I found this quiz very informative and learned a lot of new things about the history and current situation between Russia and Ukraine. My score was 8/8, and it helped me understand main facts about the conflict.
A new fact I got from this quiz is that Ukraine became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991 and over 90% of the Ukrainians wanted independence. This shows that most people in Ukraine support their country to be a separate country. Why? For years, Ukraine had it's own identity and culture, but it was controlled by larger empires, including the Soviet Union. Many Ukrainians wanted independence because they had their own language and traditions that were different from Russia's. During Soviet rule, Ukraine faced harsh policies including famines like the Holodomor in 1930s, which killed millions of Ukrainians.
Another big point is that in 2014, Russia took control of Crimea, which many countries, including NATO, said was illegal. Even though Russia still controls Crimea today, most of the world doesn't accept this as legal. This fact is important weather countries should respect and follow international laws.
Right now, Russia controls about 20% of Ukraine, which shows that the war is still ongoing and very severe. Many people have lost their homes and have suffered from great losses.
In conclusion, this quiz gave me useful facts that I can use in discussions about international conflicts and politics.
I agree because at least 45 million people have fled from Ukraine.
The claim that 45 million people have fled Ukraine isn't true. Roughly 7 million people have fled Ukraine since 2022. This is, of course, catastrophic and destructive numbers but nowhere near 45 million. You may have made the mistake of referring to the pre war population of Ukraine which did sit somewhere around 45 million. Whilst speaking about events such as the Ukraine War it is important we maintain the facts and use the real numbers in our arguments otherwise we are prone to corruption and deception.
I agree because... the war between russia and ukraine has been going on for years and as we all know russia is significantly larger than ukraine so 45 million people will quickly turn to 100 million people fleeing the country
I agree because... Russia origonally owned ukraine
yes but ukraine can choose if they want to become of an another region if they would like to because Russia does not control ukraine
This is very sad but I know that Ukraine has taken a county of Russia but most of Ukraine is invaded. This all started from Russia’s president Vladimir Putin planning to restart the Soviet Union by invading and taking over Ukraine. All of the EU is helping Ukraine which is why they are so powerful. Vladimir Putin planned a suprise attack on Ukraine and didn’t expect Ukraine to respond.
I agree. Russia planned to quickly invade Ukraine but it took longer than expected.
I know that in the Russia Ukraine war, Russia wants the rich land that ukraine has. These materials include titanium and uranium. I think Russia wants this land because number 1 it would give access the rest of Europe for trading purposes. Russia would also want the land because, like I said Ukraine has rich materials in the soil.
I would add to your comment that officially, according to the Russian authorities, the current conflict/war was started due to approaching conversations by the Ukrainian side to join the European Union (EU) as well as the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation). This was interpreted as a provocation by the Russian government, as this act would have moved the border of EU/NATO countries right next to Russia, which was classified as a threat to the souvereignity of Russia and should have lead to the now ongoing war.
It cannot be excluded, though, that the beginning of the war was a result of Russian aggresion and was therefore for personal gain in form of the Ukranian territory for Russia, which would secure some positive aspects for Russia, such as gaining raw materials for example uranium, as You mentioned in Your comment.
This is part of the reason but not the entire purpose, in 2022, NATO proposed to have Ukraine join it, but this would be very bad for Russia as it would be literally like having your enemies in your backyard. It was wrong for Russia to invade Ukraine, but it would also be wrong to generalize Russia as evil.
I agree because when looking at Russia's geography it is kind of bad because they can't ship from most of their coastline because it is either too cold or the sea trading territory is being controlled by other countries like the Istanbul canal that is controlled by Turkey requires money to go through it. They can also barely farm for the same reason, the land is just too cold. Plus Russia is basically surrounded on all sides by countries that want to destroy it and its capital is very close to NATO countries like Finland. So capturing Ukraine would give Russia access to some great farmable land and trade spots.
The Russia-Ukraine war, a conflict that emerged in February 2022, continues to rage in 2025. The war's root lies deep into history and geopolitical factors. Ukraine wanted to be a more influential country and have strong ties with the western countries. However Russia had different plans for Ukraine, it wanted Ukraine to be under its influence and did not Ukraine to become an ally to Russia's enemies.
Currently Russia has occupied 20% of Ukraine but this number varies daily due to the ongoing war. Ukraine has robust backing from the USA and the EU. There are rumors that Donald Trump might bring an end to the war within 100 days according to numerous sources.
This war has disrupted the energy supply globally and is affecting global economic growth. World leaders must join hands and bring ceasefire in this war as in the end it's the common man who has to suffer , not the political leaders.
**"You’ve summed up the situation really well. It’s heartbreaking to see how this war continues to impact not just Ukraine and Russia but the entire world, especially in terms of energy and the economy. The fact that common people suffer the most while political leaders make the decisions is such an important point.
If Trump or any other leader can actually bring an end to this within 100 days, that would be incredible, but it’s hard to say how realistic that is. Hopefully, world leaders can work towards a real and lasting ceasefire soon because, in the end, peace is the only real solution.
I disagree cuz Ukraine is using 36.6% of their GDp
I agree with you confident_coyote. The quiz gave a lot of info on the war i got 8/8 in the quiz and i learnt that Russia invaded Ukraine on the 24 February 2022 and currently controls one_ fifth of Ukraine.
This happened when over 90% of the soviet union wanted to separate and Russia being the largest country did not want to separate. After Russia tried to force control over Ukraine but Ukraine refused to and Russia invaded them.
I do agree with the fact that leaders around can stop the war if they work together. If all leaders provide the materials needed to solve the problem it can stop and eliminate the war.
Thank you
I know that in antiquity, Russia as the USSR controlled the area that was Ukraine and much more. After the USSR’s fall after Cold War, Ukraine was liberated.
I was surprised to get a decent score of 6/8, as I thought that the war between Ukraine and Russia only started in 2022, but I wasn't informed that there were past arguments between the two...
I also learned that Ukraine has been under the invasion of Russia on its lands, moreover, I felt very concerned for Ukraine, as it has witnessed several devastating scenarios. BUT, this does not mean that the Russian people are "bad", it is just the government, in fact, Russian journalists have been trying to report what is happening in Ukraine.
I believe that this war does not only bring losses for Russia and Ukraine, but it actually effects most countries, including my own country, Egypt. Since the start of the Russian- Ukrainian war, the cost of bread and other pastries in Egypt have been rapidly increasing, and this is a major concern that was the result of the war, because Russia exports most of Egypt's Wheat crop. So during the war, Russia has stopped exporting wheat to Egypt, which led to the increasing of the bread prices. I think that this is a sufficient piece of evidence that proves how a local problem could effect countries from a totally other region. This was what I have got to experience in my country as a result of the Russian- Ukrainian war.
I got a 4 out of 8. I didn't really expect to get a high score because I'm not that involved in news and it's been a while since I've heard anything about the conflict between these two countries. But, this quiz helped me understand a lot of what happened since I only knew that a war had broken out. I think its better if I was more involved with things like this because it really does seem interesting to learn about why this all happened and I hope someone can relate.
I completely agree with you discreet ocean(also got a 4 out of 8). I never really realized the cause of the war and how behind I was in the actual topic until now. The quiz opened my eyes to see that there was a history between Ukraine and Russia and that history was the reason why the Russia-Ukraine war started. This of course made me excited again to learn more about this topic as at first I was not interested because I just thought that it was just another war that was going on. The quiz really did help me obtain new information about the Russia-Ukraine war while also helping me realize the importance and the reason behind it.
I agree with you, discreet ocean, because I also do not watch the news very often. Because of this, I only found out what had happened in the war during the lesson. I feel sorry for everyone suffering in this war, and, unfortunately, both sides have lost many. The journalists are being severely punished if they say something bad about the war or the Russian government. The Ukrainian citizens have to take shelter or seek asylum from other countries. Those working in the medical department have to help the injured everyday. The children are being deceived by the Russian government and do not have the tools we have. The teachers can not breathe a single negative word about the war. Those in the army but refuse to fight are penalized. I hope that, one day, this war will be over and peace will be given to both Ukrainians and Russians.
Hello topical talk,
today I will introduce a lot of information such as Russian and Ukrainian war, soviet union, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), cold war and finally, the controlment of Russia on Ukraine which are all important topics and will be explained below.
At first, there is something called the Soviet union which is a group consisting of 15 countries forming one giant society which was made because of the world communism revolution one of them being those two countries. Ukraine wanted to join the NATO which is also a giant society, but turned against Russia and its threats but this would make the Russian borders dangerously guarded by USA and its allies
so Russia refused and offered agreements with Ukraine, but they also refused and from here was the lowest point of relation between NATO and Russia since the cold war ( a war between soviet union and USA which was right after the world war. Although the wisdom of their president of Russia Vladimir Putin which with his power can destroy Ukraine in one day but he is merciful as he is pushing into Ukraine a bit by a bit and he now acquires 20% of Ukraine
Hello
the ware between Russia and Ukraine has had major impacts on the entire world ,all of which unfortunately have negative impacts, such as a significant increase in oil and energy prices, which has affected the cost of living in the world, since Russia and Ukraine are among the largest exporters of wheat and grains in the world, the war between them has affected global food security, as economic growth, and many many negative impact, whether on the country, the people, and their natural lives, which cannot be practiced in light of war. But what attracted my attention most is the use of artificial intelligence in war. For example, and the simplest of these is the use of drones. This is considered one of the negatives of artificial intelligence which should be a source of progress for humanity, not its retardation, and that it should be in the service of humanity and not against it. Unfortunately, this depends on man's use of it for his personal purposes, and I believe that all of these negative and diverse effects of war on the world will continue for many years.
The war between Russia and Ukraine began 2014 and escalated dramatically in February 24, 2022, it is a complex and ongoing conflict happening before all this happened, Russia and Ukraine were peacefully together in a union. The Soviet Union and other countries feared them because The Soviet Union was very large, after some time Ukraine started becoming friends with other neighboring countries and when this happened Russia didn't like it at all so they planned on attacking Ukraine and started firing missles that destroyed a lot of things and destroyed schools and then Russia took over a part of Ukraine called Crimea but other countries helped Ukraine like America because they were helping Ukraine with food and amination, countries like China brought accessories in support of Russia.
People in Russia and Ukraine are required to fight. The people don't care what you're doing, if you're of age then you have to fight. Soldiers work all day, they aren't able to get any sleep. If soldiers get hurt, it would take them up to a decade to see a doctor or heal. Also, doctors are leaving the country since everyone is at risk. This war is putting everyone in danger. If they've had a life before, they don't know.
I scored a 7/8. In this lesson, I learned about how people with different occupations in both Russia, and Ukraine are treated and the challenges they face. I also learned about how this war affects many lives daily. This lesson really enlightened me about this war because most of the stuff I learned, I was completely blind to. One thing new to me was that in 2014, Russia took control of Crimea, tho it was illegal. I wonder if there was any response to this? To come to an end, this lesson severely educated me about the topic of the Russia-Ukraine war and I wish to learn more.
Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 and it has affected both countries severely. In Ukraine, many civilians suffer from many injuries, but doctors aren't able to help them because they're busy with wounded soldiers. They also have very poor education, and students are below the global standards. Russia also has these same problems. There students are severely under the global standards in education. Russia suffers from many problems as well as Ukraine and yet they are still at war.
I know that on February 24th 2022, the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out and created a major conflict between them. It all began when Russia's leader ,Vladimir Putin, decided to invade Ukraine causing major destruction and loss of homes. Ukraine and Russia created a truce-like company called Soviet Union. This was so big and powerful that some countries like America were worried. This group of countries were known as NATO(North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.) In 1991, more than 90% of voters chose to become a new country, separate from the Soviet Union. All this information came from the video and the quiz. The war has been going on for nearly 3 years now and people are still suffering from poverty and discrimination.
My personal knowledge about the Russian Ukraine war has increased over the years, I have analysed the news and different sources , also I have met a few people from Ukraine and asked them about their personal opinion on the uprising war. I know that the war didn't really properly start in 2022 it had roots back to 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and it was claimed that Putin wanted Russia back to it's 'former glory' and also Russia were not happy with Ukraine's new leader (in 2014) Petro Poroshenko and since Russia disliked this idea and did not welcome him they started to annex Ukraine. Petro Poroshenko also tried strengthen ties with NATO and try to join the European Union and become a member of both Political groups. Then after covid in 2022 basically everything had escalated when Russia started a siege on the Ukrainian people and government and as Russia claimed the eastern Donbas region that particular region wanted some form of independence calling themselves the Donetsk Peoples republic and south of Donbas was the Luhansk region also claimed by Russia declared independence. This invasion links to the collapse of the Soviet Union and how powerful and productive it was before the 1980's and the early 1990's and every good would go to Russia and they would supply it to other Soviet areas if they wanted to and Russia in it's former Soviet Union times did not treat Ukraine really well for example most pf the Russian Nukes actually belonged to Ukraine but Ukraine made an agreement with Russia to hand the Nukes to them economic motives also was a reason.
A few things that I know about the war with Russia and Ukraine is that one Russia has been trying to annex Ukraine for land for decades which is the reason for the war right now. Another thing that I know that has been affected by the war is kids education. According to my research on the internet about 600,000 kids are now not reserving a face to face education. This situation in Ukraine is pretty similar to the Covid-19 situation that kids in America had to deal with for about two years. But lucky for the kids that evacuated to Poland they are my force getting an education.
What I know about this topic is that Russia and Ukraine are at war over a piece of land that will change either of their trading industries.I also know that Ukraine wants to join (NATO) which would end this war quickly. This war has also been going on for three years on end. lastly, They both used to be in the Soviet union but when that fell in 1991 they had a big disagreement about the land I am guessing they used to share.
The Russia-Ukraine war is like a giant storm that won’t stop, and it’s making everything so scary. It all started in 2014 when Russia took over Crimea, **just like** stealing a toy from a friend, and since then, things have **suddenly** gotten worse. In 2022, Russia started a huge fight, **like** a big bully picking on someone smaller, and **that’s when** everything exploded.
The war has caused a lot of hurt, **as if** a tornado were tearing through houses and families. Many people, especially kids, have lost their homes, **just as** if their house was blown away in a hurricane. Some kids can’t go to school anymore, and that’s really heartbreaking. It’s like the world is a big puzzle, and pieces are getting lost every single day.
Ukraine is fighting back bravely, like a hero in a story, but Russia has a bigger army, so it feels like fighting a dragon with a slingshot.
What’s really sad is that so many innocent people who just want to be safe, are getting hurt. It’s like they’re caught in the middle of a game they didn’t ask to play. Incredibly, no one knows when the storm will end. Some people say it could take years, which feels like waiting forever for a rainbow that never comes.
In the end, this war isn’t just about two countries fighting—it’s about the lives of people, like kids, who only want to feel safe and happy. It’s like when you just want to play and have fun, but everything around you is chaos. We all need to work together so that this storm goes away and everyone can be happy again.
I agree because the reason Ukraine is fighting back and has so much strength is because the whole of Europe helps. Russia wants to restart the Soviet Union but I don’t get it because Russia is the biggest country in the world so they can use their space instead of being greedy and taking over another country. Vladimir Putin is extremely evil.
Hello modest_wildcat!
I totally agree with you, could you answer me that:
With everything that has happened historically, politically and with all the human suffering. How can we stop wars like Russia-Ukraine from happening again, while ensuring that voices of innocent people especially kids are heard in any peace talks?
The reason why Putin started the war is, because he didn‘t want that the NATO is spreading near him/near Russia. He also did a statement of Nato in the past. I think it is still wrong and he should communicate. The war in Russia-Ukraine is too overdone, because Russia destroys many hospitals and economy buildings. I also think that Russia wants that Ukraine is a part of them again, but I am not quite sure.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has deep historical and political roots. Both nations were actually originally one under a medieval Slavic state known as Kievan Rus'. In the 18th Century, Ukraine was gradually absorbed into the Russian Empire and stayed until the fall of the empire in 1917. In 1918, Ukraine declared independence, but was quickly absorbed into the USSR in 1922. Under Soviet policies, Ukraine suffered Holodomor, a mass famine that killed millions. Luckily, after the USSR collapsed, Ukraine was able to declare independence in a referendum. The journey to independence wasn't easy but they did it anyways. However, conflicts escalated dramatically in 2014 and Russia was able to illegally annex Crimea. This then culminated into the full-scale on-going invasion that started on February 2022. As you can see, Ukraine and Russia has had a long history. For 3 centuries, Ukraine has been a part of Russia which is the main argument of Russia. However, Ukraine argues independence is a basic human right and Russia is denying that right. Both nations have a strong argument, but I lean more onto Ukraine's.
This quiz tested my knowledge on Russia and Ukraine. I found out that Russia has taken control of one fifth of Ukraine and one of the reason for the war was tension about national identity: Because Ukraine came closer with the European union and NATO, Russia carried full attack on them on February 24th 2022. I am also happy that people all around the world are letting asylums in, the United States has also sent food supplies to help people in Ukraine, while China has been buying more goods from Russia to support its economy. Many people are hopeful for the war to come to an end so that there will be peace again, and grow economically because none of the sides are benefiting from the war but rather loosing.
I received a 7/8 score which I still have more to learn about this specific topic but what I do know is that Russia launched an official invasion of Ukraine for having more friendships and partners instead of only Russia and the east.Which this lead to a war that lasted for about 3 years.Over my class period I found out that Russia invaded chernobyl which with all those radioactive materials they got their hands on which could only improve Russia's chances of winning the war and having full control Ukraine.I also learned that Ukraine had sent drones to Russia over CNN10.I personally don't think this war is going to end any sooner so........ bye😋!
Because Ukraine was bad Russia started fighting Ukraine and whoever tried to stop the war in Ukraine that were in Russia went to prison boys were the only one that were aloud to fight.
Thanks for this, where did you hear that Ukraine were bad from?
They set into war because Putin the Russian president once owned Ukrainian land. But Ukraine fought and got their own country. Then when Putin found out he set for war. Once war hit all children and women were evacuated men had to stay to fight. Which is not fair if they don’t sign up then they should not have to go. If there a father just think when they leave their children. Think how the children feel. Especially if they die how will they feel or act. All because Putin wants that land.
The Russian-Ukrainian war has completed 3 years. The starting of it was due to joining of Ukraine in the NATO. Russia was afraid that the NATO would affect its trade and security, because countries like USA are not so good friends with Russia. Other reasons include rich arable soil and metals. Russia claimed that Ukraine was the part of the Soviet Union and so Russia being the largest part had the rights to make some rules for them. They said that if Ukraine left the NATO, the war would stop. But NATO being vary supportive to Ukraine, it is becoming difficult for the war to come to an end, ending up destroying the economies, the world economy, environment, resources, human resources and rights, forests and others.
I personally don’t know an awful lot about what is going on in Russia and Ukraine. However what I do know is that this war dates back many years ago and isn’t something that is a new event. I can’t say what is going on over there as i don’t know much myself but I have very strong beliefs about the war overall and the citizens who are affected due to this tragedy. The innocent citizens of Ukraine and Russia should stay strong and not give up in these hard times. I think that they must support each other and not lose hope even if they feel like hope is lost. Many emotions such as fear and anger may be rooted within the hearts of the people of Russia and Ukraine and I completely understand as being in the middle of a war is frightening. Something I can link this conflict with in my life is when a Ukrainian boy came to my school and as a year group we all made sure he was safe and not upset as he had left everything and everyone he had known behind which would have taken immense strength and courage.
I got 5/8 on the quiz.
The war start in 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and began to occupy more of the country. The war has resulted in a refugee crisis and tens of thousands of deaths. The Russian government closed the media so that nobody will know about what is really happening in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
I am not surprised to get the score 6/8 since I thought that the Russian-Ukraine conflict started at 2022 not 2014. I didn't know that there were wars before. I learned that Crimea Ukraine was annexed by Russia in 2014. That doesn't that Russians are bad, it is just the government. I believe that this war impacts not only Russia and Ukraine but also many other countries, including Egypt. Since it began, bread and pastry prices here have gone through the roof because Russia supplies most of Egypt's wheat. During the war, Russia halted wheat exports to Egypt, which drove prices higher. This is a clear example of how a local crisis can impact distant countries. This has been my experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war's impact on my country.
Hello Topical talk
Today, I'm going to share with you some information about the war between Ukraine and Russia.
The Russia-Ukraine war started in February,24 ,2022, when Russia decided to invade Ukraine. This wasn't the first time the two countries had problems. In 2014, Russia took control from Crimea (a part from Ukraine) , which caused a lot of tension. NATO said that this is illegal but today, Crimea is still under Russian control. In 2022, Russia's invasion made the situation much worse. The war has caused a lot of damage, and many people had been hurt or killed. Millions of Ukrainian people have had to leave there houses to find safety in other countries or parts of Ukraine.
A lot of countries especially Europe and North America have helped Ukraine, by sending money, medical supplies, shelters, food supply and more. At the same, many countries have made rules to punish Russia by not training with them or stopping business deals. This has caused problems to Russia's economy, bit it also affected other parts of the world, like here in my country Egypt this war affected the pockets of citizens inside Egypt, and there incomes have decreased by 20%, and inflation in the country has raised to it's highest levels. Both Ukraine and Russia grow a lot of food, so the war has made the food prices higher, and some people can't get the food they need.
The war has made life so difficult for people in Ukraine. Many of them don't have enough food, water or electricity. I really hope that the war will stop soon so that the fighting ends, and people can live in peace again.
After the collapse of Soviet Union,Russia which was the largest member recognised Ukraine as an independent country.
But after 2014,with extension of Crimea, tension started arising,
and Ukraine's interests with NATO added fuel to fire.
Since Feb 2022,Russia declare a full scale war over Ukraine citing security concerns and to "demilitarize and denazify" the country.
The war has caused devastating effects, economically, environmentally, and geopolitically. As the various peace talks have failed, even after 3 yrs the future between the two is unclear and the anahilation extent is yet to be fully understood.
Hello Topical Talkers 🤗
The war has so many problems like letting the economy go down and less education. First, Ukraine and Russia were a part of a large country called Soviet Union. Ukraine wanted to have its own country and not to be in Soviet Union. In 1991, Soviet Union became not a country but Russia did not like this and wanted the Soviet Unions power back. Ukraine totally did not agree with Russia. And this is why Ukraine were defending their country.
In my opinion people have to live in peace have education and work. So hopefully the war stops soon.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME TOPICAL TALKERS ☺️
The Russian and Ukraine war has been going for the past 3 years and it has been affecting people from both countries. People in these countries have been offered money and to fight in the back row if they join the military.Just for these drafted men to be put in the first row and if they are injured they would be put right back in the first row and the only medicine they would have is pain killers. This happens to people of any race, any gender ranging from the ages 18-60 depending on if it is Russia or Ukraine. This isn't only happening to people who are fighting in the army but also people who are living in the countries who have had their homes , jobs and schools destroyed.
As stated before schools have been destroyed but not just the building but it is also affecting the school system as a whole. For example teachers are not allowed to tell students that war is a bad thing they are only allowed to talk about what the government wants, which limits the freedom of students and teachers. It's not just teachers, but doctors as well many doctors have only been helping soldiers who are wounded and not been able to help people who have other conditions like diabetes, heart issues, or struggle from strokes. But this isn't as bad as journalists who have been poisoned ,imprisoned or worse for speaking up about the war. Since the government only wants them to talk about that the war is a good thing or the positive stuff so journalists have been fleeing the countries to speak up about the war. This war has been affecting the people of both countries in similar ways.
Greetings! I know that in the Russia and Ukraine war, Russia longs for Ukraine's lovely and nutrient-filled land. I believe that Russia wants this land because of certain materials and healthy cropping areas. Russia also wants this land because of the opportunities that it will open up for Russia. This certain area is a trading port for Russia that gives more space for Russia to continue to develop.
Russia, from what I have learned, wish to extract vital metals from the country of Ukraine such as Uranium. This is because Russia is number 1 in trading these matirials globally for things such as oil and coal. They are also doing this in order to expand the Soviet Union again as the people of Russia are also wanting it back against the 90% of ukraine's who want inderpendence back in 1991.
I got an 8 out of 8 as I knew most of the things about the Soviet Union or the invasion of Crimea in 2014, but one thing I didn't know was the fact that 90% of Ukrainian voted in 1991 to leave the Soviet Union. I got lucky because I guessed right, but I was really surprised by this because 90% of Ukrainians population in 1991 was around 45 million people which is a lot. People really wanted to leave in communism anymore and I don't blame them, communism was terrible. The stories that my parents told about communism were horrible. They didn't have enough food and couldn't express their opinion. And this war that is happening in Ukraine right now is very important because if Ukraine loses they will fall into a dictatorship again and life in Ukraine will become much harder. People just think that it's just a war and it's not longer important since it has lasted for three years, but they don't realize that this war is between democracy and communism. And if communism wins, it will spread from country to country. This is why this war must be stopped now so communism won't spread over again. A lot of Americans think that the money that the U.S. government gives to Ukraine should be used to help the domestic problem in the U.S. But if Russia makes county after country communist, it's just a matter of time until the U.S. will become communism too. It will more advantageous for the U.S. in the long-term if they provide aid to Ukraine now.
This is why the war in Ukraine isn't just a normal one, it's much more important than people think.
Many people left both Russia and Ukraine because of the war in between them. Many citizens from both countries were being harmed, even with having nothing to do with the war. There are also many concerns about the poor education levels. All students are under the global standards on education and there has to be a change in this. Citizens have reached out and made announcements on how doctors are only taking care of wounded soldiers in the war and are completely ignoring the people of the country.
Hello 👋 , in this quiz I knew a lot of extra information Russia and Ukraine and Soviet Union . That Russia and Ukraine are two countries that share a border and have a long history of friendship and arguments . Over 30 years ago, Russia and Ukraine were part of a much bigger country called the Soviet Union. All this’s information I do not know about it . Thank you for reading. 🙂
I find this quiz very helpful as it let me learn more about what has been happening in the Russian and Ukrainian wars. This also shows us the reality of what happens in other places and how out of touch some people may be in topics such as this one.
On this quiz I scored a 7/8, I felt that this recap quiz of the lesson helped me realize how controlling Russia is over previous Soviet Union members. This can be proved by the lesson stating how Russia wanted to remain close with ex Soviet Union members, which led to Russia trying to rule Ukraine. Starting the war for Ukraines independence. In the end, while taking this quiz my eyes were reopened to the deviousness of Russia.
When I think about the Russia and Ukraine war I usually think that this war may start World War 3 but still the war is on and there is no world war. Russia is the 2nd most powerful country in the world and has numerous fighter jets, tanks , warship's and troops including over 5000 nuclear warheads and Ukraine is small yet powerful country both the country have a friendship of over 30 years . In olden times many worried countries including Ukraine made a deal with Russia to build a organisation known as NATO ( North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ) also called Soviet Union was a huge and most powerful group in the world after few years 90 % of Ukrainian decided to form their own independent country . So Russia did not like Ukraine going away and he wanted to be a close friend with him and other countries but there is a turning point Ukraine joined the side of America. So on 2022 Russia launched a full scale invasion on Ukraine and captured their main cities . Many countries helped Russia including china to capture Ukraine and America sent supplies like weapon and people to fight. Now Russia control over one - fifth of Ukraine and I hope this war will end more sooner with a happy ending for both the countries.
In our opinion, this quiz is very informative because we have learned more about the war in Ukraine. Furthermore we would like to add that this horrible conflict would perhaps benefit from some kind of agreement between the two countries which would mean Russia would have to withdraw and compensate Ukraine. This opinion is of course open to criticism and has been informed by the long conflict since 2014.
I got 5 out of 8 in the quiz.
Some things I have learnt from the quiz is that, Russia and Ukraine share a border and were calling themselves The Soviet Nation. Another thing I have learnt is that it is actually Russia that started the war, because they wanted more space for themselves. I also learnt that an association called NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), which Ukraine was planning to join tried to stop the war. The quiz gave me a more balanced perspective of the conflict.
Ukraine was a peaceful country until the Russians came about. They destroyed Ukraine and took over one fifth of it and their president was worried that he pleaded with some countries to help him like the America and some other countries.
I scored 6/8 in the quiz about Russia and Ukraine. I knew before that the war between them began in 2014 when Russia controlled Crimea however I was surprised when the quiz mentioned that in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine wanted to be an independent country, but Russia did not like this situation consequently the war began. This war oppressed a lot of the Russian and Ukrainian citizens furthermore it had a large effect on the global economy. This conflict also affected all the world including my country, Egypt. Here are some ideas about what are the disasters that Egypt was facing during the war between them.
Egypt used to import wheat and corn from Russia and Ukraine. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine led to the lack of wheat which has impact to the food production in Egypt. This war increased the price of the bread. For example, before the war the loaf of bread cost twenty-five piasters but now it costs 2 Egyptian pounds. This war did not only increase the cost of the bread but also increased the cost of pasta besides a lot of types of food and goods. This conflict also reduced the number of Ukrainian tourists to visit Egypt, and this influences the Egyptian's economy. For example, before the war, there was a huge number of Ukrainian tourists that used to visit Egypt every year especially, in Sharm El Shekh. This caused to the reduction of the foreign currency in Egypt. This impacted the Egyptian citizens and increased the poverty rate.
To conclude, I hope that the war ends because it is very effective, and all of the countries are affected.
Thank you for sharing this perspective on this from your country. It is really insightful. I implore you to consider how countries that traditionally import products from Russia/ Ukraine may change their strategy in the future. Do you think that it is possible to return to a pre-2022 world and supply chain? Or do you think that these countries will seek out different trading partners?
Hello 👋 , in this quiz it was a lot of information about Russia and Ukraine and Soviet union . I was a lot of information about it , yet I don’t know this information . it example from the quiz that the information that I don’t know : in one thousand nine hundred ninety one, more than 90% of Ukrainian voters choose to become a new country , independent from the Soviet union . by the end of one thousand nine hundred ninety one , the Soviet union had split into smaller countries . And this also affect in the world economics for example Egypt at the war of Russia and Ukraine in Egypt in com is 20% of Egypt households decrease due to the Russian - Ukraine crisis . That made a problem for Egypt that Egyptian pound continues to decline again. It’s the dollar also close to flow the pound it affect the Egyptian economy and be down and also resources.
Thank you for reading 😊 .
The was between Russia and Ukranie, which began in 2022 continues in 2025. This conflict stems from political and historical differences: Ukranie has been trying to move closer to the West, while Russia wishes to maintain its influence over the country.
At present, Russia controls approximately 20% of Ukranian territory, although the situation is very dinamic. Ukranie receives support from the US and the EU, and there have been comments that Donald Trump might be able to achieve within 100 days.
This conflict has had a significant impact on the global economy and energy supply. It's critical that world leaders work towards a solution, as those who are really suffering are the citizens not the rules.
I know about the war between Russia and Ukraine. Russia was wanting the land of Ukraine. The war started in 20 February 2014 and it is continuing up to now. I think that Russia wanted Ukraine's land to make access or for making something so huge and cannot fit in Russia's land.
I scored 7 out of 8 in the quiz. What I know about the Russia and Ukraine war is that, in February 2022 Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and started occupying other country and started the biggest conflict the war has resulted as a refugee crisis and the war did a lots of things to people like: children stopped going to school, people died and people suffered and what caused the war was Ukraine became part of the soviet union alongside Russia.
The war has been going on for about 3 years which has been causing devastating chaos and destruction for these two countries. Over these past years, I have been listening again and again to the radio, hearing about death and suffering in both Russia and Ukraine.
I know that Ukraine has been suffering from the Russian attacks and Ukraine could not attack the middle of Russia but could only defend because of the nukes Russia owns. From this time people have been running away from danger into countries including: England, Germany and some even went to Austria. At the 19th of November 2024 Ukraine was finally allowed to fire rockets and stuff like that in the middle of Russia by a president of USA, Joe Biden. So from that day Ukraine could actually do something about the war.
I got an 8/8 on the quiz and it helped me understand more about the war and the Soviet Union. We don't want to include ourselves too much because we do not want a world war III. We already have a lot going on apart from this war, like Syria's 12 year civil war, the ceasefire with Gaza and Hammas which could unpause and carry on fighting and the Palestinian war.
i got 4/8 on this, very good topic, i want to learn about it more someday. i personally think this was shouldn't happen as it's risking both sides lives for war just for one piece of land. I think, this was should have never happened. what do you think about this war?
I know that Russia started the war because ukraine wanted to be apart of Nato and that ukraine has go a lot of supplies from loads of diffirent countries ect
i got 6/8 of the quiz,it really helped me to understand more about the war and when and how it started in the first place
First of all, the current Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has created a certain fair all along Europe. Since Russia anexed Crimea in 2014, Putin got focused on the control of the total Ukraine. With the Belarus help as a satellite state and the withdrawal of Angela Merkel as the German head of state, Putin took the courage of invading his neighbor. This started almost three years ago, and, when the invantion took place, everyone got shocked beacuase they thought that a Third World War could happen, however, Putin only wanted to took control of Ukraine, but I think that if he succeded just in a few days, he would have thought on invading other countries, such as Finland or the Slavic countries. After three long years of battle, Russia controls now a fifth part of Ukraine, but some regions like Donetsk wanted to leave Ukraine, so Russia annexed it easily. At some instances, Ukraine got strong because of the NATO help, but Russia, also was a painthful enemy, because of the chinese and north korean help.
I really commend Russia and Ukraine for their consistency although it is not a good consistency because it is war we are talking about and as for me, I would love peace for everyone and every country. Because it is crazy that your attacking your own affiliate country for no good reason because they are meant to support them as in act like a brother towards them that is what I mean and then the calling of more nations could result in something nasty and that nasty thing might be the third world war.
What i know is that the war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for years and this has caused lots of problems for both countries
I think that Ukraine is holding on well considering that they are a lot smaller than Russia and we are helping them.Putin is a very powerful man but he just wants more power, when he was a kid he had always dreamed about being Priminister.Even though Donald Trump does not agree with what he is doing he is getting influenced and is trying to take over other country's and technically blackmailing them.In conclusion this war has been going on for way too long and it is starting to influence bad behaviour.
All i know is that Russia has tried to invade Ukraine and many European countries have heaped out Ukraine. Also, lots of countries have stopped buying oil from Russia to help the war.
In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and began occupying more of the country, starting the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II. The war has resulted in a refugee crisis and tens of thousands of deaths. Can anyone tell me any crazy facts that you know?
I was surprised I got 8/8 in this quiz as it had been exactly 3 years since Russia attacked Ukraine, and since today I had forgotten that it is still happening! Even though Russia has taken 1/5 of Ukrainian land, I wonder how Ukraine is holding on well in this war. This is because Russia is 2nd place for global military rank in 2025, and Ukraine is 20th. Even though countries like the USA have helped them by giving $44 Billion in material aid, it still amazes me how well Vladimir Zelenskyy is holding his country up.
Hello 👋
As of February 13, 2025, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine remains a focal point of international concern, with recent developments indicating potential shifts towards diplomatic resolutions.
Initiation of Peace Negotiations:
In a significant diplomatic move, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to commence negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing war.
My score was 7/8, What I know about the Russia-Ukraine war is that currently President Donald Trump is trying to create peace between the two countries. He is trying to get Ukraine to give up the land Russia wants to stop the war. I also know that the reason Russia might be Attacking Ukraine is the materials there.
I scored 6/8 in the quiz and one of the facts that really surprised me was the fact that Russia used its military to take control of Crimea in 2014. Before solving this quiz, I thought the conflict between Russia and Ukraine only began in 2022. Learning about the earlier invasion completely changed my perspective on the war.
At first, I saw it as just a typical war between two countries and to be honest, I even supported Russia. However, after understanding the history, I feel more sympathy for Ukraine. It seems unfair for Russia to attack another country simply to maintain control over its allies. While I understand that Russia doesn't want to lose influence, that doesn't justify military aggression. This new information has really shifted my view on the situation.
How interesting that you changed your mind when you learned more about the topic. That is flexible thinking!
I first learned about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict when I was in 7th grade when my teacher played CNN 10 news for my class. I had no prior knowledge on either countries and so I didn't know much about this war except that many people were worried for Ukraine. I remember hearing all about how the U.S. was sending supplies and troops over to assist Ukraine however after a few months everything surrounding this war just stopped and I didn't know what happened. A year later this news arose again and I found out that the war had continued, I still wasn't very informed of this war but I heard about the bombing of many hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc., this was big commotion that brought a lot of sympathy towards Ukraine from my eyes. As this is a topic that I'm not very informed of, I scored a 6/8. From the quiz provided from Topical Talk I learned that Russia took part of Ukraine, Crimea, in 2014. Despite it being considered illegal in NATO's eyes, it remains under Russian control. I had no idea this war had previous conflicts before the war. I also learned that Russia has control over one-fifth of Ukraine. I thought that Ukraine was holding off well but it seems that they are struggling more than I imagined as President Volodymyr Zelensky asked for more help, according to the quiz. Thanks to Topical Talk I became slightly more informed on this conflict and I believe that this is just the beginning of what I will be learning from this war.
If Russia and Ukraine were still friends, then this bad war wouldn't of happened yet and they would probably be having a normal life. I don't know why Vladimir Putin planned this attack when he already has his very own massive country. I personally think that there should be a ceasefire so they can try to figure out what to do. The first thing they should do is to heal all the injured because if they start the war again and they try to rebuild all of the hospitals and things, everything will just get bombed again. If this never happened, then no one would of fled the country and everything would have been normal.
I know that the russian and ukrainian war has been going on now for many years but the full invasion happened on feb 24th 2022. Which alerted the world of the danger.
Russa is known for its massive size and strong army that are dangerous. The reason Russia wants ukraine's land is the same reason that most countries fall in war, land and resources like iron, gold and radioactive materials that can be used as energy sources those materials are things that most ,if not all countries seek. The thing is that the universe isn't in a energy crisise but humans are still pulling energy from the ground which i think ia dissapointing to me i hope one day energy won't be so scarce and we can use it freely without war. Ukraine is trying to defend itself from russia but Russia has already conquered a 5th of ukraine which doesn't sound like alot on flat paper but it is alot.
As i said russia want resources to keep itself stable at its massive size.
I don't know much about the Russia-Ukraine war as I only scored 3/8 on the quiz however I do know that Russia is wanting to claim rich land from Ukraine as it has lots of materials like uranium and titanium. I also think that Russia wants this land as it would give them access to Europe's trading purposes.
The Russia Ukraine war began as president Putin believed that Russia should own the land of Ukraine like they used to in the Soviet Union. Putin has caused many Ukrainians to lose their lives, family, homes and more. Personally, I do not see this war ending any time soon, but if countries such as the USA and England continue sending supplies to help Ukraine and defeat Russia, the war could reach its climax quicker than expected.
The fact that Russia owns a quarter of Ukraine ,shows the unruly power of the country and them still trying even when many people believe they are losing shows they are determined for the occupation. Ukraine being in the soviet union before this conflict adds more to the fact Russia want to occupy them to revive their fromer power.
The war had started in February 2014 but only became a large thing 3 years ago. Around 254,000 had moved to the UK because of this reason. It was said around about 217,000 of these were Ukrainian civilians living in the UK as of 30th June 2024. Poland is well known as taking in most of these refugees within this crisis at a massive rate of about 17 million! Between 14,200 and 14,400 people including civilians and military personnel , were killed in relation to that conflict from April 2014 to December 2021. At least 3,400 of those were civilians. As of 2024 at least 30% of Ukraine has been invaded with 3 to 3.5 million Ukrainians were estimated to be living under occupation, since the invasion. The US have been renowned in helping Ukraine at war by donating $1.22 billion in additional funds through to the Ukraine Security Assistance initiative to provide Ukraine with additional air defence systems, air-to-ground munitions, unmanned aerial systems and many other capabilities to fight the Russian aggression. There is a large difference between how many soldiers are left with Russia having an estimate of 1 million fighting and 2 million reserves and Ukraine having a estimate of 2 million fighting and 3 million reserves (rounded).
Thank you for reading!
I scored 8/8 . I have pretty much information about the beginning of war ……………………10 November 2021 the news broke out that Russia has started deploying its military soldiers to Ukraine’s border , by 28 November it became clear that more than 100000 Russian troops and they could attack at any time between mid January to Early February. By December the news has reached the US intelligence leading to a warning by US president Joe Biden to the Russian authorities. He said that if there was any invasion into Ukraine of any kind , then Russia would have to face severe repercussions . Then the US intelligence agencies claimed that on 16 February when Russia will declare war on Ukraine which hopefully did not happen. This was mocked by Russian authorities saying that America always spouts nonsense and told that they didn’t plan any attack. A day later , the news broke out that Russia was withdrawing its soldiers and apparently Russia is de-escalating which turned out to be fake . Experts say that China had put pressure on Russia to wait till the end of Beijing Olympics and China didn’t wanted war to be declared causing interruptions in the Beijing Olympics . This is a strange theory indeed but 20 th February was the last day of Beijing Olympics , and on next day Putin addresses everyone that there are 2 separatists areas in eastern Ukraine and they now recognise the separatist areas as independent countries. The areas were Donetsk and Luhansk and some part of them was governed by Russia. By this we can get a hint how all of the conflicts started…
(Fact-Russia and Ukraine are two countries that share a border and have a long history of friendship and arguments. Over 30 years ago, Russia and Ukraine were part of a much bigger country called the Soviet Union.)
The Russia-Ukraine war started on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. However, the roots of the conflict go back much further. Russia occupied and annexed Crimea from Ukraine and supported pro-Russian separatists fighting the Ukrainian military in the Donbas War. These first eight years of conflict also included cyberwarfare. In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and began occupying more of the country, starting the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II. The war has resulted in a refugee crisis and tens of thousands of deaths.
Thank you.
I think manly family will be affected because Men have to stay in the country and fight in the war. Think how hard it is for children leaving their dad then maybe the next day they find out he has died. I mean I would cry if I had to live with out my dad. But it is not just children it women as well. They would have to raise a child all by there self as well as working a job to get money.
I got 8 over 8, I learnt that
Ukraine and Russia were part of a gigantic country named The Soviet Union, Soviet Union had fought many wars for Ukraine to become part of them, to stay with them and in the Russian war. Ukraine finally got its independence when the Soviet Union broke up. 90% of its citizens voted to be a separate country from the Soviet Union which they became independent. When Ukraine got their independence they had a lot of resources like agricultural products, lithium, titanium, uranium and many more. Now Russia started the first face of war when they attacked Crimea on February to March 2014 because of their many conflicts and arguments on Ukraine joining NATO and all that.
Russia then decided to attack Ukraine to take control of them, and use their resources, after launching a full scale attack on the 24th of February 2022 and captured their major city Kherson. Many countries helped in different ways for example China helped Russia by supporting its economy while US helped by sending supplies to Ukraine. Russia currently controls 20% of Ukraine.
In conclusion the Ukraine and Russian war has deep roots deeper more than 50 years which affected the outcome today.
What I know about the Ukrainians and Russia is that they have been bordering for a long period of time. They shared friendships and arguments. Russia and Ukraine were part of a much bigger country called the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was mighty, so other countries were very worried about it, so they formed a group called NATO, which stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Then Ukraine wanted to leave The Soviet Union and join NATO Russia 🇷🇺 didn't like this so they started fighting and this was how the war started.
I scored 7 out of 8 i the quiz and I learned alot of new information. Like I didn't know that Russia control one fifth of Ukraine's land. Also thirty years ago they were one country that is called The Soviet Union. It was a very big country and in this time it had the strongest army in the world.
I think the Russia-Ukraine war is really sad and not fair. Ukraine just wants to be its own country, make its own choices, and live in peace, and everyone should be allowed to do that. Ukraine has its own history, language, and culture, and it should be able to decide how it wants to live, without anyone forcing it into something it doesn’t want. No one should have to live in fear or be controlled, especially when it comes to their home and future.
Russia’s actions seem like a bully trying to take something that isn’t theirs. In 2014, Russia took Crimea, a part of Ukraine, and in 2022, Russia sent its army to invade Ukraine, thinking it could take over. Russia thought Ukraine would give up quickly, but Ukraine didn’t! This led to a huge war that’s caused destruction and pain. Millions of people lost their homes, and many innocent lives have been lost.
What’s worse is that Russia didn’t try to solve things peacefully. Instead of talking it out, Russia used its army to try to force Ukraine to follow its will. Ukraine asked for help from other countries, like the United States and European nations, who sent weapons and support. Ukraine has been so strong in fighting back, even though the war is still going on and hurting so many people.
I really wish countries could solve problems by talking instead of fighting. Ukraine deserves to be free, and I hope the war ends soon so Ukraine can live in peace without fear. The world should help Ukraine stay safe and independent.
I scored a 7/8 on the quiz, and what really shocked me was that Russia has allegedly captured one fifth of Ukraine and still keeps destroying the remnants of the country. Ukraine once a stable, peaceful and happy nation has been turned into a living battlefield where each passing hour is like a time bomb ticking and its not just a war between the two countries but it is a huge crises that we are facing right now. Right from fuelling prices of oil to a drastic tourism decline in surrounding nations, its not just the two countries burning rather the whole globe that's suffocating.
What truly needs to be in the limelight is the environmental problems and rapid global warming hat we are facing right now is due to excessive usage of bombs, used for bombing innocent lives.Over million tonnes of CO2 is produced in these wars. Not only harming the current scenarios but unfolding the terrible future within them , afterall our land maybe divided by borders but our atmosphere is not. This carbon emission won't selectively harm the Ukranians or Russians rather each one of us living in different parts of the world in some way or the other.
Afterall, wars don't only destroy lives but the lifeline for many.
I know a lot about the Russia- Ukraine war through newspapers and news channels. So far, I am aware about the situation of the Russia- Ukraine war. I also know how it all started.
As of 2024, Russia has occupied almost 20% of Ukraine and about 3 to 3.5 million Ukrainians are estimated to be living under occupation; since the invasion, the occupied territories lost roughly half of their population. It has been almost 3 years now since Russia has invaded Ukraine.
However,Russia-Ukraine war began in 2014 when Russia took over the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine, following protests in Ukraine against their leader wanting closer ties with Russia instead of Europe.
I am really happy to know about the events going on around the world.
I got 6/8 on the quiz.
This war began in 2014 and has turned into a complex and ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine .
One of the biggest impacts of this war is Humanitarian crisis, resulting in displacement of people, civilian suffering and infrastructure damage . This humanitarian crisis is a reminder of the devastating effects of war.
The war has been having devastating effects on the economies of Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine's economy has been severely damaged, with most of the infrastructure destroyed and businesses forced to close. Russia's economy has also been damaged facing economic challenges and international sanctions.
Environmental damage. with widespread contamination to air and water, having lasting effects on ecosystems and public health. This war is a constant reminder of the negative effects of wars and conflict
To begin with, the current Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, has established a certain equitable all along Europe. Ever since Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, Putin became obsessed with the domination of the entire Ukraine. With the Belarus assistance as a satellite state and the stepping down of Angela Merkel as the German head of state, Putin took the boldness of invading his neighbor. It began nearly three years ago, and, when the invantion occurred, all were shocked because it was assumed that there will be a Third World War, but Putin only needed to took possession of Ukraine, but in my opinion, if he succeded just in some days, he would have thought about invading other nations, like Finland or Slavic countries. At long last, in three years of warfare, Russia has now secured a fifth fraction of Ukraine but there were portions like Donetsk, which wanted to break away from Ukraine, thus it was simply annexed by Russia. For some moments, Ukraine became tough due to NATO support, yet Russia, who was also the painthful opponent, owing to chinese as well as north korean support.
I wish this war will be over sooner with a happier ending for both nations.
The war has resulted in catastrophic impacts, economically, environmentally, and geopolitically. With the failure of the different peace negotiations, even after 3 yrs the future between the two remains uncertain and the anahilation extent is yet to be comprehensively realized.
The Russia Ukrain war began in 2014 and is still ongoing conflict. The Ukrain has its roots in joining NATO and European Union. This Russia sees as a threat to its security .
Key events:
In 2014 Ukrain wanted to be friends with Europe but Russia didnt liked that and as a result the Pro President of Russia, Viktor Yanukovych annexed Ukrain's Crimea .
After one year , a group of people in Eastern Ukrain who supported Russia declared that they wanted to have a separate state which had close relationships with Russia. As a result leading to a conflict with Ukrainian government.
In 2022, Russia launched a large scale invasion, which had led to human crisis and destruction.
Current situation:
The conflict is still ongoing as a fight in eastern Ukrain.
Due to Russia's action many countris are unhappy and have imposed
sanctions.
Many people are trying to help and support affected civilians.
I loved to attend the quiz which enabled me to test my knowledge and learn many new facts about the war.
Great that you enjoyed the topic and learned a lot!
Our president Donald J Trump met with the leaders of the two countries which are currently at war with each other in hope to end the war, bring peace, and create an agreement. I don't know how to feel about this because I feel that our president has some relations with Putin ,but I am siding with Zelinskyy and Ukraine.
I know about this war that this war hasn't started recently but it has very deep roots. This war had started is the 19th century and is still raging in 2025.This war had started since Ukraine seeked their country to be independent and be an individual country unlike the Soviet Union many years ago.Russia had launched a full scale invasion on Ukraine and had captured a very important city-Cremea of Ukraine.Russia wanted to capture Ukraine as it would provide it with very rich Minerals like Uranium and Titanium. Also this would unlock many ventures for Russia and would give exposure in import -export and Alliance with the western countries and European countries. Also in this war Despite the large scale attacks of a superpower like Russia, Ukraine faught off very well under the presidency of Volodimir Zelensky.I feel that this conflict is causing harm to many innocent lives on the ground level and is making people suffer who aren't at fault. Also the education system has completely stopped in certain areas due to the constant attacks and many hospitals and public centres have been completely demolished.I feel that this war should now stop and take no extreme and shouldn't get more destructive.
I hope for this brutal war to end soon and provide hope for the rehabilitation for the citizens.
I really liked this quiz. It told me a lot about what has happened. So it was useful :)
I got a 6 out of 8.
I know that the Russia Ukraine war started on February 20th, 2014. Russia and Ukraine share a border and have a long history of friendships and arguments. Both countries used to be a part of a much bigger country called the Soviet Union over 30 years ago. However, in 1991, more than 90% of Ukrainian voters chose to become a new country, making them no longer a part of the Soviet Union. I also know that many other countries have helped Russia and Ukraine in different ways during the war. For example, the United States sent Ukraine supplies and food, while China has been buying more goods from Russia to help its own economy. Russia is the largest member of the Soviet Union, and was not happy about Ukraine. The Soviet Union was really powerful, this made other countries worried, so these countries set up a group called NATO.
I also learned new things in the quiz. I didn't know that in 2014, Russia used its military to control Crimea (a part of Ukraine). Apparently, this was illegal. But, what shocked me is that Crimea was still under Russia's control today. The last thing I didn't know when taking the quiz was that Russia is currently controlling about one-fifth of Ukraine. I thought that it would be more due to the invasion.
The Russia-Ukraine war, which began on February 24, 2022, is a significant and ongoing conflict that has resulted in widespread destruction, loss of life, and displacement of many people. It involves Russia, led by president Vladimir Putin, and Ukraine, led by president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
On the test I got an 8 out of 8. I learned that once 30 years ago Russia and Ukraine were part of a much bigger country called The Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was big and powerful. This concerned some other countries, so they organized a group called The NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation). I also learned that by the end of 1991 the Soviet Union had split in to smaller pieces because, more than 90% of Ukrainian voters chose to become independent. The war started because Russia launched a full scale invasion on Ukraine. Within a month Russia forces took a whole city from Ukraine This happened about 3 years ago. In this war The United States is supplying Ukraine with some supplies and China is helping Russia with supplies.
In conclusion The war has some impacts on the people in Ukraine and Russia. But it is also effecting people all around the world.
I got a 7/8 on the quiz and I learned much more about the Ukraine/Russia War. I learned that Ukraine and Russia have a long line of friendships and conflicts throughout the two regions since they both were a part of a large group of the Soviet Union over 30 years ago. The Soviet Union was feared throughout the globe, since they were big and powerful many countries created NATO to protect themselves from the Soviet Union. In 1991, more than 90% of the Ukrainian people voted to become a new country and leave the Soviet Union. Russia occupies almost 20% and about 3.5 million Ukrainians are under Russian occupation and control. On February 24th 2022, Russia started a full invasion of Ukraine. Many countries, including the United States, has been helping the war by sending supplies for their growth and safety. This war is still on-going but with all the effort that we have, there may be a stop to it.
I got 8 out of 8! What I know about the current situation between Russia and Ukraine is that they are at war and that what started this war is that on February 24th 2022, Russia launched a full scale invasion on Ukraine and within a month, Russian forces captured their first major city in Ukraine, Kherson. What I'd learned from the quiz is that Russia and Ukraine was in a bigger country called The Soviet Union.I also learned that The Soviet Union was big and powerful, so this worried some countries including American, so these countries set up a group called The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation(NATO).I also know that Elon musk donated to Starlink so that Ukraine could have WIFI, then after a few month he posted on his company X that whether Ukraine should consider giving up some territory to Russia in exchange for peace,so this sparked outrage from Ukrainian Leaders. Mr. Musk's response was to announce plans to stop the funds for the Starlink units, but then he later reversed his decision.
In conclusion this is what I know about the Russia-Ukraine war.
Thank you for reading.
The Russia-Ukraine war, which started on February 24,2022 is one of the biggest conflicts in Europe in recent history. It's a complex situation influenced by decades of tension between Russia, Ukraine and the west.
The war began when Russia invaded Ukraine, aiming to take control of the country. This move was partly driven by Russia's long-standing desire to influence Ukraine, which has been trying to strengthen its ties with the European Union and NATO. The situation escalated in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and supported separatist groups in eastern Ukraine, but the full-scale invasion in 2022 made it a global crisis.
The war has caused widespread destruction, with thousands of civilians killed and millions forced to flee their homes. Many countries, especially the US, European national and the NATO have condemned Russia's actions and imposed strict sanction to hurt Russia's economy and military. These sanctions have disrupted global supply chains, especially in energy and food.
Russia claims the invasion is necessary to protect Russian- speaking people in Ukraine and to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO, which it sees as a threat. However, many believe this is just an excuse to expand Russia's territory.
In conclusion, the conflict has divided the world while some countries support Ukraine with military aid and other resources, others like China and India have stayed neutral. The war's future is uncertain, wit ongoing fighting and efforts for peace, but it has already had a major impact on global politics showing how fragile peace can be!
THANK YOU!
I got 7 out of 8 I already knew that the war between Russia was going on, but I also learned a lot. I learned that Russia and Ukraine used the o be part of one country, along with some other countries, called the Soviet Union and this worried the other countries like America and Europe so they made a group called NATO. another thing I learned was that in 1991 more than 90% of Ukrainian voters chose to be a new country. I also learned that Russia was the largest member of the Soviet union. In total I think that the Soviet Union was a very powerful Union. I believe Russia is close to becoming as powerful as the former Soviet Union.
This quiz and the comments from other students were very helpful and now I know more about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. To be honest, I didn't know that the war was still ongoing in 2025, I had heard about it when it first started but then forgot about it. But, now I know that this war has led to massive destruction, the loss of many lives and that millions have fled from Ukraine. Many countries such as the United States and in general NATO members, have supported Ukraine by providing weapons, financial aid and humanitairian aid. On the other hand, Russia has faced many consequences due to this war, such as economic sanctions. But, this war has also affected the economy of the whole world, causing higher energy and gas prices, food shortages and inflation in many countries. In conclusion, the Russia - Ukraine war is an ongoing conflict that has had serious global consequences. Thanks for reading my comment!
I know that Russia wanted the NATO group neighbours to remain close because of the separation NATO each other like Ukraine but Ukraine become friendlier with America and also Russia wanted the rich land that Ukraine haded like titanium and uranium and in December 2024 volodymyr Zelensky Asked for more support
The things I already know about Russia and Ukraine war is that they both got different countries around the world helping to supply food water and war equipment.
I know the Ukraine and Russia war was started by Russia in 2022 when Russia did an unexpected attack on Ukraine which led to a bunch of deaths, people being scared to go outside, and people moving away. Many people have started to talk about this again recently. Did you know America has been helping Ukraine by giving them food only for treasure. Russia also took control of the Crimea and many countries call it illegal. People also have been saying the war should end because its been 3 years since it happened.
During this lesson I learned a lot including; Russia and Ukraine has shared a long history, which dates back to the Soviet Union where they were one big whole they had friendship and argument over 30 years ago. Other countries were worried about this, so they created the NATO group which would protect each other from other countries attacking from nearby countries attacking. But soon later Russia wanted to be old friends, with the other countries in the Soviet Union but Ukraine started to be friendlier with America and other NATO countries. Then in 2014, Russia had their military to take control of a part of Ukraine called Crimea. In 2022 February 24th, Russia started the invasion on Ukraine and soon later Russia had captured its first major city in Ukraine. Many countries has helped Russia and Ukraine, like America has help Ukraine by sending supplies that the people need and, on the other hand China has helped Russia by buying more goods from Russia to support them. Now Russia has taken control of one fourth of Ukraine. Overall, this was a horrible tragedy and would probably go down as one of the worst war in history.
Hello!!
The war between Ukraine and Russia started on February 2014, when Russia took occupied and annexed Crimea. 8 years later, on February 2022, the conflict increase and Rusia wanted to control the goverment of Ukraine and the territory inn only 7 days. Russia has invaded a lot of Ukraine´s territory.
But the question is: Whay did Russia started invading Ukraine in 2014? Well, Russia and Ukraine and more countries such as Azerbayan, Bielorrussia or Estonia, conformed The Soviet Union (URRRS) Russia was the most powerfull one and he didn´t want to split into small countrie. On the 26 of december of 1991 Soviet Union was splited into small countries including Ukraine and Russia didn´t liked this idea because it was not as powerfull as before.
The war between Russia and Ukranie started in 2014 and I remember that it was very schoking hear in Spain , because it was very close to us. The Soviet Union and other countries were very afraid of them bacause it was so big, so Ukranie began to ally itself with other neighboring countries and it puts angry to Russia. They Russia attacked Ukranie and destroyed it almost entirely . So Russia took over part of Ukranie and countries like United States helped Ukranie.
7/8
Russia and Ukraine were part of the same country years ago. It was called the Soviet Union. On those times it had a lot of power and welths, but later the countries started to get separated until they are nowadays.
The problem started here. Vladimir Putin wants to unify the Soviet Union again and because of that the war exploded. But what we do not realy know is that, more than the 90% of the population of Ukraine (on those times) wanted to have the independence from the USSR (the Soviet Union), after 72 years under their control, and that was the reason of the separation.
Now, is it necesary to unify the USSR again? Because if not (that is the real case) Russia is depriving Ukraine of what they fought many years to have, their independence. What we have to think about is: are the other countries doing something to solve this? Can they do something more? Can we do something to help them?
This is what I know from Russia and Ukraine war I know that the war started in 2014 then in 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine and that when some people thought it was world war 3 and when the invaded started many people got killed.
I got a 7 out of 8 on the quiz. I know that Russia and Ukraine have been at war for 3 years now. The thing that sparked the war was the fact that Ukraine became its own country and detached from the Soviet Union. In my opinion this war is because of the need for power and territory. I think that both the countries are in the wrong because being at war for three years is just not right because people who did nothing are getting hurt. Also from my understanding Russia wants the land that Ukraine has because of the rich materials in the soil. This includes Titanium and Uranium. This would possibly make Russia rich and wealthy for trading purposes. This is my understanding of the Russian Ukraine war.
Many structure s have been destroyed and many poeple inisent die because of the desagreement of two countries and many money come to wast and man children became ophons no parent to feed them no shelter and also the fight will continue and many people will die
Hello Topical Talkers, today we learned about the Russian-Ukrainian war. Let me tell you about it. Did you know that Russia and Ukraine used to be one big country named The Soviet Union? America and other countries did not like how big and powerful The Soviet was so they formed a group called NATO to try and split it up. So with that and the fact that more than 90% of Ukrainians voted to be free from The Soviet, The Soviet split into Ukraine and Russia towards the end of 1991. But on February 24’th 2022, Russia launched an invasion on Ukraine. The Russians managed to capture a major city called Kherson. Now as of 2025 Russia controls about one-fifth of Ukraine. Those are some of the many things that I learned about in today’s lesson.
In my opinion I believe that the Russian and Ukraine War should possibly be or should have been avoided at all costs due to how many people have left their country due to this War. This is also bad due to knowing my country knows that Russia is a very powerful country so there is a chance or was a chance of Ukraine most likely losing the War. Also these two countries have had a friendship for 30 years or more to this day, so I ask the question, why would you throw this relationship away if it was over 30 years to this point in time? This entire War is, would be, or was over a tiny piece of land while Russian is a huge country and Ukraine is a semi big one as well. Anyway, I believe that the war would not, is, or was worth over a tiny piece of land.
I learned quite a lot from the given quiz. It was a mini hurdle for me, but after the quiz I realized what all I learned.
I got to know about the facts and history of both the countries and also got to hear new news. It tested my brain thoroughly, examining what all I had remembered and what I hadn't. This made me some new remarks and points that I need to take in consideration while attempting the new weekly topics.
So overall this quiz helped me jot down what I need to focus on and what I need to make my habit for the next and upcoming topics. It acted as an refinement for me, and a sharpener for my brain.
Thank You
(I scored 8/8) I know that, In the beginning Russia and Ukraine were peaceful together in a union. This union is called the Soviet Union. And at this time other countries were afraid of the Soviet Union because the union was made up of 15 countries, so the Soviet Union was quite large. After a while Ukraine started to be friendly with some other neighboring countries and when this started Russia was not fond of Ukraine being polite with other countries. So, Russia planned to attack Ukraine firing missiles that would destroy many things and even schools, then Russia seized a part of Ukraine called “Crimea” however other countries helped Ukraine for example America helped Ukraine with things like food.
First, I know that Russia, and Ukraine have been in a war for three years. In addition, Ukraine has major health problems because some of their hospitals have been destroyed by the Russian army. Also, Russia has 20% percent control against Ukraine since they took over Crimea. Also, Russia has some journalists who don't like the idea of war, but can't protest, or they will get punished. In my opinion, Russia is in the wrong. They started a war that they are winning, but also killing innocent people in Ukraine.
I know that the war between Ukraine and Russia has impacted both of these countries. The leader of Russia Vladimir Putin issued an attack on Ukraine because he wanted to take over and restart the Soviet union ,but he did not know that Ukraine was going to fight back. Ukrainian schools, hospitals, and other buildings have been destroyed in the conflict. This has had an impact on children's education. I believe that world leaders should help to stop this war and help these countries get the supplies they need to repair all destroyed buildings and get healthcare, but I also believe that Putin will take over because Ukraine is running out of supplies to fight back.
I know that Russia started the war because Ukraine decided that they wanted to be their own country and no longer wanted to be a part of Russia. Russia then started to bomb Ukraines hospitals so soldiers who were hurt could not recover. Some schools where also getting bombed so lots of kids where doing online school. Russia and Ukraine have been at war for 3 years and still are.
I know that Russia and Ukraine are at war because on Feb 8 2022 Russia is in vading Ukraine space acting they own Ukraine country but now there in war. now Ukraine has less schools and hospitals. and they have been in war for 3 years now and Russia was winning now Ukraine . why did Russia came vading in Ukraine?
I know that this war started in 2022 February Russia invade the land of Ukraine and Russia started a war with Ukraine so they could get some good material on there land and i heard the Russia and Ukraine had left without telling Russia.
After thinking about Russia - Ukraine war I’ve usually think that millions of lives were lost . People may have been going to different countries as refugees but I think this war has created a sensation in the world but what is the root cause of this war . According to me Russia and Ukraine had a friend ship of more than 30 years as they were the part of Soviet Union . As Soviet Union was big and powerful so many European countries were worried so they made a deal with USA of starting NATO but in 1991 all changed about 90 % of ukrainian voted to be a independent which was a huge decision made by Ukraine even Ukraine became friends with NATO countries. So Russia did not like this decision as he wanted to be close friends with Ukraine and other countries so in 2014 Russia invaded crimea in Ukraine and captured it . In 2022 Russia did a full scale invasion on Ukraine many soldiers were killed, hom
The war beteen Russia and Ukrine has had lots od negative effects, including rising oil and energy prices also higher livingliving costs and an increase of prices in food on almost all the world. The word has harmed economies, people and also the enviroment. If the war ended, all these effects would improve and it would be good for the world in general.
Russia-Ukraine war has been going on for almost 3 years now. The major invasion started on 24th February 2022 when Russian jets flew over Kyiv and dropped missiles over the city. The reason behind this invasion was the alliance between Ukraine and NATO. Ukraine joined NATO after the Russia's Annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the outbreak of conflict in eastern Ukraine. The purpose of Ukraine joining NATO was gaining alliance in defense and security to its country. However, during the war, President Vladimir Zelensky (Current Ukraine President) has stated that they haven't received massive supports from NATO which was role of the organization. Up until today, the invasion is still going on and I'm just hoping peace for both countries.
I got 7/8 at this quiz because I know a lot of things about the war in Ukraine. I listen to the radio and watch TV. But I have also learnt that more than 90% of Ukrainian voters chose to become a new country, independent from the Soviet Union. I know that Ukrainian voted for independence but I don't know that was 90% of inhabitants of Ukraine. I also know that Russia is the biggest country in the Soviet Union. I don't know that in 2014 Russia used its military to take control of a part of Ukraine. NATO said that this was illegal but they did no react after then. Now i didn't know that currently Russia controlled one-fifth of Ukraine.
I was not aware of the history between Russia and Ukraine, I thought the war first started in 2022 so this was very informative. I think it's very unfair that Russia has invaded Ukraine, why do they want even more land when they're already the largest country in the world? I think it's greedy and wrong.
I also think Russia bombing hospitals is disgusting and dehumanising, the people in the hospitals are just trying to recover to life their life to the fullest but they're being killed for no reason.
This quiz helped me understand and learn more about what goes on during these wars that I was not previously aware of.
This quiz is very informative and interesting because I learnt a lot about the history of Ukraine. It helped me check my knowledge about this interesting topic.
I think the war in Ukraine is a very controversial toppic. I agree because over 10 million ukraine people have left the country and 1 million of the russian people have left, so there is a large difference.
Could you expand on this to explain your thinking in more detail?
Hi all!
Imagine you and your family members are peacefully sleeping, that night one heart breaking sound, "boom💥", the sound of the bomb and it continues with millions of sounds of attacks. From, imagining itself we felt scared. But, the people of these countries faces this till this day. The most unlucky day of the world, the beginning of great war.
24th Feb, 2022, breaks million of people heart, the start of great war in the history, russia VS When the president of russia, vladimir putin announced "SPECIAL MILITARY OPERATION" in one of the speech , and also the Russian troops launched a simultaneous ground and air attacks on Ukraine .this is the beginning of the large scale war conflict between two great countries, with Russia launching missile strikes and ground attacks from various places, north to south, west to east, threatening more people and loss of hundreds of life.
I know that in Russia and Ukraine people do not agree with the war. people in Ukraine and Russia don't agree with the war because bombs are getting launched from country to country none stop. That would not help with the fact that the presidents of those two countries don't care about their people causing people to leave. Also the president of russia clearly doesn't care about his own country to because the impact of the bombs he has been launching has been destroying his own land.
What I know about the Russian-Ukraine war is that a lot of soldiers have died during the war. And a lot of people have spoken about their experience in the war or what they heard about the war.
On the quiz I just took I got an eight out of eight. The quiz really had got me to think about all we did today during the lesson. I could really use these facts from a quiz within my arguments o other posts. Even on my reports or social media. The quiz really informed me on what was going on in the world and it really caught my interest. I could share these facts with my family and friends. I really enjoyed having a challenge today and the quiz was really fun. See you later.
The Russo-Ukrainian was escalated dramatically with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Here's what I personally know and why it matters to us all.
The war traces back to 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and backed separatists in eastern Ukraine. Since 2022, fighting has heavily intensified, displacing over 12 million Ukrainians and claiming tens of thousands of lives, including civilians.
Ukraine's resilience, backed by Western powers (military and humanitarian aid) has actually posed a challenge to Russia. Yet Russia still occupies places like Donetsk and Kherson despite condemnation from international communities and sanctions.
The global consequences are devastating. Soaring energy prices (here in Egypt specifically, as we get much of our oil from Russia), food insecurity (Ukraine is a major grain exporter) and fears of nuclear escalations near sites like Zaporizhzhya.
In my eyes, the war isn't just about the land itself, it's about principle. Ukraine's fight shows the right to self-determination, free from coercion or extortion. While Russia claims "security concerns", violating a sovereign nations right to freedom sets a bad precedent. Wars of aggression cannot be normalized. Yet there's hope, global powers have sided with Ukraine through aid, refugee support and cultural ties. Still, diplomacy remains essential. Negotiations must address legitimate security fears without rewarding aggression. War is never simple but empathy and truth can guide us. Let's all stand for a world where borders aren't drawn by force.
I have been hearing that people are worried about trump joining Russia's side of the war because of his relationship with Putin.
Interesting ideas. Can you explain what you mean by this?
What I mean by this is that on the news when it was broadcast on the news. They interviewed Zelenskyy and expressed his worries on trump siding or standing behind Putin other than being a mediator. This caused me to carefully watch Trump's body language and dialogue around Putin and Zelenskyy. In which I saw that Trump was more laid back and agreeing with Putin ,but he was more rigged with Zelenskyy. That is what I mean when I said that Trump may stand behind Putin. I am worried about this because although the US and Russia have had many, many disagreements before what is they try and team up up or become alliances . Also me personally in this war I am more so siding with Ukraine.
This topic made me think more about how wars are never just about two countries fighting , they affect the entire world. I have realized how history plays a big role in shaping role in shaping conflicts and that past events still influence decisions today. It also showed me how different countries react in their own ways , some by providing help , others by taking side for their own interests.
Another thing I have learned is how important it is to look at both facts and perspectives. Some times , we hear about a war but we do not fully understand why it is started or what's really happening . Learning more about it helps in forming an opinion based on knowledge rather than just emotions. It also made me think about how wars impact the ordinary people the most , forcing them to leave their home and rebuild their lives somewhere else.
The Russia-Ukraine war began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea following Ukraine's 2013-2014 Euromaidan protests, which ousted pro-Russian President Yanukovych. Russia saw Ukraine's pivot toward the European Union and NATO as a threat to its influence. Soon after Crimea's annexation, pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine's Donbas region declared independence, leading to an ongoing conflict between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed separatists. In 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, aiming to overthrow its government and prevent NATO expansion. Despite initial military advances, Ukraine mounted strong resistance, with significant Western support in the form of military aid, sanctions on Russia, and humanitarian assistance. The war caused massive civilian casualties and displacement, along with global economic disruptions, particularly in energy and food markets. As of 2023, the conflict remains unresolved, with diplomatic efforts failing to yield peace and continued escalation. The war has deeply impacted global geopolitics, with Russia facing isolation and Ukraine solidifying its ties to the West.
THANK YOU!
I think that Donald trump should stop this mess it is ruining and burning homes every body is running away I really don’t vote for any one to ruin unkrain and Russia now they are in a war fighting to save their country’s and life.
How do you think Donald Trump can take action in this situation?
I know about this a few things like the attack from Russia to Ukrainian schools, hospitals, and energy plants, also I heard about the plane that Putin take down because he thought that it was an attack sent by Ukraine, but it was actually a comercial plane which was from Azerbaiyan and was going to Grozny located in Chechenia (Russia), Putin apologized with Azerbaiyan saying that the reason why he take it down was because the plane entered into warzone
and that the actual guilty was Ukraine because they were sending drones so he thought it was a drone and that he just protecting his country.
These lessons were very informative and It also shaped my ideas from being just thoughts to my perspective and opinions.Earlier I knew that the russia Ukraine war was very deadly and harm causing but didn't know the severity of this conflict until I learned moreover on this topic.
When I came accross many discussions by topical talkers and learnt from the resources,I came to know the whole history of this war and the deep roots. When I saw stories of people who had to leave their countries and become refugees,I felt very dejected.I learnt from these lessons that these kinds of war not only affect the Nations fighting it but the whole globe. These kinds of wars destroy many livelihoods and become a dent on humankind.I also understood the hardships of the common people who get affected by these cruel wars and as they are at no fault.
To conclude,I learnt many things from the lessons and these helped shape my ideas to perspective and helped me get a full view of the mishaps.
I found this quiz very well documented and learn a lot of things about the history of Russian🇷🇺& Ukraine🇺🇦. My score was 6 out of 8 and It helped me understand the facts about the conflict.
In 1991, when Ukraine🇺🇦 gained Independence from the Soviet Union, more than 90% of Ukraine’s supported this independence. This clearly proves that the people of Ukraine wanted to preserve their own culture, language and traditions but they are in vain.
Durning the rule of the Soviet Union, Ukraine🇺🇦 suffered from Harsh policies. One of the most horrific events was the holodonor famine of the 1930,,,where millions of Ukraine died of starvation.😢
This war a result of Soviet policies that had severe impact on the people of Ukraine.
Currently,,, Russia🇷🇺 control about 20% of Ukraine🇺🇦 which highlights the severity of the on going war. This conflict has left millions of people homeless, disrupted countless lives and the international community is still searching for a solution to this crisis.
I recently learned that Ukraine and Russia once had an agreement called "The Big treaty" this was just basically used to show their friendship and free migration across their connected border. But this expired March 31,2019 due to Russia invading Ukraine which broke the agreement terms.
The war between Russia and Ukraine is one of the most significant conflicts of the 21ts century, with deep political, economic, and humanitarian repercussions on a global scale. What began in February 2022 as a full-scale invasion by Russia has turned into a prolonged war with devastating consequences for both nations and international stability. Since the beginning of the conflict. Ukraine has shown remarkable resilience, defending its territory with the support of allies such as the United States, the European Union, and NATO. According to data from various international organizations, it is estimated that millions of Ukrainians have been displaced from their homes, becoming refugees in different countries. Additionally, human losses have been alarming, with thousands of civilians and soldiers killed on both sides.
From my point of view, this war is a clear example of how geopolitical conflicts can trigger crises that impact not only the countries involved but also the rest of the world. The Russian invasion not only violates Ukraine's sovereignty but has also caused a catastroghic humanitarian impact. However, the international response has been crucial in balancing the situation and preventing further escalation. The military and financial support provided to Ukraine has allowed the country to continue defending its independence, although the country to continue defending its independence, although it also raises questions about the prolongation of the conflict and its long-term consequences.
Hello!
In my opinion the situations happening between Russia and Ukraine is heartbreaking. This conflict started 2 years ago, and It is still going, I do not like to see how political factors affect everyone, including kids who cant study thanks to various reasons, such as the fact that most of the shcools have been destroyed and the country dosen't have enought money to make new ones or to find any method to let the kids be educated. Also, many innocent people have lost their job and also mention all the innocent people that have died, some of them without even knowing where they actually where. As I have said it is completly heartbreaking and I would like this war to stop soon.
I submitted a comment on this post when it was rather new and here I am again...wishing to post once more but now with knowledge I have gained through this Topical Talk post. Although I knew quite some stuff about the Ukrainian and Russian war, I now have more knowledge. Before this post, I completely disregarded the TRUE dangers of war besides the actual war, the education system has been disrupted and kids have had their schools destroyed. I never thought about this truly happening but now the war just seems much darker than I imagined. Furthermore, this post has forced me to think of things I normally wouldn't have...like: Should doctors stay at the war or flee to safety? In which I thought long and hard for an answer. Furthermore, they made me truly think about the safety of news reporters which once against I learned something, I didn't know that they could be forced into danger if their government disapproved of their writings/reports. This post has allowed me not only to learn more about the Russian and Ukrainian war but also darker and sadder truths about wars.
I know about the russia Ukraine war that this is a brutal war which has not emerged recently but has deep roots and historical rivalry. The Russia wants to capture Ukraine for its rich land and minerals found. Also as russia Ukraine and many other countries were a part of much bigger nation -The soviet union many years back, and Ukraine had seeked to be an independent nation. From that time on,Russia wants to capture Ukraine and make it a part of its own. This war had started in 2022 but is still showing its wrath in early 2025.
This war is on a huge scale because no country is at a point to surrender and many superpowers like USA are indirectly involved. Also this war is causing damage globally and is a dent on humankind.
Also many innocent people are dying in this war and the severity of this war is at its peak
To conclude,I would like to say that this brutal war is a threat on humankind and is destroying livelihoods of many innocent lives.
I was very surprised when I got 6/8 on my quiz. Firstly, I learned that Russia and Ukraine are two countries that share a border and they both were part of a bigger country called the Soviet Union. But what I really didn't know was that both of these countries have had their fair share of friendships and arguments in the past. The Soviet Union was very big and powerful, and as a result, this instilled fear in other countries, for example, America. So for a solution to this problem, these countries came together and created a group called NATO. The countries in NATO promised each other that they would help and protect each other and prevent the Soviet Union from invading nearby countries in Europe. In 1991, more than 90% of Ukrainian voters voted to become an independent country and out of the control of the Soviet Union. By the end of the year, the Soviet Union had split into multiple countries. In 2014, Russia used its military and controlled a part of Ukraine called Crimea. Even though NATO said it was illegal, Russia is still controlling Crimea to this day. Then, on February 24th, 2022, Russia launched a full scale invasion on Ukraine, which resulted in Russia forces capturing a major city in Ukraine which was Kherson. And so, as they are in war, countries have helped both sides of the battle. Like America sending food and supplies to Ukrainians, while China buys goods from Russia. So with all this being said, this is the information I know about the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The war that still go's on today is between [ Soviet Union ] which is the old name of Russia and Ukraine . For three years on , bombs and missiles have been constantly sent to each countries fighting over how Ukraine can't join [ NATO ] . Ukraine wanted to join NATO because of Russia and how strong Russia's army was . Many citizens of Ukraine have left the country in order to stay safe of the war . In exact 801 hospitals have been destroyed during the war including military hospitals . The more hospitals get destroyed , the more harder it is to recover many injured soldiers so then there will be chaos in the country and Russia will kill everyone and will get the land Russia wanted .
I scored 6 out of 10. We all know that both Russia and Ukraine are the world largest wheat producers. When I first heard there was a war I didn't know it would affect the economy of my country. Where I stayed 25% of the food we eat is gotten from wheat when Russia and Ukraine started their war there was a shift in the market price of wheat products. THANK YOU.
I know about Russian and Ukraine war. It is very sad lots of soldiers, people and children had died because of the war. It is a tragedy and the war has to stop. Both president have to stop killing plenty of people and children and they must stop risking over peoples lives. Its now to 2025 and the war is til going which good at all. So both president has to stop this war.
I first found about this war on the news three years ago this really scared me because i had never really watched the news and it was a war.I think that Putin is wrong for what he is doing and he is only doing it for power I still cant believe that Ukraine is such a small country and Russia is such a big country and they are still holding on but they have lost a lot.I feel bad for them as when i was in primary on the last year a kid joined our class and he could not speak English and he used an ipad to translate.
I think that if the Russo-Ukraine war carries on I think in the end Ukraine will fall as its country and its people would have had enough loss. After that Putin will take another country probably the Baltic states along with Belarus and Moldova and then they will take the Central Asian countries then the Transcaucasian countries. This is what I think might happen if Russia gets Ukraine and becomes more powerful. But if Russia carries on taking countries NATO might stop Russia
I got 6 out of 8 . I learned more facts and and information about Russia and Ukraine war and I learned that one-fifth of Ukraine as been taken by Russia in the country, the war as been going on for three years continually since because Ukraine decided to live the soviet union and be an independent but Russia didn't want Ukraine to live because Russia was small in the soviet Union and Ukraine was the country helping and supporting them which led to the war between them.
I scored 8 out of 8. I learnt a lot f things such as Russia now controls one-fifth of Ukraine, Russia and Ukraine were part of a much bigger country called the soviet union, in 2014 Russia used it military power to take part of Ukraine and also the U.S helped sent some food and supplies. I say that the rate of suffering in Ukraine has reached a certain point that it has to be stopped, in other to achieve this you will need supports from different countries or instead the could just settle it by sharing apologies and by doing this, this things will be reduced.
1. Rate in death
2. Loss of foods
3. Loss in natural resources and man made resources
So I feel they could just apologize for their mistake which will be real quick than going through all those stress of rebuilding the city.
Thank You!!!
In this quiz, I learned that 90% of eligible citizens voted to be independent from the Soviet Union and Russia only controlled 1/5 of Ukraine.. This showed me how united a country can be when things are deemed unfair. Another thing that I learned from the quiz is how in 2014, Russia invaded and took control of a part of Ukraine called Crimea. Still to this day, it is still under control by Russia. Even though NATO deemed it illegal to do so, Russia still took over Crimea.
This quiz is very informative and made me learn much about the war between Russia and Ukraine. My score was 7/8, after doing the quiz i really understand the conflict that happened. Turns out Ukraine had its own culture and identity, but it was later controlled by bigger countries and empires. Many Ukrainians wanted a voice and show that they deserve their own identity as “Ukraine”. During the soviet rule, Ukrainians had harsh policies and suffered, many of them killed. At this point, Russia has control over 20% of Ukraine. I believe this is unfair but I am hopeful that they will find peace and end this as soon as possible
i know that Ukraine is alot smaller than russia
in russia many men have been sentenced to 7 years in prison for refusing to fight and that isnt right because you shouldnt have to fight if u dont want to.
education between russia & ukraine war is under attack with 1306 schools and colleges that have been damaged and 294 completely damaged to the point they might not be able to build then again but it is taking education out of the childrens lives they need education to be able to help out with the war when they are elder up to 97 % of ukrainians have lost limbs and and have need rehabitation but they wont be able to if any more soilders get killed as the hospitals will be damaged
what I have learned about Russia and Ukraine is that -
Over the years, there is cold war between America and Russia. We can take both of their space missions as an example. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia saw America as well as Western countries as a threat . They do not want their neighboring country to join hands with America or the West. At that moment, the Ukraine joined NATO (NATO is a intergovernmental military alliance of 32 members of America and Europe). Notably, Russia annexed Crimea, which was a part of Ukraine, through a controversial plebiscite. Which was declared illegal in the international arena. Also, Russia invaded Ukraine for political reasons. Since Ukraine was developing strong and important relations with Western countries and America, Russia felt that they were losing influence over a neighboring country. As a manifestation of this, Russia launched a military operation against Ukraine on February 24, 2022. They called it a "special military operation". Most of the international community considered it an illegal act.
I know that the war started three years ago. The aim of Russia was to annex some parts of Ukraine, so Putin started to invade Ukraine.
Nowadays, thanks to the support of Europe and United States, Ukraine has continued fighting. However, since Donald Trump is ruling, Ukraine has lost the support of EE.UU.
Donald Trump wants that the war finishes, in exchange, Russia stays with some part of Ukraine.
From my point of view, the war would need to finish but also leaving participation to Ukraine and Europe in the talks of peace, and not just Russia and EE.UU.
I learnt a lot about the Russia-Ukraine war by the classroom lesson as well as by the quiz. I know that Russia wanted strong ties with Ukraine but unfortunately this didn't happen. Few countries which included Russia and Ukraine and few other countries were a part of a bigger country called the Soviet Union. But eventually Ukraine decided to become another independent country and then other countries did the same too. But Russia, which was the biggest member of the Soviet Union was not happy and wanted its neighbours to still have close ties. But instead, Ukraine became friendly with other countries which were against the Soviet Union as it was very powerful. And because of this the war started and in 2022 Russia attacked Ukraine.
I learnt about this war via twitter and Instagram and learnt that this war has caused a massive destruction in both the countries. Million of lives were lost and instead of stopping this war . Many countries were supporting them. The economy also suffered terribly. The prices of domestic goods had skyrocketed . Even news reports helped me recover some knowledge about this war that NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) had put many sanctions against Russia . But yesterday the president of Ukraine met with the president of United States Of America . Where they had a heated debate and exchange of words that whether this war should stop . In which Donald Trump stated that more than 3000 billion dollars were used . Maybe president of Russia and Ukraine would be friends again which would resolve the matter .
What i know about Russia-Ukraine war, is that the Russian invasion began on the morning of 24th February 2022,when Putin announced a special "Military Operation" to "demilitarise and denazify" Ukraine minutes later, missiles and airstrikes hit across Ukraine ,including Kyiv. Shortly following by a large ground invasion along multiple fronts.
What is the reason for the war between Russia and Ukraine:
The Russia-Ukraine war begin in February 2014. Following Ukraine revolution of dignity, Russia occupied the annexed Crimea from Ukraine and supported pro-Russian separatists who began fighting the Ukraine Military in the Donbas war.
Thanks for reading.
I agree because the russia-ukraine war was trouble for so many people in ukraine they got forced to give putin their land back.
I have learnt a lot this including;the war between Ukraine and Russia started in 2014 but fired up in 24/2/2024 when Russia attacked Ukraine and took part of Ukraine named Crimea and that before all this Russia and Ukraine was in a union called Soviet Union which was feared by other nations but Ukraine Got friendly with other nations like America which made Russia angry. This escalated and started the war but in this nations like America helped Ukraine by supplying food and China helped Russia economically.
Recently, there was an argument between Donald Trump (president of USA) and Volodymyr Zelenskyy (president of Ukraine). Trump had been threatening to take away the money and resources he had sent to Ukraine so Zelenskyy went over to the White House to talk to him. The president of America stated that he would only keep their deal going if he had access to mining precious minerals in Ukraine. Zelenskyy didn’t want to do this, but he needed the money and military from Trump. After a heated argument, the president of Ukraine left without signing the contract. Who is right though? I believe that Zelenskyy was right in their argument because they need the USA’s resources to win the war and ensure their country didn’t go down. However, Trump left him with a really hard choice of losing the war or giving America priceless minerals. It’s not fair on Ukraine because Trump sees that it is win-or-die but he doesn’t care! I hope Ukraine find a way to get through this.
I know that Putin wanted to take over Ukraine as Ukraine used to be a part of Russia. I also know that lots of other countries are helping Ukraine win the war. Also Donald trump (the USA president) went to meet Volodymyr Zelenskyy ( the Ukraine president) and said “that you should give up and let Russia win or you might start world war 3”. If I was Volodymyr Zelenskyy I wouldn’t give up as I am fighting for my country. I think with the help of other countries Ukraine should win the war.
COME ON UKRAINE!
I learnt something after taking that quiz. At first I didn't really understand why the two counties were at war but after this quiz I understood more than I did before. I got a 6/8 originally because I thought Russia had more control over Ukraine and I guessed when the invasion happened . My answer was Russia controlled One third but it was actually one fifth. That surprised me because I thought Russia had more control over Ukraine. I also learned in the year 2014 Russia to control a part of Crimea ,Ukraine even though it's Illegal it's still under the control of Russia but I had picked 2000. At first I used to think that the reason they were at war was that Ukraine wanted independence from Russia but, Russia didn't want to give it up. Now I understand that they are at war because of the invasion.
Russia and Ukraine when we say this two countries the thing that cross our mind is the most disaster war in the world today I will tell you some of the information about this war did you know that Russia and Ukraine was one day together in one which was called the Soviet union this was a massive and dangerous big countries like America was afraid of making a war with them but America didn't gave up ,they made Alliances with other countries and there name was the NATO this country was also massive but America was also afraid of making a war with them so they didn't fight thank you for reading
The Ukrainian/Russian war is now at its peak with the arrival of Trump as the 44th president of the United States of America. A few days ago, Trump gave a moral lesson to Volodymyr Zelensky saying that he was "playing with World War III." The clash between those two presidents illustrates something bigger than a few words spoken, and can actually mean the end of the USA helping Ukraine. As we know, the USA have had a great impact on the war so far by helping Ukraine by sending help to the battlefront. Thanks to a lot of countries, everyone thought that Russia was going to defeat Ukraine due to the numbers of soldiers in Russia compared to Ukraine, but it has now been three years and Russia only control a little bit over than 1/5 of Ukraine. With the help of Nato, Ukraine is resisting and also gaining back their territory. However, with this clash between both president, it can have a major impact on the war, with an advantage for Poutine ( Donald Trump's political friend.)
Thank you for your comment, positive_nature! Why do you feel Putin is Donald Trump's political friend?
From my own point of view, I think that life for the individuals caught up in the war is full of sorrow, destruction, poverty, loss of loved ones, and so on, and the picture people can get from the news about the Russia-Ukraine war may vary based on the sources of information used to make the news complete.
I think the right way to report about the Russia-Ukraine war is by using first-hand accounts of the war, by getting regular updates, using expert analysis, and other ways.
Facts and statistics provide a foundation in comprehending the dynamics of the war. And perspectives and personal stories humanize the social impact on the society. But, a balanced approach that includes both elements may convey more comprehensive information.
I don't know much about Russia or Ukraine nor the war that's going on. The quiz helped me learn facts about the ongoing conflict that has been with Russia and Ukraine. I already knew that Russia wants land from Ukraine. The topic of the war between the two countries has not really been exposed to me that much, so with the quiz I found out more about the conflict.
relations between the two countries became hostile after the 2014 Ukraine evolution, which was followed by Russia annexation of Crimea from Ukraine, and the war in Donas, in which Russia backed the separatist fighters from the Donetsk peoples Republic and the Luhansk peoples Republic.
For millions of children staying in their home town was not possible due to the Russian invasion . Also it is official that America has pulled their troops out of Ukrainian land. But for those whom have managed to remain in the country,School lessons are mostly taking place online . However power lines are often damaged during air strikes and electricity blackouts are possible. In other areas some are managing to return to classroom’s-often in makeshift buildings or underground bunkers after their school were destroyed.
