Hello, Topical Talk. I believe there should be a Hub discussion about how AI is used in this world and why?
Thanks for sharing but I think discussions about this might already exist on the Hub. Try reading through other students' comments on other posts to see if you can find ideas about this that you can build on.
AI is one of the most powerfull tools human´s have. It allows us to solve problems, innovate, understand some topics... The problem is that we sould know how to use it and do only good things like help others or make the world a better place... If we use it in the wrong way, AI can cause damage instead of helping. That´s why inteligence should always go with kindness intencions.
for me I sincerely think that the use of AI should be limited like a certain number of searches per day like a maximum search of three per day that way,the depletion of the ozone layer per day would be reduced and people can still go about their day to day activities with AI
Would you give any guidance on the type of searches that should/shouldn't be allowed?
Those that should be allowed could be educational searches which would better the lives of people example how to make an eco-friendly device .
Then should not could be for example pornography or learning scams etc.
I actually agree with him on his idea of restricting AI from responding to some certain and rather sensitive content. And by the way, restricting some content would help the planet develop because some of the people in the world would like to the things outside learning new skills. Hence,if AI is able to not respond to those sensitive and immoral content the energy produced by the machines would be reduced thereby making the planet a safer place
In my opinion, it is also very important to recognize that some institutions such as, but not limited to, scientific institutes or hospitals where AI contributes to achieving new, significant knowledge and progress in various fields of science, probably need more frequent and complex usage of AI in order to comply with their purpose. Therefore, I suggest to exclude those institutions mentioned above from restrictions regarding how frequently and how intensely AI should be used.
However, it is problematic to weigh up the need of those institutions to use AI against the urgency as well as the necessity of being sustainable and protecting the climate.
I am open to all opinions.
Best regards
I think that its right so you don't have unlimited searching so you can search for reasonable things
I disagree with the aspect of limiting attendances of AI. This is because the world is becoming a global village. We shouldn't limit production of ideas that could increase productivity of the worlds economy. Rather it could be improved.
Can you explain how we could improve use of AI?
AI can improve its use when we have been given enough information on how to use it.
Also stabilising it's sources increases its workability.
Fact finding the information generated by AI.
We could improve the use of AI by setting age limits. I think that AI is a very big tool that many children would´t know how to control. It would also be better if they were thaught how to use it and if they have a learning before the children were old enough to uese it.
I disagree because if people are to have limited number of searches it will affect both we the students and others who are out there that use AI everyday for instance Goggle offices that upload things on the web everyday if there should have limited internet most of our problems wouldn't be solved this thereby causing problem to people. lets say you are given an assignment of 10 questions and all of them deals with internet to find solutions to you might probably end up answering based on the limited access. so in my opinion i think that AI should have a free and unlimited search/use.
Thank You.
your comment if I am to say does not make any sense at all if you have limited number of searches does it mean that you have limited words. And by the way having limited searches would help you as a student think better it would send a message into your head that it is not every time you need artificial intelligence. Hence, increasing the rate at which we students develop ourselves mentally it could even reach to a certain point that may be as a student you would consult to studying more than using of AI.All i am trying to say is that AI is good but should not be used at all times.
I totally agree with you because no body in this life would want to die before their time. so I think it is better to sustain our lives than to encourage something that will end our lives. when the certain number of searches are limited as you said, it reduces the depletion of the ozone layer. as we know, the ozone layer protects us from the sun. so imagine where the sun is hammering on us and our crops are dyeing, how do you think we are going to survive.
Only a living man can have the opportunity to explore in live so lets think twice and save lives first. But that doesn't mean that the AI should be removed totaly.
Can you tell
But that could cause havoc to the society, because if we are to search just three times every day the world would just get disorganize. Let's say they give an assignment from different courses and all most of them are unsolvable by the Students and the Teachers may not want to answer because it was an assignment, then what are they supposed to do, because they may be more than three assignment unsolvable by the student? But is not that I completely disagree with you that much but just may be, they could stay up to six hours or up to fifteen Student related searches and then up to ten searches for people 18 years and above.
I hope you reply to this comment.
I firmly agree with you for if this is to happen then people will be also search the right things then instead of the ozone layer to reduse 200 tines it will go by just 10 i think you can search three times per day
I suggest the topic carbon emission and it's causes to the globe
Causes or effects?
It will be more appropriate to reframe it to Carbon emissions and its implications or effects Globally.
why do you suggest this topc.
I strongly believe AI has its benefits such as solving problems in businesses and assisting doctors to find cures but training only one AI model releases 285000 kg of carbon dioxide which is five times more than an average car in its life.
You've noted that there are some serious environmental consequences of AI but also highlighted how useful it can be. Would you suggest that there are some limits on how AI can be used to help the environment?
Hello , I think that the hub could have a pull about if AI always makes the right choices ?
in my opinion i feel like AI is not sustainable because firstly it makes people lazier a example is if you are shopping online you had the opportunity to go and get some exercise but you were online instead AI does not help everyone like my mum finds technology hard and just think in a time before AI was invented people survived so that means that if we did not have AI anymore we would still be able to survive my class discussed that if people went to the shops and did not do online shopping cars are bad for the enviroment i do understand that AI is not all bad and it entertains and helps us to communicate to one another just like i am doing right now and it is useful if you are doing work also social life many people would agree with me on this one but technology is making peoples social life not so good anymore because you are always on devices i think grownups probarly use less technology then us kids because when they were alive they had less technology but us kids today we use technology and AI in our every day life and that is why i think AI is not sustainable
I think there should be a Hub discussion post about 'Is the wait time for the progress of Artificial Intelligence worth it? It is understandable AI needs its fare share to time to adapt and refine itself but the depletion of all the resources in the development process too severe and too long. At the end how much return would it give to us? When will it completely develop? Are there enough resources available on the planet which can satisfy AI development? What rate of corrode will happen to the Earth if increasing AI needs are paired with the already increasing population and the resource needed to host it?
Will AI ever 'completely develop'? Or is it's development potentially infinite?
Thanks for sharing but I think discussions about this might already exist on the Hub. Try reading through other students' comments on other posts to see if you can find ideas about this that you can build on.
You can talk to AI, such as Alexa and Siri, they can help you learn and give you useful information. AI is good for problem solving but we must be careful to make sure the information is correct because sometimes on web platforms you can post news and sometimes it is fake and unsafe so don’t always trust AI.
I agree with you @ talented coconut especially for young people who use AI. I believe young people can use Ai but for reasonable things like that will be beneficial to them, but they will need a parent or a guardian to guide them on the web because if they search on their own, they might see some things that might not be true and believe it which might influence their decisions negatively. Parents can also put measures in place to stop the above from happening with the use of different AI tools.
I think we should talk more about why and how AI can help us. We can also talk about the negative and positive things that AI can do for us
Thanks for sharing but I think discussions about this might already exist on the Hub. Try reading through other students' comments on other posts to see if you can find ideas about this that you can build on.
To me, Ai is helping scientist with climate change, yet it can also cause irreversible damage to the climate. I think that the usage of AI should be limited to where it will not cause more CO2 release in the air than it should be. This way people are still able to use AI and it will not cause harmful damages to the earth we live on.
Hi Topical Talk! I think there should be a Hub discussion on the long-term environmental impacts of the usage of AI world-wide because then we would have a further view on the pros and cons of AI and also be able to see what may come if people begin adapting to AI.
Thanks for sharing but I think discussions about this might already exist on the Hub. Try reading through other students' comments on other posts to see if you can find ideas about this that you can build on.
I think that there should be a discussion on that how AI can be used to solve and combat global issues like the lack of potable water, lack of food, etc
I believe this is a great idea, considering that AI can be used to benefit and further advance our scientific and transportation technology in order to assist our world in the things we accomplish today. AI can be used in many fields, while encouraging the user to become more productive and educated by this intelligence. Utilizing AI in a beneficial way to prevent issues in the world, both regarding agriculture and natural disasters, would be a great topic to discuss. With the further advanced artificial intelligence, individuals will be able to accomplish our world's problems with great ease.
Hello team Topical talk.
We are discussing about AI sustainability this week.
Further to that I would like to suggest another topic - "The future of AI and its impact on our culture and ethics".
I like the idea of discussing this topic a lot and have my own thoughts on it as well:
A topic in ethics is working. Many philosophers have given their statements on this which partially are used in modern day. Some (also statements on other themes, such as self-development etc)are included in “work ethics”. A popular example of this would be that some people go by/work according to Kants theory on self-development/work (One has to grow out of their immaturity by learning how to work for and be themselves).
Ideas like this get partially contradicted by the usage of AI. Although AI is a great tool and helps with a lot of things, how far can and will the usage go? In medicine, eventually symptoms can be given and AI can think of the disease/issue the patient has nearly with complete certainty. In this example, through this, doctors will do less work in the field of diagnostics.
Cultures that pride themselves on their hard work will no longer be able to do so.
Of course there are more examples and further fields this can go into and this is just one of a few but I feel this could genuinely be a topic worth discussing.
I feel like it could be sustainable if it had a limit of how much Ai we have but it is not so it would not be sustainable some time in the future there will be a huge problem I bet because it is making people lazy it s not good for the environment and it is not helping our social life i feel like it is progressing in a bad way what about you guys share and explain why
I agree with this to an extent, I found that 86% percent of students have said they are using ai for school work. Which could cause a major problem in the future, when these students reach the work force. For example, in 10 or so years when these students become doctors or teacher, or many other professions, they may be unable to properly complete their duties because they cheated their way through school.
I to an extent agree with you @romantic_pie about AI making students lazy. Nowadays when class activities or assignments are given instead of students to go and search for the answers in their books or read to get an answer he or she would prefer to use artificial intelligence and this is a very big issue in the world because the devices used in AI companies use too much energy and also emit a lot of carbon into the enviroment so I came up with the idea of limiting the number of searches per day so as to not only make our students less AI dependent but also reduce the amount of carbon being emitted into the enviroment.
This is great 👍 I’d say it’s not sustainable because AI is taking over the whole world and in my opinion it’s especially taking over America which is not good 👎 in like 2030 EVERYONE will be so lazy and all proper shops will be closed and only online shops will be used . Its definitely not sustainable
I think there should be a Hub discussion post about whether AI should be recalled from the public or not, because there are multiple negative effects on the environment because of AI such as :
1.Soil erosion.
2.Greenhouse gas emissions.
3.Pollution.
I think it will be a good discussion because some people have access to and use it and others don't.
A discussion or debate on whether we should make AI sustainable or get rid of it. I believe if we get rid of it, the better things will go and we might also get things back to normal. But even if we make it sustainable, people will not get to put their imagination and coming back to the the fact that if AI continues, people will likely loose their jobs, and it prevents you from expressing your creativity too.
AI can seem very unstable due to multiple mess ups throughout the world. You know when your phone accidentally gets wrong and can't distinguish who you are.Or when you say something for AI to repeat and they get the idea completely wrong.AI seems very out of control in today's eye. However due to human desperation AI seems to be a source possibly used in our everyday lives. When you get your phone to distinguish your identity, commercials, social media in general, and the list goes on.The idea of AI is helpful and harmful.
AI can be helpful with new technologies, education, and health care.New technologies can produce a much more productive learning environment creating new learning devices.Health care is getting more advanced having better advantages making it much easier to diagnose patients and such.
AI can also be harmful by copying others ideas in the art community, using energy that pollutes the earth, and supports cheating and skipping the actual learning process.AI in the art community often sees beautiful art work made by a professional artist and copies it and makes it worse some YouTubers can help spot the difference in regular art work. Most students can use chatgpt to do all their work and such.
Overall AI can be bad or good depending on the subject matter.
This is a good thought of you bold_ skill. The most worrying phase of AI is the fact that it brings mimicry where we all might end up thinking in the same direction. I support the opinion that it should it be analysed looking into the positive and negative aspects to ensure balance.
I agree with this for a slightly different reason. AI analyzes and then copies already written works, which can bring up problems with distinguishing AI from human written pieces. A lot of times AI detectors give false positives on purely human works because they are well written. In the long term this could diplinish the level on which people write, because they are trying to avoid getting blamed for plagiarism.
I THINK THAT AI SHOULD BE LIMTED FOR CHILDERN BEACAUSE IT MAKES THEM LAZY
I think there should be a Hub discussion post about "AI and the future Eco-system" because from what I 'have known so far about AI and sustainability, I don't think it will be to sustain us if no appropriate modifications are not done and also in other not to lose our planet full of abundant oxygen and natural resources. From my own point of view, I have got to realize that AI releases too much CO2 into the atmosphere which depletes the ozone layer so in that case, I suggest we should have a discussion about AI and the future Eco-system because I know an adage which says "In stitch in time saves nine"
Thanks for sharing but I think discussions about this might already exist on the Hub. Try reading through other students' comments on other posts to see if you can find ideas about this that you can build on.
I suggest the topic " GREENHOUSE EFFECT: ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES".
Thinking about how necessary evil AI is, we know how AI development and its usage is leading to unnecessary energy consumption and carbon emission. We can discuss upon 'How can we limit AI's usage and create energy efficient AI'.
I think there should be a hub discussion post about how we are going to make the world sustainable and save it with AI, before it's too late.I think this because this is something that humans really need to know if we are to keep Artificial Intelligence running without too much damage to the earth.By too much, I mean that we need to be as sustainable as possible, but as of right now, we will not be able to keep it 100% sustainable until everyone puts in their effort.
I would suggest the topic if it’s justifiable to restrict the use of AI in the case of private Households. I think this topic is quite interesting as it is an more detailed example of the question if the government should be allowed to restrict private Households or everyone should have the right and freedom to do what they believe is right.
I think there should be a hub discussion topic about using Ai to make things smarter and using Ai to make us sound smarter. AI has the potential to make our work smarter by automating task, decision making, boosting productivity, etc. It also plays its role in personalized learning, healthcare and diagnostics and various fields like marketing and agriculture. But relying on Ai every time for simple tasks declines our thinking ability, creative thinking, problem solving and decision-making capacity. This can reduce our ability to think for ourselves and makes us depend upon it. AI is nothing but a tool that enhances and supports human capability but not a shortcut to replace our ability to think. Hence it is important to maintain balance between ai use and human capability.
Hello, topical talk I would like to suggest a few topics to be discussed and debated.
1- consequences of increasing AI facilities like chatgpt ext in student life .
2-usage of AI in completing UNSDG.
3- role of AI in increasing unemployment and poverty.
I think there should be a discussion on the Hub about AI in education system: Is AI acutally a learning tool or just a shortcut to cheating?Because primarly we are all students of simillar age,and i think by starting this topic,we could actually get a firsthand information about how good artificial intelligence is for students, and perhaps maybe it should be banned for them?
This is a good point. AI and education should be interrogated. Because we are left wondering wether it should be a shortcut or education aid tool that can be developed further?
I agree with centered squirrel because some people can search rude things so I think it should be limited.
Can you think of any examples of how AI use could be limited?
A topic on which people can talk but at the same time many people may hesitate, yes, I would like to suggest such a topic where people will not only give suggestions but also receive motivation. And Personal Growth is one such topic, many people now a days, especially teenagers are not able to make their decisions, they are not capable of choosing the correct path for themselves, and even adults, many adults miss setting up goals, and I would like a HUB discussion on the same, where my fellow mates and I focus on discussing about
1. SELF-IMPROVMENT-: why extracurricular and hygiene is necessary along with studies
2. MOTIVATION-: what many motivators and role models say about choosing the correct path, and making the decisions
3. GOAL SETTING-: setting goals and working your sweat off till you achieve it
4. PUSHING FORWARD-: why pushing yourself forward is necessary?
I would love if this topic is made a HUB DISCUSSION TOPIC.
Thank You!
Hello, topical talk! I suggest that there should be a discussion about the ongoing refugee crisis since it relates to the Syrian rebel situation too.
I would like to discuss TikTok getting banned in America as citizens of America really enjoy going on TikTok and scrolling for hours. I suggest not to do that and to things that will actually help you have a good future and be successful like getting a job or exercising daily say you want to become a professional athlete you need to start at a young age so you could eventually get scouted and you will soon get to professional leagues. Also you need to stay dedicated on your dream if someone ever says you can’t make it you should keep on trying and never give up.
Interesting thoughts - do you think there are also negatives to scrolling TikTok for hours?
In my opinion, there so many negatives associated with scrolling tiktok for hours.
One will be so much addicted and will keep soo much time following up on tiktok that could just be eye catching and not mind educating.
Please share this idea in the News near you zone!
I think there should be a Hub discussion post about how we as citizens can help make AI sustainable and about ideas and techniques we can use to help make AI more sustainable because though several companies and programs are working to make AI more sustainable, I think they could use a helping hand and if we all work together to make AI more sustainable, the outcome will be more efficient.
I would like to start a discussion on how much we should use AI. In my opinion, I actually think there should be a limit of time as to how much we use AI as AI is predicted to have produced millions of electronic waste by 2030 and by 2050 AI will have produced 120 million metric tonnes. This cannot occur so in order to prevent this I think there should be a daily limit. I had the idea of an hour or two, but also a time to research sustainability and how do be environmentally friendly. So if we have a short amount of time used on AI and researching how to be sustainable as a part of it, the world will become a better place.
I think there should be a hub discussion about, " AI or Sustainability. Which one will you choose?"
Many people would love to see the way AI would change the world. It would really help the world and it would also be quite cool. But to have AI change the world, we would need to make a sacrifice, the world. Ai damages the world, an example of this is that it uses 285000 kg of carbon dioxide a year and we can't afford that to happen. AI clearly isn't sustainable and that brings us to our discussion; would you want to see AI change the world, or would you want to save the world?
I think there should be a Hub discussion post about how culture and diversity how other country's have different rules and laws because it's important to learn other ways of living. And learn how uniquee people are from different tribes and how they see the world. Plus to see others opinions about what religion we should follow
well as I see it, i think we should have a Hub discussion about "Ai and job replacement".. because as we all know AI is a very capable technology and it holds the potential to replace jobs that are mostly done by humans because it can be more skillful and efficient. This can be both beneficial and a caution to us, people will loose their jobs and suffer. what can we do to both continue the use of Ai and regulate it to ensure that it doesn't aggravate unemployment?
or should we just stop AI's use at workplace at all?
I think there should be a Hub discussion post about how AI can help to fight climate change because it is becoming a very big problem for the world . AI can help to keep a check on deforestation, predict weather patterns , keep us updated about global warming , and can also tell about some smart farming methods to grow crops with less water and less chemicals and pesticides. It can also help in creating eco friendly vehicles, buildings etc , which will help to reduce global warming and climate change. This discussion would help us to know more about how AI can be helpful in solving one of major problems of the world and make it a better place for future.
Ai is booming high, but as far as sustainability is concerned,I am doughful .Increased interference of Ai is making young generation dependent on it, which leads to decrease in making use of human intelligence and emotional health. In the coming time, people will become mechanical, on the other hand the immense use of ai gadgets will give rise to wastage.
I think there should be a Hub discussion post about how and why AI is used by people involved in different occupations. Which occupation is using it the most and least and who all should be allowed to have access to it. Also if you could give a time limit to the usage of AI would it be helpful for the future generations.
Can you think of the occupations you think use it the most, and why?
Hello every one, I would want to ask this tangible question. is it possible to have an AI detector that can tell whether a vote is real or fake during an election in order to avoid double or fake voting during an election.?
THANKS.
I think we should talk about is going to mars a good or bad idea because in the future we will eventually do that (if we have the right tools)
I think there should be a Hub discussion about the educational system. Because some people think that It is a good system but others think the contrary.
In my opinion educacional system is wrong because in real life out of schools or high-schools you are tested before you learn but in schools you learn and then you are tested.
I believe that we should further extend on the importance AI has on this generation, especially regarding the younger population and how this may affect them as they continue to grow and blossom into an adult.
Hi glorious_parrot - can you tell me a bit more about how you think this may affect the younger population?
Yes! I definitely can. For starters, a lot of children are exposed to an unlimited range of technology, including artificial intelligence. My worry is that the young population today is exposed to an excessive amount, which could lead them to rely more on sources such as AI, instead of using their base knowledge to continue on in today's world. With artificial intelligence expanding on it's worth and capabilities, by the time these young individuals blossom into adults, they would have a complete understanding of how it works and how it is utilized in the world, especially regarding careers and agriculture.
I think think there should be a hub discussion post about how to prevent AI from taking over the world because i think it is important to be careful about what happens in the future imagine in your job AI could take over ,you don't even know how many peoples jobs might be ran over AI's robots.
I think there should be a hub discussion on the topic "Ai leads to sustainability (or )addiction". Nowadays more people are getting lazy to do their educational work and just, they will search on the contents in AI and copy paste in a file ar document.this is absolutely cheating. People depend AI for crazy things. Many people are not giving a single work to the brain to function and replace the AI in the ace of human brain. more people, especially students are completely dependented on Ai for silly things and just addicted.wihout AI they can't imagine anything, that like people are trapped in the AI addiction and suffering.Ai is only to help and provide us with informations, not to replace the human brain. We want to instruct AI for our need,The AI should not instruct us.We want live our life for us, not for AI. Also in exams mor students are copying the answers using AI which spoil the future leaders, students behaviour and discourages them to do wrong things.
Ai is not completely trustable,so we want be carefull with AI .
