  • from what Svetlana Tomlin said I would say that the long term effects of disrupting the education system in Russia, on individuals for instance the children, they won't be able to learn and acquire more knowledge for them to be more equipped with the proper knowledge they need at the proper time. While for the workers I would say it has more effect on them where by they will not be able to earn money that would be able to sustain them.
On the country for instance the economy and potential for progress , due to the fact that the country is under a war the schools in the country would have to be closed especially government owned schools would have to be forcefully shut down where by reducing the income rate for the government. So I would end by saying education is very important, to inspire the children and to aspire them to be greater in the future. thanks.

    1. I agree because, education is very important and essential to the lives of human whereby humans are expected to get over a period of years. So i would agree and say that its still very important to the people but during this war the children have not been able to go to school but i do believe that this matter can be tackled where by the citizens can all decide to create an online forum for the kids so as to still be able to acquire knowledge and skills . so i stand my ground saying that Ai and the internet can be very useful to the country at this very critical moment . thanks.

      1. I agree with this as i beleve all young children should have the right to get education and i think that its unfair that they arent getting the best education because of the war so when they grow older they may struggle to get a better job.

        1. I totally agree with you. Every child has the right to a good education, no matter where they are or what’s happening around them. It’s really unfair that so many kids miss out on learning just because of war. Education shapes their future, and without it, they’re left with fewer opportunities as they grow up. We need to do more to make sure every child, no matter their situation, gets the education they deserve.

          1. I totally agree with you, just will add a couple of more of my view points.
            1. Education is indeed very inportant and its like the basic human right of any child to have access to adequate amount 9f education and literacy, for which the educatiin sysyem of the countries needs to be redesigned in a way that it reaches every child of the country.

2.Making proper access also means that besided government agencies and educational istitutions, efficeint NGO's and programs can also help to spread awareness in remote areas ans making everyone literate.

        2. I agree with you because if students don't go to school they might be delayed to finish school and late to get a job. So this war is supposed to be stopped because there are many effects of this but mainly because of the children's education will be affected.

      2. I absolutely agree, as I think all people should get the right to get education, and I think it isn't fair these schoolers are not getting at least decent education. this could make it hard for them to get a job later on in their life.

  • I think that long- term consequences of children without education are consequences such as lack of literacy, lack of skills they learn during schooling, which can lead to their future job opportunities being limited. It can also affect the country itself, if the workforce is poorly educated, the economy will not succeed, that is, there will be no economic growth. Education is also important for technology and science, and without it there is no progress in technology or science. Croatia also experienced major disruptions in education during Homeland war (1991.-1995.) where many schools were destroyed, students had limited access to education, and teachers emigrated to survive. Fortunately, Croatia is now progressing and has an improved education sistem.

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

    2. I agree because... Education is a key factor that people need to make it through life. To add to your point there is also a lack of ingenuity that comes with a lack of education. Looking back to a past topic being "One small step for women, one giant step for mankind" That will lead to even more women with a lack of education and they might become a house help and they will not still become people that can help the society and they need more of that in the society. I feel very sorry for Ukraine and their women and also their men because, the men that are 25 years to 30 years old have to go to the war then the women take care of the house and the children. And one day the men could come home and find their house destroyed and that is not fair, the men are trying to help their country and the women are trying to help the house but the wives get harmed for no reason. They have nothing to do with the war and also the children did not commit any crimes either. In conclusion most people (especially women and children) did not do anything wrong that cause people to get harmed for no reason.

    3. This is a valid point you got here. It took me back memory lane of a particular time in Nigerian history when the northeastern part were held siege due to the activities of the boko haram insurgents. History had it that between the 14th-15th April, 2014, over 276 female students between age 16-18 were kidnapped from a boarding facility. It didn't just affect j
the families of the affected children, but the whole nation came to a stand still because everyone was wondering where the next place of attack will be. It made families withdraw their children from schools that were far from the parents supervision. Now within the chibok environs, educational activities were suspended for a long period of time, which affected both the teachers and students because schools were burnt, teachers and students killed, businesses put on hold. All these have long term effects on children both physically, mentally and all round. There was mass 'exodus' because people had to leave their original place and migrate.
Nigeria is still trying to push forward and look for means to mitigate the impending issues of crisis, kidnapping and violence. I hope some day, the nation will rise above the ills and limitations.

      1. Mindblowing_drum thank you for sharing this with us.

    4. I agree because many schools are being destroyed and most kids stop learning which hurts them in the future and makes it harder for them to get a job. I must note that some schools do online but I believe that's not helpful for certain people. I know this by experience because during Covid-19 when we moved to zoom I found it hard to learn. I thought zoom was hard because the environment around me became distracting and hard to learn. Another reason that I found zoom to be hard is because there were no teacher to help me understand and some of us learn better in person with a teacher who can come and personally explain it to you. I also feel these schools being bombed is traumatic for the kids who survive because the thought of going back makes them sick and scared. Because when they go its hard to learn its like coming back after a school shooting its hard to focus. It distracts them and has them looking outside and constantly worrying about dying or being bombed.

    5. I completely agree. The children's education effect the progress and advancement of the country itself due to jobs not being fulfilled or extra time and money spent on the education that could be used elsewhere for a greater impact. The improvement of science studies is very important as cures for diseases and discovering new illnesses is crucial to keep everyone healthy.

    6. I totally agree with you since the students today are the leaders tomorrow if their education by any means - violent or non - violent, social or political - if distrupted would not only deprive them of opportunities but their basic right to know the truth and the exact facts about their country rather than the sugar coated facts being told by their government.
I strongly feel that education is the most powerful weapon and by disturbing the education of young minds not only their subjective knowledge is being hampered but so is their personal development since the students rather than learning from the environment around them are actually afraid of it due to constant threat of war looming around their temples of knowledge. These students who are being educated during the war with the partial and exaggerated facts , hiding the pain and suffering of the other side and portraying the other side as "wrong" are actually being filled with hatred against eachother which leaves a lasting impression in their hearts.
Also this would lead to lack of skilled human resources to function the major industries thus leading to rapid recession in economies.

  • I would say that the long-term effects of disrupting an education system in Russia would have impactful consequences. Some of these issues would be the children's declining literacy rate, and knowledge within certain areas of learning that they might only be able to learn in the school systems. There would also be a steady decline for the teachers in Russia with their payment not being stable which could be very impactful. There would also be a huge decline on the country since, as seen in the video, Russia believes strictly on ideology. This means that they are giving out unfair education to children and that they have a set view on how things are and that they should stay within that certain way or factual state. This can have a massive impact on the country's economy and the potential that they have for progress by students not getting the education that they need to qualify for jobs that they might want to pursue. Like being a doctor, or a lawyer. Within the U.S Trump has talked constantly about demolishing the Department of Education. This could leave many students without schooling and teachers without jobs. This situation is very impactful for everyone around the world especially when education is the strongest form of knowledge that one can have in today's day and age.

    1. You have explained your views on some interesting points here - based on your comment about President Trump wanting to demolishing the Department of Education, what are the suggestions to replace this and how would that affect people in the US?

  • Greetings! I believe that the long-term effects of disrupting an educational system might cause an abundance of negative effects on many individuals. For example, children who depend on school for most or all of their education and knowledge may be left behind by others. They may have to repeat certain grades and their educational path may be hindered and deflected. When these kids from Russia apply for certain jobs or colleges, they may be overlooked for gaps and missing/unknown years. Workers may also be negatively effected and challenged. When working in the educational industry, teachers and principals cannot perform their jobs without the presence of kids and when war strikes this effects the attendance of children in the school. This inevitably leads to cutbacks and causes problems from families and individuals who require a job to support themselves. I believe that we should find a way to prevent educational mishaps and challenges that happen because of war. There is always a solution. Thank you.

    1. Exuberant_grape, do you have some ideas about what some solutions might be to ensure education continues during disruptions like wars or natural disasters?

    2. I agree! Disruption of an education system causes harm at many points, not only among the students but also for teachers, principals, etc. One fact that is often overlooked however, is the long term psychological issues such disruptions can cause. Some kids might develop depressions, etc. from being left home alone and having nothing to do. For example, in the Corona pandemic, many students were still affected by psychological issues they developed, long after the pandemic had ended. The same could also be said about the workers at school who also have nothing to do.

  • Disruption on the education system can be very detrimental towards everyone, whether in Russia or Ukraine. I say this because children won't have the proper resources to gain more knowledge to be prepared for the world. Basic knowledge as in addition, subtraction, reading, and writing are crucial tools in becoming successful and falling behind can be very harmful as you are not fully ready to go out into the world and get a job. For example, when there was a Covid outbreak in America, the government took health as a priority and switched people to online school. This isn't as bad as the war that kids in Russia and Ukraine have to deal with but, it was definitely more difficult to learn with. I was in 3rd grade at the time of online school and it was really hard doing work as I wasn't familiar with Zoom, Google Classroom, technological devices, or really just the whole concept of online school. Most of my class fell behind and I still had to pay the consequences in 4th and 5th grade because I didn't have the background knowledge of fractions or writing essays. Imagine what the kids in Russia and Ukraine have to deal with. After years of not learning much, there will be consequences that they can't avoid. They won't be able to get a sustainable job. Even jobs like a cashier won't be an option because it deals with math and adding and subtraction decimals. Not only can this affect the children, but as well as the teachers and principals. School is their main way, if not only source of income. Without income coming in often, necessary resources will eventually run out.

    1. I really like how you compare your own experience to help you understand the experiences of others, while also acknowledging the differences.

  • In my opinion, disturbing education is causing significant problems and damaging many generations, resulting in long term effects on both individuals and on the country and I will explain how it is affecting each one.
    INDIVIDUALS
If someone didn't learn the basics in learning he will struggle to work in the future. Someone who didn't understand addition when he was young will not be able to be a math teacher and same with other jobs and subjects so this will be making a huge effect in the future.
    COUNTRY
It is the same in the country as individuals but on a large scale. What I said about someone in the individuals is the same for everyone else as a whole generation can't work so the country will face severe problems in the future.

To conclude, disturbing education is a huge problem, so war must stop now and I don't support any side, I support peace that will help generations and save future so even if war continued education must not be disturbed under any circumstances.

    1. I really like how you have made a link between how education affects individuals and how that can affect a whole country.

    2. I agree with the points you have made here. From my view, the disruption of education will lead to a large amount of children to lose out on important skills. As these children grow up, their ability to work jobs that require those skills will be hindered due to the disruption. In turn, this will affect the country in their workforce. To expand on what you said, I think that the disruption of education will setback the knowledge and understanding of educational material for children. Despite how well they might be able to set the children back on track, many of them will be setback a bit in the future, and this will affect the country on a large scale as many people were affected.

    3. I agree because...
Education helps increase people's knowledge, if they are not able to acquire knowledge, they will be behind their pairs in other countries. Also many countries have education patterns that are different, so if a child moves to another country his education would be disrupted and also have to learn a new system of education where children will also have to adapt to a new environment, new school and new friends which could be traumatic for many children.
Also it will subject them to certain jobs and since the war affects a lot of people, which will cause drastic reduction of people in a particular field.
With all these factors affecting war, children's knowledge growth will have a gap as many children would forget what as been taught and will not know what they should learn.

  • The socio-economic damage that disrupting an education system could cause is absolutely tremendous, even if you overlook the workforce sector, the ideology being pushed would permanently imprint on those children, not allowing them to become proper citizens, I mean look at past examples like the USSR, people still have a good view of Josef Stalin today, even with a full understanding of the evil he took part in. To talk about the workforce is a whole different matter, not only would, as she said "not being allowed to have access to certain materials" be detrimental to the success of many journalists, who rely on these materials, but it would also stunt innovation . To give an example to a time my country experienced a disruption, I would like you to know about the massive effect Covid had here especially in rural areas where online classes weren't easily accessible ,about 22.4 million elementary students were put out of school and a whopping 7,403 schols closed around the country and that doesn't even cover the higher institutions. I know everyone felt Covid some more than others but I really can't deny the damage it did here.

    1. I like your comparison of how students were affected in your country during the Covid pandemic. Can you explain how this has impacted people there and if there are any plans in place to resolve this?

  • The thing that stopped us from learning and got the economy down is COVID-19. First, our country ( Egypt ) banned everyone from school which really effected people's work like teachers and bus drivers. The most shocking thing that their was lots of people who lost their job just because of COVID-19. Plus....there were thousands of people who had COVIDE-19. And shops closed at 9pm, people had less salaries because they working at home which really effected the families needs.

But on other hand, people used it to improve themself and being famous by selling things online making something new to us online which really made them famous, inventors on internet plus it was increasing their money.

So in my opinion I think COVID-19 was somehow was good for online selling but bad in death and sickness.

Thanks for your time, Topical Talkers ☺️

    1. Thank you for sharing, how did you find online learning during Covid-19, and do you think it effected your own education, for better or for worse?

      1. Thank you for encouraging me about my comment. 😊

Actually, COVID-19 did not effect my education we just learned online but the only problem was that when the internet connection was bad I didn't understand very well. So the teachers recorded the session for absent students. In addition, they sent us videos about the topic to make sure we understood.

Plus, learning online reduces time wasted and is a good way to learn.

So in conclusion, learning online saves time and effort plus we learn new things which of course will help us in the future. For me it is really important, an example for it...Is that I have an online course about programming. So in COVID-19 it didn't make my education worse it made it better.

      2. Covid 19 effected education worse for the learning environment a student previously in such as myself from personal experience. And its not the same but its similar in some ways for war. From personal experience from staying home due to the infectious virus it was like the walk in the park.No challenges, no brain little trivia's, it felt easy in a way.All you had to do was sit back and semi-learn from the teacher.Yeah you had to learn but there wasn't stress in the mix.The lunch time felt way bigger than it was because we are at home. Not did this effect our educational environment but our social awareness too. When I came back from 2nd grade year to 3rd, my social awareness was so bad.It hit like awkwardness! No one wanted to be there, it was completely new than what we were use too back in previous grade, it just hit like rocks.SO you can imagine what these kids in Ukraine and Russia would come back like after years of war.It would be so bad for those poor kids... its genuinely going to feel so awkward for them.

    2. I totally agree with your points you have mentioned best_jambul, that COVID -19 had its ups and downs but we should not forget how it affected many country's education system and policies that they used prior to its happening. For example let's take the country India, for me having the experience.

Here, we had been really affected during the times of COVID and the most part of this affect was for education. We prior had different ways and activities we could apply for the better understanding of difficult topics of subjects but suddenly it came to a pause. As a result, the understanding of base and conceptual knowledge of each student was definitely differed. This was not the only setback caused by COVID.

But on the other hand it lead new innovations to be found for the running of businesses during these tough times and as you mentioned, the selling of online products reached its peak.

Nevertheless though, what I think is that COVID was a bad memory for all of us which did afterall affect the education system of many countries but courageously did we cross this puddle and lead again to the betterment of the society.
      Thank you

  • In my opinion, the long-term impact of disrupting an education changes the way a country is heading drastically, and not in a good way. For children, the disruption of their education could mark the beginning of struggle as they didn't have access to learning materials. Children miss out on critical years, which make it difficult for them to develop. During World War II, many European nations had to drop the ball on education funding to continue supporting the war effort.

Another area is the psychological impact, children living in warzones experience loss, displacement, and trauma which all compound together to set children up for failure as their cognitive abilities begin regressing. Girls and marginalized groups are unfortunately the worst victims of the psychological impact of war. For adults, disrupted educations could result in a significant skill gap which makes them unable to find jobs. In post-conflict Afghanistan, decades of brutal warfare left the majority of the populace uneducated.

At the national level, the disruption of an education system can destroy a country's socioeconomic status. Civic duty and democratic participation drop down to a halt as the government can't handle the stress. Countries economies begin dropping as all they can do is watch as their currency becomes near-worthless. As people live in slums and ultimately, they can do nothing because of the lack of education. Culture also get erased as libraries and museums get destroyed.

In conclusion, the disruption of education systems leads to the downfall of a nation.

    1. Excellent comment, thank you for sharing. I love how you have considered the impact of events on education at different levels. With your examples, can you suggest ways governments can overcome the education challenges, for example during the recent pandemic we used online learning. How do you feel about this?

      1. Thank you for your kind words, Ollie! During crises like wars or pandemics, flexibility is key. Online learning, as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, is a powerful tool but access to it matters. In areas with limited internet, governments can partner with NGOs to distribute offline resources or leverage low-tech solutions like radio/TV lessons which actually worked in post-conflict Sierra Leone and during the Ebola virus. For displaced children, mobile schools or "schools in a box" (portable kits with supplies) can help students come back to their routines.

Psychological support must be provided alongside learning. Training teachers in trauma-informed care and creating safe spaces (even something as simple as a makeshift classroom) can help students heal. Girls and marginalized groups need targeted outreach to prevent dropouts due to mental health issues.

Rebuilding post-conflict needs to be prioritized. Afghanistan shows how skills gaps can be dangers and need to be fixed. Vocational training and adult education programs can help mitigate these issues. Diverting military spending, as post-WWII Europe did to rebuild their schools and train teachers. Cultural preservation is also needed. The digitization of archives or creating community-led oral history projects can make cultures safe.

In conclusion, there is no one solution, but a mix of technology, community and political education can turn education from a casualty to a catalyst for renewal. Always remember, "let's keep learning from the past to make the future a place we want to visit." - Steven Hawking

  • I suggest that the Russian government should spend more money on improving the education system. Some long term effects of disrupting their system for education could be a lack in new technologies and less innovation. With less innovation, the children will be used to the same thing over and over again, causing less variety in things, resulting in less potential for economic growth. Improving the education system and making schools a safe place for kids again could be an important thing to do if Russia wishes for economic growth and the development of children. To conclude, spending time with kids, and improving how they are learning would lead to more innovation and more potential for economic growth.

    1. Thanks for sharing, if there has been a gap in education, how can we catchup?

As a student, what would you say to students that have been impacted by the war?

    2. Hi polite_atmosphere!! I totally agree with your points!!! Like you said, I truly believe that there should be more money spent on improving education systems, not just in Russia but in Ukraine as well. I also agree that the disruption of education systems can and will lead to a lack of innovation and disturb the economic growth as well. In response to the question Ollie Technology Consultant asked you, we could use that money to implement AI into education. Implementing AI as simple as Khan academy can provide personalized lessons to students and close gaps in education. By providing each student with their own personalized plan we can ensure that they all grow to the same level despite the disruption caused by political conflicts like war. Furthermore, I believe that WE as students can provide words of comfort to those students impacted by the war. Although we can never image their struggles as we have't lived them, we can offer words of comfort along the lines that their education still matters and won't be ruined because of external factors they have no control over. That despite every hardship they see in their way, they're smart and strong enough to overcome them. Once again, I truly agree with your points and believe that innovation and economic growth will be fostered by focusing on education and getting it back on track!!

  • The long-term effects on disrupting an education system, for children, would be devastating. Children would have wildly low literacy rates, none of the necessary social skills they get from school, and cognitive development would be stunted. Children with a lack of knowledge and life skills will have a harder time finding jobs and providing for themselves in the future. That means parents will have less time to be able to work and make money, because they're too busy taking care of and teaching their kids. With a lack of a strong workforce due to them not having an education, the economy will crumble. If anybody manages to gain a job they will not know what to do, which means no money coming into the country.

During WW1 the United States' education was disrupted. Students were urged to enroll in classes to prepare them for the war, Women in nursing and men in military sciences. The students who weren't LEARNING about the war were drafted, so the enrollments in universities declined heavily. Teachers were also enlisting, so a lack of educators led to a lack of education. To make matters worse, the schools themselves were being used as hospitals for the injured soldiers. It wasn't a good time for young people to need to learn.

  • The war has impacted many people in different ways, one of which is education. As we all know, education is an important part of life that helps many people succeed, economic wise or just in general. The lack of education would reduce the employment rate and the county's literacy rate along with their standard of living. A global event similar to this is the COVID 19. Here in America, students had to stay home and learn via online. This caused many distractions and was very unmotivating for students. If it continues to happen, students will lack in critical thinking and their social skills. As they grow up, they wouldn't have any talents or skills that can assist them to find a good job with good income. Furthermore, workers had to stay home as many public places were closed to prevent spreading this illness. This severely impacted the economy and lead to many people being broke.

  • The ongoing war in Ukraine has caused significant disruptions to the education system, with long-term consequences in different ways:
    1. children
-Disrupting school leads to learning loss, impacting literacy, numeracy, and cognitive development.
-Disrupted education can prevent children from accessing crucial skills and knowledge, hindering their future opportunities and social mobility.
    2. Workers
-Parents who must care for their children whose education has been disrupted may be less productive at work or unable to work at all, especially if childcare is unavailable or inaccessible.
-Disruptions to higher education and vocational training impact the workforce's skillet. this can lead to shortages in specific areas and hinder economic growth.
    3. Economy
-Long-term educational disruption reduces the quality of the workforce, hindering productivity and economic growth. This has a knock-on effect on the country's potential for innovation.
-The long-term health and social costs associated with childhood trauma resulting from war, including mental health treatment, are substantial and put strain on resources.
    4. Potential for progress
-Educational disparities will likely widen, exacerbating existing inequalities within society and hindering opportunities.
The international community will also play a crucial role in providing humanitarian aid, support for education reform, and economic assistance to aid in recovery and rebuilding.

  • In my opinion the long-term effects of disrupting an education system might have a strong impact on the country. I feel like when kids take a break from learning it might make their generation less intelligent and when you think about it that is horrible news for the economy and potential progress. For example, in my country covid-19 harmed kids' ability to critically think, write essays, and read and still to this day the effects from it are still lingering. Kids are struggling to write grammatically correct essays as well as struggling to read and this could be a problem for those who want to see progress in the economy. It is very important to read and critically think when you are trying to create future progress in the economy because it depends on the people and others ability to make good decisions. It is important that kids have an education in order to protect and maintain the econemy and potential growth because without it they would make decisions without critically thinking which could hurt the econemy and the future progress that is to come.

  • The long term effects of disrupting education could mean less kids would get daily education that is needed. Less kids being educated could lead to them growing up without education. And without an education most jobs won't let you work. Some Jobs employ based on experience but most are based on how educated you are. And this could lead to a rise in unemployment. And unemployment could lead to poverty levels rising. This could break a cycle that supports the economy. The cycle starts with kids being educated, then they move on to find jobs, after they make money and pay their taxes or pay the government in whatever way they are required to,the government would be supported, finally the process would start all over. The disruption of education could affect not just students but businesses, workers and other people's everyday lives as well.

    1. Thanks for exploring the cycle of how impacted education can then scale up to have strong consequences for an economy. Do you think Governments think about education enough?

      1. No, I do not think the governments think about education enough. I don't think that governments see that education is essential to the economy. Disrupting education can lead to higher poverty rates and higher unemployment rates. Proper investment in education helps Maintain a stable and educated workforce. In conclusion,I don't think governments pay enough attention to education but, they should because of the risk of hurting the economic cycle that supports the economy.

        1. Can you tell us where you found evidence to support your opinions?

  • In my opinion, education is one of the most important factors in building countries, and disrupting the educational process leads to a high rate of illiteracy in society, which affects the economy of countries. The child's continued attendance at school to learn makes him build a knowledge base that increases day after day, which increases his acquisition of skills and knowledge. As for interrupting education, the child loses the skills and knowledge he acquired, which leads to a weak academic level, which negatively affects his career future. How can he join the university that qualifies him for the labor market later if he is weak in his studies? He also loses his communication skills with others.
Many employees work in the field of education, whether teachers, administrators, security and cleaning workers. All of these will have their work disrupted with the disruption of the educational process, which increases the rate of poverty and unemployment. The economic collapse of countries. How can we build and develop when we do not have many surviving engineers? How can we establish many hospitals when we do not have many successful doctors to work in them? All this is due to the low educational level resulting from the disruption of education.

In Egypt, the people revolted on January 25, 2011 to change the regime. This had the effect of disrupting education out of parents’ fear for their children due to the spread of chaos and theft. It also led to the disruption of work , which caused an economic and educational deterioration

  • One of the long-term effects disrupting an education system has on individuals is that children will no longer have the luxury of learning without being interrupted. As Svetlana Tomlin said, the children don't have access to certain learning tools and are not allowed to share certain ideas. This is severely harmful to their future. Children are the most fragile because what they are taught now shows what they will be like when they grow up. Svetlana Tomlin talked about how one ideology is the only thing that adults and children can share in schools. This is not right. When the children grow up, they will not be used to freedom and treat anyone who thinks differently as outcasts, and repeat the cycle they have now. When the children are at risk, so is the country.

It also led to the disruption of work , which caused an economic and educational deterioration.

  • The long-term effects of disrupting an education system can range from the decrease of educational abilities to lack of creativity engagement, both social and cognitive activity. This creates an unstable structure for students to build on, having gaps in education where they were not provided proper knowledge due to their immense hindrance. This circumstance may also be a struggle for school workers, having to learn new ways to proceed with hosting classes. Many workers are being cut off from vital resources and basic standards that need to be taught in an educational environment.
Regarding the country, having a setback in the educational system may affect their country's economy, especially regarding their literacy rate. In the future, because of these adversities, many young children may face difficulty when facing the real world as they grow up, with no set prior knowledge for their environment due to the educational gaps in the system.
In 2019, a vast amount of my country outbroke in one of the deadliest pandemics worldwide, labeled the Coronavirus. This virus is still ongoing, and has caused the death of around 18.2 million individuals worldwide. Many people were subject to join classes on virtual meeting platforms, such as Zoom because of the unsafe environment. This virus was unexpected and caused an immense complication worldwide to people of a variety of ages, including enrolled in schools. Many individuals were subject to teach basic skills to themselves while being online. This quarantine lasted for a year, cases of the virus still floating around.

  • A long-term effect of disrupting the education system in Russia I could see happen is that children may start to lack social skills to communicate, and this can negatively affect their life later on. Due to war, many schools may have been shut down or have started to do more virtually, children have little outlet to meet others or new people. The situation reminds me of when my country, America, had to go into lockdown, and school became online. It caused a lot of children to fall back in their education, and according to Vox.com, children as young as 4 to 5 had been misbehaving since after the pandemic. It also stated that many of them were isolated during the pandemic. So I feel the restricted education due to war could cause some social development issues in children.

    1. But I recommend you thinking about the education system in Ukraine too, because Russia does the offense and Ukraine is small country in terms of Russia, so I see that it is obvious that Ukraine's education has been disrupted more than Russia's because of the mass bombing Russia is doing.

    2. Agreed. The disrupture of children's education system during the covid 19 pandemic has long-term and serious effects on their overall developement. The examples you have provided are accurate and real. I'd also like to add on a few things.. Like, during the pandemic caused by coronavirus, children's education shifted from offline to online which increased their screentime and use of digital tools on regular basis. Children living in Ukraine are going through the same! Because of the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war, the education system of these countries is interrupted, leading to the closure of schools and educational institutions, pausing learners' education as the war continues. According to unicef.org, 5.3 million children with 3.6 million other learners are affected by the stopped academic progress, reducing their social activities and learning progress. This turns out to be one of the many reasons why wars don't always lead to peace or betterment, instead we are inviting many problems while solving one.

  • When the education system is disrupted, it can create big problems for people and the country. For individuals, like children and workers, it becomes harder to learn important skills, get better jobs, or have a successful future. The whole country suffers too because there aren't enough well-educated people to help the economy grow and create new opportunities. This can lead to more inequality and social issues. We can see real examples in countries affected by wars or disasters, like Syria. The war there has damaged school and stopped many kids from getting a good education, which decreases their chances for a better life and makes it harder to regrow the economy and social stability for the country.

    1. I'm not sure about this because, I do not believe that all in the name of an on going war children wont be able to gain quality education. don't you think that the children can still gain quality education through the help of AI and the internet? please what do you suggest. Thanks.

  • Long-term effects of disrupting an education system could be fear, paranoid feelings, or more. The children could be afraid to go back to school because they would be scared a bomb could hit them, or get shot, like in war. The children cannot just go back to school and act like everything is back to normal, and neither can teachers. Students could also struggle to focus on their work and learn. Teachers could be worried about their family at home or paranoid of lockdowns happening. The effects the war has had on the country is that many stores could shut down and not open up again. Overall, these could be ways the long-term war could affect countries like Russia and Ukraine once the war is over.

  • Hi everyone,
Things need to be done about education, because if students are well educated, when they grow up, with they help of education and some others things they learnt from school like thinking outside they box , skills and leadership skills and so on, they will be able to solve the issues and they war against their country and Ukraine .
But with they war that is going on between their country and Ukraine students will not be able to go to school even those that have the zeal to go to school, will not be able to go to school again and it is bad for students because they think that when they go to school , they think it is not safe because of what is happening in their country.
For things to be done about education, first, they both country should make peace among they two countries so that buildings like hospitals, homes, and mostly schools will not be destroyed for students that are willing to go back to school.
    Thanks.

  • A lot of children/teenagers education is interrupted which leads top exams failed, less smart and they wont get their dream job and end up on streets when their older. It's unfair but we can't do anything about it since it is war. Also for work they wont be able to earn money and feed themselves and their family which will lead to starvation and possibly death. However I like how other countries are helping by leting people/children into their countries and without the donations and charities supporting Ukraine, Ukraine would've been defeated already unless they had a lot of recourses and food plus fresh water.

  • Disrupting education can hurt people and countries for a long time. Children may struggle to learn basic skills, fall behind in school, and face mental health issues. This can limit their future job options and income. Workers may find their skills outdated, leading to lower productivity and job insecurity. For countries, a less educated workforce can slow economic growth, increase poverty, and reduce innovation. In doing so, this can create more inequality, weaken the economy, and make hard work for the country not to progress further. In short, disrupting education harms individuals and holds back entire nations. So education is must important for all the life's .Without education, a country cannot achieve true wealth. So the each countries government should encourage the students to be better educated.

  • Education is the backbone of a nation. Lake of education can have a profound and severe impact on the future of a nation. It's not limited to individuals and Nations, it can have severe impact on the territory of the state. At a certain point, lake of literacy and skills prevents individuals from getting good jobs which increases poverty and social inquality in the long run. Similarly, having an under educate workforce hinders economic growth as technology and social based is not possible.
Long term effects of educational disruption:
    • Lack of literacy and skills.
    •Limitations on economic growth
    •Social and psychological effects.

  • I think disturbances in the education system may lead to a prolonged lack of working-class people in Ukraine. Many young people have fled the country in search of better lives abroad. People, as a vital resource, are extremely important to a country's success. Ukrainian government should focus on using natural resources for economic growth. With the transitions into AI, Ukrainian experts should design a cirruculum keeping the future and present in the frame. I believe Ukraine needs more than 25 years to establish a constant economic income. It would be interesting how women will be involved in these matters, as now they need all of its citizen to come together. To link the current situation with that of India, here none of the families believed in sending women for education saying that it is unethical and unsafe for women to get out of households. Like in India, several reformers, such as Raja Ram Mohan Roy, used ancient texts to prove the importance of education. He gained endorsements from the British for his actions. The Ukrainian government should look for role models within the country and publicize their futuristic ideas. Back in the day, there were heated debates in India about whether Western education was more valuable than learning inspired by traditional texts. Ukraine should thoroughly inspect the interests of its people and determine a suitable approach to education. Introducing fields related to AI would be beneficial, as that is the future. Now, Ukraine should focus on women and child development and invest accordingly.

  • Hello Topical talk,

As far as I know, the long-term wars can affect everyone not only children as they are not able to search webs or even go to school or homeschooling so this is not fair for every side not only educations .

the way they are not able search is that Russia hacked some devices from across the country therefor it is not available. A solution is that a program was made called (Croxy Proxy) which can enable any search engine this is one of the biggest difference made from education side. Also they made underground schools which are six meters deep which is so safe for how dangerous is war. also they are making schools on border with a country from NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization. thank you!

  • The long-term effects of disrupting an education system would definitely be efficiently impact on not only the children or those who are still attending school but the whole country would be negatively affected. Having a poor education system would definitely affect the economy and potential for progress, since the children who are our future workers are being disrupt from their education. They most likely won't have the necessary learning for their school later on. In other words they are more behind on their education than other kids around the world. I'm not saying that if you want to have a good future you have to go to school, no I'm saying that if you suddenly stop doing something, you will eventually lose the ability to do it again. And once they come back to school they won't be able to learn how to learn like they used to. Not only that thousands of people would also lose their job as a teacher, since the kid can't go to school anymore they won't have anyone to teach. In conclusion the long term effects of disrupting an education system would impact negatively on the whole country.

  • The education for Russian children has been on a steady decline ever since the war had started with Russia, and the country of Ukraine. More evidence to support this fact stems from cost estimators claim the Russia has spent around $500 million - $1 billion dollars on the war effort alone! Education in Russia cost around $5 trillion Russian rubles on education in 2022 alone! That comes out to $52 billion dollars in USD! From the research I have done on the state of schools in Russia, the buildings look very cheap and inexpensive. The economy has suffered greatly, due to the money that has been put into this single war. In conclusion, Money has been the cause to most of the controversy surrounding education suffrage, and droughts in their economy.

  • I think one of the long-term effects of disrupting an educational system may be on many people. Children are the most effected individuals, as they are losing knowledge, which in may opinion is the key to a powerful and successful future, they are losing very important, worldwide educational resources like Cambridge, a well-known educational foundation. Workers or teachers specifically in this case are getting severely effected, since they are not earning their normal salaries, which is not fair as it is not their fault, so their rights must be given. According to the country, it is losing literal years of development and progress, as without any reliable educational resources, the development of the country is unknown, as education builds independent lives, new devices and even weapons that are used in wars.
My country has been suffering from an educational lack in 2019, as Covid-19 was spreading like thunder, schools , universities and almost all public places were under lock-down. This effected my education as we were told to stay in our houses for a full semester or more! This weakened my educational level, as I missed out on lots of different information in different subjects. I think the whole globe was deeply effected by this tragic pandemic.

    1. Has your country tried to make up for the educational experiences that you missed during the Covid pandemic? If they have do you have examples of what they have tried to do? If not, how do you think they could ?

  • Disrupting an education system can have serious long-term effects on both individuals and the country as a whole. For individuals, children who miss out on education may struggle with literacy and basic skills, making it harder to find good jobs in the future. Workers who cannot access proper training may face unemployment or low wages, affecting their quality of life.

On a national level, an uneducated population weakens the economy, as fewer skilled workers are available to drive progress in key industries like technology, healthcare and business. Countries with unstable education systems may struggle to compete globally, slowing down development.

Egypt has faced education disruptions in the past, such as during the 2011 revolution, when political instability led to school closures and interruptions in learning. The COVID-19 pandemic also highlighted the challenges of maintaining education access during crises. However, efforts like online learning and education reforms show that even after disruptions, recovery is possible.

In conclusion, disrupting education harms both individuals and the country, limiting job opportunities and slowing economic growth. History has shown that even during crises, recovery is possible through reforms and innovation. To secure the future, governments must prioritize education access, ensuring learning continues even in difficult times.

  • The effects of disruption of the education system causes many problems not only for the students, but also the teachers. To start students will miss out on after school activities such as sports, reading bowl, art club, etc. Students will also mess up their school schedules of waking up and going to bed on time. I can also tie this into the pandemic. During this time we were virtual and had classes on zoom. This made me mess up on my sleep schedule and miss out on important classes and opportunities.

  • When education is disrupted, it’s like throwing a stone into a calm lake. The ripples spread far and wide, affecting not just the students but the whole country. If children are unable to go to school, they miss out on learning important skills, and this can last forever. Just imagine if a child couldn’t learn how to read or do math! It’s like trying to build a house without any bricks.

Workers, especially those who were learning new skills, might find themselves stuck. They might not get the chance to improve their careers or even get a job that matches their dreams. This would make it harder for the economy to grow because fewer people would be ready to work in important fields. It’s like trying to make a delicious cake, but missing a key ingredient—everything falls apart!

On a larger scale, a country might struggle to move forward if education is interrupted for too long. Without educated citizens, it would be harder to make new discoveries or solve big problems. If we look back in history, when wars disrupted education, it took years, sometimes decades, for countries to recover. For example, after World War II, many European countries had to rebuild their education systems from scratch, which delayed their progress in science, technology, and business.

In conclusion, if education is disrupted, it’s not just a small problem—it’s a giant storm that can change the future for both individuals and the whole country. It’s really important to keep education strong and steady, even when things get tough.

  • From what I’ve heard is that this war has disrupted the education of children and has taken many lives. Education carries an important role in a persons life if the education is not given properly to the children . The children may not understand what’s good or bad .Education is not only about studying 4 -5 hours a day to achieve good marks it also affects our mindset that how we see the world and our abilities to think about different people .This war may leave a bad impression on the children about that there is no other way but to fight and hurt people . When I think of the children of terrorists how would they be I’ve heard that they give guns to 5 to 6 year old children and are brainwashed to kill people the are like machines in the human body without even knowing what’s good or bad this is because the do not have proper education . Education is the key to success

  • The effects of the disruption of the education system in Ukraine has a massive impact on the country. The children who are meant to be running the country in the future are not learning anything which means that Ukraines government coudl make worse desicions regarding trade deals and investment options. This could affect the country negatively as Ukraine have less funding for schools and public services.
    Thank you 😊

    1. i agree with your preceptive towards the future of Ukraine due to the certain fact that the young ones do not have the opportunity to get quality education as you said to help them make economic decisions in the country. but don't you think that online lesson can be a way by which the minor citizens can learn. because of the current situation of that country's I think that online lessons can be a means by which the citizens can acquire knowledge even during the crisis. so I would say that there is still away for the children to learn all thanks to the internet and AI tutors. thanks i hope that you will see the importance and benefits of online lessons and AI tutors.

      1. Thank you for your reply stella_guava, I found it very informative and a good idea.Online learning would be useful to the children of Ukraine, as it would be a safer alternative instead of going to school and risking your life. However, because of the missile attacks, I believe that Ukraine's internet would only be used for vital resources such as anti-missile defense sytems.

    2. i agree with your preceptive towards the future of Ukraine due to the certain fact that the young ones do not have the opportunity to get quality education as you said to help them make economic decisions in the country. but don't you think that online lesson can be a way by which the minor citizens can learn. because of the current situation of that country's I think that online lessons can be a means by which the citizens can acquire knowledge even during the crisis. so I would say that there is still away for the children to learn all thanks to the internet and AI tutors. thanks i hope that you will see the importance and benefits of online lessons and AI tutors.

  • I see that the long-term effects of disrupting an education will be that:
When the war is over, the children will be behind by years in education which is a big problem for Ukraine's economy. Less people will be educated, which makes the jobs harder for Ukraine's students. For migrating Ukraine people, the problem is that while some age specifications need a certain age, another age with the things he can do. And when someone is late in education, it gets even harder for him to learn more after 5 years of war, this will make the education system for people go down by a lot. With a late education which waited for example 5 years even if a boy is 15, he is still as smart as a ten-year-old, which is not good. And this gets worse by the age. When the war started, a boy was born and now he is 5. He still cannot speak unless his parents have teacher him. Inequality is another problem in the list. Imagine you were a Ukraine graduate when the war started, and you fled to another country. Because you are a graduate, you need to find a job to support yourself. In the city of the airport, all jobs decline Ukraine graduates and overpay Russian graduates. How would you feel? This doesn't only apply to Ukraine, but to Russia also. Nobody is talking about this problem for a reason, there are no airplanes or even airports currently to fly away or Russia is blocking people going in and out. Some children also start reading and writing lately in terms of age.
In conclusion, the children will learn essential life skills lately in their life which makes education harder to proceed with.

  • In my own opinion, I think the long term effects of disturbing the system of education in Russia, on individuals for instance, the children and their teachers includes the fact that the children won't learn or acquire much knowledge, this will lead to gaps in their knowledge and skills, this will affect their prospects, opportunities and might affect their careers in future. Schooling online is not the same as schooling in the classrooms that is physical. Online classes reduces or limits social interactions and social development, the teachers won't be able to interact effectively with the students, it is just like what happened during COVID, school wasn't much fun as when we had physical classroom experiences, I think with online classes they wont be able to build up on much knowledge. Even if there are online schools, the teachers won't really have much time to teach their students, the amount of time the students will be required to sit in front of a system will also be something of a great concern. In some cases even if the teachers teach well and the children want to learn and improve their educational lives, other things need to be considered like the cost of connecting online, the tools needed for online classes are expensive, not everyone will be able to afford it. This kind of learning will indeed leave some people out

  • I think most of the schools that were destroyed in the war is one of the terrible things that happened to the children and their education. Now with online classes taking over physical classes, i am more concerned for the children, how much can they take in when they are taught, when they don't understand a concept very well, will the teacher have enough time to explain the concept? The difficulty involved in navigating online classes for a new user is something to also think about, this could make the child misunderstand what is going on in the online classes. In physical classes we can approach our teachers when we don't understand, there is something about eye movement and body movement during learning, with online classes, these are not easily obtainable. I think that when classes are held in the classroom, it is more interactive and best for the student . It helps the student to understand more of what the teacher is trying to teach. For example Home Economics, if you want to learn Home Economics, you need to do practicals for the student to understand better. This is why I think the destroyed schools are a bad thing that happened in the countries, Russia and Ukraine.
    THANK YOU

    1. I like how you have considered changing delivery methods of teaching such as online learning. Do you think online learning would have other consequences for children? Such as reducing social skills? I would love to hear your thoughts

  • I actually agree with what Miss Svetlana Tomlin said about the little children not going to school and actually we all do know well that thier stage is the stage where children get their moral day to day skills in the future and due to the Russian and Ukrainian war it is truely affecting them and also they can be actually be doing an online school learning while the war goes on

  • The long-term effect of distruption of education in a country on people/individuals and the country are that people's educational and personal growth such as literacy rate will be reduced because many people would not know how to read and write on time. This affects the development speed of the upcoming country's future leaders and the country itself in the fields of technology, education, media, medicine etc. for example a child whose education has been disrupted as a result of war will have to wait till after fleeing to another country to start all over again. This could imply having to wait to get familiar to an entirely new educational system which may take time before such a child will pick up again.
I read from history books that during the 1967 civil war in the Eastern part of Nigeria, history shows that people from the affected areas had their academic calendar distrupted for about two years. Meaning children from other parts of the country were 2 years ahead of those from the war torn areas.
Also during civil and community clashes that recently affected some parts of the northern Nigeria, children could not go to school for a whole session, this delayed their development compared to others. They are 1 academic year behind now, meaning that the children have lost knowledge within that semester while the country also loses several revenues they could have generated during the community and civil unrest.
In conclusion disruption of education affect both the individual and countries future potential growth and development academically and economically.
    Thank you

  • Sevetlana Tomlin discussed some of what long term effects in education could do to a country or to people which can effect the future as a whole .

If education keeps changing in any country and less info is given the generations might not have crucial skills that they would normaly learn in their time in school, some jobs that need a license need info that may be restricted because of war. It can also effect the government or country itself, if people aren't smart they won't be able to evolve their country therefore putting the country in a stalemate and the country will fall behind and thats what happened in syria the students have to live in conflict but usaully parents won't enform them of the conflict so that the children wont' be worried and as Seventlana tomlin said students are curious and will probably ask why their school got destoyed or in case of russia why the teachers aren't ansering some of the questions.
If students don't have the knowledge to get a job that will produce a problem for them plus if they aren't smart how will they helo their future children.

  • I believe that preventing children from education will lead the production of an illiterate generation whether this was happening in Russia or Ukraine. Think about it! How can a child that was not educated for three years be qualified for significant jobs? Education is like building. Can you build a roof without anything under it like stairs or bricks or can build the second floor without building thee first floor? Education is like when you build stairs (level). You will build it gradually and neatly so you can develop so how can children in the war improve when it is prevented for them to learn. I think that the neighbor countries of Russia or Ukraine can take children specially to learn furthermore this is what happened in Poland. It took most of the Ukrainian families so their sons and daughters can learn. Education is a human right that every child must take. Without schools, children can have mental issues because they will be missing their friends. Imagine that you are sitting in your house without education and friend and your country is full of war. You will be lonely. Some of the children in Russia and Ukraine have a lot of mental diseases like depression. This has a negative impact. In 2020, during Covid 19, Egyptian students took the lessons on the zoom meeting. Honestly, I did not gain any information especially in the science lessons. In the school, we did experiments but how can we do them on online meetings. For a whole year, I did not meet my friends. This affected me badly.

To conclude, I hope that every child receives his or her own rights.

  • Long term effects of this may include a lower standard of living.Spikes in homelessness, it can cause schools to have a lower graduate percentage, and more. This could also cause the economy to deflate and inflation to rise. As you can see these are all chain reactions this is why these country leaders should manifest thriving scholastic environment because it can cause economies to collapse. For example like Venisualas's economy their economy collasped because of the low standard of living rate which could be an effect of poor education systems.

  • Disruption of the education system can be very harmful to not only students, but he whole country. Both countries are so focused on the war that, it's likely that all the money and resources are going to war instead of education. The after-effects are almost unavoidable as basic tools that we learn in school from a young age are needed most in life. Skills like addition, writing, etc and so much more are important resources needed in life. Without these, it is almost impossible to get a stable job that provides income. Missing even a year of school can have consequences that you're gonna end up paying later in your life. When there was a COVID outbreak, I didn't know how to work Zoom so I often just sat there on my IPad instead of logging into my classes. This was a very bad decision as 3rd grade was the year that they started to focus more of writing essays and doing fractions and decimals. When I was back to normal school in 4th grade, I had little to no background knowledge and fell behind most kids. It took awhile for me to catch up with the education standards, all because I didn't focus on one school year. This war has been going on for 3 years now. Imagine the consequences that these kids are going to face? Not only this but, as well as the teachers. They will have to teach overtime getting students where they need to be to succeed in life, and this can be damaging mentally to both sides. Students are overwhelmed and might think that they will fail in life because they missed so much school, and teachers will have a responsibility to catch up with multiple kids.

  • When it comes to talk to Ukraine´s word we should talk about what´s going to happen with vthe educational system. The war had affect individuals and ther country as whole. Schools had been destroyed, and not only this have let children without a good site to learn but also causing them a long-term trauma, maybe for the rest of her lives.
On the other hand, we have workers who face limited opportunities for growing in their professionals and future working carrers. In addition to this, many young professionals and business have fled the country.
And last but not least on a national level, the lost of education have affected Ukraine´s economy, which will be difficult to recover it.
To sum up, despite efforts to provide an alternative way for learning and education, the impact of war on the education will be felt for next generations.

  • Education is a very necessary part of a country for its development. If this education gets disrupted due to reasons like wars, it can have adverse effects on the people of the country.
If we talk about individuals i.e. students and teachers, there can be many effects. Even a little disruption in studies breaks the constancy of the potential of students and effects their studies. Now, how are teachers affected? After continuous disruptions in studies, teachers get a high risk of losing their jobs and if they raise a question against the government and say something negative, they get into trouble, as told by Miss Svetlana Tomlin.
If education is suffered, it is obvious that it will automatically lead to bad effects on the country. Firstly, economical ruination. Disruption in education prevents promotion of educated workforce leading to less productivity which will decrease economy rates. Furthermore, the disruptions caused by pandemics can lead to a temporary end of employment opportunities and hence neglection of great potentials of people.
Let me talk about a global problem which led to educational disruption. Corona Virus, which was a worldwide pandemic and led to lockdown in most of the countries. This massive disruption led to large employment failures in many countries and a high decrease in economy rate.
In conclusion, I would like to say that a government of a country should avoid to be in such wars as they lead to a vast ruination in almost every field of the country, either forces, education or economy.

  • I believe that education is so important because it helps everyone to get knowledge but what happens in Russia and Ukraine in something really horrible because education is like steps on the stairs consequently can you climb a stair with a missing step? Definitely, NO so, have you ever asked yourself how children are living without education? Education is very important so the next Russian and Ukrainian generation will not be qualified for jobs and most of them will be illiterate. Additionally, the poverty rate will be rocketed (increase). Actually, the countries that contain war will be from the worst countries. The mentalities of the Russian and Ukrainian children will be the worst because they are sitting in their houses without friends and education and their countries have conflicts. They will have mental diseases like depression. So, is there any solution for this problem? Yes, during these three years, Poland was taking families to educate their sons and daughters in order to the generations can have a great job in the future. In Egypt, in 2019, all the Egyptians were affected because of covid 19 specially the students. We took zoom meetings. This was so effective, and I didn't understand the school lessons especially the science lessons because in the school, we used to do experiments so how can we do experiments on the zoom meeting? This does not make scene and decreased my level in my school. Moreover, I missed my friends a lot. I sat in my home for one complete year. This was impactful.

To conclude, I hope that children take their rights in all the world.

  • The long term effect of war on education, like what we have seen from Sevetlana's personal experience, can be devastating for both indiviuals and the country. It impacts both personal lives of indiviuals and country's broader future at a deeper level. War will cause kids and young adults to fall behind, leading to gaps in academic as well as social and emotional growth. It will leave skill deficits within the nation.

I would like to share a similar experience from my country - India. Though it was not as severe as Russian-Ukraine war, during the Indian Emergency (1975-1977) India faced disruptions. My grandparents were in high school/ college during that era and they hvae shared their experience with me. The goverment had imposed strict controls, closure of schools and colleges and curfews. They missed out on critical years of education due to political instability and tensed enviornment. The focused shifted from learning to survival. That not only affected academic progress but also future opportunities. Rather, my grandmother was not able to pursue her education further and got married young ( very common practice in India back then) .

I believe that the long term effects of such disruptions are far beyond educational setbacks. They create barriers not only for peronal indivuals but also in broader terms for a nation which lasts life long and might be transferred generationally as well.

  • I strongly support that anyone who is in need of education is to be home-schooled or have private lessons with someone that is, teacher or not, willing to offer him education, even family member, in comparison to going at a public space whith other pupils. The particular reason for the sircumstance is not only might the person be identified as uncomfortable at that environnement, which is in question, a public area, but may also undergo anxiety since he is not habituated to being away from his/her hamily due to the war, especially if that person is underaged.

  • I believe that children in the wars face an extremely terrible calamity which is that they are prevented from education furthermore they are affected horribly. Here are some solutions to solve this disaster.

Firstly, the neighbor countries that share borders of the countries that have wars can have the children to educate them for great generations. Without education, students will have bad mental issues, and they will be illiterate. Consequently, other countries must take the student to educate them.

Secondly, governments must build schools with a high quality, with materials that isolate sound and also, they must build security systems that help the children to learn calmly without any noise or attack not to affect them negatively.

To conclude, I hope that all the children throughout the world are provided with their important rights especially education.

Thank you. I hope you appreciate my comment.

  • Disrupting an education system can have long-term effects on a country. For example if children don't go to school, they will not be able to do simple things like write, read or to have a critical thinking. This is experienced by the Ukrainian refugees that are kids who run away from the war and end up to live in new countries where they don't know the language and miss out on education. As they miss out on education, they will lose a lot of job opportunities that require a higher education. And as they don't have too much knowledge, they will get jobs where they won't get well paid and live in poverty for the rest of their life. This is how disrupting the education system affects individuals.
The disrupting of the education system will also have a lot of effects on the country as a poorly educated workforce will weaken the economy. Also it will effect the progress of the country as the disrupting of the education system will make a country to fall behind in science, technology and other important fields.
I actually have an example of my own country, Romania, when Romania was a communist country, education was censored and you had to believe every thing that the communist said. Because of this the generation that lived in the communist era didn't have too much information and this is a reason why Romania isn't as rich as other countries like Germany, France et cetera. Also Romania fall behind in technology advancements and other key fields during the communist era which makes it poor today.

  • It should be made top priority to educate children instead of going to war.To help the economy and the economy continuum we need to educate children to become doctors, soldiers, astronauts, teachers, and more to support the country. We should not be fighting in a war while kids are being uneducated. While opportunities start ceasing to exist for little children who can't comprehend what's going on in the world. The top priority is to educate kids so why is war or in better terms politics more important than be educated. And keep in mind this kids probably haven't gone to school the 3 years straight.Thats my opinion signing out.

  • Its very obvious that disruption of education system will have an adverse effect on the individuals, children as well as the country's economy and development. Just as happened in India, in the 1830s, the British destroyed ancient Indian education methods and forcefully made Indians follow the western culture. As a result, Indians started to oppose it from 1857 and onwards. They stopped going to the schools. As a result, people didn't have enough knowledge and other skills which helped the British rule more and more. About the economy, India once had only 15 days more to go with the leftover money after independence.
But today with the developing education system, India is well known for its government colleges and competitive exams worldwide.
About the economy, the FY24 had been a significant result for the Indians, where India stood 5th on the GDP and 3rd on the PPP ratio worldwide.
So, its very essential to provide the students with knowledge and have a continuously developing education system for a brighter future of the country.
    Talking about Russia

  • I think education is a very important thing to do in our community, because children go to school to learn and experience more things and from that when you grow up and finish your secondary school and also your university you will luckily get a job but if you don't complete your school works you may not surely get a job and the long-term effects of this is you might grow up and be matured but won't get a job. So I think the best thing to do for this war to stop is for everyone to go back to school and also the teachers will get there salary and pay taxes and their children school fees.

  • In my opinion, the lack of long term disruption of education would have a negative impact. I say negative as there are several ways that it would affect people and children badly. One being lack of skills hence the work force being limited in the future, lack of skills means people aren’t able to meet the requirements needed for some places of work which could lead to the GNI per capita decreasing and the economy of the country crumble aswell. Perhaps this means that future opportunities would be turned away and people’s lives would be miserable and they may not be able to do what they dream of doing.

I think that education is really important and without it, it would set back the human enhancement in Russia and people wouldn’t be equipped with the knowledge needed in life. Without students, such employees such as teachers and headmasters could lose money, negatively impacting their lifestyle and many will be unable to provide for their families leading to quality of life diminishing in the long run.

I remember back in 2020 when the world went into lockdown and children across the globe missed out on education and even exams.

  • I think that the long-term effects of the war on disrupting education might be :

Children, 's schools might be demolished by the war leading children to choose to learn online, which will not be as good as schools or not to learn again. This can make a gap in children's education providing fewer future opportunities; moreover, they will, mostly get trauma from the actions of the war.

On workers, in addition to trauma, there will be displacement and Ukrainians or, sometimes Russians will have a disrupted life as they went to another country without considering any consequences due to the war and sometimes as Svetlana Tomlin informed us with they can be displaced because of negative comments on the war.

On the economy, the destruction of schools can lead to a worse economy to rework would have a very high price. As schools are damaged, people will not be prepared for the future educationally; as a result, the economy will be worse as no one is helping the country to be better.

I think something that a war that disrupted education was the war of my country, Egypt, against Israel.

    1. These are very good examples. How was education disrupted in your country when at war with Israel? Do you think your country is still feeling the effects now?

  • From my perspective, some long-term effects of disrupting an education system are the children’s’ and country’s future. As one would say, children are the world’s future. Children won’t get the knowledge or skills necessary for life. Workers will not have the essential training to work a difficult job in the future. The economy will suffer as there won’t be many skilled workers left in the field because they don’t know what to do, and have had no knowledge of a specific job.

  • Disrupting an education system can have serious long term effects on both individuals and the country. For students , missing out on the school means that they will fall behind in their studies , making it harder to catch up later. Many may struggle with basic skills like reading , writing and problem solving , which can affect their future job opportunities. Without proper education , people may end up in no job or maybe low paying job limiting their ability to improve their lives. This can also lead to frustration and lack of motivation to learn something new.

For a country , a weak education system means less skilled workers, which affects industries and slows down the progress. If people are not well educated , there will be fewer doctors, engineers , teachers and scientists , which will impact the country's growth. The economy also suffers because because there will be no trained employees , or skilled workers , which will lead to lower productivity. A good example is how education in India was affected during the covid -19 pandemic . Many students especially in the rural areas , could not access online classes , causing learning gaps that might take years to fix. Education is the foundation of a strong future. If a country does not invest in it , the entire country struggles.

  • As Svetlana Tomlin said,I completely agree with her and feel that in Russia as well as all parts of the world, Ideology should not be prioritised and learning and educational paths should be given the priority...
Also as seen by Svetlana Tomlin's Experience,I feel that students and children are at no fault and stopping them from acquiring knowledge and putting restrictions on the study materials is very unfair as children can't act upon the government's decision and here the education is being suppressed. Also when the teachers are prohibited to speak the truth,The students curiosity dies and develop the propoganda perspective which ye government wants the citizens to have.

This has a very vast impact on individuals like children as they lack skill set and experience which limits the career and knowledge opportunities for them in the future. Also when the education system gets disrupted,The literacy growth also declines drastically. When individuals are subjected to such limitations,They feel helpless and can't raise their voices as they need to face the effects of ideology.

Also the disruption of education system leads to drastic failure on the country's economy and growth, succes rate. This happens because the people don't get proper education facilities and lack the skills to make their country growth due to which even a superpower like Russia can have a drastic decline in the economy as well as potential of progress.

To conclude i would like to say that Education is very essentials for each student and the students of war facing countries should not be an exception.

  • I'd like to share a time when my country, India, faced such unfortunate events that disrupted the country's education system. Back in the 2020's, when Coronovirus came to life, it wasn't only a HAI (health associated infection) but a major disruption in India's education system - one out of the many provations it caused. At first, schools and all educational institutions were closed because the scientists and doctors didn't know whether it was safe to send children out or not. This took a few months, resulting in a pause in children's education. After this, when we came to know that it wasn't safe outside, the education medium switched from offline to online, which took us long to adjust; creating more gap in our education. After 2 years of Covid Pandemic, schools, universities and educational institutions reopened fully which shows how a disturbance was created in our education system for almost 2 YEARS, and how long it took for children to resume back to a normal learning routine. All this that that I have shared is something that I have EXPERIENCED as a student myself!

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience - do you think children in your country have got back to a normal regime now and what has been done to help make up for the lost time?

  • The long-term disruption of education has great impacts. Individuals are affected, but children are particularly , because they may miss out on important skills and knowledge. As a result, there are limited job opportunities for them. Companies are not selecting employees without the skills and knowledges. This leads to increased stress and depression to students, and they may struggle to adapt to changes in the job fields. With lower skilled workers, the country’s economic growth will decrease, weakening its overall capabilities. A country with long-term educational disruption will face great challenges and will be not able to compete globally. Future generations will also struggle to improve.

In countries like South Sudan, Chad, Afghanistan, and others, where the education system is not in a proper way. workers are unable to perform technical works effectively. This led them from
not earning a money , and leads to lower quality of life for families and society. In times of conflict, it is important time for governments to relocate schools to safer areas and provide proper protection for both staff and students.

Finally, education is the most powerful weapon in the world. Without education, there can be no real development.

  • In my opinion, the long-term disrupting of education effects can lead to several problems in the consistency of learning for the child's brain. Literacy rates, communication skills, and the other several skills you get from just being around people in a environment such as school are completely cut for them. Here, when the pandemic hit, i couldnt go to school for a school year and a half. this led to my previous education skills being lower. if those effects happened from just one year, imagine how these kids are now. the education rates also lead to the gdp per capita/standard of living. this definitely gives them a lower rate.

  • The long-term effects of disrupting an education system will be detrimental to not only the children but the workers, economy, and the potential for progress. For the children, there will be educational gaps where these entire generations of children who have their education disrupted will miss out critical development which will set them back, even closing many higher education opportunities if they can't catch up. For the workers who are having their education disrupted, they can also fail to learn critical aspects of their desired major which would lead to lower quality performance, lower paying jobs, and even deny them to opportunity to fully specialize in their desired work field. Furthermore, the economy MAY be safe as of right now, but because an entire education system has been disrupted, THE FUTURE, has been disrupted. There will be less people who majored in higher education professions. The economy that is built on an educated workforce will be much smaller than it needs to be which will reduce its productivity and stunt economic growth. As I intended before, education is the foundation for a solid future, disrupting it will cause a future where economic growth is stunt because the children of today can't study the way they should. It is like a chain reaction. Like a ticking time bomb. When Svetlana Tomlin said she wishes the government focused on education, I double it because education has and always will be the most important thing a society could have. It is the roots of prosperity, disrupting education will only bring turmoil

  • The long-term effects of disrupting the education system could have multiple negative consequences, not only towards the students, but teachers and the whole country. I say this because education is important, no matter which country. Students are the future of the country, the future doctors, scientists, lawyers, teachers, etc. If we don't help develop these young minds, the results could be harmful to everyone. In school, you learn basic skills that are needed in life such as in addition, subtraction, reading, writing, etc. These tools are needed to succeed as almost every job requires these, even the basic ones as in a cashier, since you need to know how to subtract and add decimals. Not only this but, after all these kids are falling behind in their academics, it could affect the economy since all fields of work are under experienced, which will make the country fall behind.

    1. You say countries would 'fall behind'. In what way? Can you give some examples?

      1. When I say that some countries could "fall behind", I mean that since education isn't being taken seriously as most resources and money are being sent to the war, students could soon fall behind in their academics, deterotiating their knowledge. A buildup of this with millions of children in Russia and Ukraine could soon be fatal as finding a job will be almost impossible. Simple jobs like cashiers or a waitress won't even be available as you have to know how to calculate percentages, tips, sales tax, decimals, etc. This will slowly but surely lower the employment rate, leaving little people in important fields as in doctors, scientists, politicians, etc. The country will soon fall behind in development as no one is helping to strengthen the country and evolve their products and factories.

  • Given what Svetlana Tomlin said, I would say that the long-term effects of disrupting the education system in Russia, on individuals-for example, the children-would include limiting their ability to learn and acquire knowledge and gear up for proper application of that knowledge at the right time. As for the workers, I would say that this probably sustains a huge fundamental impact on them since it makes them incapable of earning sufficient amounts to sustain them.
If I ought to summarize clearly, one single heavy impact on the country's economy is that the government-run schools were shut down because of a turn of events caused by continued war. When governmental schools are closed down, it involves a considerable failure in the income flow of such schools. I would like to emphasize that education plays a major role in uplifting the spirits of children to look forward to something greater in the future.

  • Based on what Svetlana Tomlin said and the tree facts we were given some long term effects of disrupting the educational system and environment are that a lot of the students are going to be losing a lot of information and might even when they can come back they won't cause they don't feel safe. Some kids could even get depressed and not keep studying. From my perspective by the Russian president making schools not safe he is hurting the country because when those kids grow up and don't have the education they need they won't be able to lead the country since they are the next generation . They won't be able to have a variety of jobs since they don't have all the education they would need.In conclusion I believe that they are hurting the children by making the schools a non safe place.

    1. What do you think should be done to prevent these consequences?

  • The war was started between Russia and Ukraine when they had a conflict as a whole country called Soviet Union and it is really disrupting the study of the students, agriculture of the farmers, etc. In my country it happened during the partition of AKHAND BHARAT it majorly affected India and Pakistan. Many people were killed, many buildings were demolished. In Russia and Ukraine if the concepts would not be clear on time it might affect the student's future severely.

    1. Can you tell me about what the the long-term effects of disrupting the education system in Russia and Ukraine might be?

      1. Thanks for asking in my opinion, here is a reason why, ‘As they say Education is the backbone of any country or economy’ by disrupting it we directly attack the future of the upcoming youth. It can also affect the technological advancements of the country.

  • The long term effects on individuals can be a lag in career or graduation , of course lesser opportunities, weak social connections as they aren’t free to express themselves freely, loss of insurance or investments as the education is currently not a priority in Russia and many mental health issues can also occur. On the country they could be decreased creativity, difficulty in finding skilled and intelligent people or labourers, of course slower economic growth, less employment of teaching faculties, and the most obvious “Brain Drain “ which means students might go abroad to study and use their intelligence there .Some cases in which country’s education might be disrupted are frequent natural disasters such as earthquakes, pandemics such as Covid19 , political instability such as terrorism or protests , riots etc. Financial issues can also lead to disruption of education systems.

  • I think that education should be protected because schools make doctors engineers and many many other jobs. I also don't think that the government should make textbooks with fake information. Kids should be able to express themselves no matter the topic. After all they are the future of the country.

  • Disrupting education system can have lasting effects on individuals and a country. For children and workers, the consequences are significant. When children's education is interrupted, they miss out on important learning that helps with social, emotional and academics development. In the context of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, where millions of children have had their schooling disrupted. With schools destroyed, teachers displaced, and families fleeing for safety, many children face an uncertain future, missing vital education that could shape their careers and overall well-being.
For workers, the disruption of education can hinder their ability to adapt to new skills of technologies which can limit career options. As the war continues, many workers in Ukraine are losing access to training and education, making it harder for them to find stable jobs or advance in their careers. This creates a less competitive workforce and can slow down economic recovery after the war.
On a national level, the effects are even more damaging. Education is a key of driver of economic growth, as it creates a skilled workforce capable of rebuilding and innovation. In Ukraine the long-term disruptions the education system will likely slow the country's recovery and progress. Rebuilding schools and providing education o displaced children will be crucial in ensuring Ukraine's future growth and stability.
The Russia-Ukraine war highlights the importance of keeping education systems intact even during a conflict. Without education, individuals and nations face setbacks!

    THANK YOU

  • I would say the long term effects of disrupting an education system would be negative and detrimental to all people. When learning, many times children learn real life things that have happened that can have a relation to what they learn in school. That allows children to learn about things that happen or have happened around them. However, when they are limited to only school curriculum, or even limited to things in the school curriculum, children are not equipped when you may need to apply your knowledge in your life. And children are going to be the new leaders and create new generations, and when they are not equipped and are being robbed of education, nations can fall and fail. And as said, when future generations cannot thrive, the country will fall behind and lack potential. Which can be detrimental to the economy and all aspects of a country.

    1. I like your explanation of how children learn more than just the curriculum when at school - what other things do you think they learn?

      1. I believe that other things that children learn at school are things that are going on in their world. Many teachers incorporate the curriculum with real world events so that children can understand, be notified, and relate to the things that they learn in school. By doing that, it allows children to be able to be more engaged in the things that they learn. Children also learn the importance of opinion and understanding things around them.

  • I recently came through experience on internet about education in Ukraine, there is a higher secondary school in Ukraine and the students, staff and teachers of the school shared their experience and said that " the siren could ring anytime and we need to go in bunkers to survive, but we will continue to form young leaders " . This is the situation in the country in my opinion, both countries should claim peace and once they should keep all things aside and think about the citizens of their country.

  • I think people should move away until its safe because kids need their education and workers also do but the online classes aren't the best after the schools got destroyed kids need the education to know what to do when they see a bomb and they need to know how it looks. Kids should know the importance of wars and the history of their country. They also need to make money when their older and cant if they cant go to school .

  • Disrupting an education system can have serious long-term effects on both individuals and the country as a whole.

For individuals, especially children, disruptions can lead to gaps in knowledge, lower literacy rates, and reduced critical thinking skills. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many students faced learning loss due to school closures, affecting their academic progress. If students miss critical years of education, they may struggle to catch up, leading to lower confidence and fewer opportunities in the future. Workers who lack a solid education may find it harder to secure stable jobs, leading to lower income, financial insecurity, and limited career growth.

For a country, an unstable education system can weaken the economy and slow progress. A less educated workforce reduces productivity and innovation, making it harder for a nation to compete globally. Countries affected by war, such as Syria and Afghanistan, have seen generations of students lose access to education, delaying economic recovery and development. Poor education systems can also increase inequality and social instability.

Education is the foundation of a prosperous society, and its disruption can have lasting consequences. Ensuring access to quality education, even in times of crisis, is essential for a country's future.

  • Because of the war with Ukraine and Russia, unfortunate children are being held back from proper education but we need to do something about it. There aren’t many possible ways to do so where they would be safe and their families would be happy but some education is better than no education. Therefore, I believe that the people of Ukraine should mark safe spaces in the country and build a school there. However, not on the ground, that still wouldn’t be safe, build it under the ground. By doing this, the are on top of them should be relatively safe but the place where they get their education (underground) will be very safe and able to get education. If this cannot happen, instead their should be educational workers who come together underground and provide work for children so they can be home-schooled. The children will be with their parents and have good education to learn. Both options would be very good to do and we should perform one of them in real life.

  • I think long-term effects of educational disrupting on individuals are closely linked to the effects on a country's economy and progress. If there is a disruption on education, of course children are going to be affected, they will not be able to get basic skills for their futures, therefore, not enabling them to have a proper work and thrive on life.
In a massive scale, an important disruption and a gap of years with no education in a country will cause its economy and progress to drop. If there is not potential workforce, first subject to be let down is economy, which later affects services, tourism, and again, education. This sort of disruptions can also take several years to recover, more if it was caused by a war.
In Spain, the last post-war years were really tough. Many of our granparents had a poor education, some of them didn't even have, and had to work really hard to take Spain back to normal. But now, we are glad Spain is a developed and progressing country again.

  • From what Svetlana has told us , I would say that the long-effects of disrupting an education system on individuals will affect childrens the most. I think they might lose and important part of their lifes and will forget almost everything they had learn before. Also, many childhoods have been destroyed as there are many students that have been force to fight on the war.
The long-terms effect on the country are linked to the ones individuals because, if children stop studying, in the future there won't be doctors, lawyers, nurses or even teachers and, without teachers, new generations won't learn in a proper way. As a result, schools will disappear causing a huge impact on the country and its economy.

  • I think long-term effects on children are the most serious ones. They can develope psicologycal traumas, because they are living in places with the presence of extreme violance. This can cause depression, anxiety dissorders, estress and others emocional problems.
In addition, the war causes an educational interruption because the schools close for security. If children lose learning opportunities, it will affect their future, and in consecuence, increase international poverty.

  • the war in Ukrain, caused by Russia´s invasion, has broken the education system. Most of the schools has been destroyed and a lot of students have been obligated to study online learning or even no study. This can affect not only children´s personal development but also would affect the countries´ economy. People´s knowledge would be nonexistent, which would lead to a lack of jobs a paralized economy. Rebuilkding the education system will be key to the nation´s recovery.

    1. How do you think they could begin to rebuild the education system?

  • The long-term effects of disrupting an education system on children can be the following ones: It is specified by neurosurgeons and specialized doctors , that when a child gets disrupted from something they should be doing (like school , or playing , coloring ...) , their brains gets in a worse state with time and does not work as well as the others , lets say a child has the right to study , some countries have a study policy that says determines until what age school is mandaory , yet lets say that he has to stay home to help parents working due to the absence of money in their house , when that child stays home to work instead of studying , or even staying with his friends there are neuronal conexions that break down due to that.
Other effect that it can be brought becouse of the war , is when the friends that that child was seeing (being friends with) when they were going to school , now they dont see them anymore , which can lead to a depression due to friends or non-familiar company drought.

  • Hey,

Have you ever felt like your whole world's been turned upside down? I mean, I have, and it's a pretty awful feeling. When education gets disrupted, it's like... what's the point, you know? You feel lost and uncertain, like you're just drifting through life without a purpose. I still remember the day I heard about the Kashmir lockdown in 2019. Millions of students were stuck at home, unable to learn or grow. It broke my heart. I couldn't imagine being in their shoes, feeling trapped and helpless.

And it's not just the students who suffer, obviously. Grown-ups who are working feel stuck too. They need to keep learning new things to stay ahead, but it's hard to keep up. My mom's a teacher, and I've seen her struggle to adapt to new technologies and teaching methods. She's always saying things like, "I'm too old for this!" or "I don't understand this new stuff!" Which, fair enough, I guess.

When education gets disrupted, it's like throwing a stone into a pond. The ripples go far and wide, affecting the whole economy. Without skilled workers, businesses and industries struggle to innovate and compete globally. It's crazy to think about how much of an impact it can have. So, what can we do about it? I mean, we need to make sure that education is protected and prioritized, even in tough times. We need to find ways to keep learning going, even when schools are closed. We owe it to ourselves, our families, and our communities to create a better future.

    Thank you !

  • From the opinions shared by Svetlana Tomlin, it is clarified that the recent impact of such restrictive education in Russia is hampering both teachers and students.
However, in the long run , this oppressive learning system would further mitigate the element of curiosity and feeling of freedom of ideas in the students. If this continues the learning which liberates imagination, ideas and questions would soon imprison the vibrant and diverse opinions and perspectives of story, the young minds would be blindfolded by the so - called "liberal education", which quite literally is denying access of the truth to children and making their learning process and way of thinking a mere puppet at the hands of the government.

This would have adverse effects on the countries economy since most parents would prefer sending their kids abroad to study and later settle there thus depriving the nation of the bright talent and skills required in the functioning of the industries. Thus significantly impacting the skilled human resource of the country, it would reduce educational tourism in Russia leading to a major decline in the economy, it would also lead to less employment opportunities in the larger sectors of industry like technology and AI development.
Concluding, I feel that the best way to empower students is by liberating their thoughts and giving them a proper space where they could gain insight on the things around them and know the truth about the situation at hand. Afterall Education is the most powerful tool to change the world.

  • Oh wow, if education gets messed up, it’s like breaking the foundation of a big, beautiful house! Imagine kids not learning or workers not getting the skills they need – it’s like trying to bake a cake without the recipe or the ingredients. The long-term effects could be terrible, like planting seeds in dry soil and expecting them to grow into giant trees. It just won’t happen! If kids miss out on learning, they won’t be able to dream big, and they’ll end up stuck in jobs that are boring or don't make any sense, like a hamster running in circles on a wheel.

And for the country? It’s like trying to build a spaceship with no tools or a map. The economy might fall apart because there won’t be enough smart, skilled workers to help the country grow. If people aren’t educated, how will they invent new things or solve big problems? It’s like trying to play a video game with no controller – you can’t move forward, no matter how hard you try!

It’s super important to make sure education keeps going, even during tough times, because without it, the future is a big, dark mystery. If we stop learning, the world will get stuck in a loop of repeating mistakes, like rewinding a movie and watching the same scene over and over again. We need to make sure that every kid can get to school, every worker can learn new things, and everyone has a chance to grow up smart and happy, ready to change the world! Don’t you think education should always be the top priority, no matter what happens?

  • I think the disrupting in education systems would affect the would country because many children had lost many years they should have been studing and graduating and they are late for that so their studies would last longer than usual, so the country will suffer a depletion in those jobs wich are esential for every day life like teachers, constructors... Also future generations will be affect because the country would need personal which wouldn´t be ready because they were still studiying their careers

  • In my personal opinion when education in a country gets disturbed or stopped, it develops many different problems. It causes for people to stop learning in a decent way that it is going to school, because online school its not the same. If someone does not learn basic stuff needed for the future once he goes in to school to the grade that he needs to go he will have lots of problems as he won’t know the basic stuff. This is just speaking of education but it causes many diffrent problems to people not being able to go to school. I think this problem should be solved as soon as possible to prevent it from creating more problems and later on it will be more difficult to fix.

  • in my opinion i think that russia needs to treat the people more better because if they don't all the people will be gone. so there will be no teachers teaching students. no healing people.

  • From my point of view, war can have tremendous effects on a country for many years, affecting the standard of living and the economy. An example of what happens when war disrupts an education system, could be the Spanish civil war. Before the war when Spain was a Republic, a very unstable and volatile one but more or less democratic, indoctrination was a common goal but still there was the intention of providing an education to everyone (even the poorest people in rural areas) at a time where many people didn't know how to write or read. But when the war started, each side focused more on military affairs and the education system was disrupted like in Ukraine. Moreover, many intellectuals from both sides were persecuted (most of them supporting the loosing republican side) or were forced into exile as well as teachers. Spain had lost one of its best generations of academics... After the war, Spain faced poverty and isolationism, so poor people were often forced to work from young ages. The education system was controlled by the dictatorship and only focusing in some values (like religion). It would take many years to re-built the country because there was a lack of qualified people. Even the so-called Spanish Economic Miracle started when the dictatorship allowed some academics and intellectuals (economists, engineers...) known as technocrats, to reform the country's economy after 20 years since the war! Education is essential for things in a country to be done well. Without capable and prepared people a country cannot go on.

  • I sincerely believe that the education system should be one of the most important concerns. Children aren't being able to go to school, they are losing classes, but this is not the key point. In the video, the english teacher says that the russian government doesn't allow them to tell what is really happening if that information can damage their thinking over Russia. They are scared of telling their thoughts. She also says that they are changing russian's books, so they have information about the war, if this information is altered, they would manipulate children's minds. This have to stop. It is shameful that teachers aren't allowed to answer questions freely, just because they are scared, it is shameful, that they are trying to manipulate children's thoughts, it is shameful that children can't learn appropriately just due to politic problems, because it is not their fault.

  • Hello Topical Talk. Disrupting an education system can have severe, long-lasting consequences for both the students or individuals and nations too. For individuals, especially children, this can lead to learning gaps, hindering future opportunities that can impact self-esteem and social mobility. Workers can face skill mismatches and companies can have increased unemployment. Nationally, an undereducated workforce results in lower productivity, terrible economic growth, and reduced competitiveness in the global market. Historical examples, such as the Vietnam War illustrate the devastating impact on national recovery and social cohesion. Strong and hardworking education systems are crucial for individual success and national prosperity.

  • When schools get disrupted, it can mess a lot of things. Kids/Teens might miss out on learning lessons, making it hard for them to catch up and succeed later in life. They also lose the chance to improve their social skills and friendships. For workers, a disrupted education system can build up a lack of necessary skills, making it harder to find good jobs and improve their economic situation. This can result in a country having less skilled professionals, which impacts the economy and reduces innovation. Additionally, if some people receive better education than others, it can create social and economic inequalities, building up to a more divided society. This is why when a schools education system gets disrupted, because of war of something else, it can lead up to a series of events that affect students, workers, and the economy.

  • Hi all!
Women is the gender ,mostly occupied in the field of education, teachers. Most women are concentrating more in working at educational institutions like schools and colleges. Imagine that, you are in the world which your father, mother, brother, sister and you didn't have a basic education. Your family will go to the poverty line because of taking wrong decisions , without any education, and absolutely you don't know what is right, so you will not educate your future generations.from this the country will cross the poverty line and the economy of country decreases.the government runs because of the tax ,the people pay from their income. If they not have education, they can't go to work and earn. From this, government faces a lack of taxes which is the factor to poverty line and decreasing in the economy. To avoid this, we want to motivate more teachers to educate students, by creating awareness about education, and during the wars, many people are been safeguarded in large buildings where more students gather in a same place, and the government can alternatively arrange AI assistant teachers (robots) and advanced technologies to educate large group of people during the war...

  • The government of Russia should not be able to do all of that to the education because sadly if the system keeps being like that the next generations are going to have a very poor and ignorant education. What people in Russia should do is that in there family they should secretly teach correctly their children.

  • I believe that if education gets damaged, there will be a lot of problems. It is like to destroy a large, wonderful city. Close your eyes and imagine that children are not educating besides learning and worker, and employees are not gaining any new skills. It is like to build house without concrete, cement and even stairs. If education was not provided for children for year like what happens in Russia and Ukraine and the governments expect from them to be a great generation, this will be a calamity. This is like to expect from an object to float in the air in the Earth. This will never happen. If children did not learn, they will not have creativity or ambition. Furthermore, they will have a low number of ideas so they will work in boring jobs. In their jobs, they will be circulating in an endless circuit.

Without education, countries will be affected a lot. Without education, the brains of the children will be thinking wrongly. It is like trying to build an invention without tools and materials. The economy can fall because there will be no intelligent and skilled workers to help the country develop. If people are not educated, how will they do invention or solve huge problems. It is like using the TV without a remote control. YOU cannot move forward even if you worked hard.

I think that it is significant to make education keeps going even the countries are in bad wars and tough situation because without it, people will be in a loop of mistakes like watching the same video over and over again. The world will be dark and mystery. Education must be the first priority.

  • Disrupting an education system has long term effects on both, individuals and the country. For young people like me, education is the KEY to our future. In a few years, we will be doctors, politicians, lawyers, essential roles that can change the world. The world will be in OUR hands, and we need to be prepared. Education is not just about learning to pass an exam, it’s about developing the skills we need for life. Critical thinking, creativity, and defending our opinions have the same importance as academic knowledge, and without these skills, we can’t take advantage of all our potential.
When an education system is disrupted, it also stops development and progress. The ability to improve the world around us relies on well-educated people who can think critically and solve problems. Understanding the past, through education, will help us to not make the same wrong decisions.
For the country, a disrupted education system does too much harm. A less educated society leads to slower economic growth and less innovation. A lack of education also deepens social inequality, with the gap between those who have access to education and those who don’t growing incredibly wider. This creates divisions in society that are difficult to overcome. In Spain, we’ve seen how the education system was disrupted during the Spanish Civil War and under Franco’s regime. During these years, many were denied the opportunity to LEARN, and entire generations had to face limited opportunities. The lack of education stops innovation and economic growth for years. How can we fix education for good?

  • I agree, if kids were no longer disrupted in learning, and not be given false information and such. The kids would function better, they would be more calmer about this. But, they're just kids' they shouldn't even be in this situation.

  • I agree with this because education is very important if these kids want to do all these jobs but how are all these kids going to do without an education if there is war . How are these kids going doctor and nurses without an education to help the soldiers that needs it.

  • Both countries can step up education by having equal attention to both the war and education. What the problem here is that each country is that they only pay attention to what's happening in the war. Taking care of wounded soldiers is important, and so is protecting our citizens. Of course, we can also include the fact that they of course need the doctors and others more than us. They are fighting for the country. This doesn't help the fact that education levels are way below the global standards. The citizens need attention as well. Citizens deserve more education as well as soldiers needing doctors and etc.

  • Disrupting on education system can have long-term consequences for both individuals and a country. On a personal level, children and workers may struggle to gain the skills they need for future opportunities, leading to lower employment rates and financial instability. On a national level, an unstable education system can slow down economic growth and limit a country's potential for progress.

A real example of this can be seen in Egypt, where education has been disrupted at different times in history. During the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, school and universities were forced to close due to protests and political instability. Many students missed lessons and university exams were delayed, affecting job opportunities and slowing the development of a skilled workforce. More recently, the COVID-19 pandemic caused another major disruption, forcing schools to shut down and making education more challenging for students without access to technology. This widened the gap between students from different backgrounds, creating long-term educational inequalities.

Similarly, the war in Russia and Ukraine has disrupted education for many, as teachers and students face uncertainty and a lack of resources. Like in Egypt's past, these disruptions can have lasting effects o individuals and the country's progress. A strong and adaptable education system is essential to overcoming these challenges and ensuring a brighter future.

  • Disrupting an education system is never good. For example kids might have to relearn entire parts the curriculum. In that time they will not be able to learn the stuff they need and will also fall behind in life, as school often teaches them how to behave or take responsibility. All those abilities will not be taught to these children. Disrupting the education system could also cause kids to have social problems and to feel isolated. This is what the Corona-Generation experienced, including myself, and the consequences are still affecting everyday life. For many children, school is the only place to make friends. As a result, many children of the Corona-Generation have developed psychological issues like depressions that still go on today. And then, there's also a problem that makes it even harder. All children changing schools, for example form primary to middle school are especially affected. Children established in their schools might have some friends to meet outside from school, but those children don't have any friends, as they are just arriving at a new school. And this is just short term future. If the disruption of the education system continues, there will be shortage of qualified workers, bringing the countries' economy down.
As we have seen it isn't much about the acquired knowledge, no it is the psychological problems that come with it and the disruption in development of thousands, maybe millions of kids. It will require extensive and hard work after the end of the disruption as its end does not mark the end of the consequences it brings with it.

    1. You raise very good points, what do you think are best ways to mitigate these impacts on children and societies that have been impacted?

      1. I think we should generally be more open to psychological issues which are often a taboo in many societies. There could be special meets set up, where people can meet each other and generally socialise. There should also be professional help offered to those in need. It is really important, that we don't leave people behind. That means that the situation should be checked constantly to ensure no one is too affected by this disruption. However, I don't think these measures could be put into place, as it lacks political significance. Also, when the education system is disrupted, it is very likely one countries' effort is not aimed at those affected or the resources are simply not available.

  • Honestly, the war between Russia and Ukraine is devastating, and one of the country's most affected part is education.
When kids can't go to schools, they aren't learning very important things. But this isn't just about reading and maths, it is about social skills, routines and emotional development. workers, on the other hand, might miss out on training and job opportunities, setting them back in their careers.
For the country, an uneducted population means a less skilled workforce, which can really affect country's economic growth. It is like trying to build a house without the proper tools, it might hold up, but it is not very strong or efficient.
This has happened many other times in history. For example, countries during the WW II had to rebuild their education systems, and it took a long time. for Ukraine, it is very important to start rebuilding schools, providing online classes if it is possible and offering mental health support for students and teachers.
It is all about giving the next generation a chance, even with all the destruction and violence going on.

  • The long-term disruption of education will have catastrophic consequences on the coming generations. The children will become adults without some basic skills and knowledge. The country will most likely be hit with economic issues due to a lack of skilled professionals entering the economy and contributing.

  • Long-term effects of disrupting an education system can be that the childres of that are can have a bad education or even some can have no education! This is a very bad thing also for the country because in the this children that have not a good education will be the future of this country so the economic of this country will be a very very big problem, for this is very important that the children have a good education in good schools because if not the future of that country wil be a completly disaster.

  • I personally think that the Russia and Ukraine war has a lot of problems that people don’t thing about like the education issues. In the future when this war is hopefully sorted people will be set up to fail as the literacy rate in Ukrainian is 66% and it should be a lot higher as that is just over 50% and before the war the Literacy rate was 83% when this war is over people will not be educated for getting jobs so Ukrainian is at a massive step back.

    1. Interesting! How do you think the war and the lower literacy percentage will set up people to fail and what should be done to prevent this? What can the Ukrainian government do to solve this problem?
What could we, as outsiders, do?

  • I think the long term effects of the distribution of education system in Russia will be highly disrupted as the eduction of many kids will come to a stop, and the required to gain good jobs and a good life will be gone.

  • The long term impact of distrupting children's education can be catastrophic. Students could begin to have a declining literacy rate due to the resources needed been taken away by the war, the proper knowledge needed to progress in life (which is made in the education system) may end up being stunted, and oppurtunites later in life can be limited due to the lack of necessary skills needed to thrive in adulthood. Aswell as this, not only will children be affected; workers too. This is because, those who work at schools can be stripped of a job, eventually leading to an unstable salary, resistricted working life and may even lack of essentials needed to survive. Their lives can be severely affected just as much as the children as money needed to sustain them, is lost due to the raging war.

In addition, the economy can be affected to an extreme extent. This is because workers wont have the skills needed to be the best in their job. Businesses can be affected due to the lack of workers meaning many places will go bankrupt and fail, further affecting the education system as many job oppurtunites wont be available.

  • Education is very important for the development and progress of a country, which means the consequences of the system failing could be detrimental. Allow me to explain.
As many other topical talkers have pointed out, skipping a period of education (whether it be forced or your own choice) reduces the cognitive skills of individuals. They lack knowledge and therefore will not be able to get proper jobs in the future, mostly because they will lack the qualification needed. What will this be for the country?
Imagine a whole nation of people who have had their education restricted, an entire generation (or more) that lacks resources to enable the country to develop. People will lose their jobs, which in turn will reduce the income for the country, the economy could fall.
To sum up my point, a lack of education reduces the skills that people need to move on in life. If this becomes the case for a country's population, there will be little to no development, and possibly a retrogression in the economy.

  • Disrupting an education system as cause indefinite damage towards students and overall the next generation. The government is already planning to change and rewrite textbooks to make it look like their the good guys and there not attacking a country and its already probably affecting their minds,so its already hard to focus then once the education system is disrupted ,this can affect people's future and lives. For example some thing that should be learned and thought might not even be thought any more and can lead to gaps that can affect careers, jobs the economy. Not only working on a screen isn't better either. For instance during the pandemic I and my peers had to stay home and continue school virtually, sometime there were tech errors where we couldn't hear or some things would have to be skipped over to make room for other stuff. and most importantly most of us couldn't focus on learning because we were at home.Home is a comfort spot for most so when you finally leave school and go home you want to relax and enjoy yourself before you go back to school again. We got to comparable and started to not listen fully to our teachers. And that same thing can happen to other kids in Russia they won't be able to apply or gain knowledge and inspire others,or might not even be able to reach their dream careers and aspirations.

  • I think this war has profound and far reaching consequences for education in both the countries as not only schooling but even it would affect the mindset of children’s . This war has decimated the structure of education system and has destroyed schools and have rebuild schools as shelters for displaced families. During the war students cannot even attend online classes due to server and internet loss . This war may harm the future of these young generation . The impact of disrupted education will shape their future in multiple ways . This would lead to great economic loss in future as significant education is not given to students . Many of the children are refugees in different countries who are suffering from trauma or mental health issues . This psychological problem will give scars on their thinking and creativity. So I think that education is very valuable and people need to inspire these new generations to do good in future.

  • I think the long-term effects of disrupting the education system for the children would be them not being able to learn the skills and education they need for later in life. If they don't learn multiplication or how to write essays now, it's a good chance that later in life they won't be accepted into good jobs and colleges that will go even more in depth with the skills and education they should be learning right now. I remember when Covid-19 broke out we had to be virtual and that made it difficult to learn for me because having both the option of text books and the internet help me learn the best. Since the internet has such a variety of sources, without it could definitely hinder the students ability to learn. Not just children, but the workers are absolutely affected as well. As Svetlana Tomlin said, students and teachers would get in trouble for speaking negatively about the war causing them to no longer feel free. Not sharing your thoughts and opinions can cause people to feel unheard and no longer feel the need to reach out and share what they believe and hope for.

  • Disrupting an education system due to war can have severe long-term consequences. For individuals, particularly children, it interrupts their learning progress, leading to gaps in knowledge and skills. Many may struggle to catch up, reducing their future job opportunities. Teachers and workers also face challenges, as schools may close, forcing educators to leave their profession, or relocate.

On a national level, a disrupted education system weakens the economy and slows down progress. Without a well-educated workforce, innovation and productivity decline, making it harder for the country to rebuild and compete globally. The psychological effects of war and instability can impact students' motivation and well-being.

Historically, many countries have experienced similar setbacks. For instance, during World War II, schools across Europe closed, and generations of students faced educational gaps. Even today, conflicts in different parts of the world show how education is often one of the first casualties of war, affecting long-term development.

Education is key to a nation's future, and protecting it during crises should be a priority.

  • From previous knowledge and more information from the video I believe with this war going on there could be many long-term effects and tribulations and may even cause lifetime effects on students and workers without being able to properly focus on education and instead fear of not being safe and protected in an environment they should be considered safe in. This will disrupt and damage the educational system for students and workers who may be forced to become unemployed and lose their jobs, this is obviously a problem since less teachers equal less education and with research about 2/3 of students are virtual learning which is a difficult way to obtain proper information especially with not being exposed to it in real time which can affect the students understanding of what's going on which is a major issue that this war is causing for scholars.

Speaking from experience within the United States when covid had started virtual learning was a hard way for me to obtain any information in some formats especially with not being exposed to it visually which caused many issues for our education system, although I speak from some experience you can imagine how people in the war feel after 3 long years and potentially more if not stopped soon which deeply effects the students learning environment and understanding.

In conclusion this war is tremendously affecting students' education system, how they learn, their safety, and overall mental health with the mentality of being afraid of the war which is not only affecting the economy but the people and communities within the war.

  • What might the long-term effects of an education totally controlled by the ideology of the goverment be for all the young people? And,mainly, how important is it to educate youth freely, without any prejudices?Which is the purpose we're really looking for, letting children create their opinions or brainwash society?
Nowadays,we can see how the situation for education in a wide variety of countries is getting progressively worse..We can all appreciate, for example, how in some states of the US even some diversity contents are banned..
From my own point of view,it's vital to let teachers and schools teach a wide variety of things,so little by little, young kids can be the person they want and deserve.Sadly,if this tutoring is influenced by the interests and ideology of a country, this could be potentially dangerous, as we are wasting a great amount of potential. Of course, for some countries this is a great chance to control all their population. Even if creative progress level goes down, some countries seem to have top priorities: for instance, managing civilians in a war.
On an individual level, this is a highly unethical practice. All of us have a variety of rights we have to defend and we can't forget that one of them is to learn.Maybe, some countries seem to be forgetting who we are.Or,it could be that powerful people may think that people with a lack of proper education are easier to control.
Honestly,I'm glad that this topic is more or less controlled in my country. Here, most of the people are teached with education and diversity, allowing them to learn about whatever they want.

  • I believe that the long-term effects of disrupting an education system in Russia, will have negative impacts. A negative impact would be a reduction in children's literacy rate. Students won't be able to learn effectively, and as a result, wouldn't be able to acquire more knowledge. If students don't have proper education for the future, they won't be able to have opportunities such as high-level schools or colleges. During war time, there won't be much emphasis on schools, leading to the decreasing of payment for teachers. According to Svetlana Tomlin, Russia prioritizes ideology, which means setting beliefs about how things should be. This means giving out education that sets how things should be in the country to children. Disruption in the education system can also affect the country itself. With fewer education, this would eventually lead to the students not being able to find a job. This greatly impacts the economy in a negative way. If there is less money, it would significantly impact the future because there would be even less emphasis on schools due to not a lot of resources. Which, will result in the deficiency in the country even further. There was a time in my country which forced the disruption of its education system due to a virus called, COVID-19. Students in the U.S. were provided virtual learning. However, some students would not pay attention and there is nothing the teachers can do about it. Fortunately, a vaccine was created in 2020, allowing students to attend school normally.

  • I have heard the facts and personal stories Svetlana Tomlin discussed and I am astonished to find out that this is happening. If students want to know something about the world- even if it is negative- they should full and well be allowed to know it. Additionally, it’s a good thing to tell children like us what is happening in the world, especially the bad things, because young people like us shape the future. So if they want our future world to be amazing then the governments need to tell us what is going on. Teachers have a right to tell us what we want to know and nothing should stop that- unless you don’t want the world to become a better place.
This leads to my second point; children in Ukraine and Russia can have education with the news. They can look at what is happening in the world and write an essay or project on it. Therefore, proper learning will be enforced and it is a fun, creative way to learn about the world. I truly believe that this is the solution to the issue of education.

  • The effects of disrupting an education system on individuals is that less of the population is educated, which means the pool for the workforce is smaller. Depending on the severity of the disruption, this could set the country back anywhere from 5-15 years or more.

  • I think this will affect both of them, because as many children cannot learn and develop their skills, in the future will have struggles to work and the economy will slow down. But I personally think this will not happen as many other countries may help and support with teachers aid and economic support.

  • I have to agree with Svetlana that the effects of this war is putting a horrible strain on the learning, but it's not only the students that are affected by this but teachers as well. I wouldn't say that they should be let back into the schools with extra protection, I want them to be able to learn and study in the safety of their houses, parents should try getting their children into online learning programs, so the'll feel more safe and continue their educational courses while being in the safety of their own homes. I say this because although education is one of the most important things a child should worry about, their safety is always the first priority.

  • Hello !
I think the long term effect of disrupting a education system will be-
On children- Kid will fall behind the world in their studies. Not only that they will also not be able to learn skills like listening, speaking etc. that are thought in school. This will lead to lesser opportunities in their future.
On workers- People working in educational fields will eventually loos their jobs. A lot of more people whose jobs are to clean or cook in the school their life will get disrupted and they might not be able to afford basic needs too.
Economy- If people don’t have jobs and can’t afford basic needs it will directly affect the economy. A lot of population will be dependent and all the country’s funds will get over in helping them. And gradually the economy will deplete.
On potential for progress- With no money and dependent population the country will lack 2 major factors required for progress. Which are money and Human Resource. With them the country can’t grow and no potential for progress will be left.
As we can conclude disrupting has a negative effect on individuals as well as the country Resulting in the ruining of the country. Because education has the power to make or break any individual or even a country.
    Thank you !

  • This war could have many adverse long term effects of disrupting an education system on the individuals, for instance:
Knowledge gaps and students can have loss of learning opportunities.
There could be reduced career prospects and earning potential.
The risk of poverty and social inequality may increase .
Long term effect on country could be:
Reduce in economic growth of the country and competitiveness.
Talented people may leave country in search of better oppportunities(Brain drain)
    Decreased innovation and progress.
I live in India and around 30-40 years ago during British era disrupted indian education system. They imposed Wesyern education and suppressed traditional education.
The effects of these can be seen today as well. Traditional education need to be promoted with indigenous language and knowledge.

  • In my opinion, children or staff that work at the school may be greatly affected, because a teacher may have been fixed to just being able to open a resource for the children to teach. with the limited resources this is no longer possible . This could affect a child by the sudden change in resources provided by the government. This could also affect the country by not being able to feed the schoolers and not being able to fund the schools.

  • Based on what Ms. Tomlin said the long term effect of disrupting the education system in Russia on individuals will lead to the children growing up to be less intelligent or in the dark about many subjects that they need to know. To justify, when the system downgrades the comprehension downgrades. I believe this would lead to heavy impact on the country/economy. Without the knowledge of everything going on the future generations would not have a leader that can truly advance the country. Without proper education the country as a whole cant progress the right way.

  • The long term effect of disrupting an education system is, The kids in that generation will not be taught everything they need to know. Kids will not be fully educated on a certain topic. This could be important information for life depending on what grade they were in. For the next few years, kids will be under-educated and have harder times finding jobs once they grow up. This would be bad for the economy. People rely on the kids to grow up and take over jobs. If they don’t have all their knowledge, they will have to go back to school and many jobs will be open. There will be many roles but not a lot of people to perform those jobs. Overall, the war could possibly make the Russian or Ukraine economy fail in the future.

    1. How could both Russia and Ukraine prevent their economy failing after a war due to lack of education of their young people?

  • I think the long term effects of the disruption of the education system can be the destroymen of the future of innocent children. It can lead to under development of the country. Children who want to study, who wish to be something, will not be able to tackle their dreams. The future economic progress will go down and down. If we think about it, the main effect would be - "dreams will remain dreams and a country would remain illiterate." This phrase actually makes us think how important education is.

    1. Do you think that children who have their education disrupted by war have other ideas on how they can be taught and what they would like to do?

      1. Yes, I think maybe few families teach their children at home. And if few teenagers had a dream of being a soldier or doing something fir their nation, they could join their parents in fighting the war for their country, but only if they above 15 or mostly 18.Also, if the danger reduces, the chlildren can work on their hobbies at home and fulfill what they dreamt to become.

  • In my opinion, education is really important, not only education from the school, also how to respect people and more during war time, when everyone is really sad from what is happening. So, I think, schools should go on, go to another place near the village, city... in orther to continue having classes and mantaining children occupie in orther not to think in the war. And also I think someone should be there to help people if they are very sad, and make others, have respect and education with each other.

  • Disrupting an education system due to war can have severe long-term effects on individuals and the country.

For individuals, especially children, interruptions in education can lead to gaps in learning, lower literacy rates, and reduced future opportunities. Many displaced students struggle to adapt in new education systems or never return to school. For example, children in Syria and Ukraine have faced years of disrupted schooling, affecting their ability to gain stable employment later in life. Workers also suffer as they miss chances for reskilling, limiting career advancement and economic mobility.

On a national level, an uneducated workforce weakens economic growth and innovation. Countries with prolonged educational disruptions often experience slower technological advancements and reduced global competitiveness. Post-war Afghanistan, for instance, has faced challenges in rebuilding its education sector, affecting its economic recovery and stability.

A country that has experienced this before is Germany after World War ll. The war destroyed many schools, and education had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Despite this, investment in education helped Germany recover and become a global economic leader.

To prevent long-term damage, governments and organizations should prioritize rebuilding schools, providing online learning options, and supporting teachers and students. Education is key to rebuilding societies after conflict.

  • The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war highlights the severe impact that disruptions to education can have on both individuals and nations. Ukrainian children are facing the loss of crucial schooling years, which not only hampers their future opportunities but also affects their mental and emotional well-being. For Ukraine, this disruption threatens to slow the country’s recovery and future progress, as an entire generation is at risk of being unprepared to contribute to the rebuilding of the economy and society.

Drawing a parallel to India’s partition in 1947, we see how a nation’s development can be delayed when education is disrupted. The loss of schooling for millions had long-lasting effects on the country’s human capital and economic growth.

To mitigate the destruction caused by lack of education, nations can take several measures. First, focusing on alternative learning platforms such as online education, even in crisis situations, can help children continue learning. International support for rebuilding schools and providing resources is vital for long-term recovery. Additionally, investing in community-based education programs can help reach displaced children and ensure they don’t fall behind. Ultimately, ensuring access to education during times of conflict is crucial for both individual well-being and national recovery.

    THANK YOU!

    1. You have made some very interesting points here - do you have any ideas on how education could have been accessed in your country during the 1940s given that online learning was not available? How did your country suffer?

      1. In the 1940s, education in India faced significant barriers due to colonial rule, poverty, and lack of infrastructure. Most education was provided through formal institutions such as schools and colleges, but these were limited, especially in rural areas. The system was largely centered around urban areas, leaving rural populations with minimal access to education. Many families could not afford schooling, and social factors like caste discrimination further hindered access for certain groups.

India's education system during this period was also largely influenced by the British colonial legacy, with an emphasis on English and subjects that served colonial interests, rather than local needs. Additionally, World War II and the subsequent economic strain disrupted educational progress. The country faced widespread illiteracy, with only a small fraction of the population having access to primary or secondary education.

The absence of online learning or other modern educational tools meant that most learning was traditional, involving face-to-face interactions in limited school settings. The country’s education system was hindered by limited resources, societal inequality, and the colonial legacy, leaving many without the opportunity to learn and contribute to national development during this crucial period.

        Thank you!

  • Some long-term effects of disrupting an education system on individuals will be, in children, a decrease in education quality, what it could cause lack of some habilities and problem solving, this could make, a generation less prepared for the future. In the workers, it could affect the quality of workforce. If the children does not recived a suitable education, when they grow up and they work, they could be affected by lack of skills. The long-term effects of disrupting an education system on the country, will be, a decline in progress, as they could not progress if the workers has not the skills needed, they will not be able to continue progressing, which also, will declined the economy if they stop developing.

    1. In what ways do you think that disruption to education could be minimised?

      1. I think the disruption of education system could be minimised by regulating schools and educational universities, by this, we can bring students back to their learning routine and help them cover up what they have missed. The government should also decrease school fees by atleast 50% so that students whose families have been financially disturbed by the war, can benefit this.

  • i think they should work harder to help childrens education as they are the future generations of their countries and the government should try to provide resources on either the childrens parents teaching them or for there to be like a center for them to go to so they can learn something because its going to effect future work industries as there wont be many people who are properly educated. I think that it is important for children to get the education that they deserve to have and the war is effecting there educations and effecting there chances at being successful.
The government should be working harder on trying to find ways for children to get education and that they need to put into perspective that the children who arent getting education are the future generation of the country

  • I personally believe that every child should have a right to education. I think this because education is not just important for yourself its important for everyone. Education helps everyone have a better future by boosting everyone to have a chance in getting a good career for the future. Russia and Ukraine need to focus on their children so they can have a nice enjoyable future. I think this because every person needs a chance to have a safe and enjoyable environment. Otherwise if Ukraine and Russia do not support their education then they are putting a huge risk of younger people to not having a chance to get the career that they wish for. If they do not support their children of their country then their children will suffer economically also this would effect their well- being.

  • A lot should be done about education because some kids right non don't even feel safe going to school from all the attacks that have been put on schools almost of kids are homeschooled Which isn't good enough for kids to learn school is a once in a lifetime thing and kids can't experen it because of this war school helps you learn social skills and learning online isn't as good as learning face to face.

  • I think that the result from this Will be students, engineers, proffesionals and doctors having a lower level of education than their colleagues from other countries. This is because more money is invested on the war than in education, indoctrination may become the objetive of education (like in Russian) and students may be conscripted causing a lack of news expertise, labour or graduates to be employed. This can affect the country economically for a long time and also if young soldiers die before having kids, fertility rates can decrease and the population would get older with a lack of workers to maintain the country.

  • A possible solution for this is to offer students grants or the opportunity to study abroad far from the war, so that they can be educated and receive a better education and return to their countries prepared enough to make things better for people and society. This will help them to not get behind other students and have the same skills and knowledge as students u der no war. I don't know if this could be done with Russian students but it would be a good choice for Ukrainians.

  • The long term effects of disrupting an educational system may show up as gaps in the learning of the students, students don't get to graduate when they should from a particular course of study, there might be low graduation rate, some students tend to give up pursuing their field of study moreso if they also have to contribute to the wellbeing of their families leading to a less skilled workforce, a persistent skill gap can make it difficult for students to adapt to the ever changing job market demands. Another challenge might be increase in crime rates, the students might begin to do things that are not right, there is a saying an idle mind is the devil's workshop. The mental state of the student is another thing that will be affected, the students might have a feeling of lost opportunity and hope.
Sometimes back in my country the Academic Staff Union of Universities while calling for increased funding went on strike for about 8 months, this resulted in the students spending more time out of classroom, an extension of academic calendar, families incurring more expenses in educating their children etc. Finally I must say long term disruption of education reduces the quality of education.

  • For some people, children not getting the education they deserve because of war in their country isn’t that big of a problem considering all the other problems in those countries at the moment. But, long-terms consequences are much more complex and worrying. Children without the right education, will probably turn out to be adults that lack teamwork skills, math and literacy knowledge and basic understanding of the way the world works. This things will affect the economy of the whole country as there will be just a few skilled workers with the right education as well as affecting the opportunities that these kids could have gotten to become doctors, policemen or women, teachers and many more essential jobs for the country’s well being and development.

  • Disrupting an education system has catastrophic long-term consequences for individuals and nations. Lost years in school result in significant learning gaps, impacting literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. This affects future employability, earnings, and exacerbates poverty and inequality.

The consequences extend to workers relying on education for career advancement, struggling to adapt to changing job markets, and creating an inferior workforce. On a national level, disrupted education damages the economy, as an undereducated workforce destabilizes industries, discourages innovation, and reduces productivity.

An illiterate society gives rise to governance problems, as citizens are susceptible to disinformation and corruption, destabilizing democratic institutions. Brain drain occurs as talented individuals seek better opportunities in more stable regions, draining the country's talent pool and slowing technological and social progress.

History has witnessed numerous countries facing these challenges due to war, economic crises, or natural disasters. During World War II, European schools were destroyed, and children lost formal education, resulting in long-term social and economic consequences. Conflicts in countries like Syria have led to children losing years of education, potentially producing a "lost generation" unable to contribute to the nation's rebuilding and development.

The disruption of an education system has immediate and long-term effects, with spillover consequences for numerous generations, making recovery efforts long and complicated.

  • Without education there will be a lot of long-term effects like less chances of getting a good job. With less education there will be way more illiterate people and a lower standard of living. The outcome of disrupted education will be horrible for the people and country. The people will be uneducated and clueless and the country will most likely fall apart. As a society we should, if not already, come to agree that education is important and if it is disrupted it wouldn't be a good outcome.

  • The disruption of education anywhere would have several negative impacts however for Russia, it could be a lot worse. Education is essential promotes personal growth for young children and allows them to have a deeper understanding on a wide range of situations. There are many different factors within education and some may say hundreds which shows the widescale impact of education as a whole. It may influence different people and change views snd perspectives regarding certain topics. Disruption of this could lead to chaos, without education many people are left without the knowledge required to grow their minds and this would lead to a lack of skills people have. This would mean there would be less workers and the economy would crumble as there is no money being made and people wouldn’t be able to live sustainable lifestyles.

Back in 2020 when lockdown occured, schools were shut down and it was harsh for many individuals as they missed out on crucial learning and some felt boredom. So imagine that happening now, especially during times of war in a country where people may already have concerns. That wouldn’t be great would it?
Hence, the schools shutting in Russia wouldn’t be the most appropriate option and perhaps restrictions should be set and rules should be made rather than stopping education completely.

  • The long term effects of disrupting an education system is that the children, workers and the country are affected. The kids will stop learning and they will suffer due to the teachers not teaching the correct curriculum, then they will grow up with incorrect information. Kids won't learn important information that can help them survive in the real world. This can be a problem when they look for jobs. The teachers as well will suffer because either they teach the students incorrect information or they will lose their job and their source of income. Over time with less people working could lead to an economic disaster, if people can't find jobs. Disrupting the education system can also lead to the country having a lower Literacy rate than before or even a lower GDP or GDP per capita.

  • the long term effects of disrupting an education system can be devastating. children might lack of basic skills (like speaking ,writing ,etc.). if they don't have proper resources to learn at the right time. which becomes a problem when they search for jobs. because of their low education they'll go for low category jobs such as mining ,drivers ,servants etc. This leads to a major problem of low GDP in Russia. On the other hand technology and science needs education, that means no progress in technology and science.

  • I feel that in my opinion there can be a lot worse effects of no education is provided to the students than we can even imagine. As we know, Education is the most important part of one's life as it not only teaches us new things but it also develops many skills within us and gives us more experience day by day.I completely agree with Svetlana Tomlin and feel really dejected for the students of Ukraine who are at no fault and are facing these situations at such an early age.

Firstly,I feel that there will be a huge impact on individuals like children as it will make them lagging behind compared to other students across the globe and it will cause lack in literacy and skillsets. Also there will be a huge impact on their future too because the students will lag behind so it will limit there job opportunities and they won't be able to catch up...

Secondly there will also be an immense and noticable difference on the country too because illiteracy rates will touch the sky and the economy and potential for growth will also be heavily affected. There will be no progress in the country and no major developments will take place.

So to sum up,I feel that illiteracy and lack in education will cause a major impact on both individual's level as well as the countries level.

  • For children, a disrupted education as it is currently in Russia, seriously limits their future opportunities and the way they perceive our society. Whitout an adequate schooling and promoted by a conflict as severe as the one as this innocent children are suffering, they are more vulnerable to suffer from misinformation and manipulation by the state, as well as limited jobs openings, and may suffer long-term psychological and mental damage due to the shock linked to the break down of the conflict. In case of workers, i.e. teachers, lack of classes with the children and disconnection of schooling could led to less professional productivity, lower earnings and slower occupational development.

  • In both Ukraine and Russia the schools are in need of desperate care. There will be long term effects on the children whilst also the whole country.
The individuals and children will find too hard to progress and learn. Because the children are avoiding bombs and living in the middle of a war it will be hard for them to sit down and learn. If I were learning in the middle of a war, I would worry too much about the war to listen to the teachers, also I wouldn't have all the equipment I need to learn as the war takes a lot of money and only a bit is given to schools.
The whole country will be effected because the new generation will not have the proper information and learning to become a successful citizen. People get old in life and it is up to the new generation to make a country triumph but with fake information given to children in Russia and children in Ukraine dodging bombs it will be hard to create new rising stars. Both countries need a lot of help on education. No progress will be made in learning with a war in the midst.

  • Hello, from my perspective what I really think from this topic is that is the basic step we need to follow when we are young for our future. Having a war in a country it brings many problems between them education. Many students stop learning from a very big period of time. They can´t continue going to school or high school. They can´t continue forming themselves to grow up with a lot of knowledge to use in their future and in their work. Also, teachers need students to educate them and they need to stop going to there works due to the war. They will not earn money for living, for paying their food, house, or what is necessary for them. Students wouldn´t be form to be working in a job so many jobs will disappear, for example doctors are very important and more important in a war. Oon the country, economy will decrease and many money will be lost. Many people will move from country.
