  • I think there should be a discussion about trees in the Amazon and deforestation because of the impact of the world it has. Although we are getting lots of paper and wood, air is decreasing massively. 3% of the world is covered by rainforests and it would be a shame to see the world destroy in front of our eyes. We need air to breathe, and trees do exactly that. They breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out air we breathe and we wouldn’t survive without it. 2,000 trees are cut down every minute. That is a serious issue for us.

    1. Great explanation. It's oxygen that trees breathe out and we need - which is found in the air!

    2. I totally agree with jazzed_apple.It is undoubtedly a vital issue which has been concerning humanity for decades.Even though we have been discussing this throughout the world, nothing has been done to stop the crime of deforestation.Despite all the warnings that our planet is in great danger, people keep cutting trees for making personal profit. For example they destroy the forests to build houses, and manufacture a wide variety of objects. If we continue to act this way,we will not have a place to live in.It's imperative that immediate action be taken!!!!It's a matter of life and death.

    3. I agree with you, we totally need trees. But furthermore, they are not only a need for our well-being, but a need for the whole planet. The deforestation of the Amazon rainforest is a problem that affects people, but also wildlife. By chopping down trees, apart from priving us from natural purifiers, we destroy complete habitats for animals and all kinds of wildlife, which loose their homes and then need to migrate to areas which are not their homes, and that can also affect local people and fauna.
Moreover, deforestation causes soil erosion and desertification, which is considered an irreversible loss (it would take thousands of years for vegetation, life and soil to recover; even if we let trees to grow freely, it would take a bunch of years, and we would need to plant mature trees ourselves to help it). Soil erosion also affects us, as it can result in landslides and avalanches (many times due to lack of root anchoring).
Finally, I didn't know that about 2,000 trees are cut down every minute, it completely killed me. This is a very serious issue that we need to protest and educate people about, and fast enough to stop it before it's even later.

      1. I strongly agree with you, when it comes to deforestation or loss of habitat its strange that whenever we encounter such articles they mostly talk about how Earth is getting destroyed and how we would soon be in a dilemma and have to go to Mars. We think about making another planet habitable while exhausting our own. It so ironic that we talk about venturing in space in search of habitable planets or planets like earth while exploiting our Earth's resources. Why is that, whenever an issue like global warming is raised we think about mobilising to a different planet by destroying our own ? Its highly devastating that we are so keen to explore the outer space in search of planets alike and spend billions of dollars on the same while not putting in the efforts to save our Earth, our land.
Moreover, 17 grown trees are cut to make 1 ton of paper. Now imagine that if we as students mindfully use this paper then how many trees can we save from being cut. Its not just about eliminating the use of paper rather using it judiciously and recycling it whenever possible.
As aware climate activists, we as students can start saving Earth just by taking simple yet necessary steps before raising awareness regarding climate change.

    4. I absolutely agree with you!Not many people are discussing this subject which can seriously impact our lives as a whole. We need to stop this cutting down these trees or in better terms if you are going to cut down a tree at least replant it instead of just using the slash and burn method to make things a little better. The Amazon is basically considered the Earth's lungs and by slowly lowering the rate of trees we can seriously not only harm ourselves but our animals and nature too.If we want to protect Earth's life forms and ourselves we need to stop cutting down the trees that provide oxygen, medicine, and homes for life forms. On the other hand, Brazil is doing it for a good cause, they are doing it to grow more agriculture and house more cattle.Overall people need to be more aware of this.

    5. I strongly agree on this topic and would furthermore like to add that this is a problem on a large scale and we need to spread global awareness. This is because deforestation isn't s threat for a country or two but instead it's for the existence of humankind and life of all organisms on planet earth.Deforestation is done by big groups for their own greed. Also i would like to connect this with our main topic"Russia and Ukraine" and would like to say that many resources are needed by both the countries for this war and indirectly they are coming from one or the other sources of nature. Also large scale destruction destroys the natural environment of certain places. As an example when there is destruction using nuclear waste like Chernobyl,To this day very less vegetation grows in the toxic area.Thats why wars cause a lot of harm to the environment directly or indirectly.
To conclude i would like to say that we should act globally and as soon as possible to resolve this problem and save our planet

    6. I am in accord of your perspective. It’s high time for all the humans to take action to saving the nature. It’s high time for us to gear up!!

    7. I agree with you because the Amazon rainforest is called the lungs of the earth as they provide 16% of all of the earth's oxygen. Then the trees in rainforests help stabilize the climate. But they also provide many foods, water, medicine and the water that the plants release to help drive the water cycle. But some people may or may not know that the government has known about deforestation and hasn't done much. But on top of all that slashing and burning the trees makes it harder for them to grow back as they estimate that it takes about 40 years for it to all grow back. As we can see the rainforest takes forever to grow back and this destroys wildlife and makes it hard for animals to live in peace when humans are constantly disturbing them. So many people need to learn about this because its super important.

    8. I agree on this topic but would also like to ask a few questions. As we know that deforestation is at large and is harming the environment. We all know this problem and also the solutions but no one is taking actions. All individuals feel that their individual action won't bring a change. But the reality is that even each individual's efforts can bring a major change and can help save the planet. The questions I have are that.
•How should we spread this news and bring it in the highlights.
•How to motivate all the mass of people to take individual actions
•How to promote these afforestation schemes.
These are the main questions which I brainstorm upon and feel that when these questions are solved,There can be a huge change.

    9. I 100% agree with you, this is a major worldwide problem that's currently happening. It is great that we get many supplies like paper and wood, but at what cost? Not only are we destroying the earth but we are creating problems for ourselves. This is a serious problem that needs to be discussed.

    10. I agree because...
Amazon supplies us with the most amount of oxygen (because it has the most trees). But sadly these are being cut down for a daily essentials for example paper. This will affect animals as many live in forests and also those not living there (the food chain). It will affect us as we would not be able to breathe and do many things. Just like a story I read, the bubble, where humans had to live in bubbles that supplied them with air and most people did not know anything like trees and plants which is a big shame as we met trees here we meet on earth.
Relating to the Russia and Ukraine war,
Russia has many natural resources example Hydro, Gold, Diamond, etc. And also more than 100,000 forests which contributes greatly to oxygen.
We all know Russia is in war which is most likely to lose a lot of its forest which it can lose many other factors that can contribute to happen are deforestation by people, cutting down trees for more resources (they will do it more because they are at war.) For Ukraine which has its forest that are being destroyed, many people would not be able to have good oxygen as toxic chemicals are being released which causes health problems and forests are greatly reduced which increases the chance of more people prone to diseases and health issues.
In conclusion reduction of Russian and Ukraine's forest will be a great loss to our ecosystem.

    11. I agree with Jazzed_apple, trees produce oxygen to help us breathe. Breathing fresh air is important for our survival. breathing polluted air could make you sick especially young people because they are still developing their systems

    12. I agree with jazzed apple because trees contribute to the oxygen of this planet but most importantly trees are a home to so many creatures and without them they couldn't have a safe abode. But I found out that a pod of whales take in as much carbon-dioxide as 2 amazon rainforests and this got me thinking: we can't just focus on the amazon rainforest, but we also have to stop wailing. In Antarctica, until the 1990 the blue antarctic whale was killed and used for making soap and other stuff. This lost the trust between us and the whales and only a few years ago have the population of antarctic whales gone up.
However, whales help mostly with carbon dioxide but the Amazon has made many homes for many endangered animals and we need to save both. The solution for this is to have 2 organisations of people who help protect the Amazon and whales. One for the land and one for the sea. We need to save both.

    13. As the way paper is made unfortunately cannot be changed and as the world is constantly needing new paper, there is no quick option that can change this over night, however I believe a good solution could be for every tree cut down we could plant a new one so that animals don't lose their homes and humans will still have the amount of paper that they need.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about the relationship between Trump and Putin. I've heard that " Trump says he's spoken with Putin as Russia's war in Ukraine approaches the third anniversary" from CNN. In addition, I feel that this is affecting the ways that things are in our country. Meaning that we feel that Trump is leaning more to a dictatorship and a command economy. And I would love to hear what anyone else thinks.

    1. And not only trump that was supporting Russia, but Elon Musk was also helping by donating some money to support them and a lot more things that people helped in Russia and also making a hub discussion, in my opinion, would have a lot of debates and a lot of different opinions too. So, I guess it's going to be a great idea to make this hub discussion post because it would have a lot of opinions.

      Thanks for reading, Topical Talkers!

    2. I agree that Trump is leading towards a dictatorship. Someone in one of my classes once asked if America is communist. It seems to me like Trump is leading towards being communist without being communist. Because Communism is shown in america as a very bad idea so if Trump is going down this path he must make sure he looks capitalist to avoid suspicion. If he is caught he will be thrown out of power very quickly which is obviously not what he wants.
I feel bad for Americans like you having him as your president as in a nutshell he believes he is better than anyone else, a hero who is going to save the world. And this is going to cause him to get involved in every war and try and insert himself in, making everyone listen to him as he thinks he is always right. This is going to escalate the war and push it into world war territory. If it becomes a world war, few everyday people are going to want to fight in it. This and the better technology we now have will cause the war to be mainly bombs. Nuclear bombs are going to be dropped and the world will slowly be destroyed or at least changed forever.
In a nutshell, Donald Trump is an evil man who thinks he is going to save the world when in reality, he is going to destroy it.

  • I think we should look at how it affects all of us because on February 26, the Ukrainian government and Ukrainian minister Mykhailo Fedorov asked Elon Musk on Twitter (or X) to provide Starlink assistance to Ukraine. Musk responded by using SpaceX to activate country-wide service, with the first shipment of Starlink terminals arriving two days later on, February 28. I'm concerned because, currently Musk is threatening and seriously considering taking back Starlink's assistance and forcing Ukraine to give their land to Russia. Can I get an opinion from someone from Ukraine or Russia?

  • I think it's time for us to talk about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. But instead of just discussing the problem, let's focus on how we, as young people, can help bring peace and understanding to the situation. We can share our ideas, listen to each other's perspectives, and learn from our differences. How can we use social media, cultural exchange programs, or other initiatives to promote peace and reconciliation? Let's start a conversation on the Hub and explore ways to make a positive impact. I'm excited to hear your thoughts!

    1. Hello! I hope more people get interested in this topic. I think it would be very difficult for us to help, but I also think there should be a lot more education about wars. By means of initiatives such as speechs, people could be educated about these problems (more specifically between Russia and Ukraine). Campaigns can also be done to help people or refugees finding a way to begin a new life; however, I think that would be looking a bit far away, because, from my point of view, the main problem is education about international conflicts and wars. I think if we want to help in this conflict, we first need to understand and receive education about it. When we have talks at school, most of them are about violence, security, and social media. I do think that these problems really matter, but I think, having those speechs, we lack education about wars and conflicts. (Except for own initiative) we barely know (at least in Spain) about how are this situations caused and managed, and I think if we want to make the world a safer and better place, we first need to know about it.
I am here to listen to your thoughts!

    2. I agree with you. Although we are young, I think our opinion must be heard and valued. And if we are informed since we are young, and like this, we can give our opinion, in the future people will have more knowledge and different persepctives on conflicts.
Well, from my point of view, Ukraine is suffering unfairly just because Putin wants to take over their country. And I think it is a very difficult situation for the families, because they are losing everything, including familiars. They need to move to another country and start a new life, without knowing the language of that country, the habits there, and obviously find a new work and home.
I hope the war finishes soon, and that peace comes to the world, allowing people to rebuild their lives.

  • I think there should be a Hub Discussion on the topic, 'War Reporting in the age of Social Media: Information or Misinformation? How platforms like Telegram, X and TikTok became key war fronts.' The impact of misinformation and AI-generated content in shaping public perception is critical. Nowadays, reliable news reporters who go against the rule of their countries to follow the principles of journalism are nowadays only watched by professionals. The much more attractive options of short form content has engulfed our surroundings, from blindly trusting videos lasting less than a minute and believing in someone's comment about something. The efforts of top journalists often go unnoticed. This just begs the question that, will advancements of AI, generation of fake videos could get alarmingly serious, resulting in people making fake videos of powerful personalities saying something offensive? Recently, I got trapped in a similar fashion, where I believed that the famous 'HOLLYWOOD' sign in California was captured by the wildfires, but the authorities confirmed nothing had happened. Will there be a time when there will be certain organizations which can be trusted for news, and all the AI generations which hurt sentiments of people be completely banned?

    1. I completely agree with bright_horse and strongly support the reasoning and would like to add my views to it.
I too feel that the misinformation spreading in this era by individuals for misguiding the public is increasing day by day.It is a critical issue which needs to be acted upon.I have also noticed these acts of spreading disinformation by many individuals because of which the blindly believing public is heavily affected and their mindset and opinions get shaped differently by these false reports.I have also observed that on critical issues worldwide like Russia and Ukraine war,People supporting either countries are posting A.I generated misleading and offensive information which seems very Due to this the official reporting authorities are getting suppressed and are not receiving adequate attention....That's why we should judge a sensitive matter from both the perspectives and not blindly follow the crowd.
To conclude i would like to say that this would be an exciting and informative discussion upon this topic of A.I domination for the misguidance of information.

    2. I agree, because there should be a topic on how to stay safe from misinformation. Not only that, but as you said, they could use AI to spread misinformation. I also love the example you gave and how easy it is for us to fall into the trap of misinformation.

  • I believe there should a hub discussion about pollution. As contributers to pollution, I strongly believe we should be doing a lot more to prevent or reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions as they are very harmful and affect our environment in a negative way. Such examples are when plants and trees become damaged which are crucial for breathing as they take in CO2 and release O2 which we need to breathe.

There is also an increased risk of heart issues and respiratory problems which is harmful to us humans and we should do our best to make sure this does not happen. If people of all races, age, gender and backgrounds come together and try to resolve this issue, then theres no telling how much we can accomplish together. However, it will take a lot of effort and strength hence I think we should first make everyone aware and start slowly but surely.

  • I believe that there should be a hub discussion about poverty. Personally, I think that poverty is one of the greatest issues and is one of the contributers to crime activity. Living in poverty is an extremely unpleasant thing and something no one should have to go through. Many young children miss out on important yet simple stuff like education, which leads to the literacy rate lowering and they miss out on their childhood which to me is very disheartening.

The constant lack of access to basic needs such as water, food and shelter is awful and I think we as a society must do something to change this for the better. We should donate as much as we can to those in need and be grateful of what we already have. Poverty also contributes to health risks such as heart disease which means many people around the world aren’t living in safe places and may need to resort to violence and crime as their final resort. If more awareness about this topic is raised in the hub then I believe we could make the future a better place for everyone and life would be much more sustainable altogether.

  • I would like if there was a topic about Donald's Trump negations to end the war in Ukraine. He stated during the U.S. election that he will end the war in Ukraine in just one night, which was a lie. However he is trying to end the war as he recently talked with Putin over the phone. He talked with Putin about how horrible are the things happening in Ukraine and how he wants to end the war as quickly as possible. There are many controversies if Trump will continue to give supplies and weapons to Ukraine and if he give doesn't give aid it will be quite devastating for Ukraine as a lot military weapons come from the U.S. Also another question I have is if Trump will give the land of Ukraine that's currently occupied by Russian forces to Russia. This seems a likely scenario, but I don't know if Putin will agree with these terms because if he does it will be pretty shameful for Russia to get just three provinces of Ukraine after three years and this is why I think Putin will want something more like Ukraine not being allowed to enter NATO for the next 10 years plus the in Ukraine occupied by Russia. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, wouldn't agree with these conditions.
Now my question is: Will Donald Trump force Zelenskyy to give up the land of Ukraine that is occupied by Russia and to sign an agreement that Ukraine will not join NATO in the next ten years?

    1. Now, I agree that this meeting between the two leaders is a very important topic to be discussed. What I find utterly absurd is that Trump and Putin have decided to hold a meeting regarding the future of the war, without Ukraine even having a word concerning the war it actually fights in. I mean, it is commonplace knowledge that Ukraine now represents the USA's interests, however, it technically is a Ukrainian and Russian war, not an American and Russian one (in theory, at least, in practice it is a an American-Russian one almost completely). I believe this proves how unbelievable much the USA's influence has affected Ukraine, so much that it does not even participate actively in negotiations about their own country.

  • I think we should talk about the moral and psychological effect of wars in general on soldiers, civilians and bystanders being us and what we can can about it. For example trying put us in the soldiers and civilians point of view and getting people who have experienced wa first had explain their experiences I think it can stir up some good discussions .

    1. 100% agree, 'cause in my opinion, for this topic, public media like movies or books have an impact in disinformation since always, giving us an erroneous point of view of the real war disasters, actually, the idea to put soldiers or whoever person exposed to echoes like this in colleges or spaces for education could be beneficial to help us to comprehend more war psychology.

  • There could maybe be a discussion about the elections that happened recently and now the aftermath. In the US, many immigrants are being chased down, even ones that haven't done anything wrong. I feel like this could be a great discussion because many people are being affected by it right now and maybe people in the hub could share their own experiences and thoughts.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about how wars can affect climate change because there are so many ongoing wars that have been sparked because of a past argument, before people were aware of the effects of climate change. Militaries are responsible for 5.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. If this is just from everyday military activities, imagine that number when there are multiple wars at once. Wars are even more prevalent in places where there is corruption and violence, or where people are at risk. If the people in a battleground are fighting for their lives, the effects of climate change doesn't make it any better. Discussing this topic could bring more attention to it and be able to connect wars/climate change to other world problems as well.

  • A topic that could be discussed about relating to this war would be the citizens' mental health and the crimes.

As there are many chaotic things going on in these countries, there are also working parents and students that wake up everyday and go to work to support their family. This may seem like a small impact on people, but it could be much more affecting than one would think. Stress and anxiety can lead to suicide or deaths and no one will be able to protect them and their family. Living in fear is complicated and with parents trying to protect their children at all cost, it's really hard for them to worry about a lot of things.

Furthermore, crime rates between the two countries has increased as criminals take advantage of this distraction.

    1. Hello forgiving_globe,
I utterly agree with you that there should be a Hub discussion post of how it affects citizens’ of both Ukraine and Russia mental health. However, it can also affect their physical health as well. With this war going on, people are grieving their family and friends which can make them lose confidence and become more miserable in life. There can also be more severe attitudes to losing someone they know such as anorexia, migraines or prolonged grief disorder. So wars in the world do not only affect soldiers in the battlefield; it affects the people they know too. This should definitely be looked into because we cannot just let this happen! We need to do something about citizens’ mental and physical health. And I think we should start with Topical Talk. Thank you!

    2. Yes, i agree. The war does affect citizens mental health which is indirectly related to the rise of crimes. I have heard that the russia - ukraine war has left a huge impact on its citizens' mental health because of the trauma and fear arising due to the unfortunate events taking place. People are suffering from severe PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), depression, anxiety as their thought process is consumed by the fear of displacement, violence and loss of loved ones. This mental disturbance leads them to breach. But it's not mental health everytime, some people commit crime during wars because they lose their living, which makes them do crimes like robbery and looting

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the British Monarchy and its value in the modern world because this might make an interesting debate, especially since many schools and The Economist are based out of the United Kingdom. I also think that this is a valuable question to ask not just British people, but also members of the Commonwealth and the rest of the world.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the Israel-Hamas war because my friend and I recently got into a friendly argument over who is in the right in this situation. My friend claimed that Israel had the right to defend itself from Hamas and since Hamas was hiding Israel had the right to try to get rid of them by bombing them even if it meant hurting civilians and that since Hamas abducted innocent Israelis they had the right to fight back. I claimed that Israel was not just simply bombing Hamas but also bombing innocent citizens who did nothing wrong plus most of the time the bombs do not even kill the Hamas members not to mention that the Israeli army also sometimes purposely targets innocent Palestinian citizens and health care systems which is a war crime even if it means stopping Hamas. In the end my friend and I still stuck to our points of view however now I want to know other people's point of view on the Israel-Hamas war.

  • I think that the topic of paranormal sciences is one of the topics that not many people know about because it contains mysterious things that have no scientific explanation, so I want to discuss these questions in the student centre so that many people can learn about them, which are:
What do you know about paranormal sciences?
Do you think that a subject should be added to the study of paranormal sciences within the curriculum schedule?

  • I think that there should be a discussion about how Ukraine wants to join NATO, but Russia is very against that idea. I feel like this is a pretty hot topic currently, and is just by itself really interesting to research about. Russia has been almost "threatening" Ukraine into not joining NATO because of what a huge impact it can do to not only them but other countries too. But in my opinion, it's really a matter of time until they join. So I think it would be interesting to hear about other student's thoughts from all around the world.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about how the war in Ukraine is hurting kids because they don’t deserve any of this. Kids in Ukraine have lost their homes, schools, and even their families. Some of them have to live in really scary places and don’t even know if they’ll be safe tomorrow. That’s really sad. On the other side, kids in Russia are also going through hard times. They are being told things that might not even be true at school, and it could make them really confused about what’s going on.

It’s important to think about how we can help all the kids who are suffering because of this war. Maybe we could raise money for them, send them things like toys or books, or even help build safe places for them to go where they can feel happy again. We could talk about how everyone, no matter where they live, should work together to stop hurting kids in wars.

This is a big problem that can make kids feel really sad, and I think it would be good for everyone to talk about how we can make it better for them. What do you think we can do to help the children who are stuck in this situation?

  • I think a topic which should be discussed is the situation for the normal people in Russia. There’s so much disinformation in Russias state media which influences and distorts the Russians’ perspective on the conflict with Ukraine. For example the big believe in the Russian population is that NATO started to attack Russia in Ukraine and the Russians offensive is only a response to the attack. This is of course completely wrong. Of course this topic has something with Russia being a totalitarian state and undemocratic so the government wants to influence the people’s believes. This is a big problem for the Russian population and also contributes to the war always going on.

  • I always feel extremely overwhelmed when thinking of the subject. Learning about the first and Second World War in school, I often forget that there are still wars going on in the world because I can’t comprehend how somebody or a country could wish to cause so much pain and distruction to peoples homes. I can only imagine how awful it must be for people to see their whole world falling apart around them. Being associated with “the bad side” must also not be easy, because even if you don’t agree with your politicians decisions to declare war on a different country, you will most likely still be put in a category which supports war, death and destruction. I am not in contact with anyone who is going through the transition of living in one country to another, but I am extremely interested in reading all of your comments and experiences, because I think this is one of the most important topics to learn about. What can you say from your own experiences or story’s from friends or relatives. And do you think other countries should help more in situations like the war between Russia and Ukrain. I am exited to read all of your thought and opinions.
    Thank you.

    1. I would like to add, that I have two nationalities and this often leads to people reassuring thing about me. It is very frustrating having to listen to what some people assume about me. I also feel conflicted when my two nationalities compet in global sporting events because people always say I have to choose a side. I think it would also be extremely interesting to know how people with both the Russian yet also the Ukrainian nationality feel during the war. Do they struggle with their identity, whilst having to be stuck inbetween the two counties. What if they have family members in both countries. I think there is a lot, that people presume about other people and I would love to hear all your thoughts about the matter.
      Thank you very much.

  • I think we should have a discussion about the relationship between North Korea and Russia because North Korean troops have been spotted helping Russia. This in the past has been a sign of war between multiple countries as taking sides in war that doesn't involve you is wrong.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about how shall the falling world economy shall be controlled because the war has led to great percentage of inflation, rise in the price of basic necessities like food and water including things like oils. The countries far away from the war are facing problems even without any participation.
This is a major problem all over the world, and especially in Ukraine where its economy has just fallen down rapidly. The recovery rates are also gradually falling down. It shall be brought to an end to help the world economy regrow and get back to its stable position.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about climate change because this is the number one big problem that are happening to the world we know and how the world can change and consequences of these can be extreme like environmental degradation, natural disasters, weather extremes, food and water shortage, and more. This can in fact make the world's living things instinct and everything we know today will most likely be gone to the fact .Young people or older citizens should all see and change something about this. If everyone can get on to this then we can change this problem.

  • There should be a hub discussion about how Trump is trying to release an executive order to get rid of "illegal immigrants" when he is really trying to get rid of immigrants who got naturalized. He is also trying to get rid of the children whose parents aren't from America and if he tries to do this he is going against the constitution and he is breaking the law. Sadly people have been getting deported whether it is by ICE when they are using a warrant or if ICE is dressing up as people like a mailman or a delivery man. When they do this they take the people if they are illegal or if they look like they are not from this country. Even if they aren't from this country but if they were naturalized( green card) they are still considered American citizens and you can't deport citizens. This is starting to become a big issue, especially since google maps has changed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Trump should definitely be stopped and he is gaining more power as we speak.

  • I know about the war between Russia and Ukraine. Russia was wanting the Ukraine's land so that this war started. this war started in 20 February 2014 . Russia was destroying Ukraine's hospitals and building so Ukraine had a good idea, they build hospitals undergrounds so Russia cannot destroy it or even know where is it. This war made Russia's and Ukraine's land as a haunted, abandoned and empty land. Environments also was damaged by this war because this war was extremely strong. Many people was in the war like journalists, doctors and writers. This war stayed so much months and years. Many countries have helped Russia and Ukraine during their conflict for example, the United States has sent supplies and food to help people in Ukraine, whilst china has been buying more goods from Russia to support economy. On February 24th 2022, Russia launched a full scale invasion on Ukraine. Within a month, Russian forces captured their first major city in Ukraine, Kherson

In past, over 30 years old Russia and Ukraine were as one country. Russia and Ukraine were part of a much bigger country called the Soviet Union. The Soviet union was enormous and very powerful country. This worried some other countries, including America the most powerful country in our world now, so these countries crated a group called NATO(the North Atlantic Treaty organization). The countries in NATO agreed to protect each other and stop invading them from Soviet Union .

I think that if there wasn't any war this world could be better than now.

  • I think we should discuss two things, "what the social media shows in wars" being the first, as I think social media only is biased, and only shows what it wants you to know, for example, American civilians now all over everywhere are saying that the infamous platform called "tiktok" changed to being very strict, and doesn't show them 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜. And that happens the most for wars, the owners of platform are biased, weather this or that country, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮'𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙞𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙, because that's just the way things go, unless you live in a country where there's war you 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙐𝙇𝙇 𝙏𝙍𝙐𝙏𝙃. I also think because we don't know the truth, we don't know the facts, we don't know what anyone is thinking too we shouldn't speak about the matter with such confidence, and educate ourselves first.
And for the second topic, I think we should discuss the impact of wars on neighboring countries, actually, as soon as I saw the topic headline I was sure there was going to be that topic but to my surprise it wasn't there. But it's a very important matter that should be discussed, for example, egypt, as the war caused a food crisis, no, 𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯 𝘌𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘰 it, when it was late 2022 Egypt relied on the international Monetary and took a 3 billion loan.

  • I think there should be a discussion hub about UBI's (universal basic income). UBI's is a system where all citizens receive a regular, unconditional cash payment from the government, has become a topic of increasing debate. Some arguments in favor of UBI's include:
    -reduction in poverty
    -economic stimulus
    -increased entrepreneurship
    -automation adaption
But some arguments against UBI's include:
    -high cost
    -potential for inflation
    -reduced work incentive
    -inefficient resource allocation
The debate surrounding UBI is complex and involves economic and social considerations. Proponents highlight its potential to alleviate poverty, stimulate economic growth, and improve well-being, while others concern for it's cost. The debate necessitates considering alternative solutions, and understanding the trade-offs between different approaches to addressing poverty and inequality.

  • I suggest holding a Hub discussion on "The Role of India and 3rd World Nations amidst war" with special emphasis on socio economic and international relations.

What is the impact of this war over developing nations especially India, how it will influence their economy, how global political relations can be defined and moulded with respect to current situations.

Also we can know clearly India's stand over the entire scenario and her position as peacemaker can be understood.

  • Hi everyone,
I think we should discuss about humanitarian crisis and refugees, because, during the war between Russia and Ukraine has forced a lot of people both in Russians and Ukrainians to leave their homes and travel to another country to save their lives and their family. This is a serious issue that we should all talk about in the hub.
    Thanks

  • I think there should be a hub discussion about how agriculture can be done easier, faster, more conveniently, and also about how people can participate in farming activities. This practice will provide more oxygen thereby reducing the depletion of the ozone layer. We can do this by practicing afforestation more than deforestation because, we need to provide enough oxygen in the environment, and less carbon dioxide. Where carbon dioxide is more than oxygen in the atmosphere, it may pollute the air and cause health issues.

  • Hello Topical Talkers. In my personal opinion we should have a discussion about how social media can brainwash kids and even adults especially on the battlefront where people can be clearly biased and give misleading information about the war and the political situation. Also the news can have different views for example BBC will give many different sources and say something completely different about the war in Gaza or the Russian Ukraine War. With social media getting to deep into individuals brains , everything on any platform whether it's X TikTok or Snapchat ,most things that people see and believe could be generated by A.I. and this is a critical situation for that individual and potentially damage their mind and they will become naïve like a young child. In 2025 there are a large amount of unreliable news reporters reporting wars and not really unfolding the reality of the situation. Politicians in the news can lie and for example say that they will send aid to a warzone like Gaza but they never and UNRWA has to send aid instead. Doom scrolling (never taking a break from Social Media) is also a massive concern to our brains and on TikTok for example with the short form videos most things on there is A.I generated which makes you falsely believe what it is and it feels like your in an infinite loop of never ending videos which impacts a persons intelligence. Studies show that short video to do with scrolling impact you more than long form videos. Thank you Topical Talkers.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about how the Russia-Ukraine war is reshaping global alliances because it's not just affecting the two countries involved but also shifting political, economic and military relationships worldwide. For example, Sweden and Finland joined NATO is response to security concerns, while Russia has strengthened ties with China, Iran and North Korea for economic and military support.

  • Our Us president is trying to bring peace between Ukraine and Russia this makes me wonder what have they been fighting about all these years.A fairly small piece of land? What do think about the war which country do you side with most and people who live in either country. What is your experience? How as your and your loved one's life even affected? Lastly, Do you side with you motherland country or opposing country?

  • I strongly believe that there should be a Hub discussion post about how wars affect children and future generations? Imagine growing up in a country that involves in wars often, what impact would that have on you? Do wars always lead to peace?
For example, in Syria, children's schools are destroyed, they are NOT getting the proper education. They are the future of the country, but they are not given the "right" atmosphere. By right, I'm referring to how their thinking might have developed since they are growing up in an atmosphere which is far from suitable for children! Their innocence and opportunites are destroyed. Adding on, we can also have a debate on this question- do wars always lead to peace and a better future? For solving one problem, we are creating many. I really think this can be the right topic to hash out.

  • I think this is completely wrong, Russia shouldn't be doing this as Ukraine have done nothing wrong to deserve this and no lives should be put at risk. Russia is a giant country so I don't think that any more land will benefit them much more. I think that Ukraine should give Russia a bit of land just to settle the war and put no more lives at risk. I believe Donald Trump should move forward with this so that Ukraine and Russia can be peaceful again.
    Thanks for reading this.

    1. I completely agree with your statement as it is horrible what is happening to the Ukraine but i disagree when you said that Ukraine should give them a bit of land as the Ukraine owes Russia nothing .If it is the only thing that would stop the war then i suppose it is necessary but Ukraine was dragged into a war for no reason and shouldn't end the war with its land cut into fractions. No hard feelings of course.

      1. I agree that Ukraine should give up a small peace of land to help move the peace talks and help protect the innocent people suffering from the war, because nobody truly wants this war its draining for both sides. I believe that Russia should have never done this and they are in the wrong completely but at this rate if Ukraine keeps trying to fight russia things will get worse for both sides and what is the plan if they push Russia out of Ukraine, to keep going? I just can't see that helping in anyway really, however maybe I'm wrong.

  • "I think, having a hub discussion post on preventing wildlife trafficking and poaching would help raise awareness and encourage people to take action. This is because wildlife trafficking and poaching are disrupting the balance of nature and the environment. They are leading to the extinction of rare and endangered species. A discussion on this topic would raise awareness a help find effective solutions. Through this, both the species of the animal kingdom and the number of animals are decreasing, crime is increasing, and there is a risk to human health. This can be stopped through strict law enforcement, raising awareness, alternative livelihoods, and nature conservation."

  • Hi everyone
I think we should all discuss about Peace, prospects and negotiation because when they two country should come together to have a peace talk among themselves, if the two country keeps fighting without settling their differences things will not walk out and it will leads to damages and lose of property and lives, this will lead to shortage of citizens in both country.
we should also talk about the main obstacles to achieving peace in Russia and Ukraine war and what will they negotiate to be able to settle their differences.
    Thanks.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about trying to stop all the wars that are occurring in many different places around the globe. In addition, I believe that there is no significant reason for wars, as they just end up with losses for the two opposing sides... no benefit!

Wars are literally life-threatening to many people, that include men, women and even small infants! Just imagine a young toddler losing one of its parents just because of something that is not his fault, In fact, from my point of view I see that wars are related to politics, so it is not logical to provide danger to innocent civilians just because of a political problem, just an argument between two countries.
There should be regular peace conferences in all countries so that governments and presidents get a chance to discuss what is happening in the world and what could plbe the most suitable solutions that would not include violence.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion about how Trump is saying every NATO member has to invest more money on defense, not only because it is related to the war in Ukraine but also because it would be interesting to discuss how this could affect the countries and if it could result in tensions between the USA and some European countries. For example, Trump recently said that Spain was a BRICS nation (which it is not) because he thinks countries like Spain aren't doing enough or are more interested in China and India and are having closer ties with them than with the USA. So Trump could list every country that doesn't reach his expectations as a partner of the BRICS and impose tariffs on them to stop them from getting closer to China or India. Maybe, if Europe doesn't agree with what Trump says, a trade war could erupt which would be negative for both parts as we rely on each other, especially for trading goods. Trump has a lot of power and has demonstrated that trade wars can open many doors so I don't think he would be afraid to do the same with some European nations. Moreover, I think that spending 5% of your GDP on defense is almost impossible for the majority of countries so it is possible Trump knows this and just wants to create tensions and more instability in Europe so maybe his anti-establishment allies that would do whatever he says, get more power and therefore the USA's influence on the continent is re-assured.

    1. Do you think Europe should spend more on defense, even if less than 5%, to reduce its dependence on America?

      1. From my point of view yes. Spending 5% of a country's GDP on defense is difficult for some european nations, especially considering that the largest countries in Europe have also the highest national debts which makes reaching the 5% target challenging. Nevertheless, these countries have made cuts on defense since the 2008 crisis which could mean they could be getting dependent on the USA or falling behind the rest of the world, so maybe they should start reinvesting on their military. If Europe invests more on its defense, we could be more independent from the USA and make Russia, Morocco and other countries less of a threat. Military independence from the USA would also allow European countries to have a significant role in global decisions. For example: as the talks about ending the war in Ukraine are taking place, no representative of a European country has been invited to these discussions as they aren't seen as important by the USA and Russia. Moreover, I also think that if we want the EU to be a beneficial thing, politicians should focus less on regulating and bureaucracy and more in developing or innovating and trade like other global powers are doing. To sum up, if European countries are actually concerned about their population's safety, they could invest more on ways to defend the population from foreign threats like Russia or Morocco and to defend their economic interests as well as the common values we may have like liberty. With a more powerful military, Europe would regain its status of global power and decision-maker.

  • I think that something that I've seen in the news recently is the negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Putin ( Russia's president ) and Trump ( US president ) are doing negotiations to end the war soon; however, Volodymyr Zelensky ( the president of Ukraine ) is saying that if Trump makes negotiations with Putin the war won't end and Zelensky will continue fighting. I think those speeches will make a bigger war; hence, I wanted to suggest a discussion which gets people thinking "What will happen next ?" will Trump try to persuade Zelensky to accept Trump doing negotiations with Putin so the war ends? Or, Trump will make the negotiations without the acceptance of Zelensky which can also start a massive war including the US versus Ukraine?

  • I expect a hub discussion on why the most prosperous countries like Russia are fighting for more and more land even they have millions of sq. kilometers land already. They are not letting small countries like Ukraine live peacefully. Discussion on why big countries start a devastating war and collapse the economy and the government of small countries. They suffer form crisis, students are not able to study safely and the citizens are always in a fear of getting blasted by a bomb.
We should support Ukraine and praise there bravery

  • I think there should be a hub discussion about Russia - Ukraine war .This war has taken millions of life and has made the economy suffer. The people are leaving both the countries to go to other places as refugees . Many factories and facilities were destroyed due to which many green house gases were released. Russia now controls over one- fifth of the Ukraine . This war has also affected children’s education and their mindset . Many news channels have declared that humanity is in crisis and there are nuclear concerns . The UNHCR has decided to help people who have escaped the country and to even help people stuck in conflicts . This war has affected Ukraine nuclear zones which may lead to global warming . So I hope that this war will end soon .

  • I think there should be a conversation about knife crime as it is a very big thing.
In the discussion topics such as how there are risks on knife crime and the impact on society. One reason i think this may be a good topic is because it will educate others about what is going on in the world and can also raise awareness.

  • i feel like other countries shouldn't get involved in the Russia & Ukraine war because thats exactly what caused both WWI & WWII. When Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia in 1914, Russia and Germany got involved, and this is what kicked off into world war 1. WW1 caused 40 MILLION casualties, and it was such a large scale that it was referred to as 'The Great War' and 'The War to End All Wars'. Therefore, I believe Trump should not be trying to get buddy buddy with Putin, and other countries should NOT try to fight alongside, simply supplying Ukraine with food and materials in this hard time.

  • I think there should be a discussion about animal testing as many people online talk about it and raises high controversy, should it be banned? And should their rights be prioritized over scientific advancement.

  • After much deliberation I have concluded that we should discuss the topic of social media and “Has the internet made society better?” Many people will have different opinions on this and it will spark brilliant debates and allow people to share their thoughts and views on this topic.

    1. Interesting idea - do you have an opinion on this topic?

      1. Yes I believe it has helped society as a whole because we can now communicate easily and quickly search any information needed but it has also negatively effected people through social media and there are lots of links to isolation and loneliness due to bullying on social media platforms eg snapchat and tiktok.

  • I think there should be a discussion on whether Russia or Ukraine is correct and what would you do if you would be in place of Russia 🇷🇺.This gives us chance to represent our own perspectives and also reflects of leadership skills.

    1. Thanks for your suggestion. I think we should talk about the news, facts, opinions and experiences of people wich are involved in this awful war. You said we should discuss wether Russia or Ukraine is "correct". I dont think that this is a good idea. Especially europeans don't want to be included in the war in a bad way. You can hopefully undertand what I mean, because my country (Germany) for example is supporting ukrainien people to defend theirselves againt Russia. Our biggest fear is (also of many other countries in europe) that at some point Putin also wants to attack us. So I agree with you at some point, because - yes - we sould talk about it, but to say that someone is "correct" and the other party is "incorrect" can cause a discussion with can lead to big turmoil in europe. So that's a problem with causes fear in europe and should not be discussed this way.

  • I think there should be a discussion about how shall the post-conflict development be done, especially emphasizing the infrastructure. Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, along with the loss to environment, economy and people, infrastructural loss had led to people not getting basic necessities like food and water. Around 4 million people there are facing the problem of scarcity of clean drinking water and barely any food. This is just so inhumane, so it shall be discussed amongst the topical talkers to find the ways out.

  • Hi Topical Talkers
First, I would like to ask a question that I think is very important: What are the lessons learned from the Russia- Ukraine war?
The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for a long time. It is a very complicated situations, there are some important lessons that we learn from this conflict.
one of the most important lessons is that war is never a good solution. War always leads to suffering and destruction. It is important to remember that the people who are fighting in this war are not just soldiers. They are also farther, mother, sons, and daughters. They are people who have families and lives just like us.
Another important lesson is that we need to be careful about the information that we consume. There is a lot of misinformation and propaganda out there, and it can be difficult to tell what is true and what is not. It is important to be critical of the information that we receive, and to make sure that we are getting our news from reliable sources.
Finally, we need to remember that we are all human beings. We all have the same basic needs and desires. We all want to be safe and to have a good life. We need to find ways to communicate with each other and to understand each other, even when we disagree.
The war in Ukraine is a tragedy. But it is also an opportunity for us to learn and to grow. Let's us hope that we can learn from and this conflict and that we can find a way to create a more peaceful world.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion post about "climate change" because major factor which is affecting our Earth's condition there are more like greenhouse gases, global warming, Ocean acidification, drought, extreme precipitation, temperature rise this would be unsafe to humanity because of these more than 250,000 people have died due to this climate change so this should be a great hub discussion to start we can discuss what we think about this climate change and what are all the action we gonna do we can share it in the hub because many of them might have different types of suggestion to reduce this climate change

  • I recently read a news article about the assassination of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi. His life story resembled that of journalists who have gone into exile due to threats from their governments. He was assassinated by a team of Saudi agents. The remains of his body were never identified, which may have sent a chilling message to foreign governments and media. This, in my opinion, opened a path for debate regarding the security of people in foreign countries. The amount of government surveillance over individuals is concerning. This is essential in some cases where they kill people for good, but forcefully killing a journalist for exposing the truth is unjustified. The Saudi Arabian government deemed his killing a move to bring him back to the country to face trial regarding unfair criticism of the government. This might have been a scare tactic for those who rebel against authoritarian regimes. This case could be connected to the current situation of Russian journalists who might be poisoned or killed at any moment. This act by the government dents the principles of investigative journalism by abusing those who reveal flaws in its system. I think the establishment of a department, in collaboration with NATO, the UN, and BRICS, regarding journalist safety is the solution. This will ensure that human rights are not violated for doing their job. Such incidents could be prevented with global recognition that free media is necessary for all countries. The story of Yulia is yet another example for those who would live in fear of being killed over doing their jobs.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion on " Should government control what the media say?"....
In many places the government do not want their journalist to speak or say a particular news story, so they do hurtful things for example kill them, harass them, exile them, imprisoned, tortured, etc.
This dreadfully reduces the number of journalist in a particular place, this discourages people to join the media team and makes people live in fear of being killed. Even the ones that are still in there will be under the government which makes them report things that are not true. This can cause disbelief for people and would not know what is happening in their country or would not know real news.
This will cause a big stir in the country for example if a country puts up a curfew from 2am- 5pm then a journalist says 1am - 4pm. People who are buying things or visiting someone might get arrested, or something bad might happen to them.
In conclusion it is a bad idea for the government to say or choose what journalist are saying.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion on biases, its impact and how to work through it. i believe it affects how we view news stories, how we judge what others say. For most people our perspectives are coloured by our biases.

  • Ukraine's president Zelensky has proposed the idea of European countries (probably the member of the EU) forming a common army for defense against the various threats around the continent (Russia, Morocco...). Zelensky is not the first person to say this as Macron already said the same at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So, I think there should be a Hub post about how possible this is, if it is a good idea, its consequences and who may be against it. Poland has already said it is against this idea, probably because they invest a lot of money on their military and do not want to support other countries. I think this idea has its pros and cons. First, this army would probably be one of the biggest and most powerful armies in the world which would guarantee the security and safety of Europeans and their respective nations and interests around the world. Europe's importance would probably increase and more decisions could be taken which is something that is not happening now. Europe would become militarily independent from the USA and some of the most innovative countries in the development of weapons would work for the same army. The problem with this idea, is that every country would lose its independent arm forces and would depend on other countries. Moreover, bigger nations would have to support with money, weapons and soldiers, smaller and weaker countries which may be controversial. Furthermore, it could be difficult to manage that army (with different people, cultures and languages) over all Europe. I think it could be beneficial if done well.

  • I think there must be a hub discussion post about the other wars in the world for example about Isreal and Palestine. I think that this war is very important that we have to talk about. And as we all know, the war started many years ago and till now is still there is a war. So I thought that there must be hub discussion post so that we can give them solutions to both country. From my point of view, I see that Palestine has the right to live and do whatever she wants because its her own country. Imagine we living happily in our countries then in just a moment happiness turns to sadness and your own country is not yours now. Annoying, right? Of course, yes.

However, some people also they that they see that Isreal is not wrong and it is doing the right thing but I respectfully don't agree with that because it is UNFAIR to take other one's country and say " Oh, it is mine. Let me tell you why. Well, can you remember when we were young and we go to someone to visit him for example? Do you also remember when you take the toy of the child in this home and say that this is yours. All of ours mothers do the same action which is shouting for us to let the child to take it. So this is the same with Palestine but what is different is Palestine doesn't have the person to return their " toy".

To conclude, I want and I think that there must be a hub discussion post about other wars especially Palestine and Isreal.
    Thanks

  • I think there should be a discussions and talks between Vladimir Putin and the president of Ukraine to agree to stop this bad war that burned a lot of trees and plants. Most people don't know what happened in people and our environments, it were damaged in a bad way from the war. The Russian's scale invasions was very strong and burned a lot of trees.

There should be hub discussions between them and if they agreed our would be better than now.

  • My question is which country do you think should get the land Russia or Ukraine?

  • I think that there should be a Hub discussion post about why power has become a bare necessity for countries where they are willing to put their people at risk for their own benefit. For example in the Russia-Ukraine war, Russia started the war because they wanted to rebuild the USSR in order to gain power. As I researched more and more about this topic I realized that Russia has not been transparent to their citizens and telling them something completely different from the real truth which shows their determination to gain power no matter what it takes. I also looked at other topical talkers' responses and realized that the people fighting in the war that get injured have to wait years in order to receive the proper aid. To me this clearly shows that some countries are willing to put their people at risk or even be dishonest in order to gain power.

  • A topic from the latest news is the topic of the emergency summit in Paris; European leaders are holding an emergency summit about the discussion Russian-Ukrainian war and their continent's safety; as well as, UK Prime Ministry Keir Starmer says that he has no issues sending troops to Ukraine.

On the other hand, there are American-Russian talks in Saudi Arabia about ending the war soon; however, the president of Ukraine Zelensky is saying that he won't agree to any conditions of the peace if he doesn't participate.

So, kindly, what do think will happen next in these agreements and terms knowing that Russia and Ukraine were friendly to each other before?

  • I think we should talk about global warming.

    1. Can you give a reason?

  • I think there should be a hub discussion about what are the impotant long term consequences on the global politics and international relationships of the Russia Ukrain war. This is because thinking of far reaching effects of this conflict can help us navigate its complexities and think of potential solutions.
Some topics could be explored for such as:
How the war could influence the balance of power amongst nations and religion?
What might the conflict have implications on diplomacy and international law?
What impact the war might have on trade relationships and global economic system?
By examining these questions we can have a better understanding the Russia Ukrain war's potential and significance to shape the world in which we live.

    1. Interesting ideas accurate_papaya - what are your thoughts on what impact the war might have on trade relationships and global economic system?

      1. Sorry for a late response.

Russia Ukrain war may impact trade and economy by:
        Disrupting supply chains
        Increased energy prices
        Reducing economic growth
        Causing market volatility
        Shifting global economic power dynamics
These are just few impacts. But the actual effects will depend on various factors, including duration and intensity of conflict, the resilience of global economic system and responses of government and international organisations.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the long-term consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on global security and international relations because understanding these potential impacts could help us better navigate the challenges that may arise in the future. This topic can spark engaging discussions on how the conflict might reshape alliances, introduce diplomacy across countries, and affect the world's overall security landscape. By examine different perspectives and possible scenarios, we can develop a deeper understanding of the complex nature of the situation and it's possible implications for the global community.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion post about the role of international diplomacy in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict because it includes a thoughtful examination of peaceful solutions and cooperation among nations to address the ongoing crisis. This topic allows us to explore the potential of negotiations, sanctions, and other diplomatic measures in influencing the outcome of the conflict while fostering a deeper understanding of global political and conflicts and conflicts resolution strategies.

  • War is sad. People lose their homes families. i hope it ends soon so everyone can be safe and happy again.

  • I think there should be a dissection about whether or Ukraine should be let into NATO I have heard from many people that if they are let in the war will end very quickly. On the other hand I also saw on the news that one of many NATO representatives have publicly announced that letting Ukraine be apart of NATO is a bad Idea. I think this should be a discussion because it is very relevant to the current events and topics.

  • I think there should be more conversations about the Middle East, as it is a region with a long , rich history and still relevant today.

  • I think a good discussion to start would be crime and how a country responds punishment wise. One example i think would be good to talk about specifically is the death penalty due to its controversial opinions. I do also think that we should discuss what crimes happen to cause the death penalty and whether its to harsh or a good response to stop crime. I wonder also if we could include statistics on crime since the death penalty in the countries that have it, to see if the death penalty stops crime.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the long-term strategies to stop the war between Ukraine and Russia because long-term strategies can give time for people in a policy making and international leaders to discuss or debate on what should be done to stop the war between Ukraine and Russia so that they will live in harmony together again in the Soviet Union and so that other lives may not be lost during the war.
Ideas that can stop the war between Russia and Ukraine are:
    1. They should stop fighting and calm down so that Russia and Ukraine's president can sit, discuss and resolve the problem.
    2. Ukraine can promise not to join NATO so that Russia will calm down and feel safer.
    3. Russia can send aid and money to help Ukraine rebuild their city and treat injured people after the war.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion post on the topic russia Ukraine war about ' should ukraine drop the idea of joining NATO in current situation in exchange of peace from russia.'
The major reason why Russia started a wall against Ukraine was the idea of Ukraine joining NATO. But this war has led to great destruction in the whole world but majorly in Ukraine. According to research it is said that Ukraine has gone around 40 years behind. This means that it would take Ukraine around 40 years to recover the infrastructural, technology and economical losses. Ukraine is losing the war in the current situation despite the support of different countries.
This war has led to the destruction of around 1500 schools, 25000 km of roads, around 1000 hospitals and many more resulting in an overall infrastructural loss of $400 billion. It has led to the unemployment of millions of people.

But on the other side, joining NATO will also provide its support to develop, and will decrease the threats of further wars in ukraine, but is it worth it.

How long will ukraine be able to hold back the superpower 'russia'?

I think this would be a great and important topic for deliberation.

It will give new ideas for what should be done in the current situation. And help us research on the severe losses faced by ukraine and Russia and who has been affected the most from this brutal war

    1. Why do you think Ukraine might have wanted to join NATO in the first place?

  • I have noticed a problem in India, the reliance on foreign defence equipment especially aircraft, that seems to have no solution. Over the years, I have heard about the expenditure on importing military aircraft—$10B to be exact. This lack of inventory poses risks such as; with countries increasing tariffs, prices could reach a saturation point, increasing aircraft prices. This increase in federal budget is unsustainable. Having little to no insight into foreign engineering can lead to the equipment becoming outdated sooner. The main reason for this is the diverse issues the government has faced since independence, ranging from caste prejudices to gender inequality and border concerns, forcing it to invest its precious money in addressing these issues. For example, $1.38B has been spent on borders of Northern India. It is a pity that money spent on engineering colleges often leads to talent settling abroad, perhaps because of less lucrative jobs or the status associated with living abroad. Several programs like "Make in India" have had minimal effect. The majority of appliances are imported from China. Now, if we look at the situation in Ukraine and Syria, they have a chance to avoid the same problems. By eliminating factors that could hinder their future quickly, they could become more efficient. Countries often inflate the prices of military equipment due to its rarity. If Ukraine manages to find a way, it could invest in education and healthcare. Identifying and avoiding the mistakes of other countries is crucial, as Ukraine will have to invest every penny thoughtfully.

    1. I strongly agree and support your reasoning and too feel the same.India has been dependent and relied on foreign equipments and products for a long time and about 70% of India's military equipments are shipped by foreign manufacturing units.India has been buying defence equipments mainly from US,France, Israel and UK.Also on further research I came to know that India spends approximately $200 Billion to modernize the defensive equipments. Also you might think that why is it a big issue. The main problem is that until india has strong foreign relations with the leaders,India will be able to access the current generation Armaments and defensive equipment but if a situation arises where india has conflict with a country whos an older alliance of Weapon suppliers of India,The weapon supplying country would obviously not destroy its own older relations and in that case,India would be left with no choice.Thats why India should increase its innovation about the Manufacturing and improvement in the Armaments and defensive equipment/weaponry sector to minimize the dependency on foreign countries.
To sum up,I would like to state that India should start manufacturing its own equipments to minimise the dependency and be prepared for any circumstances or for the worst cases.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion post about how the Russia Ukraine war has changed the way countries think about war and alliances because this war is not just about two nations , it has forced the world to rethink its diplomacy , security and even technology. This discussion could bring out different viewpoints on wars in the modern world shape the future.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion post about who initiated the war and what are the necessary measures that should be taken into care to stop the war because the war has become a problem for the people living there. The harsh conditions are making their regular lives difficult so there should be a conclusion on this topic..

  • Hello !

I think there should be a hub diccussion post about "Should education be free and available to all or is it the person's responsibility to be able to afford/recieve it?"

This topic came to my mind while I was commenting on the topic "What should be done about education?" While researching I got to know about the inhuman conditions of people in Ukraine and the distrupted education system. My sister was selected to have a meeting with Ukranian students through a school program and what they told shocked me. They said they had to go to their bunkers as soon as the alarm went on and the call would be automatically cut. That was when I realised during war, crisis etc. many students get affected and they lack behind education than the rest of the world, but it does not matter to other countries if these students later apply for jobs there. This case is seen with many poor countries too. Where the poor can't educate themselves or their children they are forced to work tirelessly under the riches for minimum wage. This us leads to the point- If the unfortunate can't revieve education is it not our responsibility to give it to them? Afterall if they educate or become someone big they will bring glory to our own respective nations. As the children are the future of the country. If we want the world to boom, we need to take care of them and their education. Sometimes it feels like after W H O we also need a W E(education) O to take care of these major problems related to education, and to make sure education becomes a right and not a privilege.

    Thank you !

  • I think there should be a discussion on “friends or foe “ because personally I can’t understand the purpose of Russia to get back Soviet Union . Is it to get the friendship back or is it just about land and the conquering. Or does Russia want the country more bigger. It is a very Versatile or say a discussion on which maximum views can speak out.
    Thank you

  • I think that there should be a hub discussion about how unemployment affects the growth of a developing country. Although skills required might be a bit difficult but people not being given even a chance is incorrect. Some depict skills out of financial backgrounds and not potential but this is wrong. So I think there should be deeper hub discussion regarding this, studying this topic in detail.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion post about HEARING A DIFFERENT OPINION FROM BOTH SIDES. I say this because lately through the news and perspectives, I have recalled that a whole lot of people think that Russians are at fault in the war without trying to back it up with facts but just their various opinions. I am not saying that they are wrong or right, I am just expressing my utmost feelings.
So, exactly what am I saying and trying to express? I am simply saying that we need to hear opinions from the both sides not just one side. In case you did not know, the backstory of the cause of the war was that Ukraine and Russia made a treaty, Ukraine then broke out of the treaty and Russia attacked. Who is wrong? who is right? That I do not know.
Most people do not know this but just speak based on hearings or their personal opinions.
In my country, majority of the people believe that Russia is wrong and some of those people are very influential towards the others and so this their works influence them greatly. Also one thing that is heard spreads around like a wildfire from person to person.
In conclusion, NEVER EVER LISTEN TO ONE SIDE OF THE STORY BUT ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE BOTH SIDES BEFORE TAKING JUDGEMENT. This means that hear the Russian Government and the Ukrainian Government talk on their own different opinions.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about how Russia- Ukraine war is going to end. This war has taken many lives and caused many problems like displacement, economy fall, disruption of education, food crisis, destroyed infrastructure and affected global politics. After all this damage, what can be done to stop these countries from worsening things further? How will this war come to an end and how will that affect other countries? What positive change could be seen if this ends? What will happen to the people who have suffered during this war and how can we help them? I believe these questions are interesting and can have many creative solutions, they will enhance our creativity, imagination and problem solving skills. So, I strongly believe that we can hash this topic out!

  • The topic we should be discussing is how this all started and how unintelligent this is. It all started because Russians wanted something they couldn't get which shows their greed and lust. This shows that Russian is a bad place to be in they get into wars because of their lust and greed. Which is a dumb desicion that they keep making and its getting problematic.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion about how social media has become a place where russian misinformation is spread and the impact this propaganda is having on the West. At this moment there are many people who have started defending the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and think that Putin is a heroe and Zelensky is a villain for wanting to defend his country. I think it is surprising that many people and politicians who dislike ilegal immigration and want to protect their country's borders and sovereignity, don't think Ukraine has a right to defend its borders. However, it may to soon to judge how some people are acting now. Trump recently critized Zelensky, I don't agree with this message but it is true he may be trying to appeal to Putin in order to stop the war. Trump promised to stop the war, he may be trying to avoid further conflict and sending money to Ukraine. Nevertheless, many people follow Trump's words and russian propaganda, so they could fall for what Russian wants us to think. In recent years, Russia has interfered in the politics of many countries (USA, Germany, Spain, Hungary...) and propaganda could be one of the tools they are using for this. This is the importance of news, information and social media nowadays.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the reasons for the war. We'll probably realise there was a wish for power because the president of Russia wanted to have a bigger country than his current one. I think it would be a very good hub to know the opinion of different students because I think many persons have different ideas on this subject and there must be different reasons to begin a war.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the US elections because that was very interesting to study . There are a lot of things to study related to Elon Musk's new political role. I'd love to discuss that with the students on the hub.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about the biggest issue of this time- cyber crimes. Beyond financial losses, cybercrime can also cause reputational damage, resulting in job loss, difficulty in finding new jobs, loss of customers and decreased revenue. In some cases victims may also face legal consequences including huge fines or lawsuits and even imprisonment. I think this is actually a serious problem to discuss upon, solutions to cyber crime should be discussed and awareness about cyber crimes is also very important.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about - "Outer Space Militarization : A protocol for safety or a rising threat ? " First, I would like to brief about what is outer space militarization- it is militarizing or weaponizing space using satellites or other equipments.

With a rising risk of World War III due to two major conflicts major countries like USA, China, Russia and France having acquired the peaceful domain of space, these nations claim it to be just for extensive safety and not causing any harm, however with rising tensions across the continents many nations are posing trials of these weapons while many are developing the same. Soon space will be crowded with not just junk of satellites but satellites holding the potential of destroying a country as a whole.
These satellites could either be used to create a better and secure future or result in a dreaded present. Many countries can use this for not just safety reasons but also provoking another nation and starting an outer space war. The biggest problem with outer space militarization is that they can not be precisely monitored by any body like UN and can target each other at any point in time.
Just like its disadvantages it has various advantages as well as militarizing outer space could predict a rising tension beforehand and these satellites can potentially stop illicit activities and save the Earth from the grips of violence and war.
But the real question would remain - "Would this militralization just be a safety protocol or a fuelling threat in the future ?"

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the role of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, known as NATO, in the war between Russia and Ukraine, as Ukraine is one of the countries that aspire to join NATO and NATO recognizes it as a country that aspires to join them, while Russia is not a member of NATO, and the role of the European Union in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Do you think that NATO is a neutral party in the war between Ukraine and Russia or does it lean towards one side over the other?

    1. Interesting thoughts venturous_chemistry? Do you have an opinion on this question?

      1. From my point of view, NATO was not neutral, but rather took the side of Ukraine, although it is still a country that aspires to join them and has not yet joined NATO, and demanded Russia's complete withdrawal. It also imposed sanctions on Russia and its allies and provided Russia with a lot of aid and support, whether military or humanitarian. This is what made me say that it was not neutral.

        1. I disagree because NATO is right and since Russia is the aggressor NATO is supposed to protect Ukraine, why may you ask? Well if Ukraine is taken by Russia it will be a MASSIVE threat for NATO since Russia is extremely capable of capturing Europe, and it has been a threat for the Europeans and Britain since the cold war.
Moreover, Britain's approach is to fight Russia now through Ukraine instead of a full out war with them.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion about the elections in Germany that are going to take place. Germany is the biggest democracy in Europe and whatever happens in it may affect the rest of the European Union. Many powerful people (Elon Musk, J.D Vance...) have talk about this elections. This could be a turning point in politics and for Europe as topics like the war in Ukraine, nuclear energy, immigration and so have been discussed. Moreover, the possible surge of the Afd ''far-right'' party would be an unprecedented event, even though all the german parties have promised not to collaborate with them. The results may not surprise anyone but the importance given to this election is because of all the events that are happening at this moment. Nevertheless, many voters are still undecided, could there be a surprise, will Germany and Europe continue doing things like now or will they follow another path? We will see.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post called: What Can We Do About It? We can help Ukraine in this war but we just need to find solutions. This is why I think this would make a good post; together we can come up with answers to this issue. For example, we can brainstorm ideas to see how we can assist Ukraine in it’s time of need- such as sending out soldiers, lending them money or giving them food and shelter. But we know that we can do that already and have done it, so participants in Topical Talk can come up with more creative ideas like mentally preparing them in an enjoyable way or sending out workshops to gradually prepare children for what is ahead. We can help Ukraine in fun, creative ways that will motivate them to win this war or find a way to stop it. The only thing we need is more ideas- specifically from the students in Topical Talk. Thank you!

  • The most significant issue which the whole world is grappling with is Climate Change. Excess carbon emissions have led so much of pollution that now it has initialised to eradicate our historic monuments. If it goes on the same way, one day we’ll end up breathing polluted air and pollution would be our atmospheric blanket…

  • A new, concerning event in the war between Russia and Ukraine is what the newly elected cabinet of Donald Trump is doing in terms of giving aids to Ukraine, as under the Biden administration, and what the US's standpoint to Russia is.
The contradiction here, is whether the US is on Ukraine's or Russia's side, as Trump has talked with Putin via telephone about further steps in this war, ignoring and not including Ukrainian parties to participate, showing their proximity. J.D.Vance, Trump's vice president, though, claims that the US government can impose new sanctions on Russia to put pressure on Russia to stop the war.
Concluding, the news about the Trump administration and it's position to the war is still in some points ambivalent and contradictive, which might be concerning, regarding the US to be a powerful and mighty country, which is able to shape the future of this conflict.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about what can we learn from wars like, the one happened in Syria, or between Russia- Ukraine, to prevent future wars? Because we all know the root reasons behind these wars, so how can we understand them and find a solution to prevent other such unfortunate future confilcts?

  • I think there should be a Hub Discussion on the topic "What are the undeniable ethical implications of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence on our privacy, job security, and the critical decisions that shape our lives?"This topic is crucial because the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is reshaping our society. Discussing its ethical implications helps us understand how AI affects privacy, job security, and decision-making. Engaging in this conversation empowers individuals to safeguard their rights and ensures that technological progress aligns with our moral values. Addressing these issues now is vital to prevent unintended consequences in the future.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about what's the role of private companies in wars? Like, there is a post by spectacular_climate concerning the role of SpaceX's role in Ukraine war. Also, is it right for private companies to interfere in wars? Is it okay if a private company provides services in these types of conflicts? What impact can this action have on future wars? I think this smaller discussion should be paid more attention to.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion about how after many years of disagreements; why does Russia turn to the US to help create an agreement to end the war. I say this because it is very relevant to the topic and also it could play a very major role in whether the US is going to join the war or not.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion about How to stop the war between Palestine and Israel. Thousands of children, women and men die without sin. All their fault is that they are Palestinians. Schools, hospitals, homes and the country's infrastructure have been destroyed. There are people who have no food, no shelter, no water and no safety. There is no whole family now; some have lost their mother, some have lost their father and some have lost their children. They were brutally murdered without mercy. Where are the human rights? Where are the children's rights? Where are the Women's rights?

To conclude, I hope that the war ends between Palestine and Israel because all the countries are affected and innocent people in the war are also affected.

  • I think there should be a discussion on hub about how media bias effects the way the Russia and Ukraine war is being reported. Its really interesting to see how different countries news tell the story in their own way. Talking about this could help us think more critically about the news we see and have better debates about what really going on and It would be cool to explore how some focus more on facts while others show personal stories or political opinions.

  • What are the pressing ethical implications of the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, particularly about privacy, job displacement, and the autonomy of decision-making? This is a crucial conversation that demands our immediate attention and thoughtful engagement.

  • I think that we should have a discussion about environmental problems, more preferably global warming or deforestation. I got this idea from the user jazzed_apple, they had an amazing point. Deforestation and global warming is becoming more and more of a problem. Along with the trees, air is decreasing. With more global warming the more animals habitats are going away. These two environmental problems are harming both the earth, and different species including humans, and something should be done about it.

  • Russia and Ukraine relations are getting worse by the second.
I think to solve this, America needs to stop this war as Donald Trump has said.

  • This war should be stopped,In my opinion it should have never started. Russia is a huge country which needs no more land, I believe that its pure greed that they want more land, Ukraine have done nothing wrong and do not deserve this war to take let alone of it going on for 3 years and shouldn't have their lives put at risk because of Russia being greedy wanting more land even though they have enough.

  • I suggest the conversation on the subject of how both sides of people feel about the war.

  • I think there should be a discussion about the administration and regime in North Korea. We've studied and discussion about the Assad family's barbaric rule on Syria, so maybe we should hash out about Kim Jong Un and his dictatorship on North Korea. I had studied about this abit, and it was all very foreign to me! If we discuss about this, it will be very interesting and thoughtful. It will be very helpful to develop our problem solving and creative skills!

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about water scarcity and sanitation. Shortage of water has become a huge issue in places of war. Water is essential for every living thing, but unfortunately very few are receiving clean and fresh water everyday. It is very important to discuss how can we stop the wastage of water and always take care of sanitation. Everyone has to work together to end water scarcity. Millions of people ( mostly children) are dying due to certain water borne diseases and due to poor sanitation and hygiene. The government should also take some action and make some laws which can reduce water scarcity and improve sanitation and hygiene all over the world.

  • I think there should be a discussion on how much oil the middle east can produce. I think this is a problem because this is letting the middle east have more priority and getting richer at the second. This also could create a problem with coal production over the rest of the world. Even though there is a good side to it. The oil production in the middle east helps everyone all of the world

  • I highkey think there should be a Hub discussion about how blue whales are being endangered! Blue whales are the BIGGEST animals to ever exist and continue to be. But what about the danger that surrounds them? the reason of blue whales being endangered is none other than climate change and water pollution. Climate change continues to haunt not only blue whales but many other species that are threatened to go extinct, this really saddens me. Now comes the point, what can we do to save these poor lives? Blue whales are not only fascinating living being but they help keep the entire ocean healthy; they play a great role in balancing the ecosystem! So, I'd like to say that this topic is definitely worth being hashed out.

  • I think there should be a hub discussion post about securing the future of journalist and citizens of the Russia Ukraine war. This war has gone too far by the persecution of journalists and innocent civilians too. People involved in this toxic war are innocent civilians and innocent journalists. Their lives need to be secured because they have the right to know and to tell the theworld and let citizens give feedback on what is happening in their society. Journalists are people who are closest to the civilians, their there in other to tell us what is going on in and out of the country, I don't see reasons for them to be persecuted because they are doing the right thing. They are more like the safest way to talk to the government to tell them what citizens want form them and what they are expected to do because no leader is expected to be chosen without the happiness of citizens. This topic or suggestion can other wise be termed as security of journalism.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion posts about the effect of the war in Ukraine and Russia and the effect on other countries like U.S that want to help Ukraine. I say so because the war happening there is not good and if the U.s want to backup Ukraine and the country start to loose their resources in the process of helping Ukraine in war time. So I think that we should discuss how to prevent a country from loosing their resources and materials.
    Thank You!!!

  • I think there should be a hub discussion of the topic "imapct of social media on news we see" I chose this discussion as in this world of growing social media, most people tend to believe everything on it without even giving it a thought. We don't realise most of them are fake and misleading. We all unknowingly spread this misinfo to others too via internet. Honestly thats the whole agenda of people who share mis-information about sensitive topics like wars, disasters, threats etc. They want you to become a victim and believe them and also share it to others. They do this for mere "publicity and fame" but do not understand how it may effect a common man in unexpected ways. Like-developing fear, civil turmoil, economic losses, loosing faith in democracy etc. Ex-During Katrina hurricane misinfo was spread that Caesar superdome is the best place to hide. Resulting in many going their only to find lack of resources. But at the same time social media also helps us in learning about something quicker. As it has real-time news, is widely used and regularly checked, it can provide access to official documents and resources. Updating us about what is happening around the globe. As there are some people who report truthfully and do not compress the truth for "publicity" like Yulia Starostina. Who helped us learn alot about Russia even in exile. So we need social media too. If we cannot cut it out completely we can get info from verified websites, counter check multiple news, use our own brains and not believe everything etc. If we do these practices this problem would not arise.

  • I think an interesting and influential Hub discussion on Russian-Ukrainian War could be to look at Russian people living abroad and their challenges of being judged. Most Russians who aren’t living in Russia are against their government’s decision of beginning a war, yet still have fear of being judged because of it. It’s very unfair to label people from where they come from; it wasn’t even their choice! As a young generation, how can we make the citizens of Russia who are living abroad feel more comfortable and not discriminated?

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about health. Everyone has the right to be healthy and get access to proper health facilities.Half of the world’s population is not receiving the essential health services they need. They cannot afford healthcare. We should discuss about it and try to find solutions about it which can be implemented to reduce inequality in the field of healthcare. We should be actively involved in promoting and protecting global health.

  • Something should be done about the war in Ukraine. Even though Russia doesn't want Ukraine to join NATO Ukraine still can. Volodymyr Zelenskyy should be able to listen to the people and let them join NATO without Russia saying the can't since Ukraine is not part of Russia anymore. I saw in the news that the USA is on Russia's side and I thought shouldn't the USA be on Ukraines side. This should definitely be put to an end.

  • What happens when diplomacy is overshadowed by ego? The recent meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy regarding a mineral deal for military supplies gave us an striking example and saw the withdrawal of US military aid, temporarily. Throughout the meeting, Trump and Vance's attitude towards the interests of Ukraine was rather inappropriate, contrasting tones along with strong questioning.

The lecture left no doubt that Trump sees Ukraine as one of the parties in negotiation, rather than a democratic ally. This leaves Ukraine vulnerable as their biggest lifeline throughout the war is gone. Zelenskyy's challenge would be to gain US support as soon as possible.

Ukraine, which is fighting against a stronger opposition, needs constant support. European nations like Germany, Poland and France have been vocal abut his deal, and they need to support Ukraine through its toughest period. One challenge European countries have to face is the hesitation of countries like Hungary to support the war. This could affect the European response?

I believe that this meeting will allow powerful countries to exercise power unfairly. If this approach continues, other countries have to reshape diplomacy. This will also lead to Ukraine being forced to sign a peace deal favoring Russia as its support is wavering.

The dictation of international relation by the personal egos could increase the suffering of people. This meeting wasn't a diplomatic incident: the question is will Europe rise or Ukraine is alone in the future? Should political leaders prioritize peace over political grandstanding?

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about equal rights for the disabled.
According to the WHO, over 1 billion people have some form of disability and they have less access to work and education opportunities. It is everyone's right to get access to education and work. These are human rights, disabled people are also humans, then why are they not treated equally? Why are they not equal to everyone else. It is not their fault that they are disabled,it is our duty to not make them feel inferior.
I think this is a very important topic to discuss upon. We should discuss about the solutions of this problem so that disabled people can get equal rights and justice.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the ongoing conflict in Sudan. It is a severe but really very underreported conflict. This civil war is causing extreme violence and destruction to the country but still no one is talking or concerned about it. It is now being called as the "forgotten war" because the media has not been able to make the world aware about this conflict.
In my opinion, this would be a great topic to discuss upon.

  • Hello !

I think there should be a hub dicussion about "what will happen to refugees from Russia and Ukraine war? Is poverty in other countries their problem?"

because even though countries like Germany, Poland and welcoming refugees with warm hearts no one can help them fully. As helping refugees might affect the economy of the country itself too. people of that country might not like refugees to stay and the funds of development be spent on them. Though there might be people who will accept refugees and understand their situation. They might not be safe in other countries too. Facing regular threats or menaces. Those countries can always send them back if they want to leaving their future undecided. The country might conscript them later for their own wars in return.

The refugees who were rich in their country can become poor and dependant as they'll loose their hard earned money in the war. Their life might be in misery and their children will lack education. This situation and stress might led some refugees to the path of crime. Making them serve jail time if they get caught. The trauma and regular hastle may make them want to sucide. That is just heartbreaking.

All this because 2 presidents decided to go on war. Now all the common people suffer. This point is widely ignored. If we talk about journalists, doctors, conscripted people why not common man and refugees? When they obviously are suffering the most. Its time we change things and spot some light on the struggles of common man.

    Thank you !

    1. Do you think it would be fair to conscript refugees after all the struggles and dangers they have already endured?

Can you think of any positive effects of immigration?

  • In my opinion, I think that there should be discussion on the impact that Trump makes on the war, especially after the clash between Trump and Zelensky at the White House. Ukraine has been "surviving" this war and kept on fighting, demonstrating an immense courage, but with the arrival of trump, Russia's president Vladimir Poutine can take the advantage of the war with Donald Trump by his side.

  • I think we could talk about e-waste.It is a world wide problem as,it contaminates land, water, and distrupt ecosystems.the cause of e-waste is the improper disposal of electronics. the catch is that the all e-waste can be recycled ,but only 12.5%of them are recycled.

  • I Think we could have a discussion on vanishing languages of our world. Over 40% of our world’s 7,000 languages are considered endangered, with many facing extinction in the near future. This phenomenon is driven by factors such as globalization, urbanization, and cultural assimilation. As people increasingly adopt dominant languages like English, French, or Spanish for better economic and social opportunities while smaller indigenous languages are being abandoned. This not only leads to the loss of linguistic diversity but also the erosion of unique culture, traditions, and identity. Many endangered languages carry specialized knowledge of local ecosystems, plants, and animals, and their loss represents a significant gap in understanding biodiversity and according to UNESCO, a language dies approximately every two weeks, and more than 500 languages have fewer than 10 speakers. Efforts to preserve and revitalize endangered languages include language documentation, education programs, and government initiatives aimed at supporting bilingualism. However, the rapid decline of these languages continues, with a growing need for global recognition and more effective preservation strategies.

  • "Should the United Nations intervene militarily to stop the conflict, or would this worsen the situation?"

I chose the topic of UN Intervention in the Russia-Ukraine war because it's a critical and complex issue that raises questions about the role of international organizations in conflict resolution, the potential consequences of military intervention, and the moral obligation to protect human lives.

The pros of UN Intervention are:

    1. Protecting human lives: UN intervention could potentially prevent further loss of life and alleviate humanitarian suffering.
    2. Enforcement of international law: The UN could enforce international law and hold perpetrators of war crimes accountable.
    3. Stabilization of the region: UN intervention could help stabilize the region and prevent the conflict from spreading.

The cons of UN Intervention are:

    1. Risk of escalation: Military intervention could lead to more violence and instability.
    2. Sovereignty concerns: UN intervention could be seen as a violation of Ukraine's sovereignty, potentially undermining its government and institutions.
    3. Logistical challenges: Deploying UN peacekeeping forces would require significant resources, infrastructure,

Because there are several pros and cons of UN intervention Ultimately, it will be very challenging to determine whether UN intervention should be implemented or not, as each argument has its merits and drawbacks.

  • The sanctions imposed on Russia by other countries to support the end of the war are a strong indication of global unity. The effects of these sanctions are being observed by the people of all countries. Russia, which accounts for one-tenth of oil and gas exports, has soared the prices of these exhaustible resources.

With strong sanctions, it may be the best time to adopt something like a "solar revolution," increasing renewable energy sources, which will have several perks. Dependency on oil to produce commercial and industrial electricity would reduce, stabilizing gas prices. Secondly, this will give Russia a reality check that the world can survive without its oil.  Recent concerns about sustainability could be addressed.

This large project cannot be accomplished by one country. It will require an international pact, like the Paris Agreement, obliging countries to produce a certain number of gigawatts of renewable energy. I think there should be an institution for this, as innovation in this industry will be beneficial. Countries can collaborate with the private sector to increase solar panel production, as the private sector produces 80% of them.

One factor that could hinder its purpose would be global politics. If powerhouses like America (which has withdrawn its support from the Paris Agreement on climate change) are unwilling to support the actions of Europeans countries like France and Germany.

Renewable energy may well be the medicine that will help the world and counter Russia's crimes against humanity.

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the impact of geopolitical tensions like the Russia- Ukraine war have an effect on global supply chain (a global supply chain means the manfucaturing and transporting of goods on a global level). If we talk about how the Russia - Ukraine war , it has disrupted not only its education system but also the supply network internationally. I recently read in the news that Ukraine is a major exporter of food (especially grains) but the ongoing war has disrupted these exports, which caused global food prices to rise; mainly in developing countries (Brazil for example). By discussing this, we will understand that how wars do not only affect the matters happening inside a country, but also things happening outside like the global supply chain!

  • I think there should be a Hub discussion post about the challenges faced by South Africa, including poverty, unemployment, corruption, and inequality. This is a serious issue and is important to discuss upon it and find the solutions to the crisis faced by South Africa. The condition of South Africa is getting poorer and poorer which should not be. In my opinion, every part of the world should be equal in every way, either be healthy, education, economy or anything else, and all of us to work for it together.
    Let's make the world equal!
