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it will make a significant impact in our daily lives. If I do not know what is currently happening in the world, how would I know if there is a new president? Or if there is a new war that is about to happen? Without the news, no one will be able to know anything that is happening around the world or anything important at all. Learning about the news will help people in the future since with more awareness of the things that are happening in the world, many people will be able to speak out about what is happening. With more awareness of the world, the more information that will be put out on the event that recently happened. For example, before the news, I did not know that Syria had a new president which was a rebel that pushed out the Assad regime. This is why the news is an important asset in learning about new events that are going around in the world.

  • Hi all!
It is extremely important for me to learn about the news because we can understand the situation around us. Some news such as syria's current situation, fall of Assads and Mr.musk served as the advisor for triumph caught my attention and made me think about the unfairness of syrians and the increased political power of elon Musk. News made me to imagine that I am in the situation at that place like the country syria, where people protest for their fairness. When I imagined me in the place of syrians, I really felt heart broken and I realised the trouble of syrians. My opinion is that, news connects with people's inner hearts and create a unbearable mindset, which makes them realise and make them contribute to the society. While ,I see some pictures and videos in international news, I will think in a perspective that, if I am there in that position, what can I do. Here, I wanna share a recent news in Syria. I recently saw a news picture in which syrian journalists are protesting against the unfairness. I can't imagine me in Syria, holding placards and mikes, protesting for my justice. When we learn about news, we can unlock our potential to solve the problem because "STUDENTS ARE THE FUTURE LEADERS", it mainly empowers students to solve the issue. At conclusion I wanna strongly say that news connects with our mindset and heart and make us think that, we are in that position.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because basically everything happening all over the world effects me. How could we live a life without learning more about the news? Everything in our current lives depend on what is happening as a small war could spread through a whole entire region. Now, if you do not want to live in a remote world, then you have to check the news from time to time. I once stayed away from the news for only one week, and then I find that there is a a whole war happening in Syria, that could place its destiny any moment. This proves how important it is to stay updated on what is occurring all over the globe as it keeps us updated and without staying informed with local and global news, we couldn't have written these comments about different topics FROM the news!

  • It is important to learn about news because it’s important for young children to know exactly what is happening and where that is happening. From my point of view this is important because if children do not know about it in a SAFE way that does not make them feel very sad. If children don’t understand the concept of news sometimes being sad they could really be emotional when they eventually learn about it.

    1. How do you think we can inform young children of the news in a safe way?

  • It is important for everyone to learn about the news because it enhances our knowledge of what is going on in the world. If we weren’t informed of news, then we wouldn’t be able to find solutions to anything. This can create a massive negative impact on our environment and people’s intelligence. Imagine if we couldn’t solve any issues going on in the world! That would be disastrous. Additionally, this could also lead to job loss. Many people in the world have jobs as journalists, editors and photographers and not being able to learn about the news could lead to less payment or even job loss!
However, I think it is most important for children to learn about the news because they are the ones shaping our future and discovering solutions to many issues and problems. Without learning about the news, they won’t be able to do this. Our world will change for the worse. However, if everyone does learn about news our world will be a better place. Thank you!

  • It is important for me and also for everyone to know the news around us because I define it as a basic knowledge that everyone must know. It of course makes a difference in my life. For example, if there is continuous theft going around, I would be more careful, and if there's a sudden spread of flu, I would be hygienic and safe. By knowing the news, I would be aware and cautious of the events that are happening around me, and this applies to everyone. Without this basic knowledge, no one would survive safely. We must be aware of what's going on around us and what's happening around the world.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it helps me stay informed about what is happening in the world and how it affects my life. News provides valuable information about politics, economics, technology, climate change, and global conflicts, which can shape the way I think and make decisions. If I didn’t keep up with the news, I might be unaware of important events that impact my safety, rights, and opportunities. For example, knowing about economic trends can help me plan for my future finances, while being aware of social issues can inspire me to take action and be part of positive change.

Learning about the news also helps me develop critical thinking skills by allowing me to analyze different perspectives and form my own opinions. It prepares me for discussions with others and gives me the ability to spot misinformation. In the future, staying informed will help me adapt to changes in my career, participate in my community, and make educated choices about voting, investing, and personal safety. News connects me to the world and ensures that I am not left behind in an ever-evolving society.

  • In the news today, many amidst trouble worldwide, whether it be war or an extreme need for humanitarian aid. It is important for not only me but for many other individuals to learn about the news because it reinforces our societal knowledge and educational principles based on things being reported on our international or national news channels.

The difference in my life that may occur when I have no knowledge of what is occurring in the world is feeling more disconnected and isolated from any events or being able to empathize people's current situations.

In addition, the news also provides necessary information of any danger that might emerge on a day to day basis. This keeps you on your feet and thinking critically about certain subjects or topics that may provide misinformation or cause further confusion that can be resolved.

  • In my opinion, the most important decision to be made in Syria is whether there will be a new election or if they will keep the rebel president. I believe the decision is up to the people of Syria! Some rebels think that they should keep the rebel president since he was one of the many rebels who overthrew the Assad family. He probably won’t do the terrible acts the Assad family did, but some other people don't think that they should keep this rebel president. This is the case because they haven’t had the chance to know him personally.

When there is an election, there will be debates on what each president plans on doing. Also, they will also know the background of each president. But if the rebel president takes office, they will at least know that he won't be like president Assad.

Many rebels might disagree with my opinion, but it is up to the people to vote on. Mostly because they think that if the rebel president loses they will be back in misery. I don't believe that because if they have an election the people who wanted the election will vote for the right person. If the rebels really think the rebel president is the right person, he will be president through the voting process.

In conclusion, these paragraphs show both sides of the people of Syria whether they want an election or if they want a rebel president. I stated both reasons why there should be a new election or if they should keep the rebel president.

  • It is important for me to learn about news because it tells me what happens in the world. If I do not know what is happening, I may not be aware of important events that can affect my life, my nation, or even my destiny. News educates me about things in the world like war, global warming, and technology, and so I can make my own opinions rather than believing people blindly.
It will also make me ready for the future in terms of knowing news. I am developing critical thinking through questioning information and feeling prejudice. The more I know of politics, economy, and what is socially relevant, the smarter choices I'll make one day in voting, getting a job, or even exercising my rights.
The news also includes me as part of the world. News teaches me about different cultures, global affairs, and inspiring stories of change. Some other people may think that the news is bad, but I prefer to be aware rather than be unaware. Being aware makes me a responsible citizen of the world and able to contribute in discussions and build a better world.

  • I think it is important to learn about the news because it helps us to understand what others are going through and discover what is happening around our world. I think it helps our mental health and I think it is a very educational way to do so. It is a way to connect with others around our planet and think about how they might be feeling. It is a way to realise and remember how lucky we are not to be going through those kind of things, a way to find out how we can help and make a difference and a way to find out about different cultures and religions. I think it really helps us to accept others by knowing what they have been through around the world. This is why learning about the news is important to me and this festival has made me feel really happy and included. It has made me feel like I can make a change. Everyday, I have been really excited for the next lesson or time on the hub. I have learnt so much and I am really grateful for the experiences and opportunities.

  • Learning about the news is everyone’s responsibility and isn’t something that should be acknowledged by certain people. The news helps informs people about events such as war and helps people understand and realise the issues regarding topics. People can use their knowledge from the news aswell and other sources and can be safe in certain circumstances.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because the news help me know what is happening around in the world, and what small things we could do to avoid any negative impacts on different countries or even the world.
The news is basically some information about different events. For me, it represents a door open to the world. It helps me become aware of the challenges that the world is facing. The difference that it might make to my life if i didn’t know what was happening in the world would be that I truly wouldn’t be as conscious of danger. In some cases, the news tell us what to look out for and what to do. I see this as the news helping us become more mature and fully fledged. We become more sensible and careful around harmful situations. It helps us start thinking critically and correctly, and not directly and straight away.
In conclusion, I would say the news is a necessary part of our life. They help us see world better from different perspectives.

  • Learning about the news enables our awareness of global events by maintaining current information flow. Awareness of current local, national, and global events enables us to gain a deeper understanding of our world.

The impact of information permeates our everyday existence. Our decision-making processes and behavioural patterns receive influence from news about environmental issues, economic trends, and health guidelines. Our decision-making processes about social duties, financial matters, and health conditions benefit from its support.

The possession of knowledge enables human beings to engage in communication with one another. Our awareness of current events empowers us to express our ideas which then fosters detailed conversations. Through its influence we develop into conscious members of society capable of engaging with local communities and supporting personally significant causes.

  • News are the only way we get information from around the globe.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it can help me understand situations around the world and what is happening right now like the Russia-Ukraine war.It can also help me learn about the weather or current research.Learning about the news also helps me build critical thinking and listening skill by thinking about questions on the news or why this is happening.Last of all the new can help me have more ideas and interesting things to talk about with friends or family members.

  • It is important for me to learn about the news because it helps me know about things happening around the world , also apart from its usefulness in providing information the news also serves as an outlet for entertainment for instance the BBC "talking movies" segment, i learn a lot about new and interesting movies and actors that are in the mainstream. The news is also important to me because it helps me know if the town i'm staying is safe, if there is a new change or update, for example, we get important announcement of special holidays such as Independence day holiday, children's day break etc. The news is very useful to a lot of people also, it is used to send information to people around the world it connects people in such a way that someone in Nigeria for example knows what is happening in Syria without even stepping foot there, I know when and who eventually became the American president without being an American.
In general the news makes me to be a well-rounded individual it gives me an idea of how the whole world is including the good and bad part this has made me to appreciate life and be sympathetic to those who are having a difficult time. Thank you.
