  • Elon musk is a very rich man and I know that anyone who is rich is powerful. He is from south Africa, a business man and polital figure since January 2025. He is serving as an administrator of the Department of Government and he was born in June 28th, 1971 and he has done many things in his life and he has not gone far yet
He is the owner of X and his company has done a lot of things to help people. He is very politically and helps different people.

    1. I agree because he is a very wealthy man whose net worth is over $426 billion since the last year and still making more through SPACEX X, Tesla, the Boring company so know serving as a department of government

      1. I agree because he is actually the most richest Persons and like people said the rich people have power in 2002 he found SpaceX he is also the CEO of electric car make Tesla. Apart from that the those he also have a lot of other companies.

    2. I agree because... actually he is the world most richest person and like you said riches speaks power. In 2002 he founded spaceX, he is also the CEO of electric car maker tesla. Apart from those companies listed he has a lot of companies

    3. Good research

    4. Good information on Elon Musk. Can you think of examples of how he has as used his power. Do you think his being political will give him more or less power?

      1. He has used his power to illegally access and disband numerous government agencies/departments, including USAID and the Department of Education

    5. Elon musk has risen to be famous by finding some of the most innovative tech companies in the world today, including eletric vehicle maker Tesla and space exploration company space X.

    6. i do somewhat agree with what you have said but then again elon musk acts as if he is blind to problems going around the world when he is in the very right position to help

  • I think that Malala Yousafzai is an example of powerful people. She was born in Pakistan and is known for being an activist who fight for the education of girls, and after she was shot, she became a symbol of the fight for education. When she was a teenager she fought for the education for girls and she succeeded. The biggest success was when she stood in front of tje people and spoke about it, but of course also the fact that she managed to improve education. I think that what she did is what we should all do when we think that some things are not fair.

    1. I agree because Malala Yousafzai was fearless of the Taliban, and even when they threatened her, she continued to speak out against them, and she also started a charity for the right to education for children in low income countries, which proves that the power she had was used responsibly and for a good cause.

    2. Hi, imaginative_engine! I also think Malala Yousafzai is one of the most powerful people in the world because she has so much courage and thanks to her, millions of girls get to learn and go to school. Instead of staying silent and keeping her head down, she used her voice to fight for the right to receive proper education. In fact, when she was 17, she became the youngest person to win the Nobel prize. She proved that age doesn’t define power- your actions do.
Did you know that she co-founded “Malala Fund”? Yep,it’s a foundation that helps millions of girls around the world to get access to education. Nowadays, she meets world leaders and inspires young activists, to tell her story and to prove that you can turn pain into power by using your voice. After all, in my opinion, power should always be used for good.

Do you think that young people today have the same courage to stand up for their rights, just like Malala Yousafzai did? Let me know what you think :)

  • My opinion is that firstly , every person can be special if he/she know what is his/her power in . It could be mental , physical or even financial . This person who some of these powers need to examine in it to know how to evolve it and even investigate in it .
An example of physical power that changed people's mind is the Egyptian celebrity Mohamed Salah who is an idol for a lot of people across the globe influencing people to improve their power and master it .
Across the world , a lot of businessmen used their mind and intelligence to upgrade their business until they became rich or one of the richest across the world . In my country , Ahmed Abo Hashima how had lived with an extremely simple family financially . Although he was still in university he worked in a bank as a trainer then he worked in steel factory and used his mental power to begin a business of steel factory , after that he made a factory until he upgraded himself to be one of the foremost and richest businessmen .
Another example from my country ( Egypt )are Naguib and Samih Sawiris .

    1. I agree because Mohamed Salah is a really influential person on and off the pitch, this is shown when he donates money to help charities around the world. He is currently sat on top of the premier league and the champions league with Liverpool ,this is due to his resilience- keeping a strong mindset . This has made a real difference to many around the world helping them get through tough things.

      1. I agree because advising in the world is all about the actions of YOU; human are the power of this world and money is just one fraction. the movement of power to the ones below makes the world better for all.

  • One of the young powerful people I seen through news is Greta Thunberg, she shows us a different kind of power. She doesn’t have a big company or lots of money, but her words inspire people especially young people like us across the globe. She fights for the environment and pushes leaders to take action on climate change. This shows how power can come from courage and strong beliefs. Social media has also changed how power works. people like khans lame, who makes funny videos, now have the power to influence millions of followers. This is a new kind of power that didn’t exist before, where anyone can become powerful if their ideas connect with people.

So in today’s world power comes from actions , ideas , and the ability to inspire others. The real question is, how do we make sure power is used for good?

    Thank you :)

    1. I really like that you thought of someone who has power in a non-traditional sense and have questioned what being powerful means in this day and age.

How do you think power can be used for good? Do you think common people without influence have power?

      1. People often see power as something only leaders, politicians or billionaires have, but in my POV power is not just in their hands ,power is in the hands of every person who dares to stand up, speak out and take action. If we take a look at history, we can see that Mahatma Gandhi had no weapons or wealth, yet he led millions to freedom. How? Because he understood something that many of us don’t , he understood that power us not about control it’s about courage so he refused to bow down to injustice and an entire nation followed him. If u ask that ordinary people like us have power? Yes, ofc. Take Malala Yousafzai, she was just a school girl but she believed that girls should be educated like boys, the people tried to silence her they even attacked her but if u think that did she stop? No, she spoke even more louder and she became a global voice for education.
In my opinion, POWER IS NOT ABOUT BEING FAMOUS, POWER IS ABOUT TAKING A STAND. And the biggest lie we’ve been told is that we are powerless and the truth is every single one of us has power.

        Thank you :)

    2. Good point. Greta shows how passion and enthusiasm can drive change while Khaby demonstrates that creativity can reach the masses. To ensure that power is used for the good, those with power/influence must act responsibly. We, general folk, must support positive vibes and hold those in power accountable.

  • Elon Musk is a very powerful man with many multi-million dollar companies such as Spacex, X, And Tesla. Elon Musk is so powerful that only a few are able to be compared to him,but like I said a few. A powerful person I have seen recently in the news is recently elected president Donald Trump. He is very powerful and you can tell because in seconds he can have thousands of army troops at his aid. Another example of how he used that power he possesses is when he recently sent 1,500 troops to the border to assist in the border crisis with hundreds of illegal immigrants trying to cross the border. Both Elon Musk and Donald Trump Are very powerful men,but as people say "With great power, comes great responsibility."

  • Power is an unlimited force that can push anyone to achieve their dreams by just believing in their own type of power . Power can be seen in many ways whether they are good or bad. Examples of power include:the power to be able to let your voice be heard, the power of changing the world, the power of faith and more. Power can be showen in different scenarios which proves that power has endless shapes. What I think is a very influential example of powerful people is Ahmed zewail, he was an Egyptian chemist who was awarded with the nickname "father of femtochemistry" . He changed the world with his own invention "femtochemistry" . And as a result, he won the Nobel prize for chemistry in 1999. Ahmed zewail was an ordinary person but his power to invent a new thing and to follow his beliefs was extraordinary. Powerful people like Ahmed zewail and other incredible people should always be remembered.

But what should be avoided is using your power to do bad things that could harm the planet and the people around you. Many people think that power is limited in body strength and money only, which in my opinion, is totally wrong. Now my question to you is: what is your definition of power?

    1. This is great research, I really like the way you describe power and the different ways it can be used.
DO you have an example of someone using power in a bad way?

  • I think Mohamed Salah, the famous Liverpool football player, is one of the most powerful people who represents our country. He's so strong because he has a really big impact on young people all over the world. He's a positive role model and his strong and inspiring personality is changing the lives of many young people.
His influence isn't just for kids who like football. Even people who just watch his story, from growing up in a simple place with not much, to becoming so famous and successful, can feel inspired to work hard and overcome challenges.
I think people like him should use their power to encourage others who are in similar situations. They can help inspire people to be the best they can be, no matter what they're interested in.

    1. I agree because... he has money and power but he uses it for good not for fame. But he is also like Marcus Rashford. He use every thing for good.

    2. Good ideas!

  • Elon musk is the most wealthy person on earth and is known for his power and richness, being powerful and weathly is not really a good thing if you are responsible for the application X (twitter) which takes loads of responsibilities.
Being responsible for alot of stuff causes stress and anxiety, but I think that Elon musk is good at taking all of these responsibilities at once and being able to control them all.

    1. Do you believe being wealthy and powerful automatically makes someone capable of managing a platform like X?

      1. No I do not think that owning a platform like X needs someone that is rich to run it. On the other hand a platform like space X and Tesla needs to have a rich owner to start the business. The expenses that it takes to start a business and buy the parts can take the money that someone makes in 3 - 4 years (depending on the amount made in a year). Elon Musk makes the average persons amount of money in a week.

Elon Musk currently has an estimated 400 trillion which is more than Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos combined. all of the people that can fund these projects and keep these companies up and running must have a lot of money to make sure that everyone has a safe life. Tesla can help to make this world a better place with less accidents and other injures that could have been prevented with automates cars.

        1. I agree because... Elon Musk gets more money everyday because of the made each day from his companies, owning a company needs much money in order to keep the business going.

      2. I personally don't think just because someone is capable of having power and great wealth, they are susceptible to managing a social media platform. Especially with its popularity, I think you would have to understand the "ins and outs" of the platform, and how the behind the scenes works to be able to manage the platform. In addition, having great wealth does not necessarily apply the power to manage a platform of such greatness in size, or a great aspect of management onto somebody.

      3. I believe that if you are powerful and wealthy you would have experiences managing company's and social media and even if you didn't, you could easily hire an experts to manage it in place of you.

        1. What i am saying, is even if you do hire you should understand how the platform is built to be able to understand what can go on as the head of the business. Even if i have had experience, it does not necessarilly mean that i am at a high standpoint in managing it, and thus it is not so easy as if you have built the platform, like elon has, you wont be able to explain it to them as you are incompotent in the works.

    2. I don't actually think that Elon musk is doing everything by himself I actually think that he has other people who assist him in controlling his business. I actually think Elon musk is doing a great job in controlling X(Twitter).

      1. You're right, usually successful people have a whole team of people working with and for them that allow them to reach those heights!

  • A powerful figure I have seen in the news for years in the news is an American minister and activist, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His national holiday occurred last Monday. Martin Luther King worked hard in order to shape the world we have today. An example of Martin utilizing his power is by gaining the courage to speak out against Jim Crow laws, segregation, and discrimination. His famous "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial was viewed by many, changing the way they proceeded on in life. His speech was to bring awareness to the racial injustice occurring in America, hoping to abolish racism and gain civil and economic rights for all people. Despite being jailed many times, King continued to showcase just how passionate he was about civil rights, soon receiving a Nobel Peace Prize for fighting against racial inequality. Unfortunately, Martin was assassinated while standing outside on the balcony of his motel room. Still, his legacy and impact worldwide continues to be recognized by many individuals.

    1. Martin Luther King's influence is definently not one to be forgotten. His impact on America, and even the whole world is not something you easily overlook. Compared to the person I talked about, Nelson Mandela, I feel Mr. King's impact was way more felt, as he is the main reason behind the abolition of racism and segregation in America and the world.

    2. A really good example of a personal who used their fame to advocate for a better world!

    3. I completely agree that people who have power and influence over others should use their force for good. A real legacy of power changes the world. We had discussions in our school about whether or not King's speech was still relevant today. Some felt that racism still existed in the world even though equality was better.
Power over people should be for the betterment of the world.

  • Ratan Tata is a very rich and powerful man he was a Indian industrialist. Philian thropist, and the former chairman of Tata sons and the Tata group.. He was was a famous person in India and died recently.. Acoording to me he is the example of how to live our life happily and simple even if we have too much Money.. He did not have any thoughts in his mind like he was rich man so he don't want to help any one.. He was sure even though he was rich he need to help the ones who ask for help..

    1. How do you feel that his power helped him to help people?

      1. I think his power helped people by sponsoring money to the needy peoples. He also sponsored for cancer treatments and helped recovering them.. He give half of his money the needy ones. He has made many students to study by giving scholarships.. Even before his death donated money to orphanage.. By his behaviour his power became famous throughout India

    2. Yes, I agree. Ratan Tata was indeed a very powerful figure in India and maybe the whole word. He was known for his kindness and sympathy. He was the first person ever to build cheap cars, just to make them affordable for everyone because in India poverty is the major issue; not everyone gets to afford luxurious vehicles, but then too he got critiscized because people didn't like the cars much because it was very "simple"; not understanding his intentions behind creating cheap cars. Although Mr Tata belonged to a very rich family, he told in an interview that when he was a child; a rolls royce came to drop him home but he found it very embarrassing because his other friends weren't that rich and that made Mr Tata stand out. He is pure definition of simplicity, a person who can never be hated! The whole india cried when he passed away. He has left a remarkable change on India. With all respect, he was and IS a very powerful and influential person!

  • Hello Topical Talk,
From my point of view, doctor magdy yacoub is the most powerful person because he is not just powerful for his money or popularity but he is powerful for his education. Doctor magdy yacoub affects on people positively using his wonderful knowledge. Doctor magdy is a cardiologist as all of us know but he is not a normal one, he could help millions of ill people. Finally, doctor magdy 's power is very special and important in our lives.
    Thanks 🌺

  • Mark Zuckerberg is also one of the most wealthy people in the world. He did this by making Facebook and having investments for Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus. He was born in May 14, 1984 and became a billionaire at just 23 years old. He changed people's lives by people getting addicted to all the platforms Zuckerberg has owned.

    1. What makes you believe that people have become addicted to these platforms?

      1. I believe that the low anticipation of doing stuff like commenting, scrolling and posting has made people have a more addictive stance . This will most likely send a hormone to make it get more addicting throughout the years. And I have researched this topic and I have found out that the main platforms that are getting addicting are FaceBook, Tiktok and Instagram. Zuckerberg is a part of 2/3 of these apps shown. By 2050 there will be about 9 billion people on the earth as we know it out of those 9 billion more than half of the world will be using these platforms on a daily basis.

        1. This is interesting, well researched! Social media engagement has known to be an addictive habit for some.

      2. I personally think that because people who have been watching or playing or even just seeing these platforms make them more addicted to the Internet and the offline platforms also.
Influencers like to post many posts and videos are addicted to the Internet and can't get to leave their phones and devices.
That is what I think about this topic.

        Thanks For Listening.

  • When people have money they might think they are very important. They could become corrupt and think they can do bad things by giving money to people. They may think they are important but they are not as powerful as the law.

    1. Great start, could you think of some examples?
Has there been a scenario where money has helped people get the law on their side. ie. paying for better lawyers or bribing the police?

  • Hello Topical Talkers 🤗

A billionaire businessman that deveolped and co-founded the company of Microsoft is Bill Gates who lived in the united States of America. When he was Young he went to a private school and then he had a friend in it and they both liked computers and programming, his friend was called Paul Allen.

At age 13, he wrote his first computer program on a computer, which allowed users to play games against computer. Later in 1976 he and allen developed and entered Microsoft company. Gates wrote open letters to computer lovers he asked them for sharing software and don't pay for software. Then he kept developing in Microsoft until Microsoft company became the largest software company and it changed the way we use computers, He became one of the wealthiest men in the world 🌍.

I really think Bill Gates is a powerful businessman who use his wealth to make the world better. And this is the postive power that wealthy people use. I really wish to be a great programmer like him.

    Thanks for reading 😊

    1. Thanks for your comment, I found it very interesting, but I didn't quite understand the bit about Bill Gates' open letters. Could you tell me more, please? Why did he write the open letter and who did he want to read it?

      1. Thank you for encouraging me about my comment.
In 1976....Bill Gates was young, he noticed that his program ( Altair Basic ) was shared by alot of people without paying money to him and his team.
He was really furious and wrote an open letter to computer hobbyists he said to them it is not fair to not pay for his team because they have taken alot of time and paid lots of money in it. So , he wrote a letter to tell everyone that copying software without paying is like stealing.

well here is the link I got from it the information.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Open_Letter_to_Hobbyists

    2. Thank you for sharing about Bill Gates and that you feel he is successful and powerful. Do you think success is necessary to be powerful?

      1. In my opinion , You do not need to be successful to be powerful…Some people have power because they know important people or control things. On the other hand , there are a lot of successful people who are not known until now but if you are in a good position and successful like Bill Gates who is powerful based of his success!!

  • At first, it has to be clarified what "power" and therefore "powerful" describes.
It can whether be defined as military power, such as being a General or political power, such as being a politician. Moreover, knowledge can also be quite powerful and can also be used to change the world, such as being a scientist and money can make someone powerful, too.
Not less important is to recognize that power can also be used positively as well as negatively. Using one's military power to invade another country would be an example of negative usage of power, while donating one's money would represent a positive usage of power.
Powerful people in the news are, e.g. aristocrats like Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg, politicians like Olaf Scholz or Donald Trump.
Olaf Scholz, for example, is using his political power and status in the Germn government, in order to give aid to Palestinian people who were harmed in the war between Israel and Hamas.
Mark Zuckerberg also had a positive impact on society by founding an initiative to help society's challenges with his wife.
On the other hand, wealthy people like Elon Musk use their power and influence to support radical parties such as the German far-right wing party AfD in their election campaign calling them on their party congress.
Also, in 2021, Donald Trump used his influence to appeal his supporters to storm the capitol, which is provided with negative connotation.
In total, it can be said that it is to be pay attention on how power is used by powerful people.

    1. I love the way you have really thought out your answer!
Is the line between good and bad power always clear?

      1. As you are indicating, the power of somebody can neither be classified as positive or negative clearly.
Underlining this opinion is that power is classified subjectively, so there is always a 'good' side and 'bad' side, depending on the perspective of how the subject is being looked at.
To that, an example of supposedly bad exercise of power is that Elon Musk bought Twitter, renaming it X, and allowing extremistic ideologies to spread. On the other hand, the usage of Musk's power is positive for people of simlar attitude and opinion as Musk's position.
Moreover, politics includes laying out power and exercising it. There, it also cannot be divided into 'bad' and 'good' power, as here are different sides and opinions on the executed power.
What does exist, though, is a grey area, where many of decisions are positioned, such as in politics or economics, which includes many different opinions and srtandoints, to which power may seem different and have different impact, whether positive or negative.
Concluding, in terms of power it is not to be drawn a line on the border between good and bad, as mentioned in the point of above.

  • I think that with all of people who are wealthy aren’t really important just because they have money…. Money doesn’t mean everything to us they should contribute to the community and make the world a better place and not spending it on stupid thing and focus on making the environment a better place. If this does take place, then this will result in us being able to buy things getting a home to stay in and more. Like Elon musk do you know that he has over 422.7 billion usd this could help over millions of people who are poor and can make the world an efficient world making it a eco-freindly place

    1. Great Ideas! Do you think that the potential impact of their money makes them more important than those without money even if they dont use it for others?

  • Hello topical talkers,

One of the superior men in the world, Kim Jong un, the president of north Korea. he is casually seen by people as the worst human in mankind which he probably is, at least in my opinion. one of his terrible rules is if your house is burning down you need to save his picture without any other thing in your hand and then, you can save your children, if this wasn't horrible enough, then what about not being allowed to flee the country?

So really people there are suffering poverty and malnutrition which is the opposite when it comes to the army as it has a large quantity of nukes.

In conclusion, Kim is known for his negative but strong power.

  • Last Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. day in my country. I believe that he is a very interesting and important example of a powerful person. He is known for his actions involving racism and segregation. He used calm and peaceful nature to protest and fight for things that were right. He used his knowledge and experiences to influence and change people's thoughts. He cared for the people who were being treated unfairly and fought for equality. Thank you for listening about this very important figure that changed history.

    1. Thanks for sharing! I hope you had a good time celebrating such a significant day.
Do you think his calm approach is what made him so powerful and what made people listen to him?

  • A man who has masterfully turned social media into a way to gain lots of influence is Nigel Farage. As leader of Reform UK and former EU parliament member, Farage was already an incredibly influential figure but he was not seen as a major figure in modern British politics until 2023. Comments and posts started appearing about the reform party but only from a few people online. Reform was an unknown fringe party and still was at this point. But, these posts spread and millions of people online, within the next couple months, began making similar posts and videos. Reform turned from a small party, destined to no councillors and just a few thousand votes to a massive party, getting 5 seats and more than 4 million votes in the election, all by using social media. Many of these posts were found to be from bots but despite this, it helped their cause and it is a story of how social media was successfully weaponised to spearhead Reform into politics. I do not personally like Reform due to issues involving the NHS and the overall economy but the way social media was used by them was genius.

    1. Very impressive research and post!

Do you think other politicians and political parties in the UK are taking the growth of Reform seriously enough?
Why do you think Reform has grown in popularity with voters?

      1. No, I don't think the growth of Reform UK is being taken seriously enough. To be honest, I find it pathetic how the main opposition Reform is facing in parliament is childish "boo"s when Farage stands up. What needs to be addressed is his dangerous political beliefs such as promoting potential private healthcare insurance systems. Farage himself tweeted "Today was the best budget since 1986" on September 23rd 2022, just days before the same budget crashed the economy. Any other major political figure could make a slight slip up and Nigel will milk it to death.

I understand why Reform and populism as a whole is growing. People have had enough with the system and the way it works and they are fully within their right to do that. Just because they are in their right to do that does not mean they should do it without research which is what we are seeing with Reform. I reckon at least half of all Reform "members" aren't even aware that they are donating to a limited company, not subscribing to a membership of a "party" in which they cannot even participate in leadership elections. Being fed up with systems that have fundamental flaws, such as FPTP, are valid, but, being fed up with systems that have fundamental flaws whilst not even knowing what those flaws are is not.

It's my personal opinion that Reform not only promotes what it claims to be against, the establishment, but is a part of it and would make daily life even more difficult for the average person should they be elected.

  • I think that anyone can be a powerful person in their own category and if they belive in themselves, and I believe that we cannot describe one person as powerful on whole, they are power ful in their own way , for example ,Taylor Swift is a powerful person in her career ,music and she influences her fans to be polite and respect . Because of her some people might have voted in the election for kamala harris, I strongly oppose the kind of powerful people who makes people to follow their lead intentionally rather than sharing thoughts on that topic. As for me, I believe that a person who is not selfish and not influence someone directly is a powerful person.

    1. That's a very interesting take. What do you think power should be used for?

  • This one got me thinking, and what came up was MrBeast because he is a youtuber who is very famous and a millionaire who has a cycle which is making a video, upload it,get views to earn money, and put that money back into the video but he has helped a lot of poor or people in need and also given a lot of people opportunities to be capable of winning money. He has also helped with africa that needed water so he installed 100 wells across africa. And after doing that there was canceling MrBeast coming out for a while but he didn't care showing he has enough power to swipe that off his worry list.

  • I think an example of a powerful person whom I have seen in news is Bill Gates. Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He is the founder Microsoft with Paul Allen in 1975. He is actually a great, rich and powerful man. As of August 2024, Bill Gates was worth an estimated $159 billion, making him the fifth richest person in the world. He is using his wealth not only for himself but also for others. He is a great philanthropist who has donated about $79 billion. I think he is powerful and great. As he doesn't use his power and wealth for bad purposes but only for the welfare of people. He is a great man.

  • I believe that any person in the world could be powerful and famous. It's not a must to be rich and wealthy person to be famous and powerful. Many famous people grew up with limited financial resources and now they are powerful and famous.
For example, in my community, Mohamed Salah was raised in an ordinary family, but with his determination he became famous and known around the globe. he is a role model for a lot of people, I think he changes the history. He attracts attention to many important topics like women rights, the importance of education for all.
On the other hand, there are people who are famous because of their money and business. For example, Elon Musk, the world's richest man, is a powerful man, because of his money and business.
But I have a point of view, the key of real success is your determination and persistence. Money can help, but the real motivation is you.

  • I think that the most powerful person in the world is Vladimir Zelensky. He has a great power because he showed that he is the real leader of Ukraine when the war with Russia happened. He secured himself by using his partners form other countries and the media to provide the financial and military support for Ukraine. As a leader he shows how one man can inspire unity in the world, but of course the war itself remains and after is there are great consequences.

  • Most people believe that not all people are powerful. Despite what they say, all of the people in the world are strong besides powerful. If all people believe in their potentials, capabilities and thought that they are the best, the Earth will be filled with heroes. If all people helped each other when knowledge is needed, there will be love and kindness between them. If people did not bully or blame or insult each other, there will be no disrelish. If all people thought that money is the only thing that makes people strong and powerful, all the people will lose.

To be powerful, you must compete and not to give up when failing. Furthermore, you must believe in yourselves.

  • One of the most powerful humans right now is the American new president Donald Trump. Donald Trump is making huge changes right now.

He froze the funding for the educational scholarships in the American universities for the foreigner student. This could lead to many problems as genius people in poor countries depend on those free scholarships to learn because they don't have enough money and this could lead us to lose the experiences of those unique people.

Donald Trump also stopped funding to help his allies in war this could cause severe problems to those countries they could even be totally invaded. Ukraine was depending on America for help in war but when Trump came Ukrane is now in serious troubles with Russia.

The biggest change Trump made was about the electrical vehicles and petrol. Trump now is banning those vehicles and he is more focused on petrol and this could help the economy now not in the future and destroy the eco system.

All of those show Donald Trump's power and how he is making changes start from one person and in whole countries ending up in the whole eco system and he is literally changing the world.

  • I think that Nelson Mandela was a powerful man. He is currently a well-known role-model in the fight against oppresion and racial segregation. This Noble Prize winner, was vocal from as early as high school about his country's oppressive racial system which was also written in the law. The amount of valour this man showed to uphold the rights of every Black man in his country is truly something to appreciate. The revolutionising approach of using armed violence to fight his way in the racial system had made the whole world curious at that time. After several movements, he was convicted for terrorism. After 27 years in jail, he rose up high and stood for his country's presidential post. He became the President and bridged the gap between different races. One of the most astonishing way he did that was through sports. South Africa was also divided on the basis of sports. He persuaded international associations to host events in his country which would bring races closer to each other as they represented the same nation. The prowess of Nelson Mandela after leaving politics was also crucial. He was the magnet who attracted several international tournaments like 1995 Rugby World Cup, 2003 and 2007 ICC Cricket World Cups and the 2010 FIFA Worl Cup. The statement 'Don't give up something you aspire till your last breath' summarises the life of the great Nelson Mandela and his devotion to South Africa, his homeland.

  • One of the young and powerful people that I've seen in the news is Emma Chamberlain. She doesn't have a big corporation or traditional power, but her unique style and voice have made her a social media icon. With her YouTube videos and online presence, Emma has influenced millions, especially young people. She shows us that power can come from authenticity and being true to yourself. She doesn't fit the typical mold of a "powerful" person but her influence in undeniable. Emma's success highlights how social media can create a platform where anyone, no matter their background, can become powerful through creativity and genuine connection.

In today's world, power can come from being yourself, sharing ideas and reaching peoples in meaningful ways. It's no longer just about wealth and status, it's about creating change through our words, actions and connection we make. The real challenge is ensuring that this power is used in ways that benefit everyone, not just a few.

    1. I really like your thinking here.

Do you think there's a reason why certain voices are louder than others in the media?

      1. Hello Yeman @ KPMG thank you for replying to my comment.

In my opinion, I believe that yes, certain voices are definitely louder than others in media and there are several reasons for this:
1- Influence and Reach: People with established platforms, like celebrities, politicians or major influencers, naturally have a wider audience. Their voices carry further because they already have millions of followers.

2- Media and Algorithm Bias: Social media algorithms prioritize content that gets high engagement, meaning controversial, emotional or sensational posts are likely to spread. Traditional media also tends to focus on well-known figures, reinforcing their visibility.

3- Power and Resource: Those with financial backing, media connections or institutional support (like large companies or political groups) can amplify their voices through advertising, partnerships or PR strategies (Public Relations strategies).

This doesn't mean new or less prominent voices can't break through but it's often harder without the right tools or opportunities.

  • I think that the people who invented Google which are Larry Page and Sergey Brin are not just examples of powerful but also influential people. In America people use Google for everything and it has become a bare necessity of life as people are getting more and more curious each day about the world around them. It is no wonder that search engines such as Yahoo and Bing although not as popular have been invented. Google has also influenced big changes in the AI that we use today. For example companies such as the Mercedes-Benz Group and General Motors actually use Google's AI in their products. We also know without a doubt that Google has power. By creating new things and providing quality to their customers it is not surprising that they have so many users but with great power comes great responsibility. I know that you might be wondering what Google does with all this power? Well, they take care of the environment with it. Google and many other websites have claimed that it is planning to make power without any carbon dioxide which if you don't know is wonderful for the environment. Climate change has been a big problem in our world today so it is great that Google has decided to go eco-friendly and protect our Earth. In the end, there is not question that Google creators are both powerful and have influenced a lot of things in our world.

    1. Really well thought out!
Does google always use their power in a positive way?

  • I think that Mary Slessor is an example of powerful people. She was a Scottish Presbyterian missionary to Nigeria who promoted women's rights, protected children and stopped the killing of twins. She was very victorious as now, homes appreciate and welcome twins, women go to school etc. She protected native children, rescued and took care of abandoned babies. Her impact has really made a serious effect in Nigeria. She used her power greatly and I must say, there is a lot to learn from her.

    1. Interesting post! I had never heard of her before.

  • In my opinion I think that power isn't all about being rich or being a monarch, I think that a powerful person is when someone is able to inspire people and give them perseverance to keep following their dreams. I think that Martin Luther King Jr. is arguably one of the most powerful people in the 20th century as he changed the mindset of a whole generation about racial equality. He was inspired by Mahatma Gandi's none violent activism to lead the Civil Rights Movement, eventually ending institutional segregation across the country and picking up a Nobel Peace Prize and Presidential Medal of Freedom on the way.

  • Benjamin Netanyahu is the most powerful person currently. He is not only the mastermind behind the revenge of the October 7 attacks but he is the puppeteer the hundreds of thousands of people in the Gaza strip. During the Israel-Hamas conflict, while the United Nations and other international powerhouses were scratching their heads for the ceasefire call for over four to five months, Netanyahu was pushing for Palestine to release Israeli hostages. After countless huminatarian aids and re-establishment funds, the war seemed to have no possible end. But Netanyahu constantly pushed Palestine to release the hostages. After property worth billions was destroyed, Netanyahu finally agreed to sign the ceasefire. The conflict which occupied the headlines for nearly six months came to a halt with this man's signatre. He made millions of innocent people suffer, forced the spending of billions of dollars, and destroyed infrastructure of the past century. The control this man had on the war was incredible but concerning as well. He made the whole nation of Palestine beg mercy by attacking hospitals and blocking supply chains just for a few hostages. He never backed down until he got his request accepted by Palestine, burning money on its way. Though his ceasefire in the end, the permanent damage was done. This is an example of misusing power. No such leader should use military supremacy to harm any kind of people.

  • One of the powerful people I seen through news is Elon Musk. I saw him almost everyday on news when were the elections for president of USA 2024. I belive that Elon Musk used the power and influence he has to help Trump a little bit to win a few more votes than Trump would received without him in the campaign. He has also used his power to help Ukraine in the war against Russia. Example of young powerful people for me would be Greta Thunberg. She is a fighter against climate changes. Greta shows us that even without lots of money and support of influential people we can change some things. After she became popular the topic of climate change has become more popular. She encouraged people to speak out and protest against climate change. Of course, Elon Musk has more power than Greta Thunberg because he has more money and more followers then her. But, Greta Thunberg is a greta example how your word can be heard and change things even if you don't have a lot of money and power at the time.

  • If there’s a powerful person I see all the time, it’s Donald Trump. Before and after he became the 47th president, he wielded his power and influence to disrupt democracy—via mass executive orders and hateful rhetoric and misinformation

  • Power around the world is nowadays not share equally. Countries such as USA and China have more influencie because they have a stronger economy while poorer nations have less control over the Earth. But, why money gives them power? There are several reasons: Wealth allows countries to build strong military forces and makes them easier to have powerful alliances. Also makes an easy acces for people to a good education, connectiones and more opportunities. So, money is a tool to gain power such as Musk, which is not a country but he is the richest person in the world and he has more influence than us. He also owns one of the most important social media in where he has lots of followers who read his opinions.

  • An example of a powerful person is Malala Yousafzai. Malala is a Pakistani activist, known for her defense for girls' education and rights. She gained international recognition after surviving an assassination attempt by the Taliban from around 2010 and 2012. Throughout her middle school years, Malala and her friends and family were threatened to lose the right of education because the Taliban found girls' education as a threat. In addition, Malala had to constantly live in fear, facing terrorism and also having to worry about whether her school would be destroyed along with the others that the Taliban were destroying to ensure that girls do not receive proper education. Not only that, Malala was said to have to move from her home and had to have curfews, losing the privilege to play outside with her brother and friends and living in constant worry about what the Taliban would do next. Furthermore, the worry and fear of hers led to an extraordinary finding. Malala began giving speeches and standing up for education along with her classmates, that moment was when she found her true interest in politics and standing up for girls education and rights. As Malala began gaining confidence to speak out against the Taliban, she began striving and being rewarded awards, one of the awards even being named after her. Malala has played a major role in girls' education and rights, she has been brave enough to speak up about what she believed was right without worrying about the consequences as long as they were for the better.

  • Elon Musk is a VERY powerful man having influence on all platforms like instagram, Facebook, epescially twitter because he is now the owner of twitter/X.He also has businesses like SpaceX and Tesla.(He use to own PayPal but got fired shortly after he got chief executive). He's working and discussing plans with Donald Trump from social media, pictures, and such. Not to mention he's richest man in the world. When they associate power they say political, riches and values and also social media wise.Elon Musk has all of these powers including the fact that he is liked among some people. He has so much power yet that can be very dangerous.

    1. Thank you for your comment, I found it very interesting. Could you say a bit more about why you think so much power can be very dangerous? Do you think there should be some way to limit power and influence?

      1. Thank you for looking at my comment about this
<3!!!And this much power can be dangerous because he may can influence the whole world through social media to think and feel one way inspiring young, old, and middle aged people into a negative way of the thinking process. And also this much power can also possibly destroy the world, I mean a lot of influence, he may convince Trump to send out an attack financially, verbally, or lead to war.So this is a MAJOR problem. Also we definitely need to limit his power and influence like how they should limit his businesses and how many times he post on social media. They could also limit his access into the political world to make it more difficult to have this much influence. There are some ways this can be limited and restricted for good measures and how if they don't limit his access to these different powered worlds this can possibly lead to major conflict.<3

  • In my social studies class currently, we are reading about a young girl by the name of Malala Yousafzai at the start of class everyday. So far in the book, Malala is a young girl who grew up in Pakistan, and is known by many news sources around the world for being an activist and fighting for the education of girls. I think she is a very prime example of a powerful person because although she was young, she was not afraid to speak up against the Taliban and fight for what she believed was right. Although she was unfortunately shot in 2012, that didn't stop her legacy from growing. After that, she became a symbol for women's education. Not only that, but she was one of the youngest people to ever achieve a Nobel Prize. I think that after all she has done for not just women in Pakistan, but women everywhere, she deserves to be considered a powerful and influential person.

  • A powerful person is someone with the ability to influence or control events, resources and people that is people will follow that person because of his or her influence. Powerful people can be found in different sheres of life, in politics, education, healthcare, media, technology, religion etc. Examples of powerful people in politics are law makers like senators, governors, presidents etc. I will like to talk about a senator in my state Plateau State, Senator Simon Mwadkwon. His people love him because he is a man of his word, he leads his people well, he is concerned about his people and his consistituency. He uses his money to help the poor, the needy by providing food and employment.

    1. Good to read about someone that I had never heard of before.

  • In my opinion the most powerful women was Rosa Parks . Rosa Parks was an American civil rights activist who did not to give up her seat on a bus to a white person in 1955. Back then black people were considered as inferior to white people. They were always supposed to give up the best places or seats in any public place/transport to white people. One day as Rosa boarded the bus and sat on her seat, the became crowded. The driver asked few black people to give up there seats including rosa. When she did not do that, the driver got Rosa arrested. Still she did not stop criticizing discrimination of USA. Leading to civil right movement and several protests. Even though some people still continue to discriminate on the basis of race. It is now completely prohibited by law. This act of Rosa changed the lives of numerous black people living in the US. That is why Rosa Parks is the most powerful women in my point of view.
    THANK YOU !

  • One powerful person I want to talk about is Aliko Dangote, a Nigerian, a businessman and a powerful figure in Africa. He is the founder of the Dangote Group, he is wealthy and controls a great portion of the wealth in Africa. His involved in different businesses including cement, flour, sugar and even oil refinning. He is close to different world leaders and is also involved in discussions on economics and political matters. Aliko Danogote is also a philanthropist and has a foundation which operates in different sectors including healthcare, education and disaster management. His influence has greatly impacted many lives in Africa.

  • where do i begin with the tangerine donald trump. he just yaps on about things nobody cares about or asked for even if he did start of with something important and also why would people vote for him again when he did such a bad job last time and he is racist, homophobic and does acts of ableism. it is dangerous for him to be in power. also he literally admitted to rigging the votes after he won the election kamala harris deserved to win she was a good person but he still won as a horrible disgusting person.

    1. This is a powerful response and clearly shows your point of view. If you want other people to be persuaded by your opinion, try not to make an ad hominem argument - this is when you attack the person. Instead, focus on why you think Trump did badly last time, and what evidence you have to support your points. That will make a stronger argument!

    2. I agree because... this is so smart and sucha strong independent thought about donald trump! keep it up!

    3. I disagree because Donald Trump has made America a great again and is not a tangerine as this creates an unfair advantage in the world of the mighty eagle. I believe that we will win , I believe that we will win , I believe that we will win. Cmon America.

    4. I agree with you so much! Donald trump in my opinion is a bad person, he has 34 convicted felonies and he's STILL allowed to be Americas president. He is discriminatory towards people who aren't straight white men and who don't believe in his own political views. He has caused so much unneeded casualties its crazy! Like when Joe Biden won the election, he demanded a recount and even said someone rigged the votes. I fear if you can't accept defeat, being president may not be the best route for you.. He is overall so horrible and I feel so bad for Kamala Harris! :(

  • Powerful people can control weak people. That is the concept of life. Some rich people are good, and the others are bad. It is the rule of life. For example, some people help the economy and became rich and continued to be rich and help the economy mentally and financially.

  • I think Barack Obama was a powerful person who used his power to make people's lives, especially in the U.S., much better. He managed to stabilize the economy in 2009 in the U.S., after the 2008 financial crisis, he also did a healthcare reform so more Americans would have health insurance. This reform helped millions of Americans.
He also signed the the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement, which would reduce the carbon emissions and limit the global warming. Obama encouraged clean energy. In addition, he had a big impact on foreign policies. He restored diplomatic relations with Cuba, he ended the war in Ira

  • Elon musk is a very rich man who seems to be influential to the people currently. In my opinion, I don't think that's why he should be recognized. Every time I see something about him, he's getting attention for the wrong reasons. Someone I think should be getting attention, and who is definitely powerful, is Isra Hirsi. I have recently learned about her, and she is amazing to me. shes a younger American environmentalist, and the daughter of Ilhan Omar. She is 21 currently, but was around 17 when she joined forms of environmental politics. I think she is a good example of someone who should hold more power, unlike Musk. Shes younger and relatable to people who cant get into politics, and shes taking action with her political role instead of making people upset.

  • One of the most obvious examples of powerful individuals is Elon Musk. I personally view him as a "disruptor" of sorts. His ventures span multiple industries, from electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy to space exploration, social media and neural technology.

These ventures have helped him accumulate a 400 billion Dollar fortune (consistently ranked among the world's richest individuals) but his net worth is not the only aspect that derives his power. In fact, his power comes from his ability to shape markets, sway public opinion and redefine technological boundaries. Some examples would be how Musk accelerated the global shift to use EVs, reduced rocket launch costs by 90% with reusable rockets such as Falcon 9 and changed the social media dynamics by proclaiming X as a free speech hub.

However, Musk seems disconnected from reality as we know it. His policies are very impulsive (e.g. suddenly changing Twitter policies) and his more "relaxed" moderation of X has enable conspiracies and hate speech. Musk's workers at Tesla factories aren't even paid that well, it's the investors, executives and Musk himself who get most of the money. In short, Musk is a disruptor, an agent of chaos who can do both good and bad.

  • An example of a powerful person is Donald John Trump he is the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America, he was born in June 14th 1946 in New York. Following his inauguration in January 20th 2025, Trump became only the second president to serve non-consecutive terms. Donald Trump was very influential to his people, his country and the world at large, whereby he passed to law that there are only two genders in the world, a male and a female. He also said he is going to grow domestic energy production and crack down on the mexican border and end diversity, equity and include programs within the federal government.Donald Trump helped in a way that everyone trusted him to make a change so that his country and the world at large will be a better place.

    1. Do you think the impact of Donald Trump's policies is universally seen as positive, or are there differing opinions on his approach to issues like diversity, and immigration?

      1. There are definitely differing opinions on Donald Trump's policies, particularly when it comes to issues about diversity and immigration first let us start with immigration.
        Immigration
On immigration, Trump's policies were controversial it brought a lot of disagreement among people . He implemented a measure to separate migrant families at the U.S. Mexico border, he even attempts to build a border wall to stop people from migrating in and out of the country.
Diversity On diversity his rhetoric and policies related to race, gender inequality, contributed to increased divisions and tensions and opposition to some diversity initiatives in government and education were by many as discriminatory and exclusionary.

  • An individual who impresses me the most is Angelina Jolie. Although she is a well-known and successful actress, debuting mainly in action movies, she takes interest in doing humanitarian work. Her work with the UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) spans 20 years, during which she tirelessly advocated for the rights and safety of displaced people, visited refugee camps in countries bordering Syria, including Lebanon, and Turkey to assist those who were affected by the Syrian Civil War.
Jolie shows her sympathy and empathy, carrying an impact world-wide, especially to children. Thousands of them were trying to seek freedom, yet no one had a thought of reaching out a helping hand. Seeing those innocent eyes might have made her heart feel a strong compassion towards them. In the end, she adopted international kids while also raising her biological children, creating an unbreakable bond, like her own family.
Other than that, Jolie is brave enough to speak up about women's rights regarding issues of health and sexual violence in conflict zones. her speeches at the UN, G20 women's summit, also many more humanitarian events tell us her commitment to amplify women's voices to fight for their rights, gender discrimination, and bring equality.

I think she's an influence to us all, as we are in a part of a society where there are many good or bad things happening around. But we have to set an example which is to follow the positive works she has done. Imagine the amount of sacrifice Jolie has to face while doing so.

  • When I watched the video i immediately thought of people like Nelson Mandela, his exploits in the political space had so much impact, he was also a civil rights leader and his influence was so massively felt that hi government had him imprisoned for 27 years, and in the year 1994 he became South Africa's first black president, and with his power as both a civil rights leader and the president he united all races in South Africa anfd because of him look just at how much equality he brought to his country . He died in 2013 but I feel we have learnt alot from his example and we will continue to learn from it

  • I will be talking about Aliko Dangote. He was born in Kano to a wealthy Hausa family. He is the great-grandson of Alhassan Dantata the richest person in Africa. Aliko Dangote is the leader of the Dangote group. Dangote is the richest person in Africa and the richest black man in the world. He has surpassed counterpart Johann Rupert(a South African billionaire business man). Dangote has foundations that has helped children in school to complete their education, he has constructed roads in communities to aid transportation in some rural areas in Nigeria, he is not involved in Nigerian politics, but has a great influence because of his philanthropy.

    1. Thanks for sharing. Can you provide a source for your information?

  • Well, I think that Bassem Youssef is a powerful person who is a standup comedian got interviewed by Piers Morgan and talked about the conflict between Israel and Palestine and in this interview he used power of word and thought and thought in a clever way as he wanted many people to watch him so he appeared in a popular show .

Bassem started to influence the public opinion of the western countries and let many people notice what is going on and the episode accomplished the highest viewing rate which is showing how his powerful words are making huge changes in the whole world.

  • A powerful person that I personally didn´t see in the news but was in the news is Martin Luther King JR. He was very powerful person due to the things he did while he was alive. With his power he did amazing things for the U.S., he advocate for equality, which means that he fought for everyone to have equal rights and for people of color to be treated as good as white people were at that time. He only wanted for everyone to be treated fairly, he did many things like go and give speeches, he protested with people of color even though he go arrested for that, but that didn't make him give up. While fighting he made it possible, he made everyone have equal rights. He gave his famous speech, "I Have a Dream" which called for equality and freedom. This was an important moment for the civil right movement. I think that he used his powers in a very considerate way that made him change the U.S. in those years.

  • From my point of view, two of the most influential people in the modern history of my country are Adolfo Suárez and Juan Carlos I (king of Spain). Even though the former king's public image is not very good nowadays, his actions were very important to establish modern Spain as we know it. Spain had been a dictatorship for almost forty years, all lead by Francisco Franco. When Franco died from a natural death, Spain was economically and socially destabilized, but many thought that Franco's regime would continue to live, in this case lead by one of the Movement's politicians (like Adolfo Suárez) or the prince Juan Carlos who was Franco's successor. However, in a turn of events, Adolfo Suárez (an ex-member of the dictatorship) along with the king, decided that the country demanded change. Suárez was appointed president and did unexpected things. He re-united with the people that had been persecuted by the past regime and with them (he would legalize lots of parties like the communist one), a new constitution for all spanish people was written (which was later approved by almost all spaniards) marking the start of a new democratic era for the country. The important thing about this story, is that Suárez and Juan Carlos had the power to continue with a regime that benefited both of them even though the people wanted another thing. Nevertheless, they decided to use their power for what the country needed and instead made changes (mostly for good and some for bad) that still affects us up to this day. That is why power can be a good thing if it is in the hands of the right person.

  • I think that one powerful person in the news is Jeff Bezos. As the founder of Amazon, he transformed the global market and online shopping. His influence on technology and business is significant. Many people recognize his impact and contributions. In conclusion Bezos' leadership has shaped the way shop and costume goods.

  • When I think of someone using their power for good, Leonardo Dicaprio is the first person that comes to mind. Apart from being rich, talented, and well-known actor, he is also a strong voice for protecting the environment. He has used his fame and influence to raise awareness on climate change, deforestation, and wildlife extinction. Since 1998, his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) has donated over $100 milion for the protection of animals, forests, oceans and fighting climate change. In 2014, he became the United Nations Messenger of Peace for climate change, delivering an important and powerful speech at the UN Climate Summit, urging leaders to act. Dicaprio also raises awareness through his movies like Before the Flood (2016) and Ice on Fire (2019). In 2021, he starred in Don't Look Up, a film that uses humor to show how people ignore serious issues like climate change. He also funds the Amazon Forest Fund and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
He has demonstrated how one person can make a difference in the climate. His commitment is truly admirable. His work inspires others to act, proving that celebrities can make huge difference in the world.

  • For me a powerful person is Selena Williams who was a tennis player. She inspired a lot of people and though she doesn't play anymore she still inspires a lot of people. I think she is a very powerful person. If she isn't inspiring people with sports, she's inspiring them through culture and in the community. Despite the fact that she isn't playing tennis anymore, she didn't allow that to pull her down she started a business and is supporting her family. She has inspired a lot of people to start playing tennis and she has inspired me that I should never give up. She uses her power for good and is a hero.

  • One of the most powerful people I know is Mary Slessor who stopped the killing of twins in Nigeria. Just like Henry Tricks said being powerful or being on top means you have the ability to influence people which she did. You must not be the most powerful person Because you have money, being powerful can start from you being able to influence people positively not negatively. some one that has power can be able to do a lot of things whether good or bad depending on the position that you are.

  • I agree because EIONMUSK is the most richest person on earth.

  • One of the richest and most common man that I know is Elon Musk, who have been said to be owner of sever company and one of them is a place were he makes self driving cars called Tesal. He is also said to have an app called X that was formerly know as twitter.

  • Donald Trump is arguably the most powerful person on the planet. Even though Trump didn't hold any political office before assuming the mantle of commander in chief, he knows how to get a firm chokehold on the media to bolster his fame.

Before he even tried to run for office, he was an extremely famous media personality in the 80's and 90's. Basically, Trump appeals to people's ideal of what THEY would do if they were rich. They would buy fancy suits, fly in private planes, and hang out with supermodels (which is what Trump exactly does). Trump's ENTIRE persona was and is carefully designed to be the most captivating persona there is. He understands that 'all publicity is good publicity,' and THIS is what Trump strives off of.

Another reason why he is liked by so many people is that he isn't your usual politician. Most politicians are old and dull, they always say the most boring speeches and never stray away from the herd, so to speak. Trump, on the other hand, is the exact OPPOSITE of the stereotypical 'boring' politician. He's the textbook example of a disruptor, and that's what a lot of people like about him.

However, it seems like Trump has been radically changing U.S. politics, and its not for the better. His win in both the 2016 election and the 2024 election marks a turning point of U.S. politics as a whole. He surrounds himself with the people who enable rather than check his impulses. He's also been slowly but surely integrating show biz with politics, erasing the line between his antics and his laws.

    TL;DR, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  • according to me powerful people is not the one who has political or financial power. a powerful person is the one who has conifdence in themselves and makes others bring out their confidence too. an example for a powerful person is Muniba mazari. she is a 37 year old pakistani activist who lost her ability to walk in a major accident. becuse of her inability her husband divorced her. but this lady amidst all the challenges that life has thrown at her , she beleived in herself and today she is a succesful person and also had become the national ambassdor UN women pakistan. she ia a great example for specially challenged people to have confidence. she and her powerful speech are my greatest insipartions.

  • Although they may not be famous activists, famous people, wealthy, or politicians, some really powerful people I've seen in the news are the brave hispanic protesters. Immigrants in my state, like many others, are in danger of being deported. However, many people chose to use this as an opportunity to speak out. Like Henry Tricks said, "power is the ability to use your position to influence people", although it is not a high political position, the position these immigrants were thrown in has caused many people to come together as a community and try to influence our unjust government. Today, there was the 3rd march of this week, my mom and I stopped by to support our community and it is nothing short of an exaggeration when I say that I was brought to tears. Maybe it was the bias of my Latino descent, maybe it was their unity in peaceful dancing and marching or maybe it was their signs that said "Gracias Jovenes por GRITAR lo que tus padres y yo callamos por miedo"---"Thank you young people for shouting what your parents and I kept silent out of fear" and "I'm only 10, I need my parents" but I was influenced and felt an even deeper sympathy than I ever did before. I know for a fact, that I am not the only one influenced, people of all cultures and ethnicities stopped by these protests to help out, not just hispanics. Their great leadership and peaceful protesting has warmed the hearts of many and I hope we can reach the government too. Although some of us aren't the greatest people, that doesn't mean you should discriminate against us all, we're not criminals.

  • J.K. Rowling is one of the greatest and biggest entities I believe has influenced people. Now, she is a wealthy being. However, she has fostered profound imaginative skills in young minds through the HARRY POTTER series. She has influenced and inspired people to think out of the box. In a positive sense, she has been a great influencer, particularly for Gen-Z and Gen-X. In addition, she has made a great bequest for the Harry Potter series which is still in trend.

  • my opinion i think that henry Trick is an example of a powerful person not only him but other people like Elon musk a very rich and powerful south African a business man and a political figure since January 2025. they are different types powers given to people like political power. An example of that have people is Elo musk he severs as an administrator of the department of government and he was born in June 1971he is very politically sound.

  • I'm not sure about this because... every person has the mindset to improve and become someone academically and politically strong one way or the other some people say Elon musk is successful he has made it life but it not through he stii have a lot of world problem to solve

  • i think president Donald Trunp is a very powerful person i've seen in the news and he has done many good things in the lives of the citizens of the united states .for him to be elected again by the citizens means he is a very good person and i think his influence on tthe nation and the citizens is a good impact .

    1. Thanks for your comment, I was interested to hear your thoughts. I'm not sure it always follows that someone who is popular, the winner of an election, is necessarily good. Can you give some concrete examples of good things he has done?

  • Their are many rich and powerfully people in the world, for example Elon musk, as we all know Elon musk is one of the richest men in the world.
He has different kinds of ways that he gets his money, one of the ways are through X which was known as Twitter and Tesla. The way I have seen him exercise his power is when he made provisions for self driving cars.
I really think that what he did was very helpful to the world it reduces stress.

  • I want to go with Elon musk .Not because of his net worth, his wealth or his companies but because of his personality. According to many interviews and sources I observed that musk is not one of the people who give up. He is one of those who gives himself freedom to think out of the box.Instead of following ordinary things or rules he thinks out of the box which differentiates him. As he was successful to bring back his space rocket to earth it’s because he thought differently. There is no such Physics rule to prove this result but he said why can’t we discover one ?why to only rely on our old physics laws ? This thinking is called first principles thinking where we need to question ourselves and break down the problems to their fundamental components and not exaggerate them. For example if we how a pen in our hand and put the hand up in the air for 1 min then solve it so it won’t pain much but if we do the same thing for 1 hour it will definitely damage our hands . That’s why we should not exaggerate a problem we should solve it.So basically I think Elon Musk is powerful by mind and is really mentally strong and believes in solving problem as explained in above example.

  • A powerful, prominent personality that I have often seen in news was Late. Ratan Tata. A visionary that truly transformed India with his unique ideas and innovation that we all can proudly look upto. Born and bought up in India , he was a perfect example of power with humbleness and influence with gratitude, despite being one of the richest and most influential person in India , he never flaunted his riches rather always took part in charity . He is the perfect example of ethically doing business while returning back to what society gave him as helping the underprivileged to dream about educated life and nurturing the lives of common man in India. He is a personality that I truly admire and appreciate him for his contributions to the country.

    1. Thank you for sharing!

  • "Power"
A very strong word, isn't it?
As journalist Henry Tricks stated in the video that power is what can have an influence on someone; totally agreed!
Power is what you may be influenced with, or you may influence other with it. It depends on us, whether the influence is good or bad!
Let us talk about bill Gates today, he has been a great leader in global health philanthropy. The Gates Foundation has helped in research, awareness and a lot more.
    1. Bill Gates has funded research into diseases like malaria and AIDS
    2. His foundation has helped in development of vaccines
    3. He has helped in creating awareness about global health issues
knowing about global health issues is a must, who knows what we may face. And if Gates is doing something in favor of awareness of global health issues then it can be clearly stated as the GOOD INFLUENCE OF POWER
Gates has funded research into a drug that could prevent tuberculosis from returning, funded research on screening methods for neglected diseases has also been promoted by the foundation!
This is a good use of power!
    Some people use their powers in a bad way, influencing people is a negative path {for example Assad}
yes! the way Assad used his power was the bad influence which causes negativeness in Syria.

IT IS OUR CHOICE TO RECOGNIZE THE INFLUNCE OF POWER, EITHER GOOD OR BAD! IT IS UP TO US!

    thank you

  • Elon Musk has over £400 billion and owns social media, websites and other Rich companies, such as Tesla. More than 200 million followers, follow him on X . Elon Musk’s Close relationship with Donald Trump has given in more power in the world. Donald Trump announced in one of his speeches, how Elon Musk was helping an area in poverty that had no power. Recently joined by Donald Trump has Make your own mask, the government adviser. This means he is more powerful than ever is this a good or bad thing?

  • One powerful person I have seen in the news is Mr. Narendra Modi , the prime minister of India . As the leader of the world's largest democracy , his decisions impact millions of people in India and around the world . His power comes from his ability to make laws , lead the government and influence international relations. One example of how he used his power was when he launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) to improve sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness across India . This campaign led to the construction of millions of toilets and increased awareness about cleanliness. He has also played a major role in strengthening India's economy and technological growth. I think his power is significant because his decisions shape the future of a vast population . While many people support his decisions and policies , others criticize certain decisions , showing that power always comes with responsibility. It is important for leaders to use their power for the welfare of the people and the development of the nation.

  • I think a powerful person who has brought change in the world is Nelson Mandela.Nelson Mandela: A South African civil rights leader who fought apartheid and became the country's first Black president .Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison for opposing South Africa's apartheid system. He faced harsh conditions meant to break his resolve, but he refused to give up his efforts to achieve equality for all people. His determination to fight against injustice, his refusal to renounce his principles and values, and his unfailing courage to make difficult decisions and to speak the truth—a valuable lesson for the contemporary world. He was powerful but changed the world.

  • Ratan Tata was one of the most powerful and popular personality of India. He was the chairman and former of Tata group. He was very generous and was a visionary leader. He contributed a lot to Indian industry and economy. He established Tata group at global level . In addition he started successfull companies like
Tata motors, Tata consultancy sevices and Titan Industries. He also got many awards like Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan . In this way he tried to bring development in country and made a place in everyone's heart.

  • I think that Rosa Parks is a powerful leader because at the time black people had give up there seats to white people on the bus because of there skin colour ,they couldn’t drink from the same water as the white people , couldn’t go to the library together and they couldn’t be in the same class together but one day Rosa Parks stood up for black people and refused to give up her seat to a white man and that’s why people remember her after all these years

  • Oprah Winfrey, is someone who i believe has contributed a lot to welfare and humanity. I've always admired her efforts and handouts to various fields like literacy for women and children, racism, mental health, poverty, etc. I believe she's powerful and influential enough to bring a positive in the world! She has donated over 400 million $ to charity and other oraganizations that help needy people, especially women and children. She is also the founder of "Oprah Winfrey leadership academy for girls" in africa and provided aid for global disaster relief efforts. Her "oprah's angel network" helped in raising over 80 million $ for charitable projects worldwide!! Oprah remains a powerful figure due to her zeal for literacy, women upliftment, philanthropy and helping people in every approach

  • Some powerful people made a big change back then and that was needed. For an example, I read about Malala Yousafzai in class who was a girl/woman that fought for girls' education. She even risked her self getting injured during what she was doing. This could result in her being in jail or even death. After all people agreed to let girls be educated, which was good. This made a really big change, now most girls around the world could go to school. In conclusion we may need a bit more of these kinds of people.

  • I think Keir Starmer is a powerful person because he our Prime Minister, he’s in charge of our country which means he’s got lots of power he can decide what happens in our country and what the the rules should be. Although he’s Prime Minister he’s also a quite fair one.

  • I learnt today that Elon musk is a very powerful man because he owns lots of companies and has lots of money. His power has influenced people in political areas as well as Social media platforms. He has influenced elections and decided on who will rule other countries. I don't think this is right because the election should be fair and for those in that country only. Mr musk also owns X which is a social media site where he influences many people in everyday problems. He donated some money to Ukraine and is now saying that they should give up and quit the war letting Russia win. Elon musk is also able to decide when rocket launches are held. I personally don't think anyone should have more power than others because we are all ordinary people with our own unique opinions so I think we should have the king and prime minister but celebrities should not have more power than us and others.

  • I think that David Attenborough is a powerful figure in society because he was a pioneer in helping humans learn more about nature and the world around us which revolutionised how we see nature as human beings in which has helped us deal with climate change better than we would have if he didn't exist. He is also the only person to be knighted twice and that is something anyone can be proud of as it is a great honour to be knighted and means you have changed a county's future for the better.

  • One powerful person I have seen on the news recently is the U.S. president, Donald Trump. He has gotten most of his power from his political status as the U.S. leader, and the money he has collected over the years. But he uses this power to put import taxes on places such as china, and canada that gives the U.S. different types of goods such as electricity, cars, toys, and lots more. In my opinion this way of using your power is not the most ideal way, as these places give the U.S. lots of goods. So due to Mr Trump's taxes on these places they may decide to take away the goods that they are giving to the united states.

  • Professor Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate from Bangladesh, is a remarkable example of someone who used their influence for the betterment of society. As the founder of Grameen Bank, he pioneered the concept of microfinance and microcredit, providing small loans to impoverished peoples, especially women, to help them start businesses and break free from the cycle of poverty.
In recent news, he has faced legal and political challenges in Bangladesh, raising concerns about his treatment. Some powerful figures have seemingly used their authority to target him, which has sparked international outcry, with world leaders and activists urging for fair treatment.
Yunus’s work exemplifies how power can create positive, transformative change when used ethically. However, his situation also illustrates how power can be misused to suppress dissent or diminish contributions. I think it’s a stark reminder of how critical it is to hold powerful people accountable for their actions and to support those who genuinely work to uplift others.

  • Elon Musk used his power and influence to help Donald Trump win the US election. Donald Trump also used his influence to reach people during his campaign

    1. Can you give an example of how they both used their power, and how do you feel about this?

  • I think that Bill Gates is one of the world's most powerful people due to dedicating his life to helping others. He also gives a lot of the money he earns to charity, giving away around $60 Billion so far and has promised to give away most of his wealth. He also founded microsoft, and has the goal of getting one of his computers on every person's desk. His vision, passion for learning and commitment to helping others makes him an excellent role model for children. I think that he is a good representation of power as he has achieved most of his power by helping others and his intelligence and skill has allowed him to do this.

  • For me, the figure thats comes up to my mind when you talk about power is Ibu R.A. Kartini. She is a national hero, grew up in Jepara city, Central Java. She was a highborn, when Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch. At that time, you could say she was privileged. As a woman, she had access to the proper Education world, other women did not. She saw her power as a opportunity to fight for women. She didn't stay silent as a highborn, she started to fight back, to change the mindset of that women are supposed to stay at home, marry at such a young age, the mindset of woman are powerless compared to men. She knew that if women was given the proper education, we would not be powerless. So, she started by teaching kids around her, it started in her living space. As the word spread, people started to judge her but she didn't stop. She kept teaching others and more people started to come, start come to realization that women are not powerless. With her dedication and effort, she suceeded in building a school called "RA Sekolah Kartini" in 1913, to continue the growth of women. She is the reason, women in Indonesia now can be given proper education, work, and chase their dreams, and that is what i call a powerfull figure.

  • In my perspective, power is the ability to bring great changes that impact a large group of people. It depends on the wielder how to use it. In order to strengthen my view, let us take examples of Adolf Hitler and Albert Einstein. Hitler used his power with revenge in his mind ( according to him: the wrongs of WW1 ) which caused widespread destruction, misery and death pan Europe. While Einstein used his power and fame to spread the message of peace throughout the Globe.

  • Hello typical talkers!
Now I will let you know about purple and power people. In the first I will talk about perfect people, the person is someone who possesses significant ability to control or influence people and events. This party can make a lot of things can manifest in various forms, it including 1-Authority 2-strength. Now I will talk about for power people and what is meaning of power people. Power people likely refers to individuals process in influence. We have characteristics of power people 1- influence: they
can shape opinions 2-Authorite: often hold leader ship position or like have a lot of kids more.
Thank you for reading my comment!

  • Elon musk: CEO of Tesla and SpaceX,owner of X (formerly Twitter). World's wealthiest person with a net worth around $426 billion. He is a very powerful person with $426 billion dollars and he is the presidents adviser with Donald trump.

  • I think that Elon Musk is a great person and uses his money for good things and help others, also he recently created a supporter lottery. He also announced that he would give away $1 million each day to a random person living in a swing state, if they signed a petition. And he worked hard for he's success. Those were the few things that happened recently.

  • I think Elon Musk is power full is he owns Tesla ,X and SpaceX and has all three values of political staus as he's the President Advisor of (Donald Trump)also he as money which he inherited from his family by his dad being a pilot engineer and sailor, his mum being a model and dietitian which pay alot of money. He showed his power by buying twitter which is now X and paid 44 billion dollars although he made hateful words more contiverslal and is happening alot now. Also he has an estamated net worth of 400 billion and has more than 200 million followers. Altough there family started in South Africa there very rich now . Now Elon Musk has a child it'll be a great influence to his son about how to earn money since he is now the richest person in history. And probably his son will inherit his money which will make his son the Richest of all . Although he is a good person he stoped giving information and communication to Ukrainians which made them very annoyed probably .He showed power by giving 1 million pounds to swing states if they vote for Trump I don't thing It's fair although Trump already won Camala supose to have a fair chance of winning. Also Elon Musk showed his power by unambigously giving support to the Afd Party which means Alternative for Germany .

  • Power means that a person can influence people by using his position. From past the people which are having great power are high visionaries and usually are businessman or a world leader .
One of the powerful person which can be seen in headlines since a decade is Vladimir Putin the President of the mighty Russia. He is operating the country since 24 years and winning election for 5 times . He used his power as being leader one of the major super power in the world. There are many examples in which he showed his power to the world like the Russia- ukraine war , opposing NATO or making massive changes in the constitution of the country which were being followed from the time of USSR. Such decisions affecting the whole world can change the future of the planet also so he a very powerful leader in my opinion .

  • Several people have power in their hands in all over world . The one who uses the power in the correct way becomes a perfect leader and influencer .
In my eyes the prime minister of India MR. Narendra Modi ji is one such man who has used his powers in a perfect way to transform india to a completely new way.

Narendra Modi ji as the prime minister of India has brought some authorities to bring transformative change in economy , international diplomacy, growth and in governance. His journey is truly inspiring as he is a self made man who was once a tea seller but now governs a country that too in a good way.
I believe India has showed drastically improvement in most of the sectors after his governance.
He has done endless work for the country.few of them include infrastructural development , improved sanitation, promoting make in India and digital India that accelerating economic development.
In his governance the indian military has also shown fast growth .In his tenure the foreign relations of India are also becoming better which is good for everyone.

I think he is the one too whom the credit should be given to, as he plays a crucial role in modernising India while maintaining its cultural identity and increasing its global influence.

He is a man who uses his power perfectly . I agree their are some mistakes too but the pros out do them clearly.

  • Elon musk is a very wealthy man who has great amounts of money I do not understand why he doesn’t use any of his money to donate to charity as it won’t even make a dent in his money however he is using his money for teslas and cyber truck

  • An example of a powerful person Is king Charles he is the current king of England and has a lot of power over
England because he is like a president but royalty he controls the country and how things work.

Another example is Nelson Mandela he was once the president of south Africa he played a big role in the civil rights and was a very important person.

A powerful celebrity is Charlie D'Amelio she is a famous Tiktoker who has made an big impact on the famous app Tik'Tok she also has hosted the Nicklodeon kids choice award and has currently over 155 million followers she has made an impact on the social media world.

  • Elon Musk has lots of money and power however, he doesn't use it for the greater good. He could give some of his money to charity making a massive change to many people's lives but he didn't. There are many celebrities such as Kylie Jenner who donated money to many dangerous events like the california fire.

  • Powerful people I've seen in the news have been Trump and Elon Musk. I understand that they are powerful because they are rich, and it's upsetting to me as someone who lives in the United States that they have so much power simply due to this fact. Recently, I've seen Elon Musk and Trump get rid of USAID very selfishly for the fact it was "run by lunatics." Reading this in the Forbes article "USAID Controversy Live Updates: Marco Rubio Suggests Some Parts Will ‘Reorganize’—Rest ‘May Be Abolished," I think that the power they hold is unfair and not in proper hands as they are acting without recognizing any position that isn't their own.

  • I think that everyone can be powerful because no matter how old they are, if they’re big or small, we all can have power. There is something special inside of us that helps to gain power or to lose power. It’s each to our own destiny but some don’t want power so they choose to live a little, happy life. However, it’s clear that Elon Musk does want to have power because he has used this special thing inside of him to get there. But actually, if anyone really wants power then they will get it if they keep feeling their determination they will end up with the crown of power. So we know that anyone can have power but do we know how we get it? Yes, the little thing inside of us. But what is inside of us? Our hearts. We can use our hearts to get where we want or need to be because our hearts will make us happy. And if we want power then our hearts will help us get there. Therefore, my answer to who has power is everyone. Everyone has power inside them, big or little, we only need to discover it.

  • I think that Greta Thumberg is a relevant example of powerful people. Thanks to her speeches, her charism, and her bravoure, and her knowledge, she succeeded to change things in the world by underlining the emergency of the global warming.

  • I believe the most powerful woman is Sudha Murti. She was given birth when girl education was termed as a 'hoax' and 'wastage of money'. She studied under the flickering lights at midnight to attain knowledge of English. When people were not sending girls to school, she had her eyes set on one goal which was to study English along with engineering, and inspire the millions of young girls to pursue education. After nights of studying, she managed to became the first woman engineer of India. She was a woman with courage, she managed to give her spouse $15K dollars to establish his company. She was an ambitious reader, taking the teachings from the best of philosophers to help her husband take their business to a $1B dollar venture. She inspired women to take on the society, and pursue fiels of their own. She symbolised that a journey to a million miles starts with a step. She cut luxurious products out of her life, by not buying clothes for 24 years, and invested that money in bringing smiles to the face of millions of poor children. She opened schools with fees of $10 per annum to encourage lower-class families to adopt education. She has written countless books for children. These books are one of my favourites, they go by 'Three thousand stitches', 'House of Cards' etc. I am sharing these names as these books can really benefit children of our age. Not only she was a woman who managed to inspire millions but she used her money and power for a good cause in charities. You can find her books in any Indian bookshelf as if a bookshelf is incomplete without her masterpieces.

    1. Thank you @bright_horse, this has been such an informative post, I have learn a lot from it

  • Mr. Aliko Dangote is the current richest man in African. 70% of his wealth was made through cement productions, flour and sugar while the rest are from his ability to be a share holder of which he patronizes so many other people in businesses and investment. He also invested some of his wealth into agricultural export trade which had made him famous in some part of the world. He currently has an oil refinery in Nigeria that has already been dedicated.

  • Donald Trump (the current president of the united states) has a lot of power, he has a high quantity of followers and people who were bought by money. But he also has a high political position. In conclusion Donald Trump has a lot of power.

  • If we look at powerful people in news, an example that triggers in my mind is Greta Thunberg, a 22 years old Swedish Climate activist who went against world leaders to weaken the effect of climate change caused by humans and protested in Swedish areas due to which, she got arrested several times but did not give up. Currently, she has 14M followers who have been influenced by her passion, thoughts and courage. At a really young age, she has become an influencer and inspiration for many people. And it is a fact that where there is influence, there is power. These influenced people only become their power. This power motivates them to continue doing their work and never give up. In case of Greta Thunberg, the influenced people are the source of motivation for her.
These type of powerful people can help a lot in improvement of a society and promote other people to do the same.

  • Elon Musk is a very powerful person all around the world. Elon has used his power by influencing other people on social media to think and believe a lot of things he says. He also used his power to buy himself into a political position. In my personal opinion I do not like the way he is using his power. It is not fair for him to have a political position because nobody voted for him he just used his money and Donald Trump to gain that position. Also not everyone should think one way just because one powerful person thinks that way.

  • I think the one of the most powerful people is Kamala Harris. I believe if she would have won the presidency, she would have some of the same policies as Joe Biden, and she would have been the 1st woman president. If she was president, the rich people would have the same bills and taxes for and it will be equal, for like kinda rich people. We also have lower taxes and nothing would change in school. so that's why kamala Harris is a powerful person to me.

  • Elon Musk is powerful person. People who are powerful, are rich and some people like Elon Musk use money to make them even more powerful. Some powerful people help others, but Elon Musk did some bad things and is greedy in my opinion. Because he is rich, which makes him powerful he can't go to jail. Elon Musk gave money which gave him power he gave it away so people choose Trump. Elon Musk uses x to attack people he hates.

    1. Hi inspiring_walrus, thank you for your comment. It is certainly a problem if people are so powerful that they are above the law. You mention that Elon Musk "can't go to jail". Would you mind sharing your evidence for that claim?

  • I believe that some people who are given power can do good things with it, such as activists in Eritrea and other countries that lack basic human rights, and also charities who give money to starving children in low income countries. (LICs) However, power is sometimes left in the wrong hands, such as Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of North Korea. It is a known fact that there is a portrait of Kim Jong Un in every house/apartment and if this portrait burns in a fire or becomes damaged, the family that lives there will be executed. This is crazy because it might not be the family's fault for the fire, and they also have other possesions that may be extremely valuable to them.

  • A powerful celebrity of India is Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli is an Indian cricketer who plays for India national cricket team. He was born in Delhi, India on 5 Nov ,1988. Virat is the first player in ICC cricket history to win all 3 ICC awards in a single year.Virat Kohli has changed the face of cricket, redefined fitness, and become a global icon.
He might not be as rich as Elon Musk but yes, he is a great inspiration for millions of cricketers and immature cricket players. Kohli's discipline and commitment have inspired many players. He is also very powerful and famous because he has also
emerged as the leading celebrity with the highest brand value across India, grossing over 227 million U.S. dollars in 2023.

  • I think that a great example of a person who doesn´t use all his power in a good way is Donald Trump. His presidency had many problems and controveries, although it seems that people of United States don´t care becuse he is president again. In my opinion he is a person who abuses his power and also influence other people to use violence.

  • I believe that a powerful people can influence the world in different ways, whether through physical, mental, or financial power. One example is Rafael Nadal, the famous Spanish tennis player, who has used his skill and discipline to achieve global success and motivate many people to work hard to make their dreams true. Another example is Amancio Ortega, the founder of Inditex, this business includes brands as Zara, Bershka or Bimba y Lola. His vision and business strategy, built one of the largest fashion empires in the world, I am sure you know some of the shops recently mentioned. These individuals show how types of power can change lives and inspire others to pursue their dreams.

  • A strong person is Arumina Sinha from India. She is somewhat an 'unsung hero' in the modern world. Since her early childhood days, she fought with society regarding girls and sports opportunities. After rigorous training, she was a prodigy in the basketball team. Back in the day, women were seen as insecure in cheap local trains. But her courageous heart never feared the superstitious thinking of her family, but little did she know that one train ride would change her life. At the cracking of dawn, some robbers asked for her jewellery on the train. She protested and, asked a result, was thrown out of the coach. A train running parallel to the coach crushed her left leg. Due to medical complications, she was termed as disabled and used a prosthetic leg. Standing on one leg, she looked up to the peak of the Everest. After years of unlocking a true desire of being the first disabled-woman to touch the highest peak, she started a 3 month journey, all alone. Carring 30 kilos while climbing on one leg in the thinnest of air was a challenge, but with a bold heart, she took it on. After losing her prosthetic leg at 8,000m above sea level, she kept her focus on the peak, and in 2013, she made her dream come true. She proudly mounted the Indian flag where the healthiest people crumble. She stated that a man or woman, ordinary or disabled can achieve their dream. She inspired paraolympics athletes and initiated government support towards the disabled. Today she stands as a woman of immaculate prowess, who has made a half-a-trillion women realise their inner passion and capabilities.

  • For me ,Malala Yousafzai is an example of powerful people. She was born in Pakistan and is known for being an activist who fight for the education of girls, and after she was shot, even when tje people threatened her, she continued to speak out against them, and she also started a charity for the right to education for children. The biggest success was when she stood in front of tje people and spoke about it, but of course also the fact that she managed to improve education.

  • an example of a powerful person is Tshepo Mahloele he was born in 1967 in mamelodi he has worked in private equity for over two decades and he is the the CEO of Harith a renowned entrepreneur and a philanthropist he founded a project that provided clean energy and solutions to deprived communities. he also gave scholarship to African students studying engineering and sustainability studies. he has given many children in the country opportunities which made a great difference in the country, giving the students opportunities to be like him and even be better than him.

  • A powerful person i have seen a bunch of times in the news is Elon Musk.He owns very big companies and social media like X (formerly twitter),Tesla,And SpaceX.He also has an estimated net worth of 400 Billion dollars. He can use that money for power and gain anything he wants. An example of how he has used this power is that he has been more in politics than ever before.Donald trump has also made him his government advisor.Elon musk has a lot of money he can use for buying important things for his job or something else.

  • Elon Musk is a very powerful person. One of the reasons why Elon Musk is powerful is that he has a political stand and he was chosen as an executive for Donald Trump. He also had made and owned powerful businesses like Tesla SpaceX and Twitter but now that he owns it ,it's called X. He also has social media power, he has a lot of loyal fans. He is friends with president Trump and he asked his fans to vote for president Trump. And he is very rich with a net worth of over $400 billion. Even though he has a lot of power he doesn't really do any bad deeds or any good deeds.

  • Elon and Trump might be one of the most powerful duos right now in terms of money and political influence because they both could probably do anything they wanted but nobody should be able to have that type of power alone even the 3 branches can still be bribed with Elon's 400 million net worth money and social influence speaking of y'all here about what he said about the refuge charity's but anyway my point is Elon has to much power and needs to be checked.

  • Donald trump is a very rich and powerful person who got cheated into the president position by Elon musk who is also a rich and powerful man. landlords are a thing in every community there is also industries like Tesla and SPACE X and with that I shall close off for the day

    1. What do you think about the ways that Donald Trump has used his power?

  • Can you be powerful without money? Capital and power are highly related. In this comment I'll try to answer this question based on evidence and my own point of view.

So, first, I'll start my explanation by saying that these days we can find out about a lot of powerful people on the media… Every single time I turn on the TV to watch the news, I end up learning something new about a politician, a famous singer..So what is considered a “powerful person”? In my opinion, it is pretty easy to recognize them. I think that a powerful person is the one that is able to use his/hers personal resources to influence others and to make them think or act in a certain way. Of course, it is not all about influence, but, Do you think that a rich person is powerful just because of his cash? Or does he become truly powerful when he uses his financial position to create opinions among the rest of the population? Do you think that a person can be considered “powerful” just because he has money, or do you truly become important when you have contacts, and people hear your opinions?
Despite this, I also think that money plays an important role when it comes to obtaining this power. We can talk about Taylor Swift, Gwyneth Paltrow.. All these celebrities were rich before becoming famous. I would also like to talk about Elon Musk (since this section of discussion is about him), who used his money to become progressively powerful and important (on social media, in science and technology, in the US elections..)
However, we can find many different situations of how people reached their power!

    1. These are all good examples and that is an interesting question whether whether power can come just from being rich. Can you think of any examples of powerful people who are not also rich?

      1. Hello, Laura! Before answering your question, thank you for your reply!
Soo..Are there any examples of powerful people who are not also rich? I think you asked me about this topic at the right time! This is because recently, I have watched a very interesting documentary on the TV about one of the most curious persons I've ever heard about. Want to find out who I'm talking about?
As I said in my original comment, in my opinion, people become "powerful" when they are able to use their resources to influence the rest of the population, and I think that José Mujica is definitely the man who was able to achieve this without being rich. Here, I'll explain why.
First, we need to know who he is and why is he well-known. So, to sum up, Mujica is an Uruguayan politician and farmer who won the elections on the 1st of March of the year 2010. Anyways, the most important thing about this man is that he is known as "the world's humblest head of state". Why? Well, part of his nickname comes from the fact that he lives a normal lifestyle and his frequent donations of around 90 percent of his monthly salary to charity that benefits poor people!
I think that more people around the world should learn and be proud of this person, because even if he was tortured and locked in jail for no more and no less than 14 years, the only thing he is trying to do after all he suffered is to make society a better place!
In this way, I think Mujica is a great example of a powerful person who is not rich: he was able to have a great effect and influence among people, even without money! :)

  • Elon Musk is an extremely powerful person who was born in South Africa in 1971. He is mostly known for being the manufacturer of Tesla, confounding PayPal and later obtaining the app “X” (Past Twitter). As far as I’m concerned, a person, and specifically, a woman who I believe could be as powerful as Elon Musk is Nadia Murad. Nadia was born in Iraq and now she lives in Germany. Sadly, when she was young in 2014, ISIS kidnapped her and held her hostage for about three months. Luckily, she managed to escape and she is now an advocate for all women who have experienced and survived sexual assault, inspiring all the women out there to speak up, share their experiences and claim the respect they need. She won many awards for her actions and she also founded an organisation who offered aid to women who had been through genocide. Nadia was, is and will forever be there for all the people who must be provided advocacy and create a better future for everyone.

Personally, Nadia’s story is motivating and has influenced many women in the world not to be afraid to share their experiences. Nadia Murad is a woman of courage and I believe that everyone should be informed about her bittersweet story.

  • The most powerful person I've seen in news, I think is Narendra Modi. He's the prime minister of India, yet with the number of people truly devoted to him you'd think he is the president. He is man of values, honor and discipline, who puts all his life's works in making India a greater nation. Under his rule, the state of India of increased by a staggeringly high number, because of which India soon gained the title of vishwaguru or in English the world's teacher (correct me if I'm wrong). I think it's because of his efforts that people now have blind faith in him and are convinced that he could do no wrong. Because of this blind faith, the amount of patriotism among the citizens has gone up as well. Though sometimes Mr. Modi goes overboard with hyping India up in several contexts, there are very few instances where he actually abuses his power.

  • The person or celebrity I would like to talk about is Amr Diab. his full name is Amr Abdul Aziz Abdul basset Diab. he is born on 11/10/1961. his artistic name is Amr Diab, and his nickname is El hadaba. He is an Egyptian singer, actor, song writer and composer. He is one of the most famous Arab and Middel-Easter singers. Usually, his albums hit and achieve huge sales. Most of his songs are translated into different languages: English, French, Greek, Hindi, Turkish, Croatian and many others. He has received the World Music Award 7 times. Furthermore, he was the first Arab singer to enter the Guinness World Records. He was the first Arab singer to have a billboard in Newyork. He has 1.3 billion streams on Spotify. In addition, he made campaigns for international companies like Pepsi, Chipsy, Vodafone, Orange and much more.

  • Călin Georgescu who the people say is far-right, pro Russia politician who became the leader of the Romanian election campaign this year. It was said in the media his campaign was most successful on TikTok and there may have been some Russian interference in the campaign because of his ally. This meant the election had to be cancelled which caused a lot of democracy uncertainty in my country. However, the polls have been rescheduled and he still seems to be the likely winner in May 2025 despite all of this. People say Musk is the only one using social media for power but it even happens here in my country.

  • Donald Trump is a great example of powerful people. He not only managed to become president of the United States twice but he also started to change a lot of things in the political system right away (rhight after he was elected), which influences not only the US but the whole world.

  • I think Elon musk is a powerful person because he is a wealthy man also he is Donald trump advisor and he has the most power to do anything like political positions and more so he had the most power just because he has the most money like over 400 billion dollars and just because he created Tesla and bought Twitter and SpaceX doesn't mean that he is the smartest person so I agree that he is a powerful person.

    1. What do you think about the way Elon Musk has used his power?

  • Honestly to me Erling Haaland is a very important and influential person as he inspires young children and many idolise him. With him setting new records in the Premier league and his teamwork with his Manchester City teammates, he has made a real difference in the world of football and for many people around the world.

    1. You make an interesting point about Erling Haaland. Can you think of examples of how he has used his power?

  • Elon musk is a rich man and because of that he has an advantage, that advantage is to be powerful. He owns several companies like space x and Tesla so he gets a lot of money. Having a lot of money makes you powerful, for example since Elon musk has a lot of money and is the richest man in the world he has a political position even if nobody voted for him to have a political position. But he can either use this power for good or bad its up to him.

  • Elon Musk is a powerful man because he owns three big name companies like X and Space X, and Tesla. He is so powerful that few can compare to him not even Mr Trump can't compare with his and that shows something. An example that show he is powerful is that he was picked to be a government advisor because of his money so I think because of his money he became a government advisor. Here is an example of why he doesn't have responsibility with all this power he started having problems with Eu leaders because he was live on X and he was telling his followers about war that they should't know about he should be talking with Mr Trump about the war not with his followers. This is why Elon Musk is a powerful person.

  • I think Elon Musk is one of the most powerful people. He is recognised as one of the richest in the entire world, he has influence in political parties and is an advisor for Donald Trump. I think his sucess is largely due to his money, he bought X in 2022 and has used it to influence people worldwide, increasing his power economically and bringing his name into the current media.

  • I think that Elon Musk is a very powerful person due to his money, social media platofrm, and political position. He has an estimated net worth of $400 billion. With his money, he can influence people through his social media platform X as he bought it in 2022. He is well known globally due to the amount of money he has. For example, people may not know who the president of every country is, but everyone knows Elon Musk due to his wealth. His relationship with Donald Trump can also influence politics as he can advise Donald Trump with political decisions.

    1. You have made some interesting points. Do money and power alone justify political influence, or are other skills needed for effective leadership?

  • I think that Elon Musk has a lot of power and influence mainly due to his money. Elon Musk bought X in 2022, and this has allowed him to share his opinions and use his power to influence people. Without money, he wouldn't have been able to buy the platform, which would have made his opinions less known. He is also Donald Trump's presidential advisor, which gives him the power to influence the president of America, one the world's most well known people.

  • Personally, I believe that todays society is too highly focused upon powerful male figureheads. Have you ever heard of Angela Merkel. Of course not. She has many remarkable achievements yet nobody knows the importance of her. One being the first female leader of the CDU as well as being the first non catholic of the role also. CDU stands for the Christian Democratic Union. I think that as she leads a major parliament group she has significant power yet remains unrecognised in nationwide society. If important males can have so much influence upon our society such as Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk then why not recognise the Minister of Women and Youth along with all the other successions she has brought to modern day Germany. We should stand for the recognition of women so they can be amongst the ranks of the unfairly male dominated list.

  • I believe that this statement is true to some extent because we all know that Elon musk is 1of the most powerful people in the earth 1 because of his economic status 2 because of his political status after Donald trump got the presidential spot. However I believe that we need to recognise other significant figures for example Emma Watson or Deng Xiaoping who helped millions of people in china to get out of poverty so things that Elon musk is making a big deal of what people are doing and making no drama about it. Also Emma Watson is more important in my opining as she is helping to fight for women who have a lack of education so overall i believe that we should recognise others more

  • Alicia Garza, who i believe is a very powerful person, has managed to change thousands of lives of people! I've read about her a lot through news and other reputable websites. She is the Co-Founder of BLM (black lives matter, 2013) movement and Founder of B2L (black futures lab). Alicia, along with 2 other people; Patrise Cullors and Opal Tometi, have brought a big change in America and the whole world regarding racial injustice, police ferocity and systemic oppression (unfair treatment based on social identity). I really admire these people, they really fought for humanity and helped bring a positive change in our racist society. No money, no fame, no political position, yet they still stand out, it's their hardwork, passion and tenacity that has made them this successful. They brought a remarkable change in countries like UK, nigeria and brazil etc.
So, Alicia still continues to be a great source of motivation and now, is a leading force in black empowerment and activism.

  • Elon Musk is such a powerful man, with 424 billion pounds he can buy him self into anything. He was banned from TikTok from a period of time, but he was unbanned after less than 12 hours. Donald Trump is also friends with Elon Musk, so Trump chose Mr Musk to be the government advisor. In class, we thought of what is the worst scenario that involved Elon Musk and some how there were many. Apparently he is getting involved with global politics.
I have learned so much more about Elon Reeve Musk.
Thank you [ for reading my comment]

  • I know that King Charles is a very powerful person because he is the leader of England and his mother (queen Elizebeth ) was in charge before him. Sadly queen Elizebeth passed away not long ago. I think that Elon musk does have power because he has: money which can help to buy business in his case Tesla; social media influence as he owns the social media platform X and he is the president of the USA Donald trumps advisor. In Mr Musks case he is lucky as ge is the richest person in the whole world.

  • I recently watched a documentary about the Sea Shepherds. I found it fascinating how much power they hold now. In its early years, they were despised by nearly every major country. Luckily, most of them have seemed to notice that they need to cooperate with them. This was not at least because of their penetrant approach to stop illegal poaching. They held a big part in stopping Japan's illegal whale poaching and bringing attention to it. It is incredible how such a "small" organisation can go up against countries. And all of this was lead by Paul Watson, a fearless man, convinced by his morals. Even though he isn't really powerful anymore, he led the way for one of the biggest and most influencial anti-poaching organisations at sea today. This really is a prime example of how power can be used to do good things. But it also tells the tale of how power can be achieved. Some people might find Paul Watsons actions to controversial. But he says, and I agree, that this was the only way for him to get power, by speaking out things people didn't want to hear. And this statement is very fitting for the time we live in right now.
Be honest and point out the truth, even if it is uncomfortable. We don't need to lie to ourselves.

  • A powerful person that I have been thinking about lately, mostly because of recent events in the music industry, has been the American singer and songwriter Chappel Roan. She has made a significant impact on her fans, and on whoever listens to her music, with her personal portrayal and expression and the incorporation of queer themes in her work. Helping to create acceptance, empowerment, and confidence among her audience. Her expressive and unique style has enhanced the creativity and individuality of a lot of people that have been inspired by her. In this year’s Grammys, she won “Best New Artist”; and I think this award was completely deserved because of everything formerly mentioned. Also, she took her speech opportunity and the power it gave her to call out on record companies, and the music industry, and demand that they treat their artists properly. Not only as profit makers, but as human beings who need a living wage and healthcare. And, for me, she is not only influential for that, but an amazing person too.

  • Recently,India lost one of it's gem named Sir Ratan Tata.
Shri Tata was one of the prominent business leaders of India who was the chairpwrson of the esteemed conglomerate Tata group.
His vision, leadership style, ethical principles and philantrophic initiatives make him a powerful person in my view.
Despite being one of the most wealthiest people of India, the simple lifestyle he lived is truly inspirational for us the youth. It teaches us what exactly simple living - high thinking means.
His visions for both his organisation Tata, and the society were ethical, innovative and longterm.

His involvement in social upliftment, rural development, animal welfare, disaster relief, educational reforms all speak volumes about his love and devotion towards humanity.
His leadership, strategic thinking and strong visionary approach led his firm Tata to successfully capture and merge giants like Jaguar Land Rover and Corus Steels into his company.

His ethical values while running business, strong innovation, philantrophic work, strategic vision and iconic simple lifestyle all make gin one the most powerful person of my country.
His impact over the country and his overall life story is truly inspirational for millions of youthful indians like us.

  • I agree with my colleagues that Ratan Tata was a powerful , a rich person and a visionary business leader in India . Ratan Tata had done great work by helping poor and homeless people . His idea of giving everybody a car inspired him to create an automotive company called Tata motors but still he did not stop when he went to Ford motors they rejected him so he thought of buying jaguar and Land Rover limited and that’s when he showcased his power to the world . Alas for the world he died on 9 October 2024 . This great person was just like the nine gems in Akbar's Court . He was a great inspiration to the youths of the country. His one of the famous quotations was “ None can destroy iron ,but its own rust. likewise, none can destroy a person , but their own mindset can “. I hope that there are many more people in the world helping other and are doing such social services

  • A person that I perceive as “powerful” could be Bill Gates, he’s also one of the richest people
in the world along with Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Bezos. He co-founded
Microsoft,a company that transformed the computer industry by making personal computers
and software accessible to millions of people worldwide.
Gates led Microsoft with vision and strong leadership, turning it into one of the biggest and
most successful technology companies in history. Through the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation, he has supported projects that improve education, health care, and access to
clean water in many underdeveloped regions. One notable example of how he used his
power was his support for efforts to reduce malaria in Africa by funding research and
providing mosquito nets to save lives.
I believe his actions show that true power comes from using success and resources to help
others and solve important global challenges.

  • In my opinion, here in my country, we have a lot of powerful people in different jobs and these people are really powerful and you are going to have the same opinion like me after I say some examples of powerful people in my country and you will be amazed and you will get fascinated and exited .
    OMAR KHAIRAT
In my point of view , Omar Khairat is a really huge and enormous example of powerful people . He was born on 11th November 1948 , he is a famous musician and composer and he is playing on the piano.
    HOW IS HE POWERFUL
Omar Khairat is a powerful man and I said this but do you know why ? Because of his composers . You are going to ask me how ,because his composers is like a magic and when just listen to his composers you will feel that you are in another world and you will imagine that you are standing in front of a huge beautiful and fascinating image. Now your opinion is like me right but I still didn't finish, we have actually a lot of many other examples but I am going to say another one of these powerful people
The legend (Magdi Yacoub) and if there is a word better than legend,I was going to say it.
    MAGDI YACOUB
In my opinion, I know that I said in my opinion and in my point of view many times but this because people have different opinions ,ok whatever let's go back to conversation again. Magdi Yacoub was born on November 16, 1935 and he is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon .
    HOW IS HE POWERFUL
He is not just powerful ,he is super super powerful because he helped a lot of people especially children and all of his life is just studying and helping people .

  • Vladimir Putin shows how too much control can hurt a country. Unlike leaders in the democratic countries, who need the support of their people, Putin has made himself the center of Russia. He has silenced anyone who disagrees with him, taken over media, and removed rivals. His objetive isn’t on making Russia better, but on holding onto power at all costs, even if it means keeping the country away from the rest of the world. Under his rule, Russia has become a place where freedom of expression and thought is limited, and the people have little say in their future.

His invasion of Ukraine is an example of how he uses the war as a distraction. Facing problems like a weak economy and growing unhappiness, Putin turned to conflict to unite people under the banner of patriotism. By making Ukraine the enemy, he tried to drive attention away from Russia’s internal issues. But the war has only weakened Russia, made it more divided, and increased the suffering of its citizens. More people now are questioning his leadership than ever before.

The biggest issue with Putin’s rule is that Russia can’t function without him. By removing anyone who could lead after him, he has created a system in which everything depends on him. True leadership is not just about having control, it’s about building something that can carry on without you. When Putin stop leading, Russia will need to figure out how to rebuild and advance in his absence.

    1. I am unsure whether this comment is your own opinion or has been taken and copied from other sources. Can you tell me where you did the research?

      1. Hello Olivia! I didn't use any specific sources because I already now a lot about these topic and of him. I chose Putin because I don' t understand the way he thinks and this makes him very interesting to me. Even if I don't agree with his position and how he uses his power, I have to recognize he is really clever (but not in a good sense).

He literally make the whole world be afraid of his power. His influenze is not limited to Russia's militar strength, It's about how he plays a very important role in politics globaly. All the decitions he take are carefully planned, both the advantages and the disadvantages.

        1. Can you give me some evidence as to why you say the whole world is afraid of his power?

          1. To me, the best evidences we have of this is that when Putin started the war with Ukraine it was a clear demostration of strength and a threat for Europe. When Russia started the invation, he showed he doesn't care of using military force to get everything he wants.

This was a big warning to the whole Europe because if Russia could attack Ukraine, other countries would be in risk to. Along all the confilict and these three years the UN try to punish them with sancions, but Russia response cutting the gas supply to Europe. This was a serious problem because a lot of European countries depended on it.
They also blocked the exportations of Ukranian wheat, which caused the prices increase worldwide. This show us the amount of influence Russia has, enough to make the whole world economy shake only by doing a small decition.

Right know, Russia has made aliances with a lot of different very powerful countries which makes it even more dangerous. These allow Russia to continue with the war despite sancions.

Here in Spain the consequences were easy to see, due to COVID-19 there was already an economic crisis, and with the war inflation increses even more.

  • One more powerful person that comes to my mind is Muhammad Ali. He's literally the best motivation, I've always admired him and so did many. His profession is boxing, he was one of the BEST American boxers of all time, he had done so well in his career as a boxer that he is still known for his charisma, tenacity, refreshing confidence and his big role in activism. That's right, to those who don't know, he was not only a mere boxer, but also a great human! I've watched many of his interviews, his confidence is the best part, the way he carried himself was truly legendary. He is a great personality, being both powerful and influential. If spoken about activism, he played a great role in stopping the Vietnam War (1970, i guess), not only this, but he also stood up for civil rights; fighting racism and injustice which had inspired MILLIONS of people worldwide. Despite being a boxer, he dedicated his life in helping others, raised money for charities and worked with peace. Late muhammad ali still continues to inspire generations by his immortal icon consisting bravado, confidence, strength, justice and ingenuity!

  • I believe that Nelson Mandela shall never be forgotten regarding his works and his contribution towards his country. With no one to start along him, he decided to fight against racism and bring that to an end. Although many like Mahatma Gandhi joined him later on, but taking an initiative and bringing a positive change regarding races in that time period, along with finishing his works, is not the one to be forgotten. South Africa, and event the world is grateful to him.

  • In my opinion, power doesn't only mean being rich, having money, being globally recognised, owning luxury items or having millions of followers in social media. You can be powerful if you want to. Power means having the courage to show to the rest of the world your ideas, be strong and defend your own thoughts and stand for what you believe, what is right and for world justice. Things that we all should do to help society to raise their voices and make a change.

As an example of this we can find incredible persons like Mahatma Gandhi, Marie Curie, Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Albert Einstein, Florence Nightingale or Malala Yousafzai.(Some of them) All of these people fought for important reasons, some made important discoveries, others fought for independence, non-violence, for education, social health, rights, equality and justice.
Like Martin Luther King , Martin Luther King Jr. was an American minister and activist (born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, and died on April 4,1968 in Memphis,Tennessee)who became a central figure in the civil rights movement in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s with, for example, his iconic speech “I have a Dream” In which he expressed his vision of a future in which people of all races could live together, in equality and harmony. It had a great impact on American society, it helped a lot of people to open their minds and be brave to do things in the right way without caring about the consequences, and it also generated a big influence for us to try to make a better world.
    That’s what power means.

  • A powerful person I have seen in the news is Elon Musk for his influence in technology and business with companies like Tesla and SpaceX. He also uses his power on social media throught X(old Twitter), where his post can affect markets and publuc debates. Some people see him as an innovator, while others think he goes too far, I agree with these ones.
Another example is Malala Yousafazai, an activist for girls education. Her power comes from her story and her work to change laws and give young women more opportunities worldwide.
Musk´s power comes from technology and money, while Malala's is from activism and inspiration. Which type of power do you think lasts longer?
I have my answer clear, Malala has a story to tell and to change the world while Elon only has money, that in our society has a value because we give it, but in any moment people can change and decide we shouldn't let money control our life comnpletely, so Malala's power is the one with more worth and the one I hope to last longer as she also has a generous goal.

    1. Which type of power do you think has a more lasting impact: wealth and technology like Elon's, or activism and inspiration, like Malala's?

  • One powerful person I’ve noticed is Kentaji Brown, if you don’t know her she is the first African American woman to serve on the US Supreme Court. Now if you don’t know what she does or why she’s important let me tell you. She has the role of making decisions that shape the country, especially things like civil rights and equality for all. Here’s an example, in the recent case of Trump vs United States, Kentaji Brown disagreed in a ruling that gave former presidents legal from prosecution. She argued that this decision will rebel against the principle that no one is above the law and could damage trust in the judiciary. I will say again she has made history within our Supreme Court because the Supreme Court has existed for 230 years without an African American female having a seat at the table. She brings a new perspective to the highest court in the country, showing that representation matters. She has been criticised since nomination, however her experience and dedication to justice show why having diversity in our leadership is important. In my opinion her power is different from other celebrities, because she doesn’t make trends she makes laws.

  • He is very rich and is worth over 400 billion he is a advisor to Donald Trump who has become president in America Elon Musk owns x used to be called twitter he has been reported to have altered the elections outcomes and posting not true things about Camala Harris and spreading not true things about a refugee charity now they are receiving hurtful comments and threats and he shared his opinions about Nigel Farage leader of reform UK now people are calling him to resign and Mr Musk has endorsed a German candidate and now Europe unions are upset with him.Now that Elon has loads of money and power he is looking for more political position.

  • I believe that musk has a lot of power and influence over the world because of his social media platform and money. Elon is the worlds richest man, he is a man of business and has now has become a big political figure and his most recent project is to send ordinary people to outer space which will cost a fortune.I think musk could use his power for good by helping to stop wars ( because of all his power i think he could ) however he has used his power for bad before, he posted a comment on X displaying his dislike of refugees which then inclined people to start being mean to the refugees, there were even threats.

  • Elon musk is one of the influential people of the 21century and also the richest man in the world, with more than $240 billion in assets.

  • one powerful person I've seen in the news is the president of the united states/ donald trump. trump has used his power by immediately putting down rules for when he became president.I think that this is a very presidential thing to do and I respect that.

  • On the news I have seen several powerful people use their power in various different ways, some good and some bad. I believe a person that has used their power for the good and yet bad is Elon Musk. He has helped develop space research and exploration with his company SpaceX and enhance human creation with Tesla. However, recently there has been a lot of a controversy regarding thhe gesture he made at a trump rally which many associated with the Nazi salute. In my opinion, whether intentional or not, this is a serious matter and some action should have been taken against him.
Another powerful person that has used their power for good is Bill Gates- he has donated on several occasions to a range of causes such as charities and education, helping massively to those who are less fortunate.

I think that power is crucial for todays society as we need to someone take lead but to label it good or bad just based off people isn’t something we should do. Power is good or bad or even both depending on it’s use, some people may use it to help and support us but other people might use it to their advantage and neglect the honour.

  • Question: What powerful people have you seen in the news? What’s an example of how they used their power? And what do you think about it?

Some powerful people I have seen in the news were Kamala Harris. An example of how she used her power was healthcare for the elderly and for the middle class. I think that this is powerful because having a political position helped her make the decision of healthcare.

  • I think a powerful person in the world is my friend. Let's call her lacrosse. Lacrosse is an amazing friend of mine and she's the strongest and most strived person I know. Not only is she a student-athlete but an honor roll student and maintains an exemplary report card and GPA, which makes her parents proud of her. Her performance on the field is amazing! Not only is she competitive but also a great team player. I've been to numerous of her lacrosse games (hence the name) and even when she gets knocked down, she takes it like a champ and keeps her head up high! On an educational level, she not only keeps her grade up high but also is advanced for her grade level. For this reason, I think my friend Lacrosse is a powerful person!

  • One of the most powerful men in Africa is AliKo Dangote. He was born on the 10th of April 1957 , he is a Nigerian business man, investor and owner of the Dangote group. Which has interests in commodities in Nigeria and other African countries .
Aliko Dangote is the chairman of the board of directors in the Dangote companies. He is the founder and president of the Dangote industries limited, primary holding company of the largest conglomerate in West Africa.

  • I agree because, From what I learnt Elon musk cofounded the eletronic payment firm paypal and in 2002 he founded space X, a company that makes rockets and space craft. He was a major early funder of Tesla, which makes eletric cars and battries, and became its chief executive officer in 2008.He purchased the social media service Twitter in 2022 and renamed it X in 2023.

  • I think there is a person who was able to change his family's and community's life and that has been able to inspire people to not give up and fight for their goals in order to make the world a better place. I am talking about William Kamkwamba, whose story we learnt in class by reading his book. William Kamkwamba was a young man from a small village of Malawi. He didn't have lot of money (not even to go to school, something many people take for granted) but he had curiosity, patience and a strong determination to better the life of people around him. William learnt about energy and built a windmill for providing electricity to his family by his own. He didn't have many resources but still was able to find common used objects and transform them into real components. This task wasn't easy and was full of obstacles (money, a famine and some people having almost no expectations of him succeeding) but he worked hard and achieve his objectives becoming an inspiration for people all over the world. I think William Kamkwamba is a powerful person because he had the capacity to change people's life and also because he has inspired thousands to do the same.

  • in my country, we have people like grace alele williams who is the first female vice chancellor in nigeria, in previous years before she became vice chancellors women never really occupy high positions in the educational sector mainly because we had few educated women and they were not really seen like they were capable of being in a high place of power. Grace alele changed that ideology when she was made vice chancellor because she introduced innovative non degree program that allowed women to teach as elementary school teacher and get certificates that would enable them further their career. she also was a strong advocate for women education to improve their access to technological and scientific subject which was difficult for women to study cause they had limited access to such facilities.
grace was not only an advocate she was a mentor to countless student giving then the motivation to work hard in order to achieve their goal. she used her power to establish international collaborations like 1. African mathematics program 2. World organization for early childhood education 3. UNESCO and institute of planning 4. vision 2010 and many more
she left a lasting legacy and used her power for the greater good of education in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

  • I think that Bill Gates is one of the most powerful person . He owned Microsoft a billion dollar company .Bill Gates has a net worth of 10,730 crores USD. He has studied in Harvard University,Many people admire from him because of his focus on innovation’s, strong leadership skill's and his ability to recognise the importance of partnerships and collaboration .He was inspired by Henry Edward Robert’s , the developer of early personal computer . His one of the most famous line was that he scored very low marks in exam and his friend had topped the exam and now his friend is the manager of a company and he is the owner of it . I hope that many people will draw inspiration from bill gates to become successful in life

  • Dr. B.R ambedkar was one of the most influential social reformer ,intellectual and political leaders in India. He played a pivotal role in shaping modern India.
He was a very powerful and influential indian. He is the epitome of how to use your influence and power for other peoples benefits.
He played a major role in solving severe problems related to the caste system. He helped to give the marginalized communities their rights .He also played a very crucial role in perfectly forming the constitution of India.
Being a dalit himself he had also experienced the problem. And to solve this problem he used his influence to change the mindset of people.
At that time he was one of the most powerful people in India. His decision were often accepted without any protests.
He proved that it doesn't take money to become influential, powerful and earn fame. If your intentions are good and relatable to people you will automatically get all these things.
His leadership skills were also excellent.

He was in a powerful position at that time but instead of misusing it he used it for the betterment of his country and its citizens.

He surrendered his whole life working for the rights of Dalits and marginalized people.

According to me he was a powerful person at that time .

  • On the news only I have seen Elon Musk recently but also I see people like Putin or Donald Trump or Joe Biden these 2 last one are the ex president of EEUU and president of EEUU. I think the unic person powerful that I think that he used the power correctly is Joe Biden and on my opinion it was an example to follow, because I like hes form to comunicate and his decision, in conclusion, for me was a great person that has used the power correctly

    1. Interesting ideas. In your opinion, what made Joe Biden a great person and leader?

  • Elon Musk is very rich! And has a lot of power! Because many people follow him on X! He can influence big decisions! Even in politics ! Some people think this is good ! And other think it's bad ! Should one person have so much power ?!

  • Elon musk he is the Richer Man in the world Elon musk Can help People also, if he helped them, he would , take there ideas to think of them. It is possible for small projects to be a big but it only need money So the person who can donate this money is Elon musk And we will provide the resources and I will have a great role in the council, but if helped the people is need helps and this will make him famous
🌹 And Thank you topical talk❤

  • I love watching the news on TV and I heard about a lot of powerful people such as Donald Trump or Putin. I don't like the way they use their power to impose rules and how do they govern their country because people are feeling uncomfortable and some of them are thinking about going away for having a better future. I think people must choose another person for ruling their country as most of them are disappointed with the decisions powerful people took.

  • Donald Trump, American president, political, public figure, a very rich man with an important impact in the world actual. He uses his power to implement radical political changes in the country. In my opinion, this changes are going to be disgusting for some minorities, and people that will be affected by decisions guided by extreme right.

  • In my opinion, I believe that all people can have something special, but only if we know what our power is as individuals. This power can be physical, mental, or financial. By recognizing some of these powers within ourselves, one of the first things we should do is examine it to know how to use it and make it continue to evolve.

For me, a great example of financial power is Warren Buffet, an American investor and entrepreneur considered one of the greatest investors in the world. He is the largest shareholder, president, and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. At 94 years of age, his net worth is $149.6 billion.

That's why I say that if we know and expand our power, we can become great people.

  • I think the president Donald Trump is powerful because he can make laws and also make things legal and illegal but sometimes he makes the wrong choices and it effects our life and the world we live in and sometimes he makes the right choices and it might effect some people and I might doesn't effect people.

One thing I think is going to effect most of the people who needs money and who buy grocery for with food stamps because they have money is when Trump takes away them getting food stamps because the rich people has to give money every month for the people who uses food stamps and I heard that rich people are getting tired of giving them money but I think they shouldn't have a problem with it because they already have enough money for whatever they need and they should want to help people that needs money because at some point they also needed money probably and some rich people knows how it feels to be poor with out money and without being able to buy grocery's for their house.

Trump can be powerful in many different ways because he's the president and he has control of the country that some of use live in.

  • I agree with you because as we all know Elon Musk is one of the richest people. He is the owner of his channel X and he owns Tesla and he has over 200 billion dollars. That is why I agree that he is very political and powerful.

    1. Could you please explain what you mean by 'political'?

  • A currently power characteer, Elon Musk, this is due to the fact that he is currently introduced in the politics of the United States, as well as in the technological development being an entreprenur of great impact, buying applications such as twitter, and with his companies such as Tesla, SpaceX and influence on financial markets.

My view is that power in the hands of figures like Elon Musk can be a way of innovation, but it also poses risks if there is not enough regulation or control over his decisions. His imfluences goes beyond his companies, affecting markets and policies.

  • Powerful individuals, such as political leaders, business magnates and celebrities often use their influence to shape policies, market and public opinion. For instance, a president might issue decrees for swift changes, an entrepreneur could sway financial markets with statements, a celebrity could raise awareness for social causes. These action garner both praise for their effectiveness and criticism for potential overreach.

  • Over the years there have been several poweful people in the news who have made change. There are some that are really important for me and I believe have had the biggest impact either for the negative or good.

One being Donald Trump who is now once again the President of the United States. Having control over a country takes a lot of responsibility and control, Trump is very into politics and has recently spoke about his view on the ceasefire in Gaza and the Russian-Ukrainian war. Many people don’t like him as in the past some comments were viewed by scholars and the public by rcaist and sympathetic to white supremacy.

A person who has made change is Bill Gates. Being the chairman and founder of many large companies takes a lot of determination and effort. Owning microsoft, which has helped millions of people around the globe to be more productive and effective. Windows is also available to everyone allowing everyone to have the same opportunities and access.

Finally we have Elon Musk, entrepreneur and businessman in ownership of large companies like Tesla, X (Twitter) and SpaceX. All of these platforms have allowed people to have opportunities and enhance human creation. Tesla’s success has helped reduce reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to the fight against climate change.

All these people have fans and haters, perhaps some more than others. However, what link them all is their power. Power allows individuals to make decisions and make change, almost as though those in power have authority over the people that don’t. Is this right and should this be allowed?
